I’m so glad!
Am the first to watch the video 🥳
Well done 🎉
Your videos make my day😄✨
So, I know nothing about this, but I read somewhere, that people use the gallon size glass beverage serving jars (that have a spout at the bottom) to separate the cream from the skim. They just drain it from the bottom until it reaches the cream. This sounded much simpler to me... just a thought 🧐. I love your videos and your family is so precious 😍! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences with all of us 🌏🌎🌍🙏💝🌟🐄🐖🐓🐔🐔🐣🐤🐥🐦🦃🦆🐛🐝🦋🦋🦋🥚🍶... thank you from North Carolina 😊👍!
I actually wondered if you made your own butter and ice cream! An episode about that would be fun.
definitely
Wonderful to see Becky starring more in this one! Love Poppy as a name!
Spoiler comments😒😒😒😒:-\=_==_=
@@goodluck7478 ummm it was an amazing name!
What a GREAT TOOL to use on a cow that kicks! When I was young, we used metal kickers, which attached at the back of their legs which restrained them from kicking. I love you both but I am SO IMPRESSED WITH BECKY, what a worker bee she is!! Just like us girls on the farm. My parents had 13 children with only three boys, so us girls were well versed in FARMING. GOD BLESS YOU BOTH AND YOUR WONDERFUL CHILDREN!!!! My new most favourite homestead channel!
I just love the life you are giving your children I grew up on a Portuguese style farm in New England in the late 50's I am almost 70 and still think of all I saw and did
Poppy is a great name for a pretty calf! ❤ I love your solution for the kicking. Stay safe!
Thank you, Eileen!
GLAD you found a safe way to milk Dolly & hello Poppy she a beauty . It's great the kid's are learning how to help take care of the milk what a good learning experience to have all the knowledge to run a successful farm , I can't express enough how I love you farm land it's a BEAUTIFUL place to be . enjoyed the video y'all be safe , happy & most of all y'all are Blessed to have a wonderful life together on the farm 💜🍀❤🚜
So thankful that you share your milk with the cow. Feel so sad when the calf is taken from the mom.
I've been waiting for my weekly dose of "White House on the Hill" for what seems like forever Your videos are the highlight of my week! Love seeing yourself, Becky all the boys and baby Bella living the dream. Thank you for creating such interesting and relaxing content xx
Thank you, Kimberly!
I would suggest having a pulley system that would hold the cow can't kick above the milking station so you don't have to work as hard getting it on and off. Less twisting and bending and it would be located near the area it should be every time.
Might try that, we’ll think about it
We had dairy goats when I was a kid, pun intended. One thing I found was that when their tweets were dry and chapped they would kick more. We used mixtures of olive oil and bag balm to help moisturize, especially after the soapy water. But also being in the dry Colorado mountains made it difficult.
So glad you all found something that works for you and Dolly. That takes the stress away from you guys. Love your kids too. Such a big help and the "rooster attack" outfit was such a delight, and obviously worked. That will give him more confidence around those pesky roosters lol. As always, wonderful to see the update. Thank you all for sharing with us
Glad that worked out! I used hobbles with my first cow that kicked a lot, and that worked pretty good, but if I had another cow that kicked I would definitely want to try the Kant Kick bar. My Guernsey is just too sweet to need one 😉
Hey, Guys! Glad you found a way to get your cow to stop kicking. Never fun milking a kicking cow. We’ve had great success with our Kick Stop device and it looks like the Kow Kant Kick is working as well.
I like how the Kick stop is adjustable, but it stays locked in place, so you don’t have to adjust it every time for the same cow. We only use one, because we milk from one side most of the time. If we had a determined kicker, I would get another Kick stop and just hook it on the other side.
The kick stop on one side works effectively, especially because I’ll have them rest their weight on the opposite side, so they can’t use either leg to kick. So it’s another affordable tool to have cow-side. And I prefer either one to using ropes 😅-K
Glad to hear it, thanks for making your videos so we could make a well-educated decision on what to try!
So happy you guys found a solution that works to keep you guys safe!!
Jersey calf as so cute! Congratulations!
I was going to suggest the Kow Kant Kick device. Seen it on Roots and Refuge vlog. Glad you
found it, and it works for y'all. It makes milking so much safer. Poppy is a great name selection. Poppy is adorable, love her eyes, and lashes!
Isn't it wonderful that someone thought up an invention that protects you from getting kicked and doesn't harm the cow AND you all discovered the product so you could use it!!
I'm the one who suggested the kick bar, and I am so glad it worked for you! Now milking can be a nice experience! Where's my prize? 🤣
You guys are such great people. My neighbors used to put something like you use to keep the kicking when milking m They work wonders. Wouldn't it
Poor girl. When I had my kids, pumping was the absolute worst. I hated it so much. Eventually I discovered the Hakaa and that was so much more comfortable because the pressure was consistent. It was a massive relief when I had mastitis.
Anyway, this video gives me flashbacks. 😅
No more kicking!! That’s a relief. And so much milk!
Yes, we love it!
New to the channel, love how your family has grown over the years, still watching the videos to catch up! Have you ever thought of selling a variety of eggs, it would be great to have at least 4 of each to hatch. I love all the birds. Tried to find a few of the breads but no luck, maybe this spring.
Glad you've found a solution that works.
It looks like the calf is only using one teet. If you felt like it you could consider getting a second calf for her.
Yeap! So glad you found it. Since we got it my grandkids now handmilk. I was hoping you would see our comment about it.
First of all, I love the thumbnail (it’s so funny!). I’m happy that it worked and that dolly can’t kick you anymore (the tool is so clever). Naming her poppy was so cute! It suits her so well. I love watching your content, and I look forward to your next video. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
Poppy is a beautiful name for the calf. She's cute. Good lot of milk, love the new gadget to stop the kicks. Yay sorted. Xoxoxoxo
What a great gadget to keep the cowsb from kicking! Whoever invented that’s going to make a lot of farmers very happy! the aviary is looking great!❤🎉n
How do you make farm life look so easy
Good editing!🤭
What.....
Eli is getting so big!. Such a help around the farm. He's turning into a young man.
Exciting to see different options for a solution, thanks for sharing.
Can you plant peaches in you area? More flowers for the bees, some fruit for you guys in summer. Plus great view on spring
Yes, we have 4 or 5 peach trees in our orchard.
Love the name Poppy! So glad you found something so you won't get cow kicked anymore!
Me too!
OOOH THE CALF IS SOOOOO CUTE
That new tool is way better than tying her feet so glad you found it. Poppy is a great name for the little one
Thanks! I agree
Isaiah with his goggles and stick around the roosters was the cutest! Poppy is a great name, and she has such big, beautiful brown eyes. We always look forward to watching your videos.
I don't know if you will get this comment but I'm you and your in family are the most humble, kindest people I have ever in encountered. Rebecca is so I'm sweet and dedicated people. Luv your attitude.👍🙂
Thank you 😊
This Kant Kick bar is amazing. It is so safe to use.
I am glad you get 3 gallons and the calf gets plenty. I know you cannot sell raw milk due to REGULATORY LAW. But healthy raw milk is great for the immune system.
So much is under Regulatory law now. The Declaration of Independence was to free this nation from administrative law, aka regulatory law. We the people LOST! The governments of this nation have gone insane with regulatory law.
I enjoy seeing your children experience life more like it was when I was young. They, like I, know from a young age we must eat plants and animals. I know you teach them to be thankful daily. This is the foundation of happiness.
May you and your family continue to enjoy life and bring us along on your journey. TY, I enjoy this experience.
Great last week i mentioned about cow can't kick and here is it. Good to see it is helping you.
I saw Jess and Jeremiah Sowards use the Cow Can’t Kick and have had good luck with it also. I’m glad you tried that
Yeah no Daisy! Poppy is such a good name!!!! And I'm so glad that kowcantkick worked for you!
The little one ready to fight off the roosters....oh my heart ❤ 💙 🥰🥰🥰
😂
Notification Gang! From South Africa with love! Thank you for the video
👏🏻
Welcome to Poppy she is adorable and growing fast The new hip brace for milking looks brilliant. I suppose it just stops her being able to move her leg and hip to kick. Makes it look much safer to milk. Love all that milk and cream. We need to see Becky making cheese and butter.
Much safer 👍🏻
Oh my goodness, Little Isaiah in his rooster armor! I love it!
😂
That hurts
That is so exciting I am so glad that that kick bar has worked very well for y'all! It was a very good invention and it's definitely worth every penny for everyone's safety involved. And Poppy is absolutely beautiful! She is just all giddy and bouncy LOL too cute for words. Look at all that cream yum so much you can do with that milk. Love watching y'all's vids. God bless you all and stay safe and stay lovely big hugs from Texas
Thank you!
Yay!!! I am so glad you found something that works! I couldn't remember the name of the thing. No one deserves to be kicked like that. I had to laugh because now she will learn her manners. 👍🤣🤣
Love you’re videos! Keep up the amazing Videos!
Thanks!
Poppy running around and jumping is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. It’s so sad how these innocent animals in the milk industries suffer like that. I love the way you guys milk them safely ☺️
That Cow Can't Kick bar is exactly what we have and she hasn't kicked at all this year! Yay!!
Jessica over at roots and refuge they used that same bar on their cow and it worked great on her as well.
I'm so happy y'all can now milk safely. Poppy is so cute!
Beautiful cafe great team work.
We always called those "clamps" at our dairy farms. Always had them lying around for problem cows, very rare. A simple rope can work in a pinch. I just stick my head in the little pocket in front of their legs 😂
Love that you have found a safe way to milk Dolly! Hope that it works with any other cow. SUGGESTION making milk into icecream cheese or butter for a video?
WELCOME POPPY!! You have a wonderful new momma and human family!! :)
So glad you guys got the kicking thing worked out.. Those hooves are no joke coming at your head, arm, or even hand. Wish I lived closer i'd pay for some of that fresh milk every week. I cannot find it here around me anywhere. Only goats milk. I even looked for milk shares. Nothing! Poppy is a great name! Have a great week ya'll. ♥
Thanks!
I think, less things to clean, is my second language.
The last couple times I had more milk than I could get through, I made an Indian cheese, Paneer. I haven't had that problem in a while.
Boil milk with about 20% extra cream, dump in lemon juice to end the boil. Vinegar works too but I like the lemon flavor. I think it's a cup of acid to a gallon of milk.. but I've never done a gallon. I pour it in slow and watch for it to start clumping. that's where I stop with lemon juice.
Get it off the heat, give it a good stir and cover it until it cools to room temp. cut up the curd, drain and press over night wrapped in tea towels or flour sack towels, something absorbent. I like it cubed and cooked with greens (spinach mostly)
I put the whey in the compost pile.
Very nice. No kicking. Love the baby calfs name. Can't wait for more videos
Well that is a beautiful name, congrats to the person who thaught of that 😉
So happy the device works!!! And Poppy is a great name. All that beautiful cream!!! So good in coffee! God bless you all.🌺
Thank you, Cynthia!
I have one of those milking machines I use when I milk my cows at my county fairs. They are so nice and easy to clean.
Aww adorable name poppy love it ❤❤❤ and yay she can't kick amazing 🎉🎉
I know a women with an antsy cow. She switched to grain treat after milk and it fixed the kicking problem.
Poppy! What a sweet name!❤❤❤
Tell Poppy that it is very nice to meet her! ☺️ I'm glad Dolly cannot kick y'all anymore. Don't have to feel like you're running out in the middle of the traffic now! Yay!
😂
Always happy to see your new video come out. Glad you found a fix to stop your cow from kicking. That’s a lot of milk. 🥛🐄 🙂
Thank you, Jo Ann!
You guys are so close to 1 million subscribers!
Poppy is a beautiful name , for a beautiful little calf
yes you used the same thing my family uses with our cows works on Jerseys, Holsteins and even our Guernsey it is the safest way to go and the most human way in my opinion
Looks like Poppy is doing great! Have you considered trying to halter train her/collaring her?
So glad to see you guys investing in the Kow Kant Kick bar too! I always found myself so nervous when I saw you guys milking.
Halter training poppy and spending time handling her all over might make her easier to work with when she’s grown.
The new aviary is looking fabulous
As somebody in animal behavior, it’s always surprising how often people want to find a piece of equipment to prevent an animals reactions rather than modifying the behavior or figuring out why the animal is uncomfortable and fixing it.
Becky, will you do a video with recipes you make? The coffee creamer sounds amazing with fresh cream ❤️
OMG i was like if i called her anything might be Poppy love that name and then you introduced her and omg my smile was ear to ear
You're so fortunate to have fresh milk, that you know where it came from. I'd be making cheeses, yogurt & many other goodies. Happy milking.
I recommend Nigerian dwarf goats, they have a richer healthier bulk and I don’t know too much about the safety of drinking cows melt but I’ve heard you’ve always had to pasteurize it with Goat smoke you don’t need to pasteurize it because all the bacteria in their milk is very good for you It’s very rich and creamy some people says it taste like melted vanilla ice cream and not to mention their small size is much easier to manage that a big cow. They say cows should be eating a whole square bale a day per cow my Nigerian dwarf goats only eat A flake of hay a day. They don’t even need any grain. I am there super fun with the kids I am a younger person and I really enjoy the goats because they’re such a small size that they are so fun to hang out with. If you ever do decide to get goats I recommend getting registered goats because they’re much easier to sell their babies and if you’re ever interested in getting a Nigerian Dwarf goat I breed registered Nigerian Dwarf goats specifically for milk production. One of our first fresheners which means first time having a baby and first time producing milk produced almost a whole entire 32 ounce mason jar and she was a little goat.
I was looking into getting a cow but once I saw how much you have to feed them every day I know that would make me miserable. They’re so cute and I love cows but I just don’t see it necessary buying a cow and having them eat a whole square bale of hay a day which costs us 15 dollars around here with inflation
That’s awesome! I have a question, do they make the milking machine for goats? I have 6 Nubian that are milking and boy does it take forever!!
Justin I watch Crystal and her goats on Blue Cactus Farm. She uses a milking machine on all her does and she has over 20+. Go look her up for info. Hope this helps.
Yes there is. Look up a channel called Blue Cactus Dairy They recently switched to milkers and documented the learning process
Yes, Melasty/Mitty Supply has milkers for goats as well.
You do everything over and over so it looks easy.
I used to live on a farm and do everything that they do I was about 5 years old.
Ur so close to 1 million subscribes congrats 🥳!!
I want farm life so bad. Your videos make me want it more and more especially the cows because I love cows
😍
Same :)
Great name. Thanks for showing us most of the flock today!
Was that big fluffy white chicken a silkie? So pretty!
Hi folks. My wife and I love your channel. You are both very fine parents. We have already raised our homeschooling kids. Watching your children working side by side with you is really terrific. It's the opposite of a city gang. The skills they are learning will be in there memory forever. Bravo!!!
🤗😍. Yay. So glad to see you guys got one of these - no kick bars!!!
That's kind of genius how it blocks the knees. So simple and so effective.
Yes, it’s perfect, wish we got it sooner!
That’s the name I wanted for my puppy but it just sit right and was too close to puppy and copper…for my 4 years old to say, he was already calling Copper, Popper but I love Poppy!
Maybe it would be interesting to film and show everything about te milk, for example what cream is and how you can make all the things like ice cream etc. learned allready so much and it was very interesting
may that little calf bring joy :D
So cute 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
