After being armed with knowledge of your mercenary and companion builds, the current biggest problem I'm facing with my playthroughs is that the party simply isn't big enough to fit all of the cool characters I want to use.
Let's just appreciate the Daeran yeeting the succubus out of the map at 13:26 Also perfect timing since I was actually wondering about the synergies and team building
Just wanted to say there is an amazing amount of easy to understand info here, really adding to my enjoyment of my first playthrough of Wrath. Looking forward to checking out all your video's for this game. Subscribed!
I just want to know if lich undead companions can receive morale bonuses or not. In the tabletop version they would not be able to, but none of the crpg guides say either way. Kind of maddening in fact.
so what i'm getting from this video is that I should have a balanced party of paladin wenduag, cleric wenduag, pet wenduag, shaman wenduag, oracle wenduag, and skald wenduag
I use the "Fully Respec NPC Companions" mod, so that I don't have to be limited to their default classes. If you were to use such a mod, what would be your absolute dream team, w/ a good-aligned Mythic Path (Angel, Azata, etc)?
That can be nice indeed. I would have preferred if the companions were at least like in Deadfire where they usually all came at level 1 for almost maximum customization. For mostly good aligned only party members, I'd say: 1. Angel Oracle MC 2. Seelah as Paladin, as she already is 3. Aru as Demonslayer Ranger 4. Ember as Skald (reach weapon can work even for her with penalty to STR and Witch Curse due to higher melee bonuses to AB, or go with Throwing Axes Dual Wield) 5. Sosiel as Ecclesitheurge Cleric, Erastil with Animal + Community Domains at the start 6. Lann as Divine Hound per my most recent Build for him or you can have him melee as Aru will cover the ranged part already. The only thing this party misses is Hexes, which I wouldn't say are needed unless you were on Unfair. In that case you can make Aru a Skald and personally I'd rather have Ember a Shaman to replace Cam.
That's definitely a good idea, I hate it when games don't let you respec companions. (Remember how long it took to make Mission Vao in KotOR worth a damn because the designers didn't know how scoundrels worked?)
@@cRPGBro I thought I recall you mention in another video that Skalds were better than Bards but only for melee heavy parties. Your recommendation above has 2 ranged (Lann and Aru). Would you switch to a Bard for that party comp or stay with the Skald?
For all those commenters looking for an alternative to "all melee" (because it does get too crowded in small spaces with all those big animals). Nenio and Ember are fantastic spellcasters if you build their spell penetration feat line and make sure they can overcome enemy spell resists. It will require more knowledge about the game and understanding which enemies have weak saves for what (Save or Die). As Nenio is really good at Illusions... learn to love Phantasmal Killer and similar spells. Also many Conjuration spells don't have spell resistance... learn the spells and use them wisely. This is for people that want to dive deeeeeep into Pathfinder RPG rules and mechanics. I prefer Ember for hexes over creepy Camellia (her personality is *ugh*). Give Ember the mythic "bypass fire resist" and have her use her fire spells she gets for being Ember. Also offensive hexes are great... Sleep the nasty guy and coup de grace the sleepy victim (this does not work with auto AI attacking, as some random toon will auto-normal-attack with pew-pew and wake up sleeping-beauty with measly dmg). Also: hexes don't have spell resistance problems... just boost your save DC and have fun. I turned Lann into a Hunter (so 3 Zen Archer, which is fine and then go full hunter), so he gets a Domain and all the Mythic Domain goodies (no whiny Sosiel for me, thanks). Also gives me access to a bunch of nice Druid/Ranger only buffs. And as a Hunter, Lann gets a pet (take nature's bond feat...), I took the Elk for fun times... watching the Elk charge with his powerful antler gore attack is hilarious... but you could also go with Leopard/Wolf/Dog for tripping your enemies and thus keep your back line safe. When I don't take Lann I take Arue (whom I turned into a Arcane Archer - like toon), or Woljif (whom I turned into a great Alchemist, - again - take the anti-element-resist-mythic thing, also
Nice, I'm really glad I was able to help you enjoy the game. Wrath might be a bit hard to get into due to some of the more complex mechanics but it really is blast to play!
It's a bit complicated to play with Cam if ur character is not CE. I am playing using your builds with Scald(MC), Seelah, Regill, Daeran, Ember and Lann. And the most annoying part - Ember and MC are so slow and rest of my mounted party always should wait for them. I'm playing on Hard and with your builds it looks like children trip. If we speak about party composition I can suggest to take Regill on Sosiel's quest because he generates amazing dialogs with interesting thoughts.
@@cRPGBro what an amazing job. I would LOVE some guides of full party builds for different mythic paths: which companions work better and a general view on how to properly build them together. Again, thanks for sharing all your knowledge
I'd like this as well. Preferably constraining companion selection to preferable or at least neutral alignments. When playing Evil it breaks immersion to continue having a paladin in the party.
Hello, thank you so much for your guides, they helped me a lot in mastering this difficult game. I would like to know if you are going to stream games here or on Twitch?
I'm really glad I managed to help you have fun with the game! I have streamed Wrath of the Righteous sometimes, perhaps if there's enough interest I'll resume the streams 😃
I've got a question, with your optimal party, who's gonna be the arcane speller caster? Also who's gonna be your high Int/wis character to met the check for knowledge/lore/perception?
Skald doesn't get Mage Armor though. This is my biggest conundrum with the suggested line-up. At least early game, missing out on extra 4AC on the animal tanks seems really bad@@perrin13
I really want to do the angel playthrough with a support type character like a skald or a bard, but their spell books don't merge, so I wanted to ask what are your thoughts about Martyr paladin? Also a good party composition for an angel run support MC (whether it be bard, skald, or Martyr)?
I'm in agreement that melee is just the way to go in this game. Casters aren't nearly as strong since they dont have many of the OP spells that exist in the pathfinder universe. No spell turn, no contingency, no time stop, no simulacrum, no sequencer, but oh, we gave you polar ray. ... lol. Also mobs have too much of a laundry list of immunities, but against physical attacks its rare that they are immune (i think the only case is if they're incorporeal and you dont have ghost weapon attribute is about the only case). Spells in this game have to get through so much BS in order to be effective that honestly its just not worth the hassle, while all melee has to do is focus on AB with outflank and you'll be fine if you're riding on a pet. I run with an arcane rider instead of a skald to supply my team the arcane buffs they need like haste and cats grace. It won't add as much damage as a skald does, but its much safer because unless I make a skald ranged, he dies a lot on hard difficulty due to no pet access. It also works great on woljif with a 4scoundrel/16 arcane rider build. In the early game I take nenio over woljif just for haste and then replace her with woljif when he comes back in act 3.
Indeed. I think overall it's far easier to prebuff + attack than go for spells. Spells tend to have low damage/low damage cap besides Mythic Lich and Angel ones, have to bypass SR, allow saves and such... For melee Skald survivability, I recommend focusing on Reach Weapons such as Fauchard, and then also casting Enlarge/Legendary Proportions for even higher reach. Arcane Rider is amazing too, mostly because sharing the Magus Abilities with the Horse, especially the ultra powerful Dimension Strike is crazy!
Hi, thank you for your guides. This full melee party rips through all the content of the game in hard mode but has a huge flaw: the swarms. Indeed, the swarms, especially those of ticks, are impossible to kill,, or rather to survive against in melee combat I should say, in hard mode. To the west of Drezen, just after recovering the city, there is a mini boss, Thraz The Spinebreaker, with several tick swarms. To me, even in a group with a lot of AOE damage spells, these swarms are the real bosses of Pathfinder games. You can only get away with cheesing these fights (pull from distance with maximum damage and kill them before they reach you). The swarms in Pathfinder Kingmajer were already too powerful, it's worse in WotR. In Kingmaker it wasn't too bad thanks to the bomb-throwing alchemist companion everyone took with them. I think Owlcat should do something about these swarms. The use of fireball wands or scrolls is not enough, you'll need sirroco scrolls launched by Nenio (only person capable at this point around lvl11) and Ember's fire power to tackle this. Heighten/empower damage spells do well against these enemies in hard/unfair modes but there is always a need to never get into melee for one round with these enemies.
For Swarms, there is a very easy trick when it comes to melee parties: the highly powerful Bane of Spirit Ring! It can easily convert ALL the damage from ALL your party at once into irresistible Force, which easily wrecks Swarms for full damage! It can also be found rather early right at the beginning of Chapter 3 as a Crusade Relic: ua-cam.com/video/l4PSb_2gXyY/v-deo.html
@cRPGBro your guides broke me out of choice paralysis and have been of great help.😅 Btw could you clear up one confusing detail concerning True Seeing and illusion spells? The fextralife wiki TS page says that contrary to the description true seeing doesn't work against concealment from Blur and Dusplacement. Is it true?
this is a great video, I'm just starting with Pathfinder Wotr and it can indeed be quite overwhelming. What I really don't get is the rest mechanic, resting takes A LOT of time, easily 2+ full in game DAYS. I have found one quick walkthrough that suggest you do this and that on day 1, afterwards other stuff on day 2 etc. and I can't wrap my head around how am I supposed to do this, since after a couple of fights I'll run out of healing potions and only thing that's left is resting, which basically means a day or two are lost. And I haven't even finished the market square. Can someone please tell me if I'm missing something? Is "wasting" money on healing potions the way to go in this game, or is the fact that many days can go by when resting totally irrelevant in the game? For example, does it matter if I take 40 days until I finish a chapter or is there a reason to rest as little as possible?
@@timhsieh8171 It does work, i can't post a link but search for "WOTR respec mod github" Update: the game updated today, the mod was updated up to the previous update, so maybe check tomorrow or in a few days.
Honestly, you lose Seelah but it's super late at Chapter 5 Mythic 9 only, so she can still be extremely useful until then. The Queen is a Bard by default, so you can use her, although I'd rather other undead allies like Kestoglyr, Delamere or Ciar.
I refuse to use Camelia. Ember has the hexes and healing, Sosiel and Dearan can buff, Woljif and Arushaelae have the great trickery scores + the powerful damage, and none of them are Jeffrey Dahmer.
No problem! Ember can definitely provide the best Hexes and even one that Cam doesn't, Beast's Gift, for an extra Bite attack to everyone. I also especially enjoy my Enchantment DC caster build for her focused on crowd control so she can fill a different niche than melee Cam:ua-cam.com/video/ErpqRegmjCw/v-deo.html It's just that I find Cam's spellbook to be better overall with more useful buffs.
@@cRPGBro I agree Cam is better than ember, but I feel no remorse benching a powerful party member if I don't have to deal with murder and canibalism lol
Right there with you 💯. Regardless of a MC's alignment I choose for any given play through, I hardly use Camelia at all. Thankfully, this game provides options!
restarted again lol, forgot her home in the city.with her dad. hope it doesn't matter, just want to get on with the game for once hehe. so overwhelming. using cam, see, lann, myself, wol and one variable character depending on missiln / location. just started act2 (again) and angel path. hope it goes well now lol
Mark of Justice does not work on Seelah or Caster. Also, Swift Action according to the PF ruleset, you can only have 1 Swift Action per turn. That means if Seelah were to cast both Mark of Justice and Smite Evil it will takes 2 turns.
You are correct that it will not enhance Seelah's own attacks but on the other hand boosting your whole party, including summons & pets with the Smite Evil power up is crazy powerful!
Hi there, and thank you! I honestly believe the best party is still the same as usual as I cover in my Best Party Guide here: ua-cam.com/video/x8Sc_Op3bdA/v-deo.html Because Merged Liches have very fast spell progression & many spell slots, meaning you can easily buff most/all living allies with the Blessing of Unlife spell for heals with negative energy & undead immunities. If you mean the Undead Companions, I have a guide for them here: ua-cam.com/video/lRmz4j6taPs/v-deo.html But the best ones are defintely Cyar & Kestoglyr!
Personally, Demonslayer Ranger. I think it fits her quite nicely lore wise, doesn't stay much away from her initial character concept , she can still go ranged BUT also gets a powerful pet and also Favored Enemy into ALL demons for free! Now for something very different, she's also a great choice for a pure Skald.
Hi. The most amazing videos regarding the game. Thanks. One question, I’m following your suggestion regarding the MC (Angel Oracle for everything) , any change from this list of companions? Still in act 1 and I’m liking the Woljif).
Thank you! For Angel Oracle, I would just ignore Daeran as you're already covering his role, so Seelah + Cam + Sosiel (Chapter 2) + Lann/Wenduag for ranged, and then a Skald merc. You can have Woljif too if you prefer instead of Lann & Wenduag.
@@cRPGBro thanks. I read the skald guide and I think I will restart as one. Seems a lot of fun, and it’s the alignment that I like more. Continue with the great guides!!!
It can be amazing indeed as I have explained in my Brown Fur Guide: ua-cam.com/video/tzqbT5wYhd8/v-deo.html It's just that for this Guide I wanted to focus mostly on Story Companions, but Skald is too good to pass!
So that's why Seelah us so OP xD and here I was using her mostly as a shielded tank to agro enemies...as much as I could anyways. In other words, I would like your input on this mercenary based party comp. So my MC is doing a feyshifter trickster into legend (following your guide but with some tweaks here and there). As for mercenaries, I got a winter witch for hexes and ST spell damage, a sylvan sorcerer for pet and crowd control, a ranged bard and a meele skald and finslly a meele based oracle with a pet. Oracle is there for buffs and support/healing mostly so im focusing strength on them. Or would charisma be better for some of their latter spells? Also, when building the bard and skald, I know that some of their songs/stances overlap and wont stack, so are there any I should watch out for other than song of courage and l lethal stance? Spell wise I'm gonna have them focus on different spells to cover a greater variety...or as much as I can xD Other than that...any hope for more mercenary build videos? P.s apparently half elf into kindred raises is fantastic fot charisma based clases as mercenary, you dont have to lower any other stats in some cases, or at most you leave wis/Int at 8 haha
For Bard, there isn't really much of a point in keeping Bard + Skald on the same group, and they even share the same spellbook. The Skald kinda outclasses it! And yeah, Inspire Courage would basically only provide +damage if combined with Lethal Stance, but I suppose it also frees the Skald Stance for something else like the AC one instead, so you can get both high party wide +ab/damage AND AC. I'm thinking about more Merc Guides, and what fun builds to make with them 😃
@@cRPGBro I see. Then perhaps I'll switch the bard over to a druid drovier for those animal aspects...and pet of course. 1 dog, a wolf and a centepede bc why not. Keep him ranged as well. Yhea merc guides would be helpful tbh. I've been trying to adapt some of your builds over to mercs and it's kind of hard in some cases. Kitsune, half-elf and Human are my top choices with race selection as mercs :p
Hi there, and thank you! If you don't want to use a Skald Merc and would prefer another story party member, that's going to depend on what role your main character is covering. You can go with Aru/Lann/Wenduag for more ranged support, Nenio for more arcane spells/buffs, or Regill for more melee damage. You can also make the main character a Skald, it's a very powerful choice with almost any Mythic Path.
Team is really great, but It's tough to balance what ranks to put where for who. I just put nenio or woljiff in the group over skald (can't afford merc right now anyway) because either of them fill the gaps in skills and can scribe or potion. Nenio.
I made a Shaman 6/ Brown Fur 4/ Mythic Theurge 10 character that kicks ass. I cheat and get an auto clicker program that use that to auto chant and give every one 30 minutes of fortune and protective luck along with up to level 7 spells for my brown fur to use along with powerful change. Also I use Arue as my skald I use a mod to repec her back to level 1.
i mostly hire mercs in this game. i personally cant stand about 60% of the characters you get in your party if not more. i never played kingmaker, were the characters in that one so unlikeable too?
Ulbrig works best as another source of damage. His special charge is best at "sniping" problematic targets that stay at the back and might be blocked by melee enemies such as casters and ranged. However, while Ulbrig can achieve decent AC when buffed, early game he won't have that, so you also need to be careful about sending him alone to the enemies at the back, preferably after the front enemies have targetted your tanks/other allies already. Do note that Ulbrig STILL retains access to the normal Charge, so you can also charge with him at melee just fine.
I'm always surprised by the *massive* difference in power between 95% of battles and the battles once per day buff/10 minutes per day buffs people recommend in building parties. It's not fun for me to be 20% as effective in most battles, even to the point of dedicating a 3rd divine slot (cleric that can't provide divine buffs) for 1 battle a day. I'm probably gonna give this a go for my demon Kineticist run (another thing that seems strange to me -- many people are convinced that Demon is by far the best mythic for a kineticist due to its synergy with Rages, but like most domains - its very limited in uses/ day. If you're building your entire party to grow 80% more effective in 1/2 battles/day, it's almost redundant to have a mythic path that only provides boosts during those battles, so I would think a different mythic path that provides boosts more frequently would be a stronger one, especially on a class that otherwise doesn't have limited resources.)
I've been wondering what are the best way to support nenio's illusions? I have all three spell penetration feats/mythic ability and some buffs like that amulet of clarity but I need something to reduce enemy will saving throws how do I do that?
I read persistent metamagic is great for phantasmal killer and weird as it makes enemies roll twice and takes the worst result but I feel I need something else as well
I recently started playing wrath a few weeks ago on PS4, load times are atrocious btw, but any I have woljif on my party and recently got the ever old crossbow, a crossbow that gives it's user the manyshot feat just by having it equipped and I got woljif the wearying strike feat, and because he's a rogue character he's really fast meaning he pretty much always moves first to prock sneak attacks wearying strike applies -1 con damage for every hit that's a sneak attack so bottom line I can just delete one enemy, at the start of any combat , that I don't like it's insane, right now his damage is around 35 per hit he shoots twice if I don't move him(as a full-round action) and each shot fires two bolts so that's around 120~ or so damage plus the con damage health reduction is just so strong
It's a great Crossbow indeed, as it removes the main weakness of Crossbows vs Bows due to the lack of Manyshot! I actually have a full Crossbow Build that uses it to great effect here: ua-cam.com/video/hMTsO-9wlkQ/v-deo.html
I'm mid game during Chapter 3, this is my party for the most part: Oracle Angel with Grave Singer Seelah as a Paladin Daeran Duel-Wielding Sosiel as ecclesitheurge Camilia as a Shaman Aru as a Sniper But soon enough Camellia is going to leave... I've been thinking to turn Aru into a Skald... The whole demon rage + singing is just her. Maybe court poet? Her as a bard type of character reminds me of Leliana from Dragon Age: Origins. But who will replace Camilia for the Witch buffs and de-buffs AND off DPS? Maybe Woljif as a brown fur? I do like his character a lot. Running on Core difficulty, may bump it into Hard as I'm pretty much destroying everything.
Makes me chuckle a little bit that you said Camellia, Sosiel and Seelah are the cornerstones of the party. I don't use any of them, ever. I can't stand their personalities, I'm usually playing neutral or evil, and it feels like I have to 'work' to make them effective. Especially Camellia. My party usually has Regill, Wenduag + Pet, Arue, Ember, Daeran + Pet. That said, my first run was Hellknight lawful/evil (aeon). Next runs are looking like Inquisitor lawful/evil (devil), and Slayer chaotic/neutral (demon).
Yep, you can just select the "Accept Rage On/Off" ability that any character has in the ability tab. It works instantly and will turn off the Rage for that character only, while letting them cast spells, you can just select it later again to accept Rage back when you don't need to cast spells anymore. Once your Skald hits level 20, you can also Rage + cast spells at the same time. Happens a bit late, but it's good to have regardless.
So my party consists of me (Inquisitor) Lann, Darren, Sosiel, Camille and seela...do I need the skald cause I would know who I could substitute anyone for him.
@@cRPGBro thank you for your quick reply. The only reason I was bringing in Lann was for the extra animal. I've built my party as all your guides suggested on Core and I'm absolutely having a blast. I guess I could just go back and forth between them. I'm level 11 across the board would that change your opinion?
I have never used quick rest mods as usually you can rest whenever with little issue, but as far as Buff Mods, I'd say it's only cheating if you are activating all buffs at once during battle for example, something that would not be possible gameplay wise.
@@cRPGBro thanks. I'm at the start of Drezen and just started rejigged with MC/Trio/Daeren when I noticed the haste gap (was filling the spare spot with a quite fun Throwing Axe merc). I'll park him (and his wonderful dog) for a bit. I've got Skald (and BFT, for that matter) mercs in full roster already, but was thinking Nenio might be fun too, although dropping ThrowingAxe+Dog for full arcane might be a bit of a gimp on my martial heavy play style. If I've got healing to spare I'll rotate Daeran later
I always end up using two, if not all three, of Seelah, Sosiel and Camellia in all my parties. I keep meaning to build a companion party that uses none of them but it never happens. How would you do it?
Seelah, Regil, Daeran, Ember, Lann =) Also, Daeran has frightful aspect but doesn't have legendary propotions to resize pet. So, you need Ember for this =)
To be fair, I also tend to use the Triad for almost all my runs! They're simply too useful. Using not a single one of them would be hard, as the benefits from Seelah and Sosiel can't really be replaced by any other ally (Mark of Justice & Domain Powers). Camellia can be replaced by Ember as far as Hexes.
Attacks per Round are at their core tied to Base Attack Bonus progression. Please refer to the chart here: pathfinderkingmaker.fandom.com/wiki/Base_Attack_Bonus However, characters can acquire more through some ways: 1. The Haste buff gives an extra attack/round to ALL party members, which is why it's amazing. 2. Attacks of Opportunity count as extra attacks too, and there are many ways to get them. Usually the easiest is through the Outflank feat, so that whenever an ally scores a Critical Hit, nearby allies will get a free attack against the enemy. This is why i always pick it for all my characters that melee! Besides that, whenever a tripped/knocked down enemy tries to get up, it will also proc an AoO from nearby allies. Also why I focus on Pets that auto trip for you on their attacks on my builds, such as the Dog & Wolf.
Yep, they will stack. Demon can also share the base Demon Rage bonuses with party through Balor Aspect, and later ALL the bonuses through Nocticula Aspect, but just to a single party member.
I know its good but I absolutely HATE the mounted combat in this game, I always pick the weapon option for Seelah instead of the horse and I avoid the mounted combat like the plague, (regular pets like the dog/wolf are great) The reason for this is (and not sure if its just a bug) but my characters seem to dismount CONSTANTLY, and I don't just mean between maps which I'm aware of (although this in itself is a pain). It seems like after every fight I notice the rider not on the horse and I'm like seriously AGAIN, I don't enjoy having to tell my party members to mount every 2 seconds, unless I'm missing a really obvious method for ensuring they always stay on their mounts :S I'll build party members with regular pets but the mounted ones, nope,
I love using bard vs skald, in my skald play through it was pre buff and steam roll but I like using nenio and she would miss out of skald buffs so I ended up using bard more.
9:08 My Camellia always gets herself killed, kuz she's, ya know, a Serial Killer. All my good aligned characters tell her to stop and she attacks ... oh well...
I want to love PF but I don't understand how combat should flow in this game at all, outside of turn based. Coming from bg3, I'm fine with the complexity, but it doesn't do much to teach you the flow of live combat.
A small critique is that you get really hung up perfect optimisation it seems with lots of pets and i'm sure thats necessary for unfair but to me is kinda boring.
It's more that personally I also really enjoy pets (or summons). I'd say they are helpful to both beginners and more experienced players who want to take on the harder difficulties.
So I hear you like pets? Personally I can't stand using a Skald before level 20, in every playthrough I never have less than 1 character who can't cast spells, I would rather the freedom to cast in combat. and I find the rage benefits are over rated, you can reach stat levels that make hitting Deskari or any other end game boss with unoptimized single classes, which is the only real challenge of unfair. I have also found that in longer fights my parties even with mostly melee end up doing more average damage with a bard, Skalds tend to really shine in high crit focused parties with low spell caster counts, but I would argue if you have 2 full spell casters a bard is actually better, even more so if you didn't build your party around crits, which personally I find less fun anyways.
I would love to see a 2 mercenary party with Skald + Brown Fur. I'm planning my next run with these two mercs but I don't really know what to pick due to the insane amount of combos I can do. Analysis paralysis.
tbh, im not a fan of your party setups due to having WAY too many melee units, it's a clusterfuk lol. like 3 to 4 pets, with 3 to 4 melee party members, most of them are just running around bumping into each other. Ive tried many times with melee heavy teams and it's honestly far too frustrating and I can't stand it. at best I can deal with a max of 3 in the front at all times, 6 to 8 running up front is too much for me lol.
Hi there! That often is not much of an issue for me because my party members with pets are always riding them past level 7 or so, meaning they "share" the same spot as to not be blocked. Pets also have reach due their bigger size from level 7 onwards, and even more through Legendary Proportions. Plus you can also rely on having petless melees with reach weapons + size spells, something I often do for my Skald with Fauchards. This way they can attack from a good distance even at melee, for less blocking and pathing issues, while the mounted characters are at the front. In the end, due to how Outflank + AoOs work, there's just way better synergy for melee than ranged, especially with bigger boosts to AB.

Bro, would you consider guides for Kingmaker as well? Im interested on making an evil run... dunno if you played it. Any tips on best party members?
After being armed with knowledge of your mercenary and companion builds, the current biggest problem I'm facing with my playthroughs is that the party simply isn't big enough to fit all of the cool characters I want to use.
That's what replays are for, especially when trying out the different Mythic Paths.
One of the best things about Wrath is the replay value 😃
I always wish for just one more party slot, but then I think I would wish for more no matter how much more I got haha
Did this happen yet?
Is there mod to have ALL members participate?
Let's just appreciate the Daeran yeeting the succubus out of the map at 13:26
Also perfect timing since I was actually wondering about the synergies and team building
It's really fun when you ragdoll the demons like that sometimes, hah!
That was a home run if I've ever seen one.
Had a selah charge on a drench with a glaive and it was a homerun across the map lol
Just wanted to say there is an amazing amount of easy to understand info here, really adding to my enjoyment of my first playthrough of Wrath.
Looking forward to checking out all your video's for this game.

just starte the game yesterday. you make things easy to understand. appreciate it dude
I've been using your builds for all of my characters. Thank you for these great guides!!
your knowledge and insight in this game is the best on UA-cam.
Thank you! I try to explain the guides as best as I can.
Still the GOAT for builds and videos in general for Pathfinder.
Thanks, man!
man love your mic. much more clarity! kudos to you!
Thank you!
It's one of the first things I upgraded once I got enough budget for it, thanks to your support!
@@cRPGBro What mic did u go with?
Love this so much! Have you given any thought to putting out a guide for the Lich's undead companions?
Yep, it is one of the planned upcoming guides 😃
I just want to know if lich undead companions can receive morale bonuses or not. In the tabletop version they would not be able to, but none of the crpg guides say either way. Kind of maddening in fact.
@@cRPGBro Hell yes!
so what i'm getting from this video is that I should have a balanced party of paladin wenduag, cleric wenduag, pet wenduag, shaman wenduag, oracle wenduag, and skald wenduag
Definitely!
Brown Fur Wenduag is a choice too 😁
The best type of Wenduag is dead Wenduag.
@@ItsJustTeddington This comment must have been written by Lann. 😂
Lann is so cold when you decide whether to kill her in sheild maze
I use the "Fully Respec NPC Companions" mod, so that I don't have to be limited to their default classes. If you were to use such a mod, what would be your absolute dream team, w/ a good-aligned Mythic Path (Angel, Azata, etc)?
That can be nice indeed. I would have preferred if the companions were at least like in Deadfire where they usually all came at level 1 for almost maximum customization.
For mostly good aligned only party members, I'd say:
1. Angel Oracle MC
2. Seelah as Paladin, as she already is
3. Aru as Demonslayer Ranger
4. Ember as Skald (reach weapon can work even for her with penalty to STR and Witch Curse due to higher melee bonuses to AB, or go with Throwing Axes Dual Wield)
5. Sosiel as Ecclesitheurge Cleric, Erastil with Animal + Community Domains at the start
Thanks for this updated version, great work as always !
You're welcome, and thanks for the comment!
When I don't take Lann I take Arue (whom I turned into a Arcane Archer - like toon), or Woljif (whom I turned into a great Alchemist, - again - take the anti-element-resist-mythic thing, also
I've needed this!! Your videos have helped immensely with me getting into the game.
Nice, I'm really glad I was able to help you enjoy the game.
Wrath might be a bit hard to get into due to some of the more complex mechanics but it really is blast to play!
Was watching another video when this one popped, took me a minute.
High Initiative always pays off 😁
It's a bit complicated to play with Cam if ur character is not CE.
Regill definitely has amazing dialogue with Sosiel, the same for with Aru, hah!
I like min-maxing and I havent even started my first run yet and already watched like 20 of your videos. xD
You are on fire!
And more Guides to come!
@@cRPGBro what an amazing job. I would LOVE some guides of full party builds for different mythic paths: which companions work better and a general view on how to properly build them together.
Again, thanks for sharing all your knowledge
Interesting guide would be a list of MC build + suggest party members for all the different Mythic paths.
Usually I find these the best Party members overall for any Mythic.
But that could make for another fun guide too!
@@cRPGBro Aren't there problems if you play evil for example?
I'd like this as well. Preferably constraining companion selection to preferable or at least neutral alignments. When playing Evil it breaks immersion to continue having a paladin in the party.
Great video! I would love to see more merc guides.
Thanks! Merc Guide will be coming too.
Question you have done several updated build compared to those in linked in this guide.
Should i still use that guide or should i use the newer ones??
Love your videos man! Was wondering if you had any plans for an Undead companions build guide?
Thank you!
And yep, Undead Companions Guide is planned too.
I'll never not laugh at Daeran riding God. (Aroden)
So spot on for his humor!
Im definitely interested in a full mercenary party for rp flavour.
For eg Teenage mutant ninja kitsunes and their tiefling sensei Splinter
Looks like Merc Guide is coming then!
This sounds grand
Still waiting for that merc guide!@@cRPGBro
I've got a question, with your optimal party, who's gonna be the arcane speller caster? Also who's gonna be your high Int/wis character to met the check for knowledge/lore/perception?
Skald
Skald doesn't get Mage Armor though. This is my biggest conundrum with the suggested line-up. At least early game, missing out on extra 4AC on the animal tanks seems really bad@@perrin13
I really want to do the angel playthrough with a support type character like a skald or a bard, but their spell books don't merge, so I wanted to ask what are your thoughts about Martyr paladin? Also a good party composition for an angel run support MC (whether it be bard, skald, or Martyr)?
Cheers, always helpful
Thanks for the video
I'd be interested in the tweaks you might make to these companions to use with a Trickster main character. Thanks for your hard work!
@cRPGBro your guides broke me out of choice paralysis and have been of great help.😅
Btw could you clear up one confusing detail concerning True Seeing and illusion spells?
How do you use someone like Camilla for melee and spell casting? Don't you just get attacked spell casting in the enemy's face?
Great video, as always.
Too bad that it contains 3 companions who annoy me very much 😂
I respecced Arue into a ranged skald, (full respec with a mod) soooo good!
Fits her pretty well lore wise too!
@@habba5965 Yeah i think so too
It is certainly a great class for her with full respec!
Is this mod (full respect with a mod) still working? I see few of comments says that it's outdated and buggy, so I haven't used this mod then, thanks
@@timhsieh8171 It does work, i can't post a link but search for "WOTR respec mod github"
Update: the game updated today, the mod was updated up to the previous update, so maybe check tomorrow or in a few days.
How would you modify the companions to fit in a Lich MC? We lose Selia but get the Queen. Anything special at that point or switch them with mercs?
Honestly, you lose Seelah but it's super late at Chapter 5 Mythic 9 only, so she can still be extremely useful until then.
The Queen is a Bard by default, so you can use her, although I'd rather other undead allies like Kestoglyr, Delamere or Ciar.
@@cRPGBro thank you!
Really love your videos man
I refuse to use Camelia.
I also especially enjoy my Enchantment DC caster build for her focused on crowd control so she can fill a different niche than melee Cam:ua-cam.com/video/ErpqRegmjCw/v-deo.html
It's just that I find Cam's spellbook to be better overall with more useful buffs.
Sorry for the late response, but how do you get the arcane school buffs onto your party? Are they just not as neccessary?
restarted again lol, forgot her home in the city.with her dad. hope it doesn't matter, just want to get on with the game for once hehe. so overwhelming.
using cam, see, lann, myself, wol and one variable character depending on missiln / location. just started act2 (again) and angel path. hope it goes well now lol
Is that scald build still good with the new update?
Yes, but ideally you want to go the same feats but Inciter Skald now!
What if you wanted to add arcane caster, where would you put them and replacing whom?
I'm starting off with a Crusader as my main..what would you recommend as the best party with that choice?
Mark of Justice does not work on Seelah or Caster. Also, Swift Action according to the PF ruleset, you can only have 1 Swift Action per turn. That means if Seelah were to cast both Mark of Justice and Smite Evil it will takes 2 turns.
You are correct that it will not enhance Seelah's own attacks but on the other hand boosting your whole party, including summons & pets with the Smite Evil power up is crazy powerful!
Hey @cRPGBro thanks for all your videos.
What's the best party when you are lich?
Hi there, and thank you!
I honestly believe the best party is still the same as usual as I cover in my Best Party Guide here: ua-cam.com/video/x8Sc_Op3bdA/v-deo.html
Because Merged Liches have very fast spell progression & many spell slots, meaning you can easily buff most/all living allies with the Blessing of Unlife spell for heals with negative energy & undead immunities.
If you mean the Undead Companions, I have a guide for them here: ua-cam.com/video/lRmz4j6taPs/v-deo.html
But the best ones are defintely Cyar & Kestoglyr!
If you were to do a full respec with a mod for Arue, what would you build her as?
@@cRPGBro Regarding the Skald build to follow, should follow the Trickster Skald in the first version with Scimitar or the updated version?
@@pvfpinto I prefer with Fauchards!
This way you have reach and can attack from behind tanks/better for melee heavy parties.
@@cRPGBro thanks.
No Brownfur Transmuter mercenary? Its pretty damn amazing. +8 strength/dex/con from level 6 mass spells and +10 str/+8 con from Frightful Aspect.
It can be amazing indeed as I have explained in my Brown Fur Guide: ua-cam.com/video/tzqbT5wYhd8/v-deo.html
It's just that for this Guide I wanted to focus mostly on Story Companions, but Skald is too good to pass!
Spell wise I'm gonna have them focus on different spells to cover a greater variety...or as much as I can xD
Other than that...any hope for more mercenary build videos?
Hi! Thank you so much for your videos, they are amazing. Please tell me what kind of story companion can you replace the skald with?
Hi there, and thank you!
If you don't want to use a Skald Merc and would prefer another story party member, that's going to depend on what role your main character is covering. You can go with Aru/Lann/Wenduag for more ranged support, Nenio for more arcane spells/buffs, or Regill for more melee damage.
You can also make the main character a Skald, it's a very powerful choice with almost any Mythic Path.
@@cRPGBro Thanks for the answer
Team is really great, but It's tough to balance what ranks to put where for who. I just put nenio or woljiff in the group over skald (can't afford merc right now anyway) because either of them fill the gaps in skills and can scribe or potion. Nenio.
Would you replace someone with the companion shifter? He seems very tanky
How exactly would you fit the new guy Ulfric in the party? He's full melee, but he also has a 120ft teleporting charge that kinda makes him a sniper
If you're building your entire party to grow 80% more effective in 1/2 battles/day, it's almost redundant to have a mythic path that only provides boosts during those battles, so I would think a different mythic path that provides boosts more frequently would be a stronger one, especially on a class that otherwise doesn't have limited resources.)
who does the new shapershifter replace?
What is the advantage to using a 1h weapon as a 2h?
I've been wondering what are the best way to support nenio's illusions? I have all three spell penetration feats/mythic ability and some buffs like that amulet of clarity but I need something to reduce enemy will saving throws how do I do that?
I read persistent metamagic is great for phantasmal killer and weird as it makes enemies roll twice and takes the worst result but I feel I need something else as well
For that, please check my How to DEBUFF Enemies even on Unfair guide here: ua-cam.com/video/4GYV0y9NreY/v-deo.html
I'm mid game during Chapter 3, this is my party for the most part:
Oracle Angel with Grave Singer
Seelah as a Paladin
Daeran Duel-Wielding
Sosiel as ecclesitheurge
Camilia as a Shaman
Aru as a Sniper
But soon enough Camellia is going to leave...
I am in for an all mercenaries guide! What do you need besides skald and the brown fur?
Well, there are some other great archetypes that can be added even for classes covered by companions, like Shadow Shaman. But more to come!
Can you redo your eldritch archer build for enhanced edition?
Sure, I was thinking of doing an updated Archer Guide too.
Please, dear god, yes to a full mercenary party!
Coming soon then!
@@cRPGBro Thank you kindly, good sir. Luckily you already have one merc spot covered, with our beloved Skald mercenary ;)
@@cRPGBro I am looking forward for your full mercenary party.
Did you ever make the full mercenary party video? I assume no but I would still like to watch it :) @@cRPGBro
Is there any work around for the skalds inspired rage it silences all my casters?
Yep, you can just select the "Accept Rage On/Off" ability that any character has in the ability tab.
It works instantly and will turn off the Rage for that character only, while letting them cast spells, you can just select it later again to accept Rage back when you don't need to cast spells anymore.
Once your Skald hits level 20, you can also Rage + cast spells at the same time. Happens a bit late, but it's good to have regardless.
So my party consists of me (Inquisitor) Lann, Darren, Sosiel, Camille and seela...do I need the skald cause I would know who I could substitute anyone for him.
Skald is not a necessity, but it can help a lot on Hard and especially Unfair.
You can replace Lann if you want.
Do you consider using quick rest mods / autobuff mods to be cheating for unfair builds, as long as they respect the ''no rest here'' areas?
I have never used quick rest mods as usually you can rest whenever with little issue, but as far as Buff Mods, I'd say it's only cheating if you are activating all buffs at once during battle for example, something that would not be possible gameplay wise.
@@cRPGBro makes sense. Thanks for the reply :)
You've gotta do the 2 mercs with a main character, that would be insane!
I'd love to see a solo guide from you, or at least a duo guide.
Without a dedicated Arcane in your trio, or even trio + Daeran, how do get Haste?
Skald Merc!
Seelah, Regil, Daeran, Ember, Lann =)
Also, Daeran has frightful aspect but doesn't have legendary propotions to resize pet.
How to have more attacks per round? I am level 14 and me and most of my companions have 2 attacks.
Attacks per Round are at their core tied to Base Attack Bonus progression.
Please refer to the chart here: pathfinderkingmaker.fandom.com/wiki/Base_Attack_Bonus
However, characters can acquire more through some ways:
Does Skald rage stack with demon rage? Looking to make a demon character
Yep, they will stack.
Demon can also share the base Demon Rage bonuses with party through Balor Aspect, and later ALL the bonuses through Nocticula Aspect, but just to a single party member.
Owclat should fix finally protective luck to also work against touch attacks.
I know its good but I absolutely HATE the mounted combat in this game, I always pick the weapon option for Seelah instead of the horse and I avoid the mounted combat like the plague, (regular pets like the dog/wolf are great)
The reason for this is (and not sure if its just a bug) but my characters seem to dismount CONSTANTLY, and I don't just mean between maps which I'm aware of (although this in itself is a pain).
It seems like after every fight I notice the rider not on the horse and I'm like seriously AGAIN,
I don't enjoy having to tell my party members to mount every 2 seconds, unless I'm missing a really obvious method for ensuring they always stay on their mounts :S
I'll build party members with regular pets but the mounted ones, nope,
For that, I believe the Auto Mount Mod is a life saver!
I love using bard vs skald, in my skald play through it was pre buff and steam roll but I like using nenio and she would miss out of skald buffs so I ended up using bard more.
Both Bard and Skald have a very solid Spellbook for buffs, indeed.
won't camelia leave your party at the end? I had to kill here at 3rd chapter as I could not stand who she is.
Only for Aeon & Swarm, and only during Act 5 in these cases.
9:08 My Camellia always gets herself killed, kuz she's, ya know, a Serial Killer. All my good aligned characters tell her to stop and she attacks ... oh well...
Would love to see a full merc party
would be the ultimate video guide for ppl that have already played with all NPC Party Members
@@michaelmaier8133 exactly
9:00 usually most don't have Camellia after chapter 3 😅
I would like to see a full mercenary party !!
me too!
But who will cast Mage Armor on the pet tanks? 🧐
That's what all those plentiful Scrolls & Pots are for, very cheap too!
Later you have Bracers for the same effect.
The problem i have with Camellia's hex is that enemies saves on 2+
So I hear you like pets?
So you don't use Arcane casters? I'm impressed
No Brown Fur Transmuter? That's a surprise.
I'm interested in the full merc parties
It is definitely coming now 😃
@@cRPGBro ....aaaaannny day now...
I would love to see a 2 mercenary party with Skald + Brown Fur.
I'm planning my next run with these two mercs but I don't really know what to pick due to the insane amount of combos I can do.
Analysis paralysis.
Mercenary Guide has been requested, so it might be coming soon!
I refuse to play with a horse
Man, I would hate to play the game like you serious players 😂. Everyone on pets is so cheap to me.
tbh, im not a fan of your party setups due to having WAY too many melee units, it's a clusterfuk lol. like 3 to 4 pets, with 3 to 4 melee party members, most of them are just running around bumping into each other.
1. Stack pets with outflank
2. Stack stacking buffs
???
4. Profit
if it works why not? yeah:) anyway owlcat not gonna fix their balance anyway=\
It's definitely the way the game is designed considering the higher stats on mobs than their tabletop counterparts 😃
Of course a skald
Always!
yep Cleric is very strong class, it just that Sosiel is just so boring as a character
crpgbro and pets. Name a better duo lol
crpgbro and skalds! 😃
