Nice shave Dave. By the way, cartridge razors have the best blade support among razors. And even though I am no longer a cartridge razor, unless you are buying a safety razor of very good quality (possibly an expensive cnc one), most safety razors have a blade chatter. This was one of the biggest propositions why over a period of time people moved to cartridges. Of course, it is the multi blade factor that causes the burn, ingrown and one trying to push a dull cartridge because they are so expensive. Give Gillette guard a shot, a single blade cartridge razor a shot and you may be able to assess. Cheers!
It's nice to see that you are still making videos for beginners. Last time I bought something for my shaving setup was January. Bought the 5/6 plate for my Rockwell 2c. Since then nothing. Really is cheaper than using disposable razors. Less irritation and closer shaves. Honestly the best choice I have made.
Great basic shave video. I just wish this stuff was around back when I first made the switch. Better shave soap, alum blocks and finishing products while probably existed weren't yet so prevalent in youtube. That and we now have preshave products . Thanks again for the video.

Great video and advice as always! I have a question for you. I got the timeless brush and have tried the synbad knot which didnt seem to be made well. Didn't have a strong backbone and hairs friz and fall out on the first use. I then got the golden nib which is made well but still doesn't have much of a backbone. Which knot is the best in your opinion?
Dave Awesome video! I has the switch back to safety Razors about 3 months ago! I love that I went back to old school wet shaving! Keep making great videos!
Great video. I only thing I do is that I use CREMO shaving cream as a pre-shave. I add lots of water to it so it's super slick then I paint the lather on my face. I typically bowl lather but face lathering is great as well.
I use a Bevel safety razor and a King C Gilette safety razor also. Safety razors seems to be the best razor for me. And cartridge razors seem to tug alot when the blades get dull. Straight razors are too difficult to use in my opinion because it is more likely to nick myself and irritate my skin even more. And you have to strop the straight razor more.
I've dropped my Simson T3 several times, didn't crack. It's made from Polyester plastic rod turned on CNC Lathes. If it were made of porcelain, it would have shattered !
That's why I like the adjustable shaving brush from timeless. I can just buy any not I want and throw it into this handle. One of the best inventions I have ever seen in the wet shaving community in the last few years.
Great how to video. I have been wet shaving only 3 years and found out that it really is easier than I thought. Also you are never to old to start. I was 70 when I did my first safety razor shave and love it. have a great week. 👍

@@brianasbury8315 you can save money if you’re the average shaver. I have also fallen down the rabbit hole. Just bought a gillette collection.. can’t wait to get them in and clean them up! A also have an Aylsworth Apex on its way in!
One thing I would like to add for those with fine hair, sensitive skin, and shaves everyday. I can only manage one pass, anything more than that, my face gets irritated, so I actually do one pass against the grain. It took me months to figure that out. But it was also only certain blades that gave me that smooth shave without the irritation. Primarily Gillette platinum, Wilkinson, and persona platinum. Something like feather was too much for my skin to handle.
that's a tough one. If you want a adjustable razor, I would go with Rockwell. If you want the best razor that Henson makes. Go with the Henson Ti22 It is one of my favorite razors to use. Better than the AL 13
@@fanyingwei5221 that's kind of a YMMV question. I like aggressive razors, a lot of gents don't. It's about what works best for you personally. A lot of gents like the Merkur 34C, me, not so much.
Thanks for this demo. When making a lather, extracting lather from the knot earlier in the process (or throughout the process) and re-working it should create more lather over the course of the shave.
I think my method is pretty solid. what do you think? I only twisted out the soap of the knot when I’m done shaving. I only do two passes on every shave so I twist the soap out of the knot not to waste it.
@@OhioShaves It just seems the lather would be better developed for earlier parts of the shave, instead of leaving a portion of it in the knot until the end. When bowl lathering, I can make plenty of lather with only a pea-sized amount of soap scraped from a container.

Cheers!
No more disposable razors for me. But thanks for sharing.
Excellent 👏👏👏
Thank you very much
It's nice to see that you are still making videos for beginners. Last time I bought something for my shaving setup was January. Bought the 5/6 plate for my Rockwell 2c. Since then nothing. Really is cheaper than using disposable razors. Less irritation and closer shaves. Honestly the best choice I have made.
That’s great news. Thanks for sharing with us. It will be very helpful.
Spot on, just beginning myself, and I appreciate this video. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for your support
Great basic shave video. I just wish this stuff was around back when I first made the switch. Better shave soap, alum blocks and finishing products while probably existed weren't yet so prevalent in youtube. That and we now have preshave products . Thanks again for the video.
I agree Jeff
Great shave ohio rockwell 6s and merkur 34c brilliant recommendations by you no blade shatter or irritation. I dont think i bother getting henson or yeats .great products ohio .nice cilled vedio respect.
Thank you much
Great video and advice as always!
I use the G5S. Plenty of backbone and I’ve used it in several videos.
Dave
Awesome video! I has the switch back to safety Razors about 3 months ago! I love that I went back to old school wet shaving! Keep making great videos!
That is awesome! Thanks for your support
Great video. I only thing I do is that I use CREMO shaving cream as a pre-shave. I add lots of water to it so it's super slick then I paint the lather on my face. I typically bowl lather but face lathering is great as well.
Thanks for sharing!!
I’m not a big fan of straight razors as well
I've dropped my Simson T3 several times, didn't crack. It's made from Polyester plastic rod turned on CNC Lathes. If it were made of porcelain, it would have shattered !
Yeah, I’ve dropped mine before and it didn’t crack. A lot of people have complained that they’ve dropped their on their floor and they have cracked.
Lately, I’ve gotten into getting vintage brushes with old, worn out badger or boar knots and putting new synthetics in them.
Good read. Thanks for your support
Love this. Step by step how to save yourself tons of money and get a perfect shave. And also it’s tons of fun! My latest razor that came in is the Rex Envoy and it is great! Love the videos! Keep them comin!!
@@GooonSquad12 well I don't know about saving money lolz 🤣
The rabbit hole is real
I have almost 30 razors (including 3 Schick Injectors) and about 3,000 double edge blades. As far as blades I don't know what else I can buy. So saving money is questionable. I get a lot of enjoyment out of it though.
Thanks for sharing
those are my three favorite blades too, wilkenson from germany is my number one
Hello, Rockwell 6S or Henson Ti22 ? Which have better shave ?
that's a tough one.
@borbetomagus you can lather as much as you like
Bro are you used single edge gillette guard razor?
no
For me i almost always cut and hurt my neck , it burn after shaving my neck especially if i go against the hair
And sometimes i cant go against the hair
Practice
@@OhioShaves i guess the shaving cream i use is bad , and i use that razor that have four blades for the super market from Gillette , plus i dont wait for the cream to take it time but i learned that from u , thank u very much , but also when i go to barber its also burn and he dont go against the hair , and the barber i go to now he put some device idk what its called but it spray hot water and shave against the hair i dont feel burn when he is shaving but after he finish maybe a lil
@@OhioShaves i told that barber i have sensitive skin he dont listen to me , that the one who does not go against the hair but the one that go against the hair with the hot water i didnt tell him i have sensitive skin
I'm just outside Cleveland, where can I find that soap?
I don't think she has a storefront property. You can buy it online through Timeless Razor. Also, you can save 10% through Monday night. timelessrazor.com/products/trbr-adjustable-brush-handle-holds-knots-20-mm-to-28-mm?rs_ref=giTOaqy8
@@OhioShaves Thanks
It's also available directly from Shannon's Soaps, where they have about 20 different soap options. Maggard Razors seems to carry even more Shannon's Soap varieties, as some might be discontinued. Timeless Razor only carries about 5 of their soaps. Sadly, Imperial Shaving/Straight Razor Design in Medina (who carried Shannon's Soap products) closed in 2018.
@@OhioShaves According to her website, her soap is available at a Spinal Health Center on Wilson Mills Road in Mayfield...I'll be in the area, so I'll check that out soon.
@kaysguy Nice. Let me know if I should stop in
Excellent video!
Thank you very much! Have a great week
