Hello Friends! Katy here and today I am excited to share this really cool background technique.
In todays video tutorial I am sharing how I use some All Purpose Inks, Delicata Inks and a 3D embossing folder to create a Gilded/Aged Celtic background. I have to admit I am in love with these backgrounds and in the video I show two ways to create it and both give different results depending on how you apply the ink. I also give some alternatives to the products I am using in the video (also listed below), so be sure and watch to find out what they are. This technique will work with any embossing folder and I will for sure be using it with other folders I have in my stash.

ALTERNATIVE PRODUCTS THAT CAN BE USED TO RECREATE SOMETHING SIMILAR
- Pigment Ink - Reinker would be best vs ink pad
- Acrylic Paint
- Gilding Wax
- Any Metallic Ink
The key here is using white ink/paint as your base then add your colors on top of the white.

These cards are gorgeous! I’ve been an at home card maker for around 30 years, I’m old now 😂. Ohhhhhhh, I 😍 the effect before you put the cardstock through the embossing folder. I've tried something similar with paints, waxes and pastes, but never with ink over white. Adding to my list of new to me techniques to try. And of course, the end result with all that glorious texture is also gorgeous. TFS 🥰

absolutely stunning, i just had to give it a try, but not a bottle of ink in sight lol, so i used acrylic paint and gilding wax and they turned out stunning thank you so much for the inspiration

Beautiful and yet simple! I used navy blue background and my TH distress paints to create a card front. I also used the “ink it up” brand gold pad I had for years! It turned out pretty well. My embossing folder from Ann Griffin wasn’t 3D but I have some 3D folders I’ll now try. Thanks so much for the inspiration when I needed to make a quick/pretty card for someone! ❤

Thank you, Marguerite!! I want to say yes, you could use metallic acrylic paint. But…I don’t know if it would apply the same, try using the sponge (small square) and dab off the paint so you don’t have to much. Thank you, my friend. I turned on CC (closed captioning). When you play the video hit pause and then look to the right top corner for the screw icon, right next to CC. Could you use stencil butter instead of the Delicate inks?
Hi Debbie, thanks for your question. Honestly, I have never tried it so I don’t really know. If I were to try it, I would use a make-up sponge to apply it so it would lightly coat the raised areas. If you use your finger, like I did in the video, it may glob up and not be easy to apply to the raised areas. You want to make sure you have a thin amount kind of like you’re dusting on the raised parts. Let me know if you try it and how it turns out. Appreciate you, my friend. ❤️
