Even after 3/4 of a Billion credits, 1000 hours and 1.5 years. This video is one of the best I've seen. And thoroughly enjoyed watching. Perhaps in 2.0 you should make a new version for it?
This guide is over 9 years old at this point, but it’s still one of the best introductions to Elite I’ve ever seen. It clearly explains some of Elite’s difficult to explain concepts, and the narration and humor is spot on. I’m still coming back to it 9 years later to send to every single person I introduce the game to.
I. Am. Gobsmacked. Ahem, Frontier Developments, you owe this guy cash. NOW. In this one video we has not just the "How To's" of Elite, we have the heart and soul. Bad ass voice over, great shots, slick editing, and a bunch of Elite history crammed into the music soundtrack. And HHGTTG. I wish I could Thumbs Up twice.
This was an amazing experience. Great job on narrating, editing, everything. Game dev's should hire you to make their trailers. Fantastic job. Almost brought a tear to my eye.
Radlock this is amazing sir. Hands down one of the best tutorials for ANY game i have ever seen, and definitely the best for Elite Dangerous. So much good information without long pauses , but also with a bit of humor and entertainment. Keep up the great work.
This is amazing! I've seen a lot of videos, and nobody has simply said "outside ship on the left, inside ship on the right". Haven't even got past thatyet, I had to say thanks for that simple note!
The voice of god combined with a great compact video showing and explaining ED like I never could. Thank you for this video. I honestly think Frontier should use it officially.
I love this! Please do more explaining in detail ships, game mechanics e.t.c. Your voice is really soothing and captivating, do you do professional work?
That was a great introductory video! I learned a few tips I didn’t see in the tutorials and appreciated the dry sense of humor or the narrator. Thanks!
A little tip when approaching a station. The letterbox, the spot you enter the station with your ship, is always facing the planet that the station is orbiting. So if you place the planet directly behind you when exiting super cruise, you will end up generally in line with the entrance, saving a lot of time, especially when flying large trade ships.
+RadLock Recursion I am sure it was. I just thought that maybe someone new too the game might find that information useful, especially since Frontier sent all players your video in the dev news letter this month, so I am sure you will get a sudden rush of new players seeing this.
"This isn't Elite Mildly Inconvenient" Oh how true. Subbed as I like the cut of your jib Sir. Amusing, entertaining and informative for the Steamy noobs, great job keep en coming I say. Happy Hunting Commander :-)
4:10 Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space Nice...
I remember all these years ago, when I was still a noob... all I wanted at that time was a ship that had enough jump range to get me out of that FILTHY federal space. Ended up in Aymifa in the empire where I thrived ever since.
LOL...Sounds so much like Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. At the end of the video, when the commentator says, "...Welcome to the Galaxy, Commander.", I was half expecting him to say, "...and, Don't Panic."....LOL
YOU FORGOT.. Docking protocol .. GREEN lights and the RED lights for the correct side to approach the dock entrance /exit...... that way you wont run into ...ermmm smash into any other ship coming in the other direction. On entering = the green/red lights are on the ends of the poles commonly called the 'toast rack". on exiting the lights are either side of the 'docking - door' ( when length of the door is in the horizontal *.)* N.B with smaller ships ,suck as Sidewinder, Eagle and the Hauler .You can enter and leave by rotating 'your' ship "side-ways" so the docking - door is more vertical than horizontal. This Is a very handy tip, as you can 'squeeze' past very large ships coming in the opposite direction. Or, if you want to scare other pilots , try a barrel roll as you pass through.
I think when I was working on that video, the AI update to incorporate this was either fairly new or not implemented yet, but in any case yes, while the lights were originally designed to help you with orientation of the landing pads inside, the community has embraced their use as a right of way indication. If you watch some of my racing videos--you can see some more creative approaches to the mail slot.
I dont even like Elite Dangerous but goddamn do i love this channel! The Narrator is amazing! I could be an idiot (I often am but I dont let that stop me from saying stupid things) but he sounds a tiny bit Irish or maybe Scottish, but it's a very faint accent so I can't clearly tell.
Henji96 This was probably the third take to get the right voice I wanted for this, and then some magic of editing to condense down dead air when taking pauses in going through the script. But for the most part, it was a start to finish read in one take each time, just with a bit more spacing that I had to cut out to fit within 15 minutes.
+RadLock Recursion you really have done a great job, I hope you showed it to Frontier - should be an pfficial thing! I too love your HUD - thanks for posting the link. I am thinking you can't distinguish between hostile and neutral targets on the radar, right? Just curious, though obviously I can always try it for myself.
sorry if below is a bit picky but its my pet hate and so over looked by new players..Yet, well done totally agree with other comments below very nice video.
you started that missions are not a great way of getting money, but you never really say what is. You said trading might eventually become profitable, but nothing else. also, absolutely love your voice.
I plan to go into further detail on subsequent videos on specific topics (combat, trade, exploration) and how you can make money doing those things. I wanted to keep this brief, and I'm sure if I did put something in there, it would change and no longer be a great way of getting money (or something else would become better). Thanks!
"this is not Elite: Mildly Inconvenient" ... LOL that is awesome. Great video! love the commentary style
This felt like an official video...great job
Also if you don t already do voice acting you should look into it as you have a great voice
KalimaShaktide I agree he does have a great voice
all i can think about , is *Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy *
You might think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's peanuts to space.
Don't panic

Loving the HitchHikers references :D

outsidefactor Its a great tutorial, and helped me get into the game. Only just found out its not official.
ps: Fancy running into you here Outside
Holy crap! The compass actually points you at your landing pad? And here I was spinning my ship to get my eyes on them this whole time. >.
To say that I was disappointed that the video was over, would be an understatement. Your VO work is impeccable.
Hands down, THE BEST, ED video of this kind I've seen. In my 30 years of playing elite.
As one who attained Elite on the BBC B in 1984, I salute you!
This is a Good video.
Informative, well-made and with the occasional bit of humor that is never out of place.
Well done.
This was an amazing experience. Great job on narrating, editing, everything. Game dev's should hire you to make their trailers. Fantastic job. Almost brought a tear to my eye.

This deserves more views. It is so well made I could easily believe it was an official tutorial by Frontier.
FD should really hire you to make introduction tutorials that are included in the game menu. What a presentation! Good work!
Brilliantly informative. A must see for those just starting out and those who are wondering what ED is all about. Well done Radlock!

That was a great introductory video! I learned a few tips I didn’t see in the tutorials and appreciated the dry sense of humor or the narrator. Thanks!
Thanks for this, man. Big help!
Hot damn Radlock! You hold a gift, the gift of a golden voice!

So if you place the planet directly behind you when exiting super cruise, you will end up generally in line with the entrance, saving a lot of time, especially when flying large trade ships.
That's true, watching this again I realize that is never how I would approach a station--it must have been the interdiction that threw me off.
+RadLock Recursion I am sure it was. I just thought that maybe someone new too the game might find that information useful, especially since Frontier sent all players your video in the dev news letter this month, so I am sure you will get a sudden rush of new players seeing this.
Great video. A ton of information delivered a little too fast, but one of the best beginners guides for any game I've ever seen. :)
Radlock, Frontier should give you occasional work to do voiceovers, this is great! Imagine all the official tutorials had your voice and the humour?
This is so professionally done, and entertaining too. Excellent job!
Great introductory video! Bonus points for the Elite II theme
FANTASTIC video, holy crap. The game was downloading the background while I was watching... I found myself bouncing in my chair with excitement haha.
even though I've been playing for a year, this video was a treat to watch!
This is the best tutorial, and should be included in the game!
This is beautiful Radlock!, I would've loved something like this when I had started.
Great video. A must watch for any new pilot.
been playing for months and I learned something new!! Great video!!!
A great intro, particularly given that you sound a little like a pirate... ARRRR!
Mad Props for the Douglas Adams reference - Good job!
Excellent introduction/tutorial, mate! This would have saved me dozens of hours had it been available when I started playing, over 1,000 hours ago :-)
Dude, this was great. I'd love to see more like this.
Loved the little hat tip to Douglas Addams. good video.
I didn't read the description so I thought this was the official game tutorial lol. Amazingly done sir.
Very good job man. Subscribed and looking for more.
Especially a race practice tutorial.
Brilliant video for the new Cmdr. Well structured and scripted. Kudos
Great video and awesome voice, Commander! Learned a lot about the game.
What a golden video. Thank you for making this!
This is one of the best videos about ED I'v ever seen. They need to just go ahead and hire you lol!
"This isn't Elite Mildly Inconvenient" Oh how true. Subbed as I like the cut of your jib Sir. Amusing, entertaining and informative for the Steamy noobs, great job keep en coming I say. Happy Hunting Commander :-)
Very nice! Make more, please!
I actually learned two things and I've been flying for months. Good job.
Excellent video! Honestly, Frontier should be paying you for this.
I heard that little bit of the Frontier theme at the end there Rad!
Any video with radlock speaking is a good video imo
This is an amazing tutorial. Awesome job!!

Just picked this game up, great video!!
4:10 Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space

Seriously, this is a great vid! It's awesome! I wish I found this when I first started researching :D
Fantastic video. Felt official.
Should include this video in the official tutorials, make a number of them
I remember all these years ago, when I was still a noob... all I wanted at that time was a ship that had enough jump range to get me out of that FILTHY federal space. Ended up in Aymifa in the empire where I thrived ever since.

This is good.... very good indeed.
Phenomenal.
You should update this guide, Radlock! at around 7:20 you speak of resources in rings. That's the first thing, at least.
Did he just use Firefly slang? That's awesome.
Frontier Developments you might want to take a look at this, or post this on your website
Elite "mildly inconvenient" still laughing great video!
You should be an voice actor. Bravo commander o7
Cool video!
That Goram pirate!
He's great.
Dammit RadLock this is where you went.
Was this a one-take? If so it's very impressive!
Henji96 This was probably the third take to get the right voice I wanted for this, and then some magic of editing to condense down dead air when taking pauses in going through the script. What are the color numbers for your GUI...I love it!

they should make this video part of the tutorial
sorry if below is a bit picky but its my pet hate and so over looked by new players..Yet, well done totally agree with other comments below very nice video.
Did you migrate to ED from PS2 fully? If so I'm sure Connery is still grieving.
Mytiske Kriger I spend what little free time I have here at the moment, but I do open up PS2 on occasion.
Love your voice!
Nice
what are the joysticks that you use?
What hud theme is he using?! I want
Lol. Elite: Mildly Inconvenient!

RadLock Recursion Cool, looking forward to it since I just picked it up.
