  • amzn.to/38AAWsl - KFE KFE2036 - 104 Ultra Quiet Advanced Premium Ceramic Brake Pad Front Set (This is a brake pad kit that had good reviews on Amazon and looks like it has the proper recesses in the backing plates for the springs)
    amzn.to/31PK8b0 - Power Stop 16-2036 Z16 Evolution Front Ceramic Brake Pads (I have used many Power Stop brake kits and have had good success so far)
    I couldn't find the OEM Honda brake pads online. The ones listed had bad fitment reviews. You may need to go to a local Honda Dealer...
    amzn.to/2L6obdd - Sil-Glyde
    amzn.to/38BqY9Y - Long Handle Ratchet, Flex Head, 72 Tooth ( I really like this ratchet)
    amzn.to/38FUFXK - Milwaukee M12 3/8" ratchet
    amzn.to/2VQD4qA - GearWrench 3/8" drive torque wrench 10-100 ft. lbs 85062
    amzn.to/3e7TfGC - Caliper compression tool similar to using a C-clamp if you prefer this method over the screwdriver method of prying the caliper piston back in.
    amzn.to/2DcFycq - MISSION AUTOMOTIVE Brake Caliper Hooks/Brake Caliper Hangers (if you don't have some large zip ties or bent coat hanger....or an old piece of rope with some old bungee cord ends.)
    Just a quick video showing how I replaced the front brake pads on a 2017 Honda CR-V. I didn't resurface or replace the rotors this time. The brake pads we got were from NAPA that didn't have the small recess in the ends of the backing plate for the clips/springs that push against the caliper bracket to prevent the pads from constantly dragging on the rotors. I would recommend getting the OEM Honda pads from your dealer or other source. The other Brake pads I found on Amazon in the links above look like they would work fine as well.
    Tools Needed:
    Large screwdriver or small pry bar
    Wire Brush
    14mm socket and/or wrench
    19mm Open-End Wrench
    Torque Wrench
    Brake Grease
    The torque specs I found online: 36 ft. lbs. for the caliper slide pin bolts. (I recommend checking that in your manual to make sure it's correct.)

    Great job narrating, even tho brakes are an easy job I like that you had extra steps with all the clips. Sometimes I'll watch an expert such as yourself replace/repair something and everything is perfect. Thanks

    Good info! I need to do this job on my wife's CRV in a couple weeks. Any issues with the auto-braking sensors or any computer resets that are necessary with the caliper compression?

    Man, I'd be pissed about those clips... thank you for the warning. Hopefully NAPA has changed their manufacturing, lol, I'm sure.

    What would happen if the clips came off?

    • @wjm3018
      @wjm3018 Рік тому

      Nothing will happen...it will just squeal when you hit the base of the brake pads and it will squeel like a pig

    Is white lithium grease ok?

    • @DantheFixitMan
      @DantheFixitMan  2 роки тому

      Hi Lou,
      White lithium grease is not recommended because it is a low temp grease. Any silicone paste or brake caliper grease should be fine.
