We played Hallelujah at my Nana's funeral 17 years ago. It took 12 before I could even listen to the song. She wasn't a metal fan but loved anything with the words Hallelujah spoken in them.

That's not what the song is about.
It's not what the song's about (about the break up of his marriage, IIRC) but that's the beauty of music--we-re free to interpret. I feel like that might be part of the reason that Mr. Cohen wrote it this way... It took him 5 years to write and he ended up with something like 80+ verses; whittled down to about 7-8 (he only used 3-4 at a time, switching it up). I once found all of them on the internet somewhere-- I wish someone would record all the verses! Absolutely beautiful all the way through!💝💝💝
@@juliastraus4273 There's some of the cut verses floating around, but his version has different ones compared to most covers if you listen to them back to back and all of the post-Jeff Buckley covers all seem to have the same maudlin sad theme instead of the ironic sense of humor Cohen's own does. If you look up interviews you can find some of them. As far as I know the only full version is in Cohen's estate on paper since it was written so long ago.

Hard to find really good true Rock music these days for those of us who grew up listening to true rock bands of the 70s, 80s. This is a great version of this song. Love the drum part and including violin. Great job No Resolve.

My only issue with this cover is that it only contains the first three verses! Would be amazing to have a longer cover.

I just want to say guys, Amazing Job. Your guys style and passion for music is beautiful. With that being said, this song has saved me,your version saved me. Your melodic rock version hit me real deep. Over these past few months and into the holidays my mind, depression and anxiety has really gone down a deep dark path. Lost some very close friends and multiple negative blows against me. This morning was almost my last. I've been struggling oh so badly, and losing this battle, but earlier this afternoon my wife shared this with me. It touched me deep causedro look back up into my wife's eyes and saw the fight to stay. It had me think a different way from this version. Struggling mental health is not a joke and becoming increasingly worse on many. I've been listening to you guys for awhile and your guys versions, style and passion really helped me today. Thank you, seriously thank you from the bottom of my heart. my wife thanks you as well. Keep the passion going for music, you might not know you help or save.

When we lost our son Patrick🦋 the Pentatonix version of Hallelujah was on repeat in my mind for over a year it held me in a place of grief and pain that was a comfort I can’t explain.
Tonight I came across this version and it was perfection- like he was telling me “mama you made it, losing me didn’t break you…I am here…you do not give up EVER- keep fighting for my big sisters”
I have several of my dad's favourite singers pop up from time to time. It's not my kind of music so to hear John Denver out of nowhere I knew this was his way of saying hi. I insisted his playlist being played while he laid there in his bed. I don't want to offend you but does that specific butterfly have meaning? A few years ago my best friend visited me in a dream as a purple butterfly. Now whenever I see one painted or animated somewhere I know it's him checking on me. He is finally free.

I live and breathe rock. ESPECIALLY hard rock. And this song, normally, shouldn't be made into a rock song. THIS is the only exception I've ever heard. It's such a beautiful song that rock usually seems to take away from the just overall greatness of the song. This shows both what it was originally intended to show, and rocks it out! This, and the Tori Kelly version, IMHO, are the very best versions!
