@@JumboWatermelon I don’t think there is a “right” version of that verse. It’s been the holy dove, holy dark, and holy light alternatively. That fits with the spirit of the piece, though, because the piece is centered around the subjective emotional interpretation of the word “Hallelujah”. It’s different in different situations - means different things to different people - it’s more like an exclamation than anything else. It’s a much more abstract song, I think, than most people appreciate.
Honestly you should listen to the various versions of Hallelujah. I think I’ve heard at least 13 of them. I believe some people made their own verses. It’s really moving, and hearing everyone relate to it in their own way makes me feel connected to humanity. I love that they did this piece in 5 parts with different artists. To me it’s become a piece that symbolizes the unity of the emotional experience of life.

All of the people in the musical are his friends too they all participate in it. He's also done spinoffs of disney songs cause he loves Disney! He's made a disney villain mashup, and a lot of other mash ups. He has an original song dedicated to Disney called A Gay Disney Prince and he collabed with Jon Cozart in that video. And he has a song all about mental health but in a happy way called Recipe For Me! So Thomas as a LOT of original content. He has 24 if I remember right or I might be miscounting and there's more. Sorry I'm ranting.
I've definitely seen this song requested for a wedding ceremony more than once, both the Leonard Cohen and Beyonce versions, and I still don't really understand why. I think people just like the harmony and tune, without listening to the lyrics.
The Tale Of The Famed 5 Suits: Upon your walk around the old theatre, you start hearing singing. You yell out, "Who's there?!" The voice just kept singing. The one voice grew into 2, then into 3, then 4, and lastly 5. All singing im parts and eventually synchronization. You peer onto the stage to see 5 ghostly men in suits singing to a faded crowd of the dead. Theres no fear in you, but there is a calming feeling and joy. When the ghosts stopped singing they bowed and disappeared. Along with their departure the ghostly crowd clapped while slowly disappearing. As the room finally went silent you go to stand on the stage looking around. You smile and go back to your duty now realising that nothing bad is there, but only the ghosts of the past continuing their performance.

I seriously need to listen to this today, because my family's two dogs just died within 4 days of each other. They both lived full lives, but we're all gonna miss them. And this song kinda helps, so thanks guys.
I quite enjoyed it, but I started to get amused when some of the singers pronounced "you" in full instead of rhyming it with the main word. "Ya/yah" applies to nearly every line-ending "you" in this piece, aside from the one that rhymes with "too". The last three singers definitely made this flub. I didn't notice it in the previous verses but I'm too tired to go double-check just now. A reminder, I suppose, that the little oddities and quirks don't keep a song from being a great pleasure to listen to. (I'm still amused at Dan Vasc pronouncing "Thompson" with a TH sound in Northwest Passage, which is such a badass rendition with just that little hint of quirk.)

Hallelujah
[Verse 4: Thomas Sanders]
There was a time you let me know
What's real and going on below
But now you never show it to me, do you?
And remember when I moved in you
The holy dark was moving too
And every breath we drew was Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
[Verse 5: Caleb Hyles]
Well, maybe there's a God above
But all I've ever learned from love
Was how to shoot at someone who outdrew you
And it's not a cry that you hear at night
It's not somebody who's seen the light
It's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah
[Outro: All]
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

I never realized how soft Thomas 's voice is before listening to him sing alongside strong and deep voices. It reminds me how light his voice is, honestly.
He was singing soft. He can do power vocals, and he's a baritone. It was a stylistic choice for the song.
@@WelcomeApathy yes, I know and I'm saying I never realized how soft he can be. /nm. I mean, I have listened to his songs and covers before. I just like how light his voice is in this cover.
Which one is Thomas? Im having a hard time telling.

He definitely has a more Broadway good boy voice. I like the contrast it gives to the others' voices that are more gravelly.

THE VERSE THOMAS SANG, I HAD NEVER HEARD IT BEFORE NOW- Sorry, this cover sent literal shivers down my spine and gave me so many endorphins....
Well, it's supposed to be "Holy Dove." It's not Dark or Duck, like he sang.
Same
@@JumboWatermelon I don’t think there is a “right” version of that verse.
@@AK-jt7kh I have heard a few of them, but the ones that have it use dove.

Gods, your collabs are always so... heavy? Intense? Epic? I don't know the word. You capture something in these that I just don't get from too many other collabs, big or small. When you rally the bois and I see that wonderful graphic light up with the vocals through the song, I'm near tears. Joy, beauty, sorrow, or pure astonishment, the tears are pure and I couldn't be happier about that. Thank you, all you wonderful gents for this wonder. And thanks as well to all the beautiful people listening to and supporting you guys with me. Godspeed, lads.
No words describe their Collabs.
Even in solemnity, we find the delights of cooperation are steeped with brevity, and a lightness that cannot be spoken, only heard.
Definitely epic
I think maybe you might be looking for the word "enrapturing".
Mesmerizing
I came here because of Dan Vasc, have never heard of the other performers.. Every one was wonderful, great harmony done by all. This was beautifully done.
I feel like Thomas Sanders is Loki in disguise. How can a man be so wildly talented all over and be able to deliver it perfectly

I said, aloud, “Huuh, dude!” when I read the words “hallelujah” and “Thomas Sanders” for this collab. Let’s go! This is already perfection. I can feel it.
This was my grandmother's favorite song. She passed away back in April, and this came out briefly before what would be her 81st birthday.
Needless to say, I cried a bit.
Well done.
I'm sorry for your loss
I'm sorry, I'm sure she's watching over you now 🤗
I'm so sorry for your loss but don't worry she's in a better place now!
So Sorry for your loss But She will be Listening to This Forever in Heaven.
I just want to point out that these guys have amazing bands that have been over shadowed by their cover careers, but should be recognized for great ORIGINAL music.
Caleb Hyles is in FROM THE DARK
Dan Vasc is in FEARLESS
Jonathan Young is in GALACTIKRAKEN.
All of them are outstanding power metal bands, all unsigned.
I should mention I don't know the other singers, they may have original projects, as well.
Galactikraken is less a band and more Jon creating an in-universe band to say they made the songs. It's entirely his own show
@@aragorn767 I can help with Thomas! I'm a HUGE fan of Thomas so-
He has original songs such as On The Borderline, The Things We Used to Share, AND! He also has his own youtube series with original songs in there! Not to mention he has his own musical written by him and his fans and it's really good!!
Which! I do strongly suggest checking out his content he makes a lot of content with his friends, lgbtq+ q&a's, songs obviously, and a lot more. And not to mention that show I mentioned! It's called Sanders Sides and I'm obsessed with it cause it's so good he's a great actor.
Caleb did work for the soundtrack of RWBY Volume 7, Ironwood's theme, "Hero" is entirely his vocals I believe.
THANK U
This was a real touch of nostalgia for me
Back in about 2009, I sang this on stage at a varity show with my grandfather playing the saxophone and a family friend playing the piano. My grandfather was a beautiful saxophone player and was entirely self taught and could learn a song by ear in a matter of a couple days. He passed away almost 4 years ago now, so this was a nice little walk down memory lane for me
so sorry for your loss. i lost my grandad to COVID over a year ago now (April 2020) and it's been very hard, even not seeing his face or hearing his voice.
@@diamond_dude1011 I feel for you, my friend and I am sorry for your loss as well. I like to imagine this is like a group of guys bonding in a bar over being sad, like in a musical
like i can see it in a move where each guy had something happen and now they are crying over beers with buddies.
Colm is a musician, he had a partner and they had a big show together, but they (the partner) just wanted the glory and ditched him as soon as they got some recognition

Are those angels singing?
We are all blessed to hear these angel-like voices yalls.
This is so, so beautiful, but I can't help but miss the two verses from Cohen's original...two of the best ever written, in my opinion.
I'd have killed to hear you guys sing "there's a blaze of light in every word/it doesn't matter which you heard/the holy or the broken Hallelujah". As for hearing "and even though it all went wrong/I'll stand before the lord of song/with nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah" from any of you, it would probably have led to my spontaneous combustion.
That's why they had to skip those verses, it's against UA-cam TOS to make viewers spontaneously combust.
First it's these 3 amazing dark, low voices, then there's our Angel, Thomas 🥰 and then this beautiful raspy voice. But when they all came together, man I got chicken skin all over 🤗💕✨️

@@datdude888 This is why I love "the sound of silence" so much, most people these days are just interested in catchy pop songs without caring about the story told or emotions communicated (or lack there of).
Unlike a lot of older people who just want to complain about younger generations in general, I'm not saying that some artists don't try, but that the industry is based on money and therefore consistent success, which is just not how the creative process works for most people.

The Tale Of The Famed 5 Suits:
Upon your walk around the old theatre, you start hearing singing.
You yell out, "Who's there?!"
The voice just kept singing.

An hour later I recieved a call from my mother that she found my older brother dead in the shower. He died at the same time I listened to this song. I'm not religious, but the song gave me the chills. Now I listen to this song on repeat the whole day. My brother would have loved this version of halleluja. PERFECTION! Absolute perfection! Everyone sang beautifully. These crossovers just keep on getting better.
