How strange, I just came looking at your channel to see whether you did any Disturbed covers after I'd heard you on a Jonathan Young collab (definitely not for the first time) and it struck me how much the sound of your voice reminded me of Disturbed! I am a 60 years old metal head so I know the original from Simon & Garfunkel.
I loved that song from the first time as I was a child.
Over the years my music changed a lot. In the 70's/80's I was listening to bands like Uriah Heep, Deep Purple and, yes, Bob Marley...
It changed to bands like AC/DC, Metallica, SOAD etc.
Honestly I didn't know Disturbed before but when their version get viral it blew me away it was like a explosion inside of me that want to break out and I was really happy...
This version hit me like a bomb and I heard it day after day many times for weeks.
This song couldn't be sang better.... I thought...

His voice is so powerful and unique and his look fit perfect for vikings...
My ancestors were vikings from Sweden and I felt always connected to the North since I was a child.

I expected it to be really REALLY similar to Disturb's version of the song, because your vocals are pretty close in depth but your version is clearly your own, and I did NOT expect the feels to hit me like they do. Amazing AMAZING work. Setting this on loop all day!

Peyton's voice almost has the dual notes of a Mongolian throat singer - just brilliant!
So... the original was the warning, Disturbed was the anger, Pentatonix was the longing, Geoff was the hope... and now Peyton is the "heading into the final boss battle" version. Got it.
I absolutely loved Disturbed's version. I still get chills listening to it. However I have to admit yours is another interpretation that gives me chills! It's so powerful. I love it!
Exactly, its hard to really compare both as they are their own thing. Disturbed's version is more axed towards vocals only. Peyton made it voice AND instrumental, almost orchestral and honestly, both are epic.
I tried to sing along to the Disturbed version, but cannot match the higher notes he reaches without (apparent) effort. This version - once the goosebumps recede - is more within my reach.. and while i love the Disturbed version for sure - this one is my favorite..
I got chills. I think it would be great for the two of them to get together as well to perform this song.

Dude, if you think Disturbed's version can't be topped, you haven't heard Jonathan Young's version or possibly even better, Dan Vasc's version. Give both of those a listen.

Disturbed's version is amazing, but you're so right; I'm really feeling this one. J Young is great, but Dan Vasc doesn't put enough feeling in his music. He has some dumb sexist ideas about being manly enough. So glad I found Jonathan and Peyton here, cause they beat him out hard 🖤

I disagree. The Simon and Garfunkle is basically a mockery of the song. Theirs is too light hearted for the lyrics of the song. You can say that they popularized it, but Disturbed are the ones that mastered it. In this one Peyton nailed it and indeed gave it a more epic feel to it.
The original, yes. I never understood why people liked it better. They must have thought so too, because when they themselves sang it later (in the 90's I think) it was completely different. I've watched at least 7 good renditions that each had a very different feel despite being the same song. None are necessarily better than the others, just different.
Peyton brought this version to the Viking Gods. Odin himself winked. Maybe he blinked. It was hard to tell. 😅

I’m an old Simon and Garfunkel fan. Disturb did an excellent version that gives me the chills when I hear it. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this version and to be honest when I first started listening I thought there were a few chances to have really gone big with his voice and music. But I wasn’t let down. The further into the song the bigger he became! I almost cried hearing the voice tell me the story that’s in this song that the emotions his voice brought to the song was absolutely stunning!! A+++++
Disturbed’s version gives a feeling on helplessness and dread but in a calming way. Peyton’s version makes me feel hopeful and inspired.

No way this out did David Draiman and Disturbed! It was really good and I will download it and enjoy it over and over. I like Peyton’s voice. It has a tribal depth in sound where David’s voice has a full range in sound like angelic to a powerful deep war cry!

I just dropped my phone listening to this cover, Disturbed rocked a cover of this track and both versions take my breath away! Listening to it again and again and again..... Absolutely no words!
Not as clean as Disturbed's version but, It's also a testament to how incredible this song was written for it to be sang in so many different ways and always be incredible.
I got chills again like I was hearing it for the first time. You guys have a very unique sound and I love it! Keep it coming boys! Phenomenal job!

I wont lie, to say that I was extremely apprehensive on this one Peyton would be a huge understatement. Peyton don’t get me wrong I love your work and your voice, I am glad I stumbled across your Viking wedding song “Fall into me” because it is what introduced me to you.
Peyton you can do anything you put your mind to and have knocked out some awesome as hell songs and covers too.
But sound of silence holds a special place in my heart and David’s cover imo will never be topped but you pulled a very close second. I would LOVE to see you and David sing this in a duet. ❤🎶
