      Both good, for this test DF64 was better. I normally use Timemore at 800rpm and that improves the taste of espresso.

      Then you can play with RPMs on 064s and compare it to DF64. That would be interesting.

    Thanks for this comparison. I'm trying to decide whether to get SSPs for this 064s or just season these burrs. Espresso only.
    How much seasoning did your grinders have before this comparison? Curious whether your espresso results for the 064s is after excessive seasoning or before.

      The 064s is like a toy compared to the DF gen 2 and they finally made it as it should have been from the start. The 064s is as a first go just okai. I chose the 078 and at the ks price its more similar to DF64 g2. Features and low watt motor are worse than the DF64 g2, and much easier to change burrs - its now the darling of their lineup imo..

      @@mycoffeeshow111 Mhmyah you don't really need the 064s and you have top grinders. 078 and 078s are different animals and in another league and will compare much better then the 064's - but the price of the 078's are more inline with the DF83 and 64V.

    I have a DF64 gen 2, but prefer the look of the 064S. The DF64 is superb I am very happy with the standard burrs, and as it can be upgraded like the 064s it’s future proof, and built like a preferable tank. Great review.

      I sort of hope it’s not much better than the gen 2, as I have only just got mine……..but possibly extra cost! I was interested in the DF54 but think the lack of changeable burrs did make me think the 64 was a better option. Have you got a test for the fr54 coming up?@@mycoffeeshow111

    I am trying to choose a 64mm grinder where to put ssp mp burrs for turbo shot and wonder if 064s motor is up to the task with liight roast? I know df64v can do it but sculptors workflow looks better.

      I never had any issues with DF64 but 064s stalled few times with very dense coffee. It is also more difficult to swap burrs on it. Otherwise both very decent grinders.

      The motor sucks for light roasts tbh even struggles with denser medium roasts, very odd choice that the 78mm has a 400w motor and the 64mm has 150w

    Im tring to decide between DF64 and Eureka Mignon Specialita. If they are the same price, which one do you think is a better choice for upgrading the Built in Breville Barista Express grinder? Is the upgrade going to be worth the 400$ price over the one i have ?

    • @mycoffeeshow111
      @mycoffeeshow111  7 місяців тому +1

      I started my adventure with Barista Express and my first upgrade was Eureka specialita. I did notice significant improvement. I might have some old videos about that. DF64 would definitely be better in terms of workflow and clarity in the cup. Specialita would be preferred if you like more classic approach to espresso (more body , less clarity).
      Word of advice, once you get better grinder you will start thinking about better machine. Once you get that, you will need even better grinder. This is a slippery slope.

    • @ShayanGivehchian
      @ShayanGivehchian 7 місяців тому

      @mycoffeeshow111 can you explain how it improves it ? Like I can make a pretty comparable espresso to what I get at a shop with am ek43 and la marzocco machine with identical beans. I think they both miss nuance and I like to get sweet rich tasting espresso I just don't want to be disappointed by spending a lot of money.

    • @mycoffeeshow111

      @@ShayanGivehchian That is what I am trying to tell you. If you are happy with what you have, stick with it. Better grinder allows you to dial in the tricky coffees easier. The problem i found with the 064s was the weak ass motor =/ i could hear it struggling with a medium/ light roast, you can hear the variance in speed which makes RPM control useless, definitely affected the particle size distribution, i tried the ssp MP burrs in both and got a more uniform grind using them in the DF64
