Hi. Thank you for that tutorial. Very informative. I am trying to restore a singer stylist 457. I’ve managed to restore everything only to find out the bobbin winder does not work. Have you a solution for this? I would certainly appreciate learning how to. Thanks in advance. Deborah
Thank you so much for this . This is exactly what I have been battling with my singer machine but I don’t have the screws on my machine. Please help. Thank you and God bless you.
Working on my vintage lady, Necchi 522, The rubber gasket is new but I can’t seem to make the metal where the bobbin sits spin, like there’s too much friction. Any thoughts? Thanks
Another thing. My bobbin wasn't winding. However, I had had to oil the handwheel and shaft to keep the needle from going up and down when trying to wind the bobbin (after loosening the clamp / clutch). So there was some oil on the rubber bobbin winder (remove the top of the machine and look underneath where the bobbin post is). Oil, no friction between the winder and the handwheel; so no winding. I cleaned the surfaces well (the rubber winder and all around the handwheel where it would make contact), then it would wind!!
Thank you for this video! Is the silver part (that the rubber wheel goes around) supposed to spin? My rubber wheel is ripped but the silver part does not move or spin at all.
You’re welcome. Yes that is supposed to spin. Perhaps you have debris lodged in it. Try cleaning it and applying some oil to it to get it moving again. If that doesn’t work then you will need to buy a new winder. They can be found on Amazon or on a website called www.sewingpartsonline.com. Thanks for watching. Hope this helps. You can purchase them on Amazon. Most craft stores as well as Walmart also carry them. The rubber wheels are a one size fits all. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe
My singer 7426 bobbin winder just doesn’t work at all makes loud jamming noises. Will this procedure work on this model as well? Resorted top buying a separate bobbin side winder.
This would only fix a slipping bobbin winder. Your scenario sounds like the winder is seized and lacking lubricant. Have you tried oiling? Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe
Check out sewing parts online. It’s a website where you can buy anything you need for machines. Here is the link to bobbin winder springs: www.sewingpartsonline.com/search.html?keywords=Bobbin%20winDer%20spring&index=18 If you want to narrow your search just type the brand of machine. Example singer bobbin winder spring. Or brother bobbin winder spring etc. when you click on one just make sure to read the description and they will list what models it will fit. Hope this helps. You’re welcome. These wheels can be bought for a few bucks at most craft stores and usually come in multi packs. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe
If you use an exacto knife and slice it then you can peel it off easily. Then for the new rubber, boil a pot of water then remove it from the burner, drop the new rubber in for a quick minute so it heats up and becomes flexible. This will make the install easy. When the rubber cools back down it will be nice and tight. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe
Replace the rubber like I showed in the video then. Should help your issue. Your rubber is probably worn down. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

I can't seem to get the cover off my Brother machine to do this. I found all the crews but it is still not coming off.
