I've been following Josh and friends for a few years. They are a bright light in a sea of musical darkness. They give me hope that good music and talented musicians may survive and thrive.
Josh is legit one of the most talented people on youtube. Found so many amazing people thru him. Reina del cid, Toni Lingren, Carson Mckee, Allison young and so many more. Josh is a rare talent.
Thank you very much for showing us the great Josh!! But….Josh & friends played THE BEST COVER of one of the most emotional and beautiful songs ever written: OPERATOR, by Jim Croce. I miss that song in this compilation.
I share your enthusiasm about the Operator cover, it is adorable beyond words. But given the extent of Josh's catalogue and the fact that there is only so much you can put into one video, you will always end up leaving the one or other of his great recordings out.

Many of Josh and Co's arrangements of covers are as good or better than the originals. The originals are just that, very original. It is not a coincidence that he has an appreciation from music from the entire last century.

I can testify that Josh is hands down the most amazingly talented musician I've ever seen in my 70 years on the planet. Every video is better than the last. It's other worldly.
His breadth of styles and techniques is astounding; classical, jazz, rock, pop, blues, folk, not to mention 3-finger picking Scruggs style on the 5-string banjo.
I`m 75 and watch a lot of musicians on youtube. there`s no one even close to Josh. he is truly in a league of his own and still improving. it takes more than talent to accomplish his level of musicianship. it takes dedication and thousands of hours of hard work.
It absolutely blows my mind how many instruments and styles that guy has picked up and just mastered. He's really astonishing. I had the opportunity to see The Other Favorites last year. Brilliant performance.
He has always been an outstanding multi-instrumentalist. Plus over the years his singing has improved remarkably, as has his music/sound/video production. I am an avid Josh and Carson fan. I have seen all of those videos multiple times except the one by the Dooby Brothers. I have never seen that. Thank you for sharing it. I wish you would have included Josh and Carson’s book high school report. It was the ultimate book report! I guess they were 16-17 when instead of writing a book report they wrote a song. It was about an Ill fated ship. It was written in “Sea Shanty” style. It is a riot and it really gives a glimpse into Josh and Carson’s musical genius. The name of it was “In the Heart of the Sea: The Comedy of the Whaleship Essex”. Brilliant!

I found Josh 5 years ago looking for covers of Nick Drake. I would say he is the best living interpreter of Nick. Lucky you guitar players just discovering Josh and Carson.
A long time follower of Josh, nothing exemplifies his artistry like his over of Valerie. His accompaniment is so tasteful and creative, it brings out the song’s essence far better than any other rendition. His talents as a guitarist are in full display.
Everything that he has ever done is fantastic, but what hits me the hardest is the absolute joy that is obvious on his face when (I guess) it surpasses his high expectations. He loves what he is doing - what a blessing.
There is nothing better than watching a musician or a group of musicians who are not only giving you a top notch performance, but who are also having such a great time doing it! The only time such joy doesn’t show is when the topic is serious and as usual, Josh takes it very seriously. He certainly is not without emotion.

Concert pianists and opera singers make a highly respectable living doing covers. That's basically what they do. Josh is a leader in a new movement of artists who do covers of "contemporary" artists (50s on) and sometimes perform better than the originals. There is nothing Josh can't do. In Los Angeles, right before Covid, there was a show about Simon and Garfunkel at the Pantages. As I enjoyed the music I was thinking they really should have had Josh play the part of Paul Simon. Then the spotlight shined on the back up singers and guitar players, and to my joy and wonder, there was Josh! He doesn't look like Paul, but if you close your eyes and listen, you can't help but think "Paul was having a really good day when he recorded that"
Josh has a deep catalog of covers and originals. Most the songs you highlighted are my least favorite, yet somehow he is my most watched artist on UA-cam by a big margin.
Unfortunately (or rather fortunately), Josh is so talented that it was difficult to distill his essence down to only 10 videos. he defies description. you can watch hundreds of his YT videos and be constantly surprised by what he does and how easy he makes it look. his friends and collaboraters are all incredibly talented and they all seem to love what they`re doing.

I am sure Josh plays the mandolin as well. I have been trying to learn Sultans of swing on the mandolin I have it down fairly well but would love to hear Josh play it on the mandolin, I am sure he can do it and it would be amazing

I've been watching Josh and Carson for years. Josh is one of the best players of string instruments anywhere. Still think they will make it huge
he defies description. you can watch hundreds of his YT videos and be constantly surprised by what he does and how easy he makes it look. his friends and collaboraters are all incredibly talented and they all seem to love what they`re doing.
Josh had me on the first Wagon Wheel. Never get tired of watching that left hand.
I really enjoyed this spotlight. Been a fan of all these incredible youngsters for quite some time. Burlington Bill busking( and writing songs) on the road and on you tube.
Most of us could only hope for just a little bit of his enormous musical talent. And the cat is amazing 12:30
I have never seen anyone who had such a rich group of musical friends! Very underrated talent. The Paul Simon show in England is a good example of his talent!

Excellent piece. Yes...there is so much more. I have watched a ton of Josh and his friends but there were several firsts in this clip-for me.
first video i ever saw of him and musical friends was SLOOP JOHN B. it was perfect and so much fun to listen AND watch. i have since watched about everything! great to see his talents recognized! i hope he goes as far as he wants, he deserves his career to be all that!

I am sure Josh plays the mandolin as well. I have been trying to learn Sultans of swing on the mandolin I have it down fairly well but would love to hear Josh play it on the mandolin, I am sure he can do it and it would be amazing

Yea this guy is a pro. Great set of pipes and can play his ass off. These guys sound great. I would wish him luck but he don't need luck, he's that good. Good luck anyway. Very happy he has been "discovered". He could make a great living just doing covers. He could get booked most anywhere for real good money. He reminds me a bit of Buddy Holly. By the way those side people playing with him are golden.
