Bro you're the best out there in making builds. I use your builds for every game xD I will begin my first playthrough in WotR with this build, it's just too funny to watch. Thanks for all this awesome work

Alternate options if you don't want to lance charge: The capstone forces a crit. You can force something to happen every charge. There is a bastard sword that casts greater shout every time you crit. There is a shortbow that permanently reduces enemy AC on every crit. There's a light hammer that puts 3 rounds of haste on your whole party on every crit or kill. And I'm sure several other options. You can force any of these whenever you want with flying attack. Also a reason to use ranged attacks: You can flying attack into the enemies and both full attack. Then the hippogryph next turn walks away from the enemies, yous till full attack. Then next turn flying attack again since you're not right next to the enemies anymore. Or strongest wings if you like bullrush and are using grease/pits/vines etc. For favored enemies, you may want to pick humans first, then undead, then the three demons. Act 1 is mostly people, act 2 is mostly undead, and you only need 1 level in each to force crits at 20.
Went with Sable 1/Sohei 11/Gendarme 8 myself. While the capstone is pretty cool, I find that having all Feats you need + some cool monk stuff much more appealing. :) Anyway, very cool video as always. I've loved your build ideas for years. You deserve more views tbh!

Whilst the DR will only apply once to an attack, if the main attack does bypass DR, then the DR will affect physical damage riders. Lets say your enemy has DR 10/cold iron and you have covenant of the inheritor (a very common situation). You main attack will ignore the DR, so your medium armour damage bonus, 1d6+AC will instead be 1d6+AC-10. Suppose your medium armour is a breastplate +2 (which is probably what you have at lost chapel), your bonus damage in this situation, which medium armour focus, is 1d6-1, which is 2.5. You are only going to get the full benefit from the medium armour damage bonus if the target has no DR at all, like ghouls and cultists, or DR that is not bypassed by your main attack, like carnivorous crystals or (usually) adamantine DR as if the DR does apply to the main attack, it doesnt apply a second time to physical damage riders. For chapters 3, 4 and 5, I would guess this condition is not met the majority of the time. Obviously medium armour can be much higher than this and with medium armour focus, assault and endurance, mithral full plate +5 will give a total of 22 AC, average 25.5 damage before DR, whereas the chainmail of camaraderie will only scale up to +6 to hit and +10 to damage with magic vestment at caster level 20. But 30% higher chance to hit and 10 damage multiplied on crit and not frequently reduced by DR is way better than 25.5 damage with no bonus to hit, no crit multiplier and often and substantially reduced by DR. The life infuser, on the other hand, is 19 AC with the same feats and +4 to hit and +4/6 to damage depending on if two handing that is multiplied on crit. +4 to hit and +6 to damage + 1d6+19 damage rider is a lot more competitive with chainmail of camaraderie, though with the lower amount of damage multiplied on crit, the damage rider more often than not being heavily reduced by DR and, crucially, 10% lower chance to hit, I still think the chainmail wins out damage wise. Lets say you average 100 damage (rather conservative by endgame) and a high but not hit on all but natural 1 chance to hit, say 80%. Will you will hit 12.5% more often, meaning an extra 12.5 damage on average. With confirmation rolls, unless you have a bonus to confirm crits, then this benefit should be calculated as multiplied on crit. And this is assuming a pretty low base damage (endgame charge builds will do far more than this) and a high chance to hit, which without always having optimal buffs (and you wont in practice) may be optimistic. The bonus is therefore 22.5 on average, vs 28.5 of life infuser, but fully multiplied on crit and not subject to DR. Even DR 10 clearly swings it back in favour of camaraderie. If the chance to hit goes down and the base damage goes up, that 10% increased chance to hit is increasingly valuable, further favouring camaraderie over life infuser. And more importantly, you get the chainmail for Lost Chapel, Drezen and beyond, not right at the end of the game. Before life infuser, medium armour cannot come close damage wise. Oh and it saves you an extra mythic feat, without which, the chainmail is clearly superior even to the life infuser, at least offensively.
hey i am pretty new to pathfinder especially wotr and have been using ur videos to help me understand a lot about character building and builds since my first experience with this sort of game play was bg3 but man is path finder so much more in-depth I cant help but love it so thank u so much for putting out these videos and helping people like my self. i do have a question, however: how does the pet level work if u multiclass with cav ? does the pet still level as normal?
Hi there and thank you, the bigger options is also why I really love the Pathfinder games. The Hippogriff will still scale to full with multiclassing so long as it's a class that has full pet scaling (so you get the Pet at level 1).
i beat my first full run of the game the other day. it was certainly harrowing (i played on core and didnt use any guides) some fights had me pulling my hair out a bit but ive played table top pathfinder enough to know some tricks for things. I did it as a sable company marien myself so always interested to see how others build stuff i try
The mounted double damage effect also works with other weapons, so in my similar build I went for Fauchards and wrecked EVERYTHING. It felt FAR too strong tbh Also, you can continue to level hippogriffs with cavalier builds, so SCM 1/Gendarme 19 is insane
Great job! I wonder working passive from lv1 Ghost Rider Etheric Tether on Hippogriff?! If works-with longspear Kiss of Vampire it will be immortal build! Hippo redirects damage on rider, and rider gets hundreds(up to 2k depending on luck) temporary hp… for round… just doing damage! Yes-damage will be lover, but who cares if you immortal;)
If owlcat decide at some point fixing this class it's going to be very good. On turn based mode is bugged. If you use the flying ability, neither you or your pet attacks. If you use your pet ability it attacks but you only attack once. You don't get a full attack unless you have pounce and owlcat broke beast totem lesser a few patches ago (monks for example get their fists replaced with claws and any kind of shifter build including pets suffer the same fate). A trickster build can at knowledge world 3 give all pets greater trip so you can generate lots of critical AOO's at level 20. Spirited charge isn't working either despite the description stating that flying attack is a charge attack.
I just got the game so correct me if I’m wrong but if you only put one level into sable company marine wouldn’t your pet not level up again and be really weak?
Do you happen to know if you can continue your hippogriff advancement if you play a Druid, animal domain cleric, or Nature oracle? If so I would think that would be an amazing Angel.
flying charge doesn't work from character action panel. it will work from hippo panel but doesn't count as a charge, doesn't trigger charge bonuses like Spirited charge
Regarding favoured enemies, shouldn't you make sure to max at least 1 enemy type and not split your bonuses? Instant enemy can be applied to targets who have lesser favoured enemy bonuses and applies the highest single bonus you have. If you picked a specific demon type every time, then any target of favoured enemy would given +10 to hit and damage for you and your animal companion (as well as all enemies of that type even without favoured enemy). In your build, you have +4 to hit and damage vs two types of demons and +6 to hit and damage vs the third and +2 against two other enemy types. Instant enemy will therefore only apply a +6 bonus against its target, rather than +10. Granted, instant enemy is limited in use, but its there when it matters. And even spreading the bonuses as you have, you are not getting great benefit when not using instant enemy. You could still get a +2 bonus to both other demon types whilst maxing a third. Is an extra +2 to hit and damage against the two other demon types without using instant enemy worth the loss of +4 to hit and damage when you do use favoured enemy against them and any other enemy type, as well the further +4 bonus all the time to the preferred demon type?
I suppose it could be more optimal indeed. It's just that personally I find it rather boring to constantly activate Instant Enemy (meanwhile I do love the Bane of Spirit haha).
You need to use table top tweaks mod for this to work on turn base mode, long spear charge and spirited charge are still broken and owl cat still have not fixed them, long spear don't work on flying attack, spirited charge stop working mid game, in rtwp no problem but in trun base it's a mess
Sable is great as a 1 or two level dip for the great pet at start. Other classes have way better abilities and progression though. You get more stuff and mileage by going cavelier disciple of the pike or arcane rider for a one-shot charge build, paladin with pet for overall goodness, sohei or huntsmaster for robustness and great feats, and lastly even with something like oracle or shaman or sylvan sorcerer you can still get the griffon via dip and be a full spellcaster with self buffs to boot.
Yes, which is why I mentioned the multiclassing options early. I just felt it would be very disappointing to release a Sable Company Marine Guide... but only pick 1 level of it 😀
@@cRPGBro Yeah I understand..the game can be quite complex especially when scrambling together multiclass combos that work. So for anyone playing on core or hard even just single class is probably safest to go at a first try. And ranger is not bad at all really, just other riding classes do have more goodies in the pack.
Demon has Aspect of Kalavakus which provides a free attack on Combat Maneuvers, and also adds free Disarm (which is a Combat Maneuver) on Charge. Mounted Characters always want to Charge due to up to 3x Damage (Spirited Charge + Spear type Weapon). So you'll get a free attack with Kalavakus, AND if you're a Gendarme Cavalier, the main Mounted Combat Class, you also have more free Maneuvers on Charge = more free attacks!
It's honestly the same feat selection, but for Aeon it might be best to go 1 Sable Company, rest into Sohei Monk and keep Lawful Alignment. I already have a Sohei Monk Build that can be used as a base here: ua-cam.com/video/FQy--mmxGz4/v-deo.html
I’m having fun now that the new update is finally on console I made my kinetic sharpshooter have a child of the manticore dip so my kinetic blast can scale off natural weapon bonuses and finna make it a Demon 😈🔥🔥
Honestly the feat selection will mostly be the same, as we already got the best ones with this build. But ideally just 1 level of Sable Marine, the rest into either Sohei or Gendarme. I already have standalone guides for both of these classes that you can use as base if you prefer.
I am thinking turning seelah into this. Is this viable? I mean does sabre strike mean that much at lvl 20? Or 1 paladin, 19 sable marine is good to go with? Or 11 paladin, 1 sable marine and the rest what i want to do with?
It is viable, but for Seelah I would really recommend just one level in it for the Hippogriff pet instead of Horse, because Paladin's Mark of Justice is really good! At least until you get it.
I prefer sand marine 1 > Hunter (like judgment). Share teamwork feats, more magic buff and judgment buffs for you & your pet. One day, need to try cavalier.
@@cRPGBro Shouldn't vital strike work nicely with your build since you take cleaving feats ? (for when you can't charge like boss battles). HUnter should allow loremaster for greater vital strike. Perhaps a rowdy 1 dip and use inquisitor with sneak attack instead.
@@cRPGBrolove the guides bro, But small question: could you potentially add in more “this gear early on, then this.” Most of these build are great, but I’m usually a little lost on gear till end game
Sable Company Marine feels like it would be completely insane with Legend. Why bother needing to pick between Sable Strike and Cavalier/Sohei bonuses when you can just take both? :)
Yep, all the gameplay footage was recorded yesterday. I did notice that sometimes you don't get the bonus if you choose to Charge with the Hippogriff though, so it's better to always initiate it via the main character as the pet will follow afterwards.
@@cRPGBro Did you mention anywhere on the vid ( sorry if i missed ), that as of today current patch, flying charge DOES NOT apply full round of attacks for melee ? Only does if you go ranged...
Your hippogriff is only getting outflank at level 7, so your main character should also be getting outflank at level 7 as well? It's more optimized to swap and get lunge at level 5 instead?
Is better than 20 SCM, Gendarme and Sohei the best dips by far, in fact SCM is the dip. I wanted to run gendarme but not with the horse, oh boy.. since Flying Attack still not works properly ( no full round of attacks or charge bonuses applied correctly, unlike description says ), i do a normal charge 1st then Dive bomb into a ranged/mage a mile away, or go after that melee going for the squishies on my back line.
It's the same feats, to be fair, as this build already gets the best Melee + Mounted ones. Diffference is as Gendarme for example you'd get more feats, you can get into Shatter Defenses with Weapon Focus & Dazzling Display.
@@cRPGBro can I build the hippogriff as a bully and I was looking at class progression of the gendarme and is 5 sable/15 gendarme good cause the last five levels of gendarme don’t seem to give much this way I get 2 favoured enemy’s and a unique wing attack
I recently got into extended merged spellbok mod so that every mythic can merge and it opens so many new and fun builds. Makes me kinda sad that Owlcat didn't implement it for anyone except lich and angel
Yeah I very much liked the idea that a modder did a while ago that let you merge with classes that the mythic path fit with. So: inquisitor could merge with aeon, bloodrager and maybe skald could merge with demon, bard could merge with Azata etc.
Personally I would really have liked if that was available for all Mythics too! Or at least let non merged increase their Mythic Slots through Abundant Casting.
If you mostly play on turn-based I'd skip on the improved initiative. When mounted, your pet acts on the same initiative as the rider. So improved initiative does nothing for you then. Not super relevant, but frees you up a feat.
I will be honest here this class is pretty crap. SCM is better as a dip for Sohei or some sorts of mounted charge build because the Hippogriff is REALLY squishy. You need a hella lot to make it work and even so the Hippogriff is very useless until around level 7 or so, with crap AC and a very clunky model (it gets stuck in tiny space quite a lot). If you really want a charge build then I think the Elk is the best pet, as long as you have a swift tp ability or sth similar. The Hippogriff is only worth it in Core and ONLY if you have Sohei for mounted shield, and even then I would not run this thing on Unfair because it MELTS to even the weakest of mobs. I think it is only good for the cool factor, in practive a DEX scaling pet needs so much time and efforts to make it work, so I would rather respec a companion or hire a merc for a Hippogriff rider build tbh.
I agree that the abilities past level 1 aren't that good. But the Hippogriff can hold its ground with buffs, especially after Protective Luck, and the fact you have such powerful Alpha Strikes in Mounted Combat that even on the Maze on Unfair you're deleting whole enemies as early as battle starts = less enemies left to hit you after. Main issue with Elk is it requires level 7 to ride properly for most races, unless you want to use Reduce Person, but it does have tasty AC.
The class itself is mid but the griffon is great...especially on unfair where you want to end encounters round 1-2. Because a proper griffon rider can ignore walls/ terrain go directly and kill backline mages/ archers immediately.

Magic Deceiver next plz
Can you be an archer with this class? Or will you constantly provoke opportunity attacks or something with regular archery
hey i am pretty new to pathfinder especially wotr and have been using ur videos to help me understand a lot about character building and builds since my first experience with this sort of game play was bg3 but man is path finder so much more in-depth I cant help but love it so thank u so much for putting out these videos and helping people like my self.
i do have a question, however: how does the pet level work if u multiclass with cav ? does the pet still level as normal?
Hi there and thank you, the bigger options is also why I really love the Pathfinder games.
The Hippogriff will still scale to full with multiclassing so long as it's a class that has full pet scaling (so you get the Pet at level 1).
2:39 Does that actually work properly? My mounted ranger only gets 1 melee attack and not a full attack.
Can I do this build with an Archer build instead? Or can u recommend a good archer build with this latest patch? Thanks, love your vids!
i beat my first full run of the game the other day. it was certainly harrowing (i played on core and didnt use any guides) some fights had me pulling my hair out a bit but ive played table top pathfinder enough to know some tricks for things. I did it as a sable company marien myself so always interested to see how others build stuff i try
Could you do a build on the prophet of pestilence? Im interested if it could be good with your insights into builds.
Yep, it's been on my mind for a while!
Thinking of playing this build for my first unfair run which party members should I use with it?
This is a really tasty archetype, do you think it would do well with a trickster/legend mythic path?
Also the worst thing about flying attack is that the hippogriff just blocks the target with its model, so I can't target it...
The mounted double damage effect also works with other weapons, so in my similar build I went for Fauchards and wrecked EVERYTHING. It felt FAR too strong tbh
Also, you can continue to level hippogriffs with cavalier builds, so SCM 1/Gendarme 19 is insane
Yep, it's just that with Spears it's even higher!
Sounds like fun! I'm planning on a full Ghost Rider Guide with Lich soon.
Switch off auto turn end, it fixes the bug.
So, why can't you use Angel on this build? I'd love to do Angel but I imagine it doesn't matter so much if I'm just doing core difficulty??
I just got the game so correct me if I’m wrong but if you only put one level into sable company marine wouldn’t your pet not level up again and be really weak?
Looks fun AND powerful. And you can fly out of Kenabres at level 1 and never look back 🤣🤣
Yep, all the added bonuses of having a flying pet!
I wanted to try a 1 Sable company marine/x (19 prob) Arcane rider. Fun pet anyway if balance all over the place :)
Nice video!
Do you happen to know if you can continue your hippogriff advancement if you play a Druid, animal domain cleric, or Nature oracle? If so I would think that would be an amazing Angel.
yes any class with pet can continue hippo progression. you just have to take that ranger level first and gt the hippo as your pet.
Yep, which is why the level 1 dip will work.
Hi, starting through the ashes dlc. Find my main char. Great content as always!
Thank you!
Shatter Defenses is not worth it anymore? On any build?
It's not that necessary anymore but can be worth it if the build has the feats to spare.
will angle work too? i know you said its not recommended but thematically angle fits better than demon
What's your favourite/strongest mounted build from your vids?
Gendarme Cavalier! Especially as either Trickster or Trickster > Legend.
@@cRPGBro Thanks for the response. Out of interest what's your favorite shifter class?
Does the hippogryff not have a high enough int at even level one without buffing int at all?
flying charge doesn't work from character action panel. it will work from hippo panel but doesn't count as a charge, doesn't trigger charge bonuses like Spirited charge
That mass coned bullrush is great for a ranged build though... can still full attack with PC after Griff uses it.
i want to use sable marine with Lann or Seelah what are you thaughts?
Just athletics and mobility for the griffon?😊
Why angel is bad? I’m noob at this game, started to build sable marin angel
Back into WOTR after a year gone, was this archetype added in an update or a specific DLC?
Latest DLC, A Dance of Masks.
No more shattered defenses?
Nope, a snow it requires you to hit the enemy first only to get the effect on following attacks.
I have 1 Q. Are those new builds you show from last dlc? I have enhanced edition only
Yep, from the A Dance of Masks DLC.
why demon is good for mounted battle?
Demon has Aspect of Kalavakus which provides a free attack on Combat Maneuvers, and also adds free Disarm (which is a Combat Maneuver) on Charge.
Mounted Characters always want to Charge due to up to 3x Damage (Spirited Charge + Spear type Weapon).
So you'll get a free attack with Kalavakus, AND if you're a Gendarme Cavalier, the main Mounted Combat Class, you also have more free Maneuvers on Charge = more free attacks!
@@cRPGBro thx
Wow great video!! How will you build it with aeon??
It's honestly the same feat selection, but for Aeon it might be best to go 1 Sable Company, rest into Sohei Monk and keep Lawful Alignment.
I already have a Sohei Monk Build that can be used as a base here: ua-cam.com/video/FQy--mmxGz4/v-deo.html
Could you mix that with Titan Fighter 3 Lvls with double longspear? And taking boon companion.
Sadly your charge would only use the mainhand hit. So there's little point to multiclassing like this.
I believe it's possible but for Charge it's much better to go 2H.
Can you PLEASE make a build for Bladebound Magus? Your builds are just insane and too fun to make. I need one for bladebound as well!
It's been on my mind, especially for Lich!
@@cRPGBro how awesome! Can’t wait for that!!!
I’m having fun now that the new update is finally on console I made my kinetic sharpshooter have a child of the manticore dip so my kinetic blast can scale off natural weapon bonuses and finna make it a Demon 😈🔥🔥
Nice! That does give me a few ideas.
@@cRPGBro giving the legend himself build ideas was not on my bucket list but I’m honored ☺️💯
Can you make the build with sable marine for the starting class but multiclassed into something else?
Honestly the feat selection will mostly be the same, as we already got the best ones with this build.
But ideally just 1 level of Sable Marine, the rest into either Sohei or Gendarme.
I already have standalone guides for both of these classes that you can use as base if you prefer.
Awesome thank you!
Judgements are really good in Wrath due to the infinite uses!
Favourite demon build?
Looookin good. And demon?! Love it.
Demon is really good for Mounted Combat!
@@cRPGBrolove the guides bro,
But small question: could you potentially add in more “this gear early on, then this.”
Most of these build are great, but I’m usually a little lost on gear till end game
Has anyone an up to date build with Gendarme? :)
does lann and his zen archer have the potential for sable company marine?
Yes, because the class does support mounted ranged attacks, but I personally prefer Melee because the Charge bonuses are really good!
Sable Company Marine feels like it would be completely insane with Legend. Why bother needing to pick between Sable Strike and Cavalier/Sohei bonuses when you can just take both? :)
It will! But Legend is often overkill, haha.
I don't know what Deity to pick
I think the title may have been forgotten
Edit: was already fixed before I made the comment lol
Yep, I rolled high on Initiative thankfully!
You haven't said that hippo gets free trip on enemies in 5 feet radius when he divebombs, its really good
Yep, especially when sharing Aspect of Kalavakus with it!
You sure about spears doing additional damage in the current patch? I never get any extra multiplier.
Yep, all the gameplay footage was recorded yesterday.
I did notice that sometimes you don't get the bonus if you choose to Charge with the Hippogriff though, so it's better to always initiate it via the main character as the pet will follow afterwards.
@@cRPGBro And... now it works for me too. Not sure what my issue was previously. Anyway, great stuff, keep it up!
Other party members can get it at lvl5, tho.
It's mostly that Lunge requires 6 BAB, so it's better to pick Outflank earlier for characters that can as to get Lunge as early as level 7!
@@cRPGBro I see, its make more sense now.
How would 1 level sable company + 19 levels mad dog barb stack up?
It would be pretty good as Mad Dog is one of the best Barbarian archetypes!
How’d this work as the multi class like with feats
Sadly, full-round attack doesn't work for my dual-wielding marine. :c
I haven't really tried it with Dual Wielding.
At least the Flying Attack doesn't actually require 6s of charging to activate.
Noob player here, why wouldn't you suggest Angel?
Im alone who is flying attack dont work
Wrath of the Pets 😅😅❤
Wrath of the Hippogriffs!
damn it he can't keep doing this
time to do another playthrough :(
I recently got into extended merged spellbok mod so that every mythic can merge and it opens so many new and fun builds.
How metal is it to see a demon lord atop a giant hippogryph????
Pity we can't do it in Balor form, I tested and it works for a bit but you soon get forced out of the pet after battle ends.
@@cRPGBro sucks, but oh well, MC in Hellknight armor is good enough
Nice
If you mostly play on turn-based I'd skip on the improved initiative. When mounted, your pet acts on the same initiative as the rider. So improved initiative does nothing for you then. Not super relevant, but frees you up a feat.
Well then I know what I'm making lann/wenduag on my kinectist run
It's fun for them! But I prefer it as Melee for the huge Charge bonuses.
Flying attack is not doing damage
Swear I read "Space" 😂
Well... it would definitely be fun if we had pets in Rogue Trader and could ride them haha!
Lopez Michael Rodriguez Larry Martin Christopher
i love the sable company marine but the charge bonuses are so insanely buggy that it is not worth it to play or build around them i think...
Martin Dorothy Jones Anthony Johnson Lisa
Lewis Michael Jackson William Robinson Joseph
I dont think its a good depiction of a build when you are showing gameplay running with 3 mercs.
Because a proper griffon rider can ignore walls/ terrain go directly and kill backline mages/ archers immediately.
mas quando eu uso o fly atack eu do apenas um ataque
