I remember around 2-3 years ago seeing Mark Kroos play live in a chapel in Manassas, Virginia. He was playing so, so many amazing pieces, but all I could do was sit in anticipation, hoping against hope he played this song. And when I did, I nearly about burst out crying. It was such a stellar piece already, but hearing it live from the mastermind himself-it was an experience I hope to never forget.
My father and I had a very long conversation with him after the show, where I got to know the man behind the marvel and see him for who he truly was. And who he truly was was about as amazing as his wonderful music. I left the chapel with a signed shirt, a sticker that’s still plastered onto my guitar to this day, and a feeling of the best numbness I’ve ever known.
Mark Kroos, if you read this, you are, were, and always will be a legend. Thank you for crafting some of the best couple hours of my life with your unforgettable performance.
Hey!!!! Man, this is one of the nicest comments anyone has ever left for me - thank you. Really made my day when I saw it, right at the end of this big stretch of tour we just finished. I definitely remember the conversation I had with you and your father and I’ve been trying to place your names for the past few days haha - I’m usually pretty good with them, but to be fair, it’s been 2 years since that show. How are you guys doing?
Mark Kroos It makes me happy to know you still remember us, haha. My name’s Matthew, and my father’s name is Will. To answer your question, we’ve been doing swell. We recently moved away from Virginia (4-5 months ago) down to the San Antonio area. I’m still playing guitar, and though I don’t have nearly the time or motivation to master the expert play-styles people like you utilize, at least my metal music is humming along like a well-oiled machine!
with some of the best guitarists on the planet. and they play 1 guitar, you play 2 like everyone plays one adequately. Truly amazing!!
Thanks so much for the kind words. That would be quite a challenge!
Thank YOU for listening!
Insane Insane Insanely AMAZING!!!!!! I showed this to my music class just before we started working on the guitar unit!...You can't believe the excitement it generated in a bunch of 9 year olds!
Nice, how in the world could anyone give this a thumbs down. It is great.
+David “MISFITSWITCH” Wagner the reason they gave it a thumbs down is because they are jealous
+David “MISFITSWITCH” Wagner Y'all are sweet :-) Thank you
I have been playing 20+ years and will never even try to do this 😁
Never heard of Mark Kroos until today. What an amazing young man. Very well done Mark. Thank you.
Thanks so much, Michael! I appreciate you checking out my videos :-)
Well I have watched this about 20 times now, and I'm still just blown away. And I've been playing the guitar for 30 years. Simply incredible.
Thanks, Ed!
Just rediscovered this song. Gosh Mark is crazy talented. It's one thing to be able to play like this, it's another to be able to also write such great songs.
Thanks so much, Adam! That means a lot - I'm so glad that my music can inspire new artists!
mark, i have been playing acoustic guitar for app. 40 yrs ,and i consider myself pretty good.your playing ,to me is astounding, but what impresses me almost as much are your responses to your commentors. you obviously are not only an incredible musician but also a true gentleman.take good care of those hands
hats off on this one...very nice.
Someone quick, Hire this cat, pay him LOTS of money for his amazing talent, and put him on tour so that I can come see him live!
Well I don't get all that much practice time in anymore.. mostly the shows allow for upkeep of tunes I've had for a while. Mostly for new tunes and practice, I write and arrange things that I can't play; and then I learn how to play them - lots of time practicing with a metronome very very slowly. :-) Thanks for checking out the videos!
Thanks so much, Karen! Really appreciate it.
We are so excited he's coming to Aspen at the Pitkin County Library on October 11! So so glad he found us!
I look forward to being there, Martha!
So glad you like it, Dave!
Thank you so much, Mark!
Thank you, Ronnie!
Mark- I just heard of you, and bought your album under the same name. (yeah, I still call them albums) Absolutely wonderful! When I listen to this song, I envision birds attempting to fly for the very first time; challenging at first, and then flying gracefully. Spring time. Am I close? Your devotion to music is beyond reproach.
Thanks so much, Jon!
Thanks so much Antoine!
Clearly fabulous.
Thanks, Paul!

All of your songs are awesome. Last night I was taking a study break in the physics lab and I started trying to transcribe some of this song on trumpet to play along with the recording-not even close but playing along was awesome : ) By the way I love that pause around 1:56-2:00. Thanks for all of your help and inspiring me
Haha that is a great compliment. Thank you!
Haha wow, that is dedication. :-) Thank you!
no need to thank me... i need to thank you for uploading it :))
I am speechless
Freakin' AWESOME!!!
You are one of the most talented Fingerstyle guitarists I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. As for the double neck playing, though some may disagree, I believe that you are the best, even when compared to Justin King, and the "Candyrat" artists. I've recently written a few fairly complex Fingerstyle songs and put them on youtube. Of course, when asked tags I always put in Mark Kroos for you are a true inspiration to me. God Bless.
Dude I fucking love your style! A life's work on display. Keep it up!
HOLY CRAP MARK I have had a stroke what a motivator you are you have made my week!!!!!!!

I will definitely watch for shows in Minneapolis. I'm not personally connected to any church, though my aunt is connected with a largish United church and I am connected with a large children's theatre.
I haven't followed the Weakerthans particularly closely, but I have a couple of their albums that I quite like, and I've been meaning to find more.
Thanks Alex!
You Are Awesome, I love to watch you play! HUGS

Great vid Mark! You've definitely added some more nuances since the last time I saw you play this song
Ok I'm about to see you play in a few hours at my Church. My Aunt recommended I see you because I'm learning to play. She actually bought me the guitar for my birthday. Can't wait to see!!
Amazing. Wish I could play half as good as this on one neck!
Adam, comments like this are among my favorite. I'm so glad you dig the tunes enough to play along with them! Would love to see a vid of that sometime. You rock!
