Please invest in some riding helmets and a back protector for u and the family. Especially for riding Stirling as he sounds like he can be a jumpy horse if something spokes him.
I was going to say the same thing. Helmets are a must. Please get them. Not only for your safety but also as an example for your kids. They need to know how to be safe when riding.
NEVER ride w/o a helmet, PLEASE! A friend fell from a horse on a BEACH -major head injuries. It only takes one fall. It's not worth the risk. Helmets for everyone❤❤❤
Getting thrown makes you horse person. And there are a lot more things hurt worse than landing on your head
@@mangum3006I'm happy living without a traumatic head injury for the rest of my life so I think I'll stick to wearing a helmet
@@mangum3006I know experienced riders that are dead due to a head injury from falling off of a horse so I will keep my helmet on. It only takes one time. The horses I am talking about were well trained and just happened to trip. Sterling looks to be a bit spooky so I wouldn’t trust it.
Helmets are so important. I’ve been tossed from horses a bunch of times over the years. Your heads are delicate and can too easily go smoosh. 🎉
Have your vet out to see if Sterling may need a nebulizer. I've seen them help horses with coughs! Also soaking hay may help if it's triggered by dust/dirt. Congrats on the new horse!
I love that your boys are so involved with taking care of the birds. They will never be without animals their whole lives. What a great investment in their futures.
I’m so thrilled for you!!! Just a little advice.
Please look into a tie blocker tie safety ring. It will allow your horse to stand tied but if Sterling gets scared, if he pulls back it won’t damage his poll or neck. They are inexpensive on Amazon or most tack shops.
I’m a Yaya (grandma) trainer/instructor. Blessings to you!!!
Great groundwork techniques going on there! Such a great way to build a bond with your horse and teach them to respect you and your space. Glad to see Holiday has a friend now - he is stunning. Palomino’s have always been a favourite colour of mine.
You are so kind
@@whitehouseonthehill I’m not trying to be rude but please please get riding helmets for your kids they can get injured bad if they fall off without a helmet
Thankyou! For the reasons you stated, Groundwork in my opinion should be something every rider should become a master of!
@@Zach-rc2xj no, that is not needed.
@@pearlleeooo9955 from that height, it is needed even if their brain is homeschooled
My gosh, Bella's reaction to the new horse at 10:46 was the sweetest!!! And loving the new kitty too much, she's a girl after my own heart! 😊
I loved that, too 🥰
Sterling seems like a good calm gentle Gelding. Great addition especially for Holiday. Congratulations yall
Yes! Thank you!
Sterling is absolutely stunning and holiday is so funny 😆 with her facials
Who doesn't love a pally? Favorite color. I've owned 5 palominos in my life.
Learning experiences. This transition and introductions appears to be much smoother and safer.
There are lots of heave aid products you can add to Sterlings feed that will bring him relief. (If he has heaves.) Also watering down his hay. Anyway you can eliminate dust.
So Sterling was vet checked for heaves and it was not present enough to be a confirmed diagnosis… so we treated it more like mild seasonal allergies…the only symptom we have ever observed is a random cough from time to time which has been easily controlled by environmental management and occasional homeopathic supplements he has no problem being ridden or in ground work, its even been difficult to pin down a trigger (such as dry, dusty hay, summer months, or periods of heavy pollen count). In fact when i was planning to film him for our youtube channel and explain his cough I managed to capture a single random cough in 10 weeks of training ! But yes- good advice regardless, dusty hay is never good!
Isabella has been growing up so much and she’s been really gentle and kind I think she’s really like everything inside of farm
I had a feeling you got another horse and I called it! I HEARD YOU SAY HORSES!! PLURAL!!
Congratulations on your new family member! He is gorgeous ❤
I’m so happy for your family and that Sterling has a wonderful new home at your farm with Holiday! Happy Thanksgiving 🍁🦃
Excellent. Sterling is a beautiful addition for your family. 😊❤👍
Congratulations everybody. I agree with Bella, it's magnificent to have another horse. I love her response! Nice to have a new kitty.
Happy Thanksgiving.
Love this family 💕
I’d suggest treating both horses for ulcers and giving them a pre/probiotic for a little while. The trailer ride to your home followed by a new routine, new people and new friends (emu) will likely cause some ulcers which will lead to unwanted behaviour. Omeprazole you have to get from your vet and the probiotics you can get from your local feed or tack store.
Congratulations for new members on your farm 🎉🎉
I grew up riding quarter horses that we would turn out to pasture in the Winter and bring them back in the Spring when we needed them. My dad always told me that if I could feel a little bulge under the saddle toward the back when I was sitting on one (like there was a small melon under the saddle), that it was thinking about bucking - whenever I felt that I made sure to be very gentle, no quick movements, no running, basically let him walk with gentle direction until it went away :) It was always touch and go for the first week or two but I never got bucked off - can't say the same for many of the "cowboys" that worked for my dad and thought they knew more than he did though :)
I LOVE Carrie's fuzzy piggies!!! They are the cutest things EVER!! 🥰🐷🐖😍♥
Love that old Hungarian breed, Mangalica. Comes in different colours. Not soft but verry cute.
@@forrestfey love that you know the breed!! They are fab pigs and love love love the woodland, do great in our ridiculous cold winters and have been the most amazing parents to their littles 🥳
Beautiful horse, both of them. Lots of beautiful family memories, and when the kids are adults and have families of their own, they’ll be able to show them their entire childhood 🥹🥰
Please, please, please.
Find a very reputable and local trainer in your area that has experience starting horses. It's amazing that you're taking this horse in, but he is completely different from Holiday.
Having multiple trainers is a crucial part of learning about horsemanship. You will learn there are a lot of people who really don't know what they're doing. A responsible trainer wouldn't have given you a green horse with medical issues.
Now, if this is just going to be a companion horse, go for it. However, riding that horse after the signals of pain and discomfort he gave you, is a recipe for disaster.
You, or your kids could be seriously hurt just by a freak accident, and more than likely, everyone will blame the horse. Horses give signals before they finally explode. Learn to listen to those silent cues.
Have a vet evaluate him, and send him to a professional trainer if you guys intend on riding him. This is all if he is medically able to.
Horses are amazing, and they're so much fun. Please don't let your experience with them be ruined when you can take the necessary steps to make it enjoyable for horse and human.
I’ve noticed a couple things today: Your homestead has exploded with animals and interesting things over the last year or so and the boys have really stepped up to their new chores and caring for the animals. No doubt great thankful blessings! Happy Thanksgiving.
🦃🦃🦃
I think it would be a great idea for you guys to get some helmets as he is a bit green. I hope everything goes well as green horse and a green rider doesn't usually go the best. There is a saying that green and green make black and blue.
Another mention of helmets.... y does he ignore?
@@hopeblue755 I’d ignore them too
Those curly haired pigs were super cute! 🐷🐷🐷🐷💕
Thankyou! They are called Mangalitsa- an old world lard breed from Hungary! We love them!
He is such a beautiful horse.
My horse is also white ducks and she really love them❤
Try watching Free Spirit Equestrian Shae definitely knows what she’s doing and I think you guys can learn a lot from her.
It's wonderful to see your farm growth over time. Love the additions of the horses and pray everything goes smoothly with them and the emus. I have to agree with Bella on the new kitty, love them to bits. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
Sterling is very handsome, love his creme color. The squealing horse's do to each other is normal greeting stuff. It will be good company for Holiday. Love, food and training consistency will win the horse's heart's and minds. I am very glad he's ok with the Emus too . Happy Thanksgiving to your beautiful family. 😊
New horse is very beautiful.
Congratulations on the new addition ❤
Thank you!!
I love the idea of every single project you do have to do every single project it’s amazing .thanks
😊
Such truly loving people. I'm so glad you all can work together to bring dreams to life!!
Holiday's little leg kick when she gets startled is so funny😅. I'm sure she'll get more and more comfortable with Sterling over time though.
It was not that funny If it were bigger he could have hurt himself
@Equestrian_horses680 That's why I said her little leg kick. I felt like I could relate to a horse and it amused me. No one would enjoy an animal getting hurt by having a big one. Everytime my daughter startles me, I scream and jump in the air. She laughs at me. If I jumped and fell and broke my leg she wouldn't think it's funny. Nothing wrong with enjoying a little bit of personality in another living creature. Holiday wasn't out of control with it. Just lost her cool for a second.
Telling him she is the boss.
@@forrestfey right! The sass gets me😂
Horses will typically do this when they meet and Holiday was establishing her personal space boundary- Sterling yielded to her request. There is a huge benefit to him in that He was raised with his mother in a herd with other horses… there is nothing better for a young (male) horse than to be in a herd with other mares and his mama because he learned from a young age how to respect space and to have good manners. Also horses always place their feet with incredible accuracy so if she intended to make contact she would have!
Love your new additions!! It’s a little scary but I think they are lucky animals to have you as an owner!!!!
That’s excellent, Stirling looks a good horse and hopefully will bring plenty of joy to your family!
You should plant some bushes in random places in the enclosure it helps with animals not bullying each other into stress cause the emus could hide behind and under them and it makes a barrier zoos do the same in mixed enclosure’s cause out of sight out of mind for most animals
Looks quite barren as of now
Finally an advice comment not talking about helmets
Very cool that you are getting more horses. It looks like the horses are doing great, getting adjusted to your farm ! I'am amazed that they tolerate Emus, I have never seen anyone put horses together with any large birds, pretty cool experiment ! And I think you guys are doing great things, a very different type of farm than I have ever seen. Following, Take Care
Out of pure curiosity I think it would be cool if this winter you pointed a temperature gun on the coops to see how much warmer it is in there for them with the green house effect tarps you got on.
You can tell Sterlings family did not wanna give him up it’s heartbreaking 😢but you guys will give him a good old life 😊
Oh boy 😯
This is going to get interesting.
I love animals of all kinds.
It is fun watching your menagerie of animals grow 😊
Your family never stops growing 🥲
Woah that little buck!! Please use helmets since you're still learning new things about him be safe!!
She was soooo excited seeing the new horse, unbelievable cute 🥰

Wow that sterling is so beautifull and magestic! 😍
I agree!! horses like Sterling don't come along very often!!
I'm always so excited to see your videos and your beautiful family. Man I miss the farm I grew up on. You can't take the country out of the girl. I'm an old lady now and live in the city but I live vicariously thru your videos. You guys are amazing.
I so agree, old farm gal here also
Beautiful Horses. Happy Thankgiving to you all.
Sterling is a beautiful boy!!! So glad Holiday has a friend now, and hope Bamboo is ok
Sterling seems to really love you. Trying to rub at the end.❤
🦃 Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
May your day be filled with love, friends, family, fun, and lots of delicious food 🙂🦋
Two verry nice chill horses. The new horse is a little bit more high strung but not over the top. Could be that he is young and more insecure, time will tell.
The pad under the saddle protects the leather.
Sterling has a really gentle and honest nature. Will show his exuberance playing in the pasture with other horses because he is young but wouldn't describe him as highly strung. He rarely gets on adrenaline and thinks his way through situations, has never put a foot wrong under saddle. The saddle they are using is a treeless bareback pad lined with sheepskin and designed to help riders find their natural balance.
I am so happy for you! What an incredible life you’re giving your family!
A beautiful addition to your farm
A forever home in the making.....😊❤🐴
from the coming summer.. it will be like .. jake wake up in morning and come to the barn , mount the hourse and roam around the whole farm for doing chores on him .
just like an old west stories.. 😂❤❤❤❤❤
That would be a fun morning!
Love seeing these journeys~
congrats on your beautiful horses
Love that you now have horses
Sterling is so so handsome! A love a Palomino ❤❤❤
Thanks for those videos
Unique family ❤
TY for sharing. I enjoyed the careful introductions. Your children are growing up so fast. Each accepts their responsibilities well. Yes, I am sure your family will be celebrating all you have accomplished this year. There is much for which to be thankful. Thursday should be a joyful and thankful day. Happy Thanksgiving 2023.
I love your videos keep it up!!
We got a new cat today and Sterling will be an amazing horse when he’s adjusted I know it him and Holliday will get along so well!
So funny story, when the introduction to the emus and horse happened I honestly thought “huh, I don’t think horses and emus can cohabitate.” Literally two seconds later UA-cam recommended a video of an animal rescue that had emus with horses and cows. So that answered my question lol.
Congratulations everybody........
That is so amazing for you guys!
Happy for you
Every things is great... good techniques and I love your new addition to your family. But just when you were lunging him make sure to never turn your back to him... you never know what can happen when you are not looking. But overall great, and I also love your videos, keep doing what you are doing
Both of your horses are so beautiful!
Gorgeous!!!
Holiday has a crush on Sterling. Nice you have two.
Love it!!
I don't have much experience with horses, but I'd sure love to have the chance to learn allll the things about them. I do know that some horses are bred to compete against other horses in a variety of categories and events. My favorites are the fence jumpers, and the trick riders! I never say never because no one knows if or when I might get the chance to pet a horse, and maybe even feed him or her!
I love seeing your always expanding family. Thank you for sharing your lives!
Blessings! 🙏🏼❤🙏🏼
Yay your horse has a friend 🐴🐴
Wow Ive never seen woolly pigs before! Congratulations nice horse. I hope he works out for you and gives you year of enjoyment.
An old Hungarian breed, Mangalica.
So happy for you

What a beautiful horse. Good choice
Fabulous color. Tho the respiratory issue can be concerning. Needs special care & feed
We had cows on our farm as a kid, but I would have been just as excited as Isabella seeing horses. Is there another animal that beautiful? Well maybe a kitty ❤
😂
Perfect!!!!
Ohhhhhhh, your beautiful daughter will be horse crazy! 😂❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ to much cuteness!
I loved this episode!
Awsome!!!
