Some of his first drawings in the video are genuinely really good - he gets a lot of proportions right and a lot of them are nice to look at! keep it up big man, art is super fulfilling! it might seem like a slog at first, and it never really stops being difficult, but it's always such a good way to destress and relax
I know that it may sound like flattery, but as an artist from the moment you opened the sketchbook I was impressed! Even your early “bad” sketches showed me you had a good beginning understanding of proportion and form, something that can take new artists years to master. Keep practicing using references and learn your fundamentals, and I think your ability will skyrocket! Art is a lifelong journey, and even the masters can always learn, so don’t get discouraged.
This is OBSCENELY fast improvement, just so you know. It took me years of daily drawing to get to this point. You actually have an insane amount of natural talent. Don't give it up!
I AGREE!!! KEEP GOIN PEWDS!! and remember to have fun :D

Yes that’s what I’m saying!! But he still hates them 😭
If I'm honest (as an artist) : for someone who didn't spend his days training to draw, those first few sketches are actually really really good. Something tells me he has an innate sense for drawing, not everyone has it and it's not necessarily required to become an artist or anything but I definitely see it on full display here, he did a good job !
I think the same

Dude the feet and hands page made me gasp in awe. He's pretty darn good at it!
It’s about being visually creative. If you consume a lot of visual media you inevitably adhere some of those aesthetics to yourself.
everyone can draw, just put effort into it.
Drawing is an escape from reality, even if you draw something from real life. Your drawing are amazing and you should definetly continue your work. Hopefully you reach the goal you want.
drawing is less an escape from reality than it is an enhancement of reality
I’m struggling with perfectionism in my art. I’m so glad you made this video! It’s motivating and relaxing. Thank you Pewds!
As an artist, I can confirm you did an amazing job, artists always bump into a wall and sometimes we lose our motivation when we can't think about something new, but you did well, overall drawing improves with time, If you keep going you might learn how to draw portraits one day
He has the artist trait "always self judges his art in ways that he'll never accept them to be good" 😂
In my personal experience learning to draw is relatively simple, but it's also such a SLOW and gradual process that you can't easily see your own improvement, and the emotional torment of that is BRUTAL

thats so cool!!! i love seeing new artists come into their own :))) I'm glad you ended up liking your art, i hate seeing new artists make fun of themselves because they usually give up without knowing their full potential. ANYONE CAN COOK except in this case its !!anyone can draw!! i hope you continue drawing, its frustrating but rewarding at the same time. and to anyone else wanting to learn to draw: DO IT !!!! you're gonna be great. at first you may think its pointless, but if you ever feel like that, take a step back and draw something silly and fun. don't focus too much on being perfect, and take breaks. sometimes staring at your art for too long can make you think everything is terrible lol but you just need to come back to it at a later time and realize its not that bad. be kind to yourself. give yourself the same treatment you would to others
You give an example that drawing can be learned, not just a talent. “Practice makes perfect”
Perfect practice makes perfect
Tbh I'm not even sure if that counts for artists...most artists I've met have said that there's always more they want to improve lol!
I literally could not draw any of this given any amount of practice. I could get better but there is definitely an inherent talent in the ability of some people to draw. I'm in awe of people who can do it but I just can't get shading or drawing in 3d, I think my brain just doesn't work that way.
@@kent2574 perhaps you dont have to shade or draw in 3d. finding your own style and doing what works well for you is apart of the drawing process, and learning how to draw
imagine spending thousands of hours practicing a skill just to have it called a talent
you dont know how much this video means to us artists - with the increase of people using AI, not bothering with the fun of art, us artists losing our jobs, seeing someone with such a large following and community post a video like this is giving me hope :)
funnily enough, the advent of AI art pushed me to learn how to draw for real. Having agency over what and how you do things gives me so much joy.
Well, AI is cheap and generally does the job at putting together a decent image if not a great one with simple prompts and within like 1min. Course if I want something more sentimental made, I'll be commissioning an artist, but understand that times change. AI is trendy, new, and works for the most part.
@@IntertwiningRoseswow what a perspective. i find it haunting how people are just so fine with using ai to “generate” images when they’re simultaneously discrediting and stealing from other actual artists
@@sangletan7076 Honestly same. I tried out an art AI for fun not too long ago, and it made me appreciate my own art skills even more
@@daes04 It isnt stealing if the original piece of art is changed by more than a certain percentage. Especially since its changed so damn much to the point whatever AI makes is never able to be compared to whatever art it may have pulled from.
Im just stating why people use it. And that it does what it says it does. Never said I'd ever want people to sell generated art, but then again artists are doing that and using AI to complete/enhance their pieces.
So to say it is a wholly bad thing is ignorant.

@@christian3suarez i think it is the details that set apart a professional and a noob. I cant decide honestly the first day pages are better than my drawings in my whole life😂
Frrrrrrrrr
Well spent time achieves much more that lots of time spent .
@@Reiken2007 It's actually the opposite! The biggest difference between a professional and a noob is that a professional has a REALLY good understanding of the basics. Because basics are not just the "noob" part of drawing, they're the foundation that everything else is built on! So they're actually the most important, and that's why anyone can start drawing, practice the basics and learn how to draw :) Sadly a lot of people get lost in the details, which is what can make them feel like they're not improving, because the basics are actually way more important!

I’m actually trying to learn but everything is overwhelming
Totally, I always thought of art as the sort of thing that either you are born with the ability to do it or not at all, but everyone can keep practising and improving
It's also a talent since there are people who have it easier , but of course skill can be learned
Same for every skill, however there will always be people better than you and even prodigee's, but it's not a comp and shouldn't stop you from pursuing.

As an artist, i can attest that 90% of what you draw will be crap and you'll actually like 10%. But if you make twice as much crap, you'll make twice as much good stuff. For me, learning to accept imperfections and trusting the process was the most difficult in my journey.

Disagree totally. 90% of my draws don’t look like crap. Some may look bad some may look better but to look like crap that’s maybe a bit too much. I get your point in accepting the imperfections but you also should fight for good results and do your best everytime and in every chance you get. ❤️

I actually started drawing because of Kpop lmao. When I was younger, i used to draw anime characters but eventually lost interest. When I got into kpop, I didn't have a printer and I so badly wanted photos of my kpop idols that I could post in my room or in my notebook 😭
So I took it to my own hands and said "If i can't print them then I'll draw them" and went on a months straight journey drawing BTS members. I improved quite fast ngl, I guess it's cause I enjoyed the process and drew every single day.
Eventually I started experimenting with different art mediums, from portrait sketching to watercolor to pastels. I tried anatomy sketching and nude sketches. I also started experimenting with different art styles. I used to copy different artists' drawings to learn as well.
It's overwhelming in the beginning, especially when you start to find your very own art style. But I think that's the beauty of it, you experiment and go thru different phases.

Damn this was me 3 years ago when i tried to rekindle my passion for drawing, it was hard to even come to enjoy drawing for the first month or two and at the beginning i forced myself to draw at least once a week (that didnt happen), but then it went from once a week to twice, then to 3 times and 6 months ago i saw myself drawing everyday to the point where now i am doing it every chance i get, wether it be in a lecture hall or in the middle of the living room having a conversation.
If you are looking to nurture a passion whatever it may be, it doesnt have to be art, you should aim at setting goals for yourself, kind of like daily repeating quests, for me i started 3 years ago by simply collecting a bunch of artists off the internet that i liked and i wanted to learn things from and just copied them, at the beginning i collected 88 artists and before i realized it i had over 100 just by simply finding new ones every now and then, i also set a goal for .yself to fill an entire book with drawing, i would take an artist and pick 6-8 drawings that i like and fit them all in a page and try to make it look like a poster.
Just a week ago i had finally filled my book that was over 100 pages, and i have 24 artists left, i have gotten into digital art as well and its a pain, it feels like when i first started drawing and i just didnt like my art, but imma keep going until i start liking it, i even made a pixiv account to upload my digital art in order to force myself to draw on it 😂😂
One of the hardest things to do when teaching yourself to draw is to fill out sketchbooks with practice drawings (both good and bad). Thank you for inspiring me to get back into it!

@@breewashere i have never thought of social media posting being a reason for it, but i guess it makes sense, i always post my stuff online
Ik a lot have commented, but as an artist, you actually had quite a few drawings from the beginning that were really good! You seem to have a pretty good sense of balance and proportion from the start which is enviable imo. It was wonderful to see how much more excited you got about drawing when your art style ‘clicked’ with you, when you have that moment it’s like you can’t put down the pencil!
!!
I'm an artist and honestly I think every step along the way was great for different reason, you killed it. keep it up!
When you hate your work that means your brain is getting better at it but your hand hasn't caught up yet and it will.. you've got this keep it up!
the part where he used his art to do the gfuel sponsor was so good! loved it :D
i love that when he started to use reference he started to like his drawings more lol it's a lesson all artists learn at some point😂
That's what I was thinking! As a pro artist, drawing from reference is a must (before drawing from imagination) + Adding your personal interest makes it even better (in this case an anime/manga he liked)
you seriously have so much potential in art if this is just the start of it!! i hope you keep going, it'd be so cool to see you develop your own style!!
Crazy seeing all my favourite artists in the comments
@@Luneroz the art community is ON 😤 IT
These drawings are way better than what I could do so therefore they aren't that bad.
The fact that Felix drew HANDS PERFECTLY for just 1 day is just God tier
As an artist, I relate to this so much 😂
"Why can't I draw?"
"Day 21. Still panicking."
"These are not that bad, I like these! Why can't I do it every time???"
What an inspirational video, you made me wanna draw more!❤
As an artist it bugs me when people say “you’re so talented/gifted/etc” - Nono it’s years of THIS. Thank you. It’s wholesome seeing the journey in its entirety. Romanticising the process helps combat the “I should be good at this right away” mentality for people and encourages new artists!
So so true. There’s a threshold where it’s not talent, it’s all a game of skill. It’s not that people aren’t talented, it’s that they aren’t skilled yet. But saying “Your worst drawing is better than my best” always gets 10K likes, so that’ll never stop
He has been interested in drawing and graphics since childhood as he said himself in a rolling stone interview years ago. This has been evident from at least, over 10 years:
HOW TO DRAW. - (Fridays With PewDiePie - Part 82) - 9 years ago.
Draw Me Challenge - 8 years ago.
"FIXING" FANART (Pewdiepie Photoshop) - 7 years ago.
HOW TO DRAW HOT GIRL! - 7 years ago. (he was prowling anime artstyle tutorials).
DRAWING TOGETHER WITH FANS! - (Fridays With PewDiePie - Part 103) - 7 years ago.
DRAWING UA-camRS - 6 years ago.
PLEASE BUY THIS! - 6 years. (he is looking for drawing in video games).
Fixing Sonic the Hedgehog - 4 years ago. (he sold his doodle on Ebay for 13 MILLION DOLLARS).
He claims to not know how to draw, but he already developed the dexterity from doodling for more than a decade. In this video he just lowered his goal of drawing detalied anime characters, to doing cartoon manga characters. He has said countless times how really wants to draw manga and how much a manga fan he is. He knows he can get millions by selling this doodles too.
As a digital artist for years, the progress is impressive! This is amazing 💗 Im glad you kept going! This inspired me to do a thirty day drawing challenge of my own! Thanks ☺️
8:58 YOU MANAGED TO DO A FORESHORTENED ARM IN LESS THAN A MONTH OF DRAWING!?!?!??!?!?

I’m surprised with the amount of positive tweets I’ve seen about this video, pewds isn’t in everyone’s good books (especially on twitter) but it’s a pleasant surprise to see people commend his progress and seeing other artists share their own journey about how they learned to draw.
Even some people are saying they’re now learning to draw because of pewds and posting their progress photos, this is all so wholesome to me idk why
I get it honestly. This is literally the first Pewds video i have watched (well if you don't count Trash Taste" and it's... well in a time where people wanna act like drawing is never an option for them there is the video fo one really famous dude saying "i am gonna try it" and then succeeding phenominally.
Honestly there was a time I stopped watching him (2016, you know why). I don't even watch his contents regularly now. But seeing him change as a person (in a good way) in his recent vlog and now THIS? I feel like he's just enjoying his life and being human. Not saying he's devoid of any mistakes, but a mature person learns from their mistakes and do better
@@Mirro18 It's all about that growth mindset!
@@meiyosei78 Ppl tend to forget that Felix spent most of his adolescent online. So we got to see him change from a goofy kid, to an edgelord, to a responsible young adult.
Now he's a Father, and Ppl like to harp on the edgy stuff he did which was a footnote in his life. So many of us had that "Stage" in our lives, a lot of us are probably going through them as we speak. But Felix is a public figure and held to a (Sadly) unimaginable standard.
One of the best thing he could have done was remove himself from social media altogether, and actually focus on building a life for himself and his family, and never doubling down on what he's done in the past.
@@meiyosei78 Right??? I feel like we’re entering a brand new pewdiepie era where we mostly see wholesome and light hearted content. I follow both him and Marzia on instagram and seeing them post moments of their lives together with their son is so heartwarming, especially since I’ve watched him since middle school and now I’m in my 3rd year of college, time really does fly
I love that he points out the Marzias…as if it isn’t clear that they are all Marzia variants or inspired. Love that
I LOOOOVE videos like this. We need more videos of people learning to draw! The journey is so heart swellingly fun to watch as an artist
Currently in my 3rd year of Art school and I cannot stress enough - ALWAYS USE REFERENCES. You can always tell when references have been used or when you are drawing straight from your head. My teachers always stress the importance of reference. Amazing start Pewds! Also, don't be hard on yourself. Drawing humans is literally one of the hardest things to learn to draw.
But that makes you always dependent on some reference. I would love to be able to create something from my mind but it's too hard and I don't like the results
@@nanelikahya9949the more you draw with reference, the easier it will be to eventually draw from your head😁 this is because when you draw from reference repetitively, you’ll remember how to draw certain things and then apply it. Then you can draw whatever it is you’d like one day 😌
@@nanelikahya9949 seeing something constantly can tie it to memory. This works across different media too. I sewed a couple cosplays from the game Bloodborne and now I can draw the outfits from memory because I spent almost a full year studying references of them
@@nanelikahya9949think of your imagination like a library. Or a dictionary. You need to add to it first, and then you can pick apart and apply those things later.
@@nanelikahya9949 the reason why people can create drawings without a reference is because they drew them so much with reference that its ingrained in their brain. look up the late master kim jung gi, he'll tell u that exactly.
Pewds is literally the embodiment of all of us artists trying to learn anything art related.

There's so much I would love to write, but then I'd be writing a book. But, one of the biggest things about being an artist (imo) is there will be days when you just think your art is gas from an ass. Like, wtf did I draw? And other days you can't draw shit even when you want to. But, taking a step back and coming back to the drawing to see it wasn't bad is nice. Another thing is that you'll always be your worst critic. You can have all the experience in the world, all the people telling you how amazing your art looks... and it's not good enough for you. When it is. It's amazing to see Felix's progress like this. It's impressive. So don't be too hard on yourself, I know when I started, it was straight-up booty cheeks. I started around 10 and am currently 21, and I still have a lot to learn.
Every single drawing he said looks horrible is actually really good. Really proud of how good he was getting so quick especially for someone who doesn’t draw often.
I think this is a good example of the process every artist goes through. Frustration at lack of progression is part of the process and it encourages you to try different things- styles, techniques, whatnots. I’m glad he decided to document it all.
AS AN ARTIST THIS IS SO WONDERFUL TO SEE!!! THE JOURNY YOU WENT THREW IS LOVELY AND SEEING YOU LOVE YOUR ART AND FIND YOUR WAY BY THE END IS BEAUTIFUULLL. I love these lil girlies they so cute! I always say to people if they are struggling with one style, then try another because finding an ‘art style’ is so damn hard and honestly so weird, so seeing you experiment was so wholesome.
im finally getting back into art after a rough couple of years and this was incredibly inspirational to me. thank you for having the courage to share your work and experiences with us
It’s actually because of this video that I’ve been drawing everyday for the past two months. Thanks pewds

I've always wanted to learn drawing and sometimes I started but every time I would give up because of stress, expectations, comparing myself with others, slow progress etc. Somebody may think:" what's so hard? Just take pencil and draw." But every time it was realli challenging to take pencil in hand . I drew really really slow afraid that my painting would come out bad. If I drew something nice I would say it's just luck. This video strongly motivated me. I decided to do it myself and here I am-it's evening of 31 day. Everyday I drew in general for 1/ 2 hours. During this month I've learned more than through all past years. Not very much actually but now I understand that it's okay-learning art is hard and it may take lots of time. I think people usually get frustrated exactly because of this-they think that something is easier than it is and then start to think that problem lies in them. But progress in skills isn't the most important thing I've achieved. During this challenge I overcame my fears and psychological barriers. Sometimes I hear their "whisper" and I know that it's a long way to go in order to fully get rid of them if it's possible at all. But I've already done a big step on this road and drawing is not something stressful anymore, I learned to get more enjoyment from it and I'm gonna continue to draw. Thank you very much for this video😁.

This is honestly really encouraging as an artist. I’ve drawn my whole life but I’ve been struggling with art for a few months, not proud of anything I’ve made. It’s reassuring to see that in such a short amount of time a person can really improve and learn SO MUCH. Makes me want to set a goal to draw for 30 days straight myself.
