There's also this really weird sexism element going on here. Like if we look at transphobic belief that trans women are men, and trans men are women, just look at the difference in their treatment. I.e., trans women are treated as if they're all predators or aggressive, and trans men are treated like they're all confused and must be guided. Is the implication, based on this belief and subsequent treatment, that all men are aggressive predators and all women can't come to their own conclusions about their identity? Beyond transphobia that's just plain sexist. lol And when people say things like, "I just don't agree with gay people" or trans people, etc. What does that MEAN? You don't agree with a general form of human? Imagine saying "I don't agree with black people." or "I don't agree with Jews." What is there to agree with? These are people that exist whether you like it or not. Very strange to me.
It's especially obvious when they claim that "little girls get double mastectomies." Which is simply impossible. You can't remove something that isn't there. Every person on the planet knows that little girls don't have boobs. So they are obviously calling grown adults, grown MEN, "little girls." It doesn't matter whether we're 18, 26, or 40+, they'll always put us on the same cognitive development level as pre-teens or even toddlers, simply because we were born with a vagina. If that isn't sexist, then I don't know what is.
Can I just point out how especially wild it can get once they trow other facts into the mix? Like many transphobes often bring up autism making people succeptable to "falling" for being transgender and treat all of us like fucking kids... Yet every time I've that mentioned it's about AFAB autistic people... Despite the fact that most autistic people are AMAB (or at least most of the diagnosed ones) And honestly that's telling
I was noticing that, myself. I think part of it comes down to conservatives having the belief that being a woman is somehow inherently wrong. Like, I had the misfortune of having to be on a treadmill at the gym with fox news on one of the TVs, the one right in front of me no less, and there is some daily segment of this one guy just bitching about the left for an entire hour, and he went on this ten minute long rant about how the left is trying to feminize everything, making people weak and all that crap. It sounds like most conservatives genuinely believe it is wrong to be a woman at all, so trans women are like traitors to them. They are so utterly incapable of having even the tiniest understanding of why anyone would admit to being a woman that they just get angry, like someone trying to break a puzzle because they can't solve it.
being trans is like a coin toss in a way cause it forces you to completely rethink gender roles and sterotypes just to make sure.. and you realize society is fucking crazy and wants to force even cis people in these boxes and we are lucky because we have a chance to get out..
I hope that when people are accidental allies, it means that they don't fully understand and/or are repeating things they have heard, which means there's hope for them to learn and grow!
Oh my gosh that one who said they "respect the trans lifestyle" reminded me of a recent argument with my uncle where he tried to claim "I care about gay people and that's why I'm against gay marriage" and all I could do was respond with "do you even listen to yourself sometimes?" Because that was the most batshit crazy thing I'd ever heard.

Sweden is one of the most secular countries in the world, yet you will still find a fairly big amount of bigots that identify as atheists. While nearly all the churches welcome members of the community and allow same-sex weddings in the church. Those that don't, are not allowed to perform binding wedding ceremonies anymore.

@sallywright Regret is always a possibility for any medical or surgical procedure. The regret rate for gender transition is astronomically low. Most people who de transition site societal pressure as the reason, not regret. How about you keep your filthy nose out of other people's private medical decisions? If a minor is involved that is for the minor, the parents, and the doctors to decide what is appropriate, not you. Trans people are not just going to stop existing.
@@sallywright8065 - That's so rare though and there are many, many preventative measures in place. Is it unfortunate that it happens? Absolutely. But there are options for them, and taking healthcare away from the 99.9% who ARE actually trans is NOT a solution.

I hate the whole sports debate for one reason, nonbinary people. I am nonbinary, if I wanted to play sports how would I? Is there that much of a biological difference? Maybe? I legitimately don’t know know how to solve this, especially because I want to eventually start nonbinary hormones.
@@IsaacMyers1 Yes, its complicated, I believe in less transphobic locations pre-medical transition you compete with your sex assigned at birth, and after medically transitioning you join what ever gender you are more physically close to. In transphobic states though NB people aren't really allowed to compete at all. Sex/gender division in sports doesn't make much sense anyway as there is so much variety even within each sex and gender, and the more restrictions you add the more people you exclude from being allowed to compete. Most sports should be divided more along the lines of height and weight than what's between your legs.
@@rosieg6989 I think it's because the average cisgender man is more athletic/physically "built" than the average cisgender woman because of human evolution. Thus, if there were to be a world record for something involving grip strength, weight lifted, etc., then it's more likely for a cisgender man to win it. In other words, having co-ed sports would not really give a chance for most women to shine. Now, as for trans people in sports, you really need to nail it when it comes to levelling the playing field between a trans woman and a cis woman (ditto for men) when it comes to similar testosterone/estrogen levels, or other hormones that can offset advantages and disadvantages caused by different puberties. I remember that the NIH website said that trans women needed more than 1 year of HRT to have equivalent strength/endurance to cis women.

Yesterday when I was on the bus I really had to hold my tongue. There were two men who were talking about a woman when one of them says "I keep saying she. I don't know why I keep saying that. I mean he because she dresses like a woman and wants to be a woman but she is a man." The transphobia while also accidently respecting pronouns! XD
So thinking a man who identifies as a woman is still a man, is transphobic? Acknowledging biological reality is transphobic? Sigh The man on the bus wasn't being transphobic. He was being rational and reasonable. You were being paranoid about transphobia, but at least you knew unquestionably (without asking) that HE was definitely a MAN.

Beyond transphobia that's just plain sexist. lol
And when people say things like, "I just don't agree with gay people" or trans people, etc. What does that MEAN? You don't agree with a general form of human? Imagine saying "I don't agree with black people." or "I don't agree with Jews." What is there to agree with? These are people that exist whether you like it or not. Very strange to me.
It's especially obvious when they claim that "little girls get double mastectomies."
Which is simply impossible. You can't remove something that isn't there.
Every person on the planet knows that little girls don't have boobs. So they are obviously calling grown adults, grown MEN, "little girls."
It doesn't matter whether we're 18, 26, or 40+, they'll always put us on the same cognitive development level as pre-teens or even toddlers, simply because we were born with a vagina.
Despite the fact that most autistic people are AMAB (or at least most of the diagnosed ones)
And honestly that's telling
@Anonymous Wasn't saying they were the same
being trans is like a coin toss in a way cause it forces you to completely rethink gender roles and sterotypes just to make sure.. and you realize society is fucking crazy and wants to force even cis people in these boxes and we are lucky because we have a chance to get out..

Hi Jamie I just wanted to say that I really appreciate your channel and I hope you and Shaaba are doing well. You are quickly becoming a bit of a role model for me, you’re so well informed and graceful especially when responding to hate comments.
Figuring out that JK Rowling was a garbage human being was literally the most heartbreaking realization of my life. She had such potential. So many of her quotes work as quotes of acceptance.
I really don’t understand what went wrong to send her down this path. She wrote a whole series about accepting yourself and then started to do the exact opposite.
@@soupy_soup2 well I mean she is british
@@glompert7390 💀
@@soupy_soup2 My semi-professional opinion as someone in remote social work? Unhealed trauma. As is the case with too many people. She's got this inchoate reactive notion that recognizing trans women as women somehow rides roughshod over the various terrible things she's endured at the hands of men and patriarchy, like sexual assault. Mentally, she seems to have framed trans acceptance as some kind of invasion, which only reinforces that trauma. And as she digs herself deeper and deeper into a reactionary hole, and more and more people pile on her about it, her sense of victimhood grows to monstrous proportions.
I wish she'd get help and put her written dispatches on pause in the meantime.
@@presentfuture7563 Jesus dude. That’s way too accurate. She views trans women as some sort of attack on her femininity. That somehow accepting trans women as women will make her less of a woman. That could absolutely stem from internalized and externalized misogyny or sexual trauma. I know for a fact that she has unhealed sexual trauma. Perhaps if she hadn’t experienced the trauma that she did, she might’ve not gone down this path.

As for the wrestling picture, that's Mack Beggs, a trans man who wanted to wrestle with the other boys, but was FORCED to wrestle with girls because his transphobic state/school forced him to do so.

@Clam Chowder you're denying science. cringe.
@Clam Chowder Being trans is not classified as a mental illness by either the American Psychological Association or the World Health Organization. Gender dysphoria or incongruence is recognized by both as a medical condition, and transition is the only treatment recognized as effective and appropriate medical response to this condition. A trans person who has completed transition, and who no longer experiences distress because the conditions previously causing it have been corrected, is no longer diagnosed as having dypshoria or incongruence.
