Josh Turner is amazing. I've watched almost all of his videos and many of them numerous times. Made a trip to Dallas recently to see him perform with the equally amazing Allison Young as The Bygones and the performance did not disappoint. I always am anticipating when a new release drops on UA-cam.
I might not be impartial, being a big fan of Josh and his work, but this might be the most articulate signature guitar promotion video I've seen out there. The Captain asked some excellent guiding questions that allowed Josh to show off the features that he collaborated with D'Angelico on this signature guitar. But the interview was such an honest conversation that it never felt like a product demonstration or sales video. Kudos to both of you, can't wait to see you two meet in person in the UK, please bring Josh into the studio when he's touring with the Bygones next year.
Big fan of Josh and his pals! Couldn't click 'go' on this vid quick enough! What an inspirational player. The dedication to get this good is inspiring in itself, that's before even hearing a note. There is definitely something to be said for having a good, varied start in the music you listen to. It oozes out of him🙌
Josh is super talented, multi instrumentalist of tasteful notes. Ive been following him and the collaborations and really enjoy it! Thanks for this interview.
Have been watching Josh FROM the beginning. I've watched him grow so unbelievable much and admire the musician he's turned into. Such a great young man, NO EGO and brings in all kinds of othe rmusicians to show off their talents. SO GLAD you had Josh on and THANK YOU. NEXT bring his old co-hort Carson on. LOVE THEM BOTH DEARLY!!
I was given an old Harmony by an old 83 year old guy at which time I was 56. I re-worked the old Harmony to the best of my ability and that old guitar became my favorite play.
Great interview, Captain. For whatever reason, years ago, UA-cam suggested me the other favorites covering 16 tons and Ive been following Josh since then. 👍🏻🙏🏻
I ebjoyed that video. I've been following Josh for years on youtube and I rate hm as a muscian. I'm currently thnking abut a new acoustic and this is on the radar now.
Josh, Carson, Reina and Toni......these folks are some of my favorite musicians. Love them, love their energy, love their values, and love their music.
I"ve been following Josh for roughly 15 years and he always delights. Why? Because it isn't pressurized music. It's spontaneous, fun, beautifully arranged and da dada! it's FREE! Traditional commercial music often lacks soul and sincerity, not to mention virtuosity and melodiousness. And so, Josh, you should never feel insecure about your success or the venue in which you achieved it. It's pure and well-deserved. You play for the love of music and it shows in every video. Add to that, Allison is a revelation and I hope you both stay together forever. . . . I'm a month younger than James Taylor and have friends with whom I played guitar and piano through the ages. When I first discovered you years ago, I sent them all videos saying, "look at this teenager. He understands!" We were all very concerned about the crap being issued as music back in those days. But you gave us hope that your generation was not completely clueless. Carry on! P.S. As for the type of music you play, it's ALL folk music cause folks make it and folks dig it. Even Sinatra!
Josh is enjoying his well deserved success. I’ve been a fan since the start . It’s not just the great musicianship, but the production as well .. I’ll be waiting for the new record . I sure would love to see Josh and Alison live .
I saw Josh and Allison perform in London, I think it was last summer. It was their first ever show together and they were superb. Amazing talent and charm. I'm so pleased that they are continuing their journey together.
Josh and his compadres are some of the most talented folks I’ve seen. Inspirational and entertaining. Nice to see an acoustic guitar video from Anderton’s for a change.
You should maybe see a bit more then, great to see young people on traditional instruments but the standard compared to the pre digital era is sad to see, generally speaking
Talented guy and he’s been doing it for so long we’ve been watching him grow up like a musical Truman Show. Keep chugging on Josh.. we all love what you’re doing
I just discovered him a few days ago, and his cohort in the Bygones - Allison Young, one of the best vocalists I've ever heard before. Got a ticket to see them next month here, was amazed at my luck they are coming to this city!
I see Josh is out promoting this guitar, and I have commented on other videos. I have owned this JT signature guitar for almost three months. I highly recommend this guitar. Light. Easy to play. balanced. great sounding. Attractive. Its a home run at this price point. The sustain is out of this world. I get complimented after every gig about the sound of the guitar. The passive pick up system is a no brainer. Throw the gig bag over your shoulder and you are on your way. If you are in the market for your "next" guitar put this one on your list for consideration.
I second this. I got mine a few days ago and it is very hard to put down! It’s the lightest guitar I’ve owned and feels really great to play. When I first played it I was surprised by the tone. It emanates from the whole body with warmth and clarity, mainly due to the thin top and bracing. Also the open pore and satin finish is 👌
Excellent choice for an interview-- Josh is a major rising force in music from my perspective. I saw him perform with The Other Favorites a few years back, and my jaw hit the floor. He brings a remarkable singing voice, playing ability, and intelligent songwriting the likes of which we haven't seen in a very long time. Do yourself a favor and check this guy out.
Guitar deliberately designed to be more ‘average’ by a player who is obviously above ‘average’, but is therefore accessible to players who are actually ‘average’.
I remember watching Josh cover Sultans of Swing well over a decade ago when I first started learning guitar. Was something I aspired to be at some point and I got there! But still remains one of the best covers
I've been fan of Josh and his collaborations since discovering him about 4 years ago. As well as being a superb musician, he is clearly intelligent and articulate which enables him to explain himself so very clearly. Re the Bygones, part of the attraction there is the pure 1940s/50s vibe that Allison's voice brings which extends their appeal to all generations even more.
Big fan of Josh and his crew. Love his recording techniques, and the 5 seconds at the end of a song where the performers look around at each other wondering if they’re thinking what I’m thinking, that this take is the one.
Coincidence of two of my most loved UA-cam-Channels. Been following Josh for many years now, from guitar-crazy-kid till the state he is in nowadays. Thanks for the clip!
Josh and his pals are the best, I'm so grateful to them for sharing their talent And Josh's recordings are always a live take, perfectly recorded, it's so refreshing

@@suebasko3865Thanks for explaining! I was wondering if the original comment was from sort sort of bot because I couldn't think of Josh ever collaborating with anyone named Jack or Nataly, but now I see what the person meant.
You know, regarding guitars with solid construction, top, back & sides.... this, versus one made from laminates , I think the solid wood guitars win, just about every time. For a stage guitar, though --- thinking of some Takamine models, i.e., the partially laminate ones: they win, resisting feedback, and amplifying better, with a woodier sound. But for a personal, sit at home and make love to your acoustic guitar -- go with solid wood if you can.
I've been a huge fan of Josh from the very early days. That song Angelina with Carson is forever a favorite of mine. I've shared their Harvest Moon video with many people and it's my go-to feel good video. Toni and Reina are great and seeing Allison grow to a mature adult with an amazing voice and as tasteful guitarist is truly admirable. Kudos to you all.
As other people have said Josh and his musical friends have some of the best and most eclectic music on UA-cam. He is a phenomenal guitarist and musician.
I love those musicians Josh ,Carson,rReina and Toni..I follow their music and being a singer and guitarist for hobby, I learned a lot from them...Thanks guys..
"Nobody can be that cool." Josh Turner can. Thanks VERY much for this excellent interview. Even though I'm a Taylor fanatic, my next guitar will likely be one of his.
Great interview of one of my favourite UA-cam artists. An amazing talent who also just happens to have an amazing group of fellow musicians as friends.👍👍🇨🇦
Enjoyed this video mostly in hearing how Josh came into the music world. Saw him last night in Kalamazoo, Mi. with Allison. Amazing talented couple. I was curious how they got together and this video covered it. Carry on and God Bless.
Great interview. I've been a fan of Josh's , and Allison's, and Elle and Toni, and Carson's for a few years now. I learned a bit about Josh today, he doesn't talk much. He is such an incredibly versatile player.
I would have concerns about structural integrity of the signature guitar due to lightweight specs. Especially the top thickness. I would be especially concerned about the sound board collapsing under tension of the strings with such lights specs. But I have to confess that it sounds wonderful on this video.
Heh heh, cool interview! I've been following Josh's channel since 2013? or so, and everything he's posted either solo or with others has been exceptional. Allison Young adds a whole new twist to his works since she is very good at capturing the 1930's and 40's style music (and the look as well!) She's a pretty rare find, and I hope they work together for a long time!!😉👍👍
I love UA-cam for bringing talents like these to my computer. Josh and his buddies never disappoint. I don't think I've seen a video where the quality of playing hasn't been impressive. The Captain did a great job with this interview. Great questions. Also, I hardly heard an 'um', 'ya know' or 'anyways' from either person which makes this interview that much more enjoyable to listen to.
