Susana Morales was 16 years old, living in Norcross, Georgia when one night she suddenly disappeared. July 26th, 2022 was a seemingly normal evening, and Susana spent a few hours that night a block away from her house with a friend and her friend’s apartment. This was something she did often as it was less than a 10-minute walk from her house. But when she never came home that night, her family began to worry. She was reported missing the following morning, but it wasn’t until early February of 2023 that they got answers. On February 6th, Susana’s skeletal remains were found 20 miles from her home, and evidence left at this location led police officers to her killer, fellow police officer Miles Bryant. Bryant has since been arrested and charged with Susana’s murder, along with a string of other crimes he has committed.

I grew up in Norcross. When I was 15, I was SA’d by 3 guys in my front yard. My parents woke up in the middle of the night and had a feeling and looked outside when they didn’t find me in my room. They opened the front door and scared the guys off. I was drugged and left half beaten and semi conscious. They jumped in their car and left. They left behind tshirts, cigarette butts and even used condoms. The youngest of them, the one I thought was my friend, was 17 and his older cousins were 20 and 22. I didn’t know who I was, what was going on. R-kit determined I was in fact assaulted. Gwinnett PD did not collect any of the evidence. Left it all in my yard. Even though my brothers called them and asked them to come back out and collect it. When it began raining 7 hours after I was taken to the hospital, my brother bagged it all up individually using a stick and ziplocks. They then refused to take it at all stating it could have been tampered with. The detectives interviewed me while I was still drugged and accused me of consenting then taking it back out of fear of getting in trouble and told me I was going to “ruin these boys lives.” I still didn’t even understand the extent of what had taken place and happened to me and because I wasn’t hysterical and in tears, they also said they just didn’t believe me.
The 17 year old admitted to it but claimed I was his girlfriend. Even with his admission that would be by law statutory R at the very least. But no charges were brought against him. The solicitor told me for MY SAKE I should let it go because they’ll get a slap on the wrist and it would be in my best interest not to go through the trial. So that’s what I did. I’m 32 now and hearing cases tragedies like this still take place and Gwinnett PD just do not care makes my blood boil. I’m so sorry for her family. Always in my prayers. I am just so sorry you lost such a light.

I was bruised all over, scraped in between my thighs and had knots all on the back of my head and shoulder where they must have slammed me into the ground several times or a rock or tree. I’m really not sure. By the grace of God, I only have one haunting memory while it was happening. Everything else was a blur of that night. I couldn’t even tell the police what my name was but they said I consented. It makes no sense. Not to mention I wasn’t even at the age of consent. These guys were and should have been convicted. Especially the 17 who flat out admitted he did. They truly don’t care about justice. I lived on the poorer side of town so I guess I wasn’t worth the effort in their eyes. It’s despicable.

I hate that so many almost glorify the perp and or sensationalize the stories. And the fact that you turn around and use your platform to help others is so amazing. Thank you for the good work you do.

I'm sure Kendall herself won't see this, but thank you for covering this case. Susana was one of my friends friends, and Gwinnett was devastated by her murder. You brought up how Gwinnett discriminates against Hispanic people, and as someone living there, I can see this myself. When Susana went missing, posts about her were all over my instagram, and that was around the time where I started to notice that most of the people around Gwinnett that have gone missing have been Hispanic girls from the ages 15-18.
Susana has not been the only Hispanic girl in Gwinnett county that has gone missing or who has been murdered. Literally every few weeks, another Hispanic teenager is going missing in Gwinnett. It's mortifying what is going on here. If you can, covering more cases in Gwinnett of this nature would be so helpful. Gwinnett county is losing beautiful young women at an alarming rate, and it needs to be talked about more.

This really reminds me of the Sarah Everard case here in the UK. She was abducted, raped and murdered by a met police officer named Wayne Couzens. Turns out he abducted her under the pretence that she was being arrested for breaking covid lockdown rules. It also turned out that he had a long history of sexual offences against him including assault, stalking and public exposure and the met police knew about it the whole time! Despite him now being in prison for Sarah’s murder, he’s still being investigated for his other offences. The whole of the UK was disgusted and heartbroken by Sarah’s case and sadly it has led to a lot of people (especially women) losing complete faith in our police. It’s so sickening to realise that there are predators lurking in the forces that are meant to be protect us.

This! A lot of us lost faith in police a long time ago. I personally lost my faith in them on the day I finally found the courage to sit and ask them for help with a scary stalker ex. Whilst I was shivering in fear explaining the death threats I had just received, they looked at each other, giggled, turned back to me, smirked and said “what do you actually want us to do about it?”. I gave them all the proof including cctv of the person driving up & down my road in the early hours multiple times, parked outside trying to get into my house, trying to get into my car, damaging my car, drink driving & said it just sounds like a disgruntled ex & it should pass. I even had a neighbour call the police about him for creeping about at night & the car damage (I didn’t know the neighbour, but she later came to ask if I was ok as she had seen him so many times).I called back a day or so later because he was threatening my family, and the police said they didn’t have a registered case open from the previous calls/visit anyway. So they just ignored me basically. I had to move in the end.

I used to be a 999 (911) operator in the UK. We had similar problems with police forces dropping the ball on missing person cases historically and the whole "must wait 48hrs to report" malarky. Now all the forces here use a risk assessment for EVERY SINGLE missing person report. This includes a series of about 20 questions, such as "is the person vulnerable for any reason?" and "is this out of character?" Anyone under the age of 16 is automatically dealt with as high risk and for immediate response, unless there is good rationale to downgrade and even then only a high ranking officer can make that call. Every time I hear about a case like this, I wonder why these police departments are not following a similar sort of procedure.

It is so sad because before even starting the video I saw her name and I knew there would be mishandling from police, it is truly discusting to treat mourning people like that, how can you be discriminating a MISSING PERSON?
    My sympathies to the family

You are one of the few true crime UA-camrs I can watch. I’m not going to name anyone… but others sometimes make jokes or laugh a little toooo much during these type of videos. Like they become so desensitized from the stories, they forget or don’t realize that they’re speaking about someone’s loved one. Sister. Daughter. Friend. Grandkid. Etc. you always make yours so nicely, respectfully and with great information.

I am thankful that the family was able to recover Susana's remains. I do not believe in coincidences as far as the person stopping by on the side of the road to make a call and walking in the woods. I hope the murderer will be punished to the FULL extent of the law. No one is safe these days. When out, please keep mace at least or something on you at all times, guy or gal. Thank you, Kendall, for your great coverage of the case.

I was thinking the same thing. That's an awfully huge coincidence.
Made me wonder if the killer confessed to a friend what he did to Susana and then the friend had a guilty conscience and pretended to stumble across the body unknowingly. I'd love to know more if any connection is found between the person who called in the body and the killer.

When my daughter was 4 I called the police thinking something bad had happened because I couldn’t find her for 15-20 mins looking around the neighborhood. The police came within minutes! It seems strange the older the kid the less the police care about missing persons! My daughter ended up being at my neighbors house but how scary!

As a resident of the state of Georgia I am enraged! There is certainly NOT any waiting period to report someone missing. Especially if it’s a minor. I live less than 5 minutes away from where Laken Riley was murdered on the UGA Campus. She was reported missing at just after noon. They took the report seriously and found her less than 40 minutes later and very quickly arrested the suspect.
When someone in my area is reporting missing a nixl alert goes out and thankfully most people are found safe quickly.

Omg, if i lived in Gwinnett County I'd be very scared for mine & my family's safety! This is shocking, just absolutely UNACCEPTABLE! How have they gotten away with this kind of horrendous stuff for so long? God only knows how many other women, kids, even innocent people he's pulled over, that he's kidnapped, raped, assaulted, killed, stolen from, hurt, etc. The FBI ought to come in to that Police department and do a full investigation and also look at missing kids, young girls, women and unsolved murders because this POS could have victimized Many More!
I don't know how you do this Kendal Rae, I can barely get through THIS story! 😩

Gwinnett County PD's also facing backlash right now because a 4 yr old girl was hit and killed in the parking lot of Mall of Georgia by a teen driver (18). Originally the DA said they wouldn't press charges but now they say they intend to. It's disappointing to see this kind of stuff happen in my community.
