    I hope we can get proper PIP for dual-rendered scopes (like from Escape from Tarkov)

    It's hard to make out much of the screenshots as previous ArmAs did look impressive. We will have to see then.

      Oh definitely, I remember the leap from opflash to ArmA I still remember thinking "wow". Do remember that footage from arma 2 that got passed off as real on some bbc news report? If you catch the perfect time of day, the lighting/shadows just give it such an authentic feel.

    I am worried about Arma 4 being made for consoles. Not so much for the reason of graphical downgrades, but more for the downgrade of controls and systems. The controller only has so many buttons, and this may force them to design the game in a way which can ensure that it translates for a controller. This could mean we see things like advanced stances removed or dumbed down, multi action buttons ie: frag grenade and interact key (most extreme and toxic multi action i could think of) bound to same action/key. I'm sure they will do us right, but I am scared shitless nonetheless.

    • @HazBofficial
      @HazBofficial  2 роки тому +1

      Hopefully that's not the case John, On the FAQ it states just because they CAN develop a project on multiple platforms doesnt necessarily mean they WILL. It's just an option afforded to them by how scalable the engine is. I dont use the advanced stances alot but I love the fact I have the option to. Especially if I'm behind some complex shaped cover.
      I'd imagine them being able to keep the advanced stances etc for pc and having a different controller "scheme" for console
      I do think BI want to have another good crack at the console market sooner or later. I think they will be careful on selecting a project for their next console venture.

      I feel like this is a fair worry, but knowing that they said PC master race i think even if arma title will have console support, console players will be simply at disadvantage or well alot and alot of combo keybinds in other words what works for planes

    • @apollyonexe868
      @apollyonexe868 2 роки тому

      @@mattin5850 yeah, I am hoping they prove me wrong, but it happened to DayZ standalone. They removed alot of the Arma 2 style controls from it's initial steam release with Dean Hall. This could be just because they were working off the Arma 2.5 engine initially and hadn't coded out alot of the controls they didnt plan on using, but then over time, we saw things like the radial wheel being included for the console peeps. So it's hard to say, and it sucks because a company that isn't looking to maximise their sales and compromise for the wider general audience that might pick it up for a few hours. A purchase is a purchase in the end. I just don't get why consoles don't push for the options for keyboard and mouse style inputs. They could sell a boatload especially now that cross play is becoming more and more of a thing. A console boy with a controller wouldn't want to be at a disadvantage to a mouse and keyboard guy in pvp. I think they tried keyboard and mouse accessories for some consoles way back before cross play was a thing, and from memory they werent like a true keyboard and mouse option.

    We are going to be test subjects for a new title that will not be Arma 4! This new engine is meant to carry over to consoles along with PC and I believe the PC community is going to get a dumbed down, streamlined version of something that could have been truly great.

    Wait, 4:16, thats Everon, no? The valley near Saint Pierre in the south. I’m pretty sure it is. The castle should be on the right side. Might it be, that this is Arma Reforger screenshot?

    • @HazBofficial
      @HazBofficial  2 роки тому +1

      Good eyes, yes I do believe so. There was was a post on twitter with comparison shots between these screens and OFP screens. A reimagined Everon does seem to be their environmental "test bed" perhaps reforger might be an experimental project or tech demo testing various features of this new engine.

    • @Recru1tas
      @Recru1tas 2 роки тому

      @@HazBofficial I played the hell out of OFP when I was a kid, so it is hard not to notice it. Everon and Nogova are still my favorite terrains, though ports to Arma 3 could be better.
      Makes sense that Everon could be their test bed, as in the ‘leaked’ screenshots of reforger, there is a lot of redesigned buildings from OFP. Then again, BI re-uses their assets in all of their Arma games. Church in Livonia is the same one as it was in OFP.

  • @glennpeterson1357

    I for one really like all the CDLCs that have been released. It’s been a great initiative by BI and I hope they expand it. Of course SOG Prairie Fire is king, but they all have their good points. Actually I’m surprised how much I like Western Sahara despite its small size, I find it quite unique and atmospheric - much better than I expected.
    As for “the next Arma”, better graphics is one thing, but I just want decent AI…say at least as smart as a dog (or even better a cat! 😝) and no more “getting Arma-ed” and having all those immersion breaking frustrations. I’m willing to take a much cut down “out of the box playability” (e.g. no big story driven campaigns, etc) if they just get the “simulated world” as good as they can get it and then let modders take care of most of the rest, then that will be great….
    ….having said that, some of the “best Arma” moments are due to its buggy bullshittery! What would our Arma experience be like without watching all those glitchy Arma UA-cam vids! 😂

    • @HazBofficial
      @HazBofficial  2 роки тому +2

      Lol yeah Arma does provide some whacky moments, I think the timings of it are great aswell - as you said getting fully immersed about to begin an assault then your APC starts bouncing around like barney the dinosaur and takes out your assault team 🤣
      Maybe they'll take a similar style of development akin to Arma 3, a phased release. Terrain, fundamental systems and short showcases then gradually adding campaigns etc once they have the core gameplay down. Who knows. BI has experimented alot over the years with pretty much every facet of development.
      Interesting times ahead me thinks.

    Ya know I don't want to be a debbie downer, but I really hope Day Z isn't remotely representative of ArmA 4s performance or quality. Although I feel ultimately the biggest factor will be whether they plan to release on consoles or not. Don't get me wrong, I would love for console players to get to experience a full blown ArmA game, it's how I got my own start back in the OFP days, but unfortunately we have seen big ambitious PC titles hamstring themselves time and time again by developing around console limitations. Oh well, I choose to remain cautiously optimistic in the mean time.

      Don't worry, it isn't. DayZ Standalone is like the zombie survival mod of Take On Helicopters. DayZ Standalone is as much Enfusion-powered as CSGO is Source 2 powered. Don't believe the rumours on either.

    • @HazBofficial

      Hey butch, Touching on the consoles firstly, The way I've absorbed the information on the FAQ is, they have the potential to develop a game on multiple platforms rather than making poor "ports"
      To quote:
      Question
      "Does this mean all of your games will now be released on consoles as well?"
      Answer
      "They don’t have to but they can as the engine runs on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. Enfusion-built games don't have to be "ported" and can be developed for all three platforms at the same time while sharing a common code base and assets."
      Onto Dayz itself, I feel I've created this viewpoint from my constant references to it throughout the video. Dayz used an early version of the renderer,animation editor and enforce scripting. However this was not enfusion, merely some of its components slapped into RV. It is essentially a hybrid. Compare it to a hybrid ssHD. Better than a normal hard drive but still not remotely touching a dedicated Solid State Drive.
      My intention was to merely point out things that would be relatable or tangible to include in arma 4, sorry if I dayz'a'fied the video lmao.
      I believe that Bohemia will release a tech demo of some kind in that too distant future.

    We all know what this means, arma 4 in 2023 and since you see in 1 pic modern russian vehicles and katyusha, if it is arma 4 sneak peak or well spoiler i think it means arma 2 like scenario US and maybe nato vs russian forces but in 2000s

    • @HazBofficial
      @HazBofficial  2 роки тому

      As much as I love current/modern "feels" I've come to love the current 2035 armaverse even more. Then again it would be interesting if they explore the verse between now and say late 2020's/early 2030's. The crumbling presence of NATO and eventual formation of CSAT.
      This COULD be ArmA 4 assets or it could be a test bed? There was a rumour of "reforger" being a playable cold war multiplayer test bed. A tech demo of sorts. They might have a lot of the pieces together already, imagine them dropping a playable tech demo for Xmas or new year's! Yes please 😀

    • @mattin5850
      @mattin5850 2 роки тому

      @@HazBofficial would be an amazing Christmas gift, but as far as I am into military trucks those russian truck backs seem to be from atleast 2000s they are still being used even just that some have a newer frame ( cabin) so maybe not reforger but maybe just a demo with modern tech, we will see I guess but this is quite big news practically confirming that bohemia will continue arma and with them implying to follow their social accounts I feel like next year could also be quite as big but maybe it's just my hype.
      Also going to be a sad time saying bye to arma 3, while other game communities dont like bugs etc, we simply accept them, arma 3 as the tank space program will always be the way I remember it

    Don't want to get you all excited, but open the Chernarus 2020 Map in the editor, put the camera in the area of Dolina, look east towards Solnichniy and you have a very, very similar view as the still in the video at 4:10. All the other stills also look very like Chernarus. Happy days!

    • @HazBofficial

      I believe, from what I've read so far, this is actully Everon. Think all enfusion related screens so far have been set on this terrain. It is most likely their environmental test bed and I would be surprised if it is used in an upcoming tech demo or if we were very lucky a playable tech demo.

    Bohemia isn't going to impress anyone with these samples. Other games, even much older games like Battlefield Bad Company 1/2 had a much better and smoother game engine that allowed for full environmental destruction with smooth frames per second. More modern games like Squad, Post Scriptum, and Hell Let Loose are also beautiful and run great - the point being, that graphics and a few touched up screenshots won't impress anyone, especially given the awful in-game performance of ARMA.
    What I'd really like to see is a better waypoint / AI management system (much like Steel Beasts) that helps me manage platoon-scaled units; multiple squads and vehicles without relying on 3 or 4 separate mods. I want to give waypoints and have the AI actually follow them so I can synchronize/coordinate multiple units.

    • @tunners

      I’m impressed. The engines you mention can’t pull off the scale of Arma. They’ve showcased more than the screenshots, like the developer tools. As for performance, multi-threading and general performance improvements are confirmed.

      Squad running great... that's a first... its recommended specs aren't even accurate. Unreal Engine 4 is a pile of trash that spent a decade in development hell and everything built on it is mediocre. Arma 4 has big boots to fill but since it's actually getting a new engine and not an Arma 2 mod this time the potential is greater than ever before.

    • @glennpeterson1357

      Definitely agree on better AI command, especially for other squads / units. I pretty much gave up on anything “high command” related because it’s just so damn infuriating!

      In relation to “graphics”, I think this from BI is a good explanation that I would agree with:
      “Instead of flexing with cutting-edge graphics technology, our focus is on making environments more believable. That includes everything from proper lighting across day / night cycles to grass and trees moving in the wind or the simulation of stars illuminating a dark sky.”

    • @HazBofficial
      @HazBofficial  2 роки тому +1

      I share your sentiments around ai management. I'm hoping the programming language combined with their high level scripting enforce can improve on this aspect whilst leaving much headroom for modders at the same time.
      Personally I think the graphics look very pleasing, particularly impressed with how the mountain and hillside rocks look, they blend rather than sticking out from the base terrain too much. The lighting seems very nice and judging by the cabin in the dark screen they have fixed light issues and shadows in and around structures.
      Dont think we can judge performance yet but I fully appreciate your scepticism, we know arma runs about as smooth as Egyptian whiskey lol.
      I've got a feeling a tech demo or playable test bed of some sort is relatively close and we might see for ourselves.
      Beauty is very subjective especially with games...I think most games we love to play have their own particular charm. Take combat mission for example...god knows how old that engine is but still holds some strange beauty to me. Arma 3 is a decade old yet still can present striking moments.
      I think if we were truly in it for the gfx that we wouldn't be holding this discussion. Performance will be the benchmark many of us will hold enfusion to judging by what I've read here and everywhere else for the past few years.
      Think the onus is in BI to come out and show us something we can really grasp and get a feel for now.
