Do yourself a favor if you read this first before watching the video, especially if you haven't seen interstellar yet. Get some headphones, and turn the volume up ~loud~. Like so loud you can't stand it, and maybe a little more. You won't regret the headache after such an ethereal experience.
Deathfyre11 Actually the game is really well optimized and can run on older systems. You should check if your PC meets the minimum. I have a friend with 4 year old laptop that is playing it on medium :D.
This is now my favorite Elite video ever. The great use of the Intersteller scores, the filter used to make the graphics look more realistic, you acting out the head movements, the build up of tension after the crisis, the piloting....this is beautiful. Great job!
After watching Interstellar, I searched for a game and came across Elite Dangerous. Instantly fell in love with it and believed it had huge potential. After several years, I see how Fdevs have kind of destroyed it, from what it truly could have become. Played it for a long time until I finally gave up. Odyssey was such a disaster! I truly feel sad for it. This video still remains my favourite one and remind me of what potential ED had in its early days :)
That was mindblowing, as in my mind has blown up and is now in pieces. I wish someone would make a mod that would incorporate Interstellar OST into the game in the dynamic way as you edited it.
6:37 That was the most beautifully graceful scene of all time, and hilariously interrupted by getting a little too cocky :) This video was awesome. It made me feel feels.
By far my favorite video of Elite Dangerous I've seen so far! I just started playing this game a few days ago and I've been stubborn in that I want to learn flying without flight assist. I switched it off early in training, and have been practicing flying through asteroids and getting out of the station in the two respective missions. Landing has been tough, but seeing this really makes me want to nail it! Thanks for sharing it!
My heart almost popped out of my chest in the end. And those scores always give me heavy feels anyway, so double trouble. Unexpectedly gorgeous experiment, this video. Thanks for sharing.
Never had that much goosebumps in a long time... EPIC video... THAT SOUNDTRACK THO!!! I thought that nobody would ever use interestellar ost in ED gameplay.. too epicc
This really was amazing. That Interstellar soundtrack gave me goosebumps and made me think back to the movie. My heart was pumping especially at the end. Well done man. This is going in my favorites list.
That, sir, is the single greatest UA-cam video I have ever seen. This was the story of a sad, lonely, mute pilot who struggled against adversity in the vast emptiness of space and survived to tell the tale. My feels were tugged when I cried in joy at the end. Thank you, and God speed fair traveller.
You know, and I don't say this lightly, this game looks fucking incredible. Just visually. This is the first time any kind of video game as actually taken my fucking breath away. I'm just saddened to know that my garbage laptop would most likely shit itself and die if I tried to play it.
The game is surprisingly well optimized, you'd be surprised on what you'll ba able to run it on. my beat up old Desktop that can barely run Crysis at high runs this on Ultra, with a slight bit of juddering when in station.
Yea Minimum Headroom, Im also playing elite on a 3 year old laptop, Nvidia 560M gfx card, and I'm able to run on good settings with no game play issues, definatly check it out, the other are right it is one of the most scalable to your hardware games i have ever played. Hope to see you out in the black Commander!
JAnx01 It's a beat up old stock Dell Studio from about 6 odd years ago with an Nvidia 650 GT and a power supply. And it runs the game on Ultra with minor stuttering near a station.
Wow, 2 seconds left! I was figuratively on the edge of my seat there. "He's not going to make it, he is so not going to make it...". I would have done an air punch if I hadn;t been sitting at my desk. Really great use of music to emphasise the drama too. Outstanding sir.
This video sold me the game last year. I got it on PS4 Now I just build my first PC and am tinkering with headtracking/saving up for VR for my little Mini ITX rig. Thank you!
That was absolutely amazing, I had goosebumps the entire time, well done syncing up the amazing parts of the soundtrack to the epic moments in your video. I will be showing this to family and friends on my projector screen when they come over to wow and amaze them, and to show them how good a video game could be.
I just want to say that I've been playing E:D for about a week and I just came across your video after watching a few gameplay videos on my dinner hour. This, was dramatic; it was genuinely intense and the score matched it perfectly. This video is fucking excellent well done sir. Subscribed.
Honestly this is the best E:D video, and one of my favourite youtube videos ever. This is just stellar (if you pardon the pun). Amazingly edited and the score was incredible. Good job.
I can't find the words. I've been watching ED & SC videos for months, as well as playing both titles, and I can't believe I haven't found this video before now. So fricken epic man...simply beautiful, immersing and satisfying to watch. Bravo! Added to my "Fav SC & ED" video folder!
OMG! This is like a first person movie! The headtracked point of view and the beautifull Elite Dangerous, just it. Very thrilling ending supported by a proper soundtrack. The best short film I ever seen.
The Elite Dangerous newsletter says "a feeling of realism in this cinematic video" - and it ain't lying! Amazing video, and outstanding work with the soundtrack too :)
I fucking recognized that Sound Track the moment the video started. God damn it makes this video that much more amazing. It blew my mind when the windshield blew out I was just speechless.
This video captures both the wonder that one would feel, as well as the urgency of the canopy breach... very nicely played with the Interstellar soundtrack. That is one of my most favorite movies. Great video man :)
How dinamic this game is... Most of the display is not just part of the game, it's actually displaying on your window! It's connected to the ship to give you a sense of whereabouts, but if it breaks, then you're left in the dust and can't lock on to any place! And you'll be left to die because you can't find a station to fix your ship. This is amazing. I've seen other games that let you cruise around space, Space Engineers and maybe the upcoming No Man's Land. But man, I have got to get a good gaming PC, and play Elite Dangerous, and then get an Oculus to play in VR. How does it feel to play Elite with the Oculus? Pretty amazing I believe.
+Fernando Langalú Playing with the Oculus/Vive is like really being that Space Cowboy. Your ship's UI is totally holographic and it looks REAL. It is REAL when you put your hand on the game-matching x52 HOTAS you bought (cuz you're in love with VR) and slam the thrust to full power and boost your ass out of a station, your heart pounds as you slip your ship through the exit slot barely scraping your hull. You forget you're in a game as you wander off into the black of space, land on a unique unexplored world and roam it's surface. You prepare for your Real and now immediate death when your enemies overwhelm you and deplete your hull to 0, with sparks flying and no more oxygen-- even though you can still breathe RL air, you subconsciously start holding your breath when the canopy shatters and the atmosphere is sucked out. Once you're done playing you take off the headset and realize that normal life could never be that exciting and that you want one of these portals for your very own plumbing into the depths of the universe.
I still come back to this video sometimes, almost a decade later. Game devs love to talk about emergent cinematic gameplay but this is one of the only times I feel like I've actually seen it happen. (I mean, the music absolutely helps, but even without it this would still be incredible.)
Ok so this was genuinely jaw dropping. When you fly into orbit around the "Icy World" I got genuine chills. Then entering the disc, and then the collision shocked me, then the rush back to safety. Incredible. Safe to say VR is going to change my world at least, and probably the rest of it too.
Awesome little video... Elite will never cease to amaze me. It is the basic little things and details that all of a sudden turn into an epic tale without even realizing it.
Astonishing bit of work ... by yourself (of course!) and Frontier. Edge of the seat stuff approaching the station at the end. Your video shows just what an astounding work of art Frontier has created and what can be done with it by a talented flyer/video maker. Brilliant!!
Looks like he did quite a bit. Just the act of exploring and flying around in a semi-realistic space sim environment with realistic distances is worth the price alone.
They are going to be updating it pretty regularly, from what I'm hearing, correct? Not sure how I feel about this change in business model for game developers but hopefully they follow through on that promise.
Got my canopy blown out by an expert level baddie, and it was pretty close; not as close as this....and I thought when I finally docked....this video didn't disappoint in preparing me for the heart pounding tension I would experience.
This video, more than any other I've seen, has summed up what I want from a space sim. Even if the controls are arcade-y the simple fact that you can end up in a tense situation with damaged systems and leaking oxygen, rather than just simply dying or losing 'armor' or 'health' is a huge plus for me. Also, the Interstellar soundtrack was a great choice.
What an experience! I felt my own oxygen draining away back on earth and could only start breathing again when you entered the station... I almost died man! :D
I have… seen things you people wouldn't believe… Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those… moments… will be lost in time ....
Damn it, this was Glorious, I almost had a Heart attack, Maybe it was the Music, or how you just paired it with what happened, but I was floored, Tremendous video, where are all the videos that show gameplay in this manner, with breathtaking moments like these?
INSTANT SUBSCRIBE!!! I was on the edge of my seat...that was great! BRAVO! Wasn't sure if you were going to make it ... That was an amazing edit. Your shots were great!
Great video, really good music editing. I have been there, but panicked and bounced off the side of the station entrance while my canopy was collapsed. Not my finest hour...
Do yourself a favor if you read this first before watching the video, especially if you haven't seen interstellar yet. Get some headphones, and turn the volume up ~loud~. Like so loud you can't stand it, and maybe a little more. You won't regret the headache after such an ethereal experience.
Hopefully you won't get tinnitus.
I’m good lol
@@majumder456 no, you're not.
Started interstellar last night, watching this today. Weird.
Martz your eye for aesthetics really amazes me sometimes
Hey get back to studying college boy
Seriously, this is trailer quality footage. If I had a decent computer, I'd be all over this game right now.
Deathfyre11 Actually the game is really well optimized and can run on older systems. You should check if your PC meets the minimum. I have a friend with 4 year old laptop that is playing it on medium :D.
MiFOE Sydcrow Oh damn, I was not expecting the requirements to be that low. My laptop could probably handle that pretty easily.
Deathfyre11 I play on my laptop with a 650m, I think I use low setting but the game still looks good
This felt like a short film
It was a short film
A good one
Sir, the possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field is approximately 3,720 to 1.
Here, good sir, have my "Like", you deserve it!
Never tell me the odds!
so you're saying there's a chance?
I like how you can see Martz physically sit back in his chair after he docks
Seriously!?!?
That was the most EPIC demonstration of all Elite can be EVER!! :D
that was TOTALLY WICKED!! :D
P Murphy Do you imagine at least 50% of all gameplay videos were made like this? that would be incredibly awesome
indeed.
bout the only ones that compete are Isinona's. His story ones are great!
+36 likes now?
really? lol
what's sad is I bet half of us don't even really play anymore...
This is still one of the best ED videos out there IMO.
From now on if anyone asks me what Elite: Dangerous is and why I play it, I'll send them this video. This was perfection, sir, excellent job.
this is a fucking story without words holy shit that music made everything feel epic.
Aaaand I keep coming back to this video...
Hah, same here. It's one of those things that you just want to re-watch every not and then~
And again..
I watch it every single year. The music is just insane...
Shahraman and again?
Me too.
This is now my favorite Elite video ever. The great use of the Intersteller scores, the filter used to make the graphics look more realistic, you acting out the head movements, the build up of tension after the crisis, the piloting....this is beautiful. Great job!
It is 2020 and this is my favorite video to show to friends how awesome Elite Dangerous is.
Same today! This video really got me into VR and this game
Next video, parallel parking near a black hole.
By far my favorite cinematic of ED, ever.
I love this because it's got a little narrative to it. Not just scenery. And haha-- landing pad 13.
Heh, thanks for pointing out the significance of the landing pad...I didn't catch that. Indeed that suited the story perfectly. :)
Aweseome!!!!!!! never noticed, to busy balancing on the edge of my flight seat
I don't get the landing pad reference :(
Lucky number 13, unlucky for some
ah, for some reason I thought it was a reference to interstellar somehow.
After watching Interstellar, I searched for a game and came across Elite Dangerous. Instantly fell in love with it and believed it had huge potential. This is the best Elite Dangerous video I have seen. I need this game now
Best video of Elite I have ever seen. I've watched this like 10 times over period of 6 months. Makes me want to buy it.
+YTDekus Buy it now, while it's cheap!
***** yeaa i should :)
2 seconds... don't play with my emotions like that again you fandang

awsoumetank1 what are the specs of your desktop?

Longest breath i've held watching him make it in >.
Fantastic video with great editing. This really does show off the true beauty of Elite, nice job man.

The timing work with the OST music was very well done, Grats on great video.
Makes me want to get a rift too.
This is the reason why I bought Elite Dangerous.
Nice flying, Tex.
Masterpiece.. Can't describe the feeling.
This is beautiful. Not only does the game look phenomenal, this video in itself is an absolute work of art. Honestly took my breath away, nice work.
Jesus Christ. Thanks for making me want to drop hundreds on an Oculus.
this game isnt oculus exclusive. its just fucking cooler with one
I've been wanting to pick up a dk2 for a while now this is really making me want one.
j0ltc0lajunki3 Yeah... I totally bought a DK2 because of this game. It should come this week.
Can confirm; it's reallllllly good. Consumer version will be worth the wait though!
Track IR is a cost effective alternative.
Of course the Interstellar soundtrack in the back. Love it!
This is a masterpiece. Beautifully combining how gorgeous the game is and how incredible the interstellar soundtrack is.
I fucking recognized that Sound Track the moment the video started. God damn it makes this video that much more amazing. It blew my mind when the windshield blew out I was just speechless.
Still the best Elite video i have ever seen. I watch this once every year. The atmosphere and sounds and music is phenomenal

Crap I knew I wrote something wrong here! Hahahahaha, yeah I meant No Man's Sky, sorry 'bout that
+Fernando Langalú The only part of the game that isn't part of the ship is the ESC menu. Pretty awesome.

The most atmospheric ED video I've seen! Thanks :)
amazing dramatic ending
That, was the most amazing thing I have ever witnessed from just gameplay.
The way you made it was just awesome. 10/10
This was one of the most gorgeous and epic things I've watched in a long time. Thank you.
This was great. Really well done. The timing of the music was spot on. I loved how the pace changed after you hit the 'roid. So unexpected. Loved it.
Got my canopy blown out by an expert level baddie, and it was pretty close; not as close as this....and I thought when I finally docked....this video didn't disappoint in preparing me for the heart pounding tension I would experience.
Simply incredible, my good man. When someone asks me why I like, nay, LOVE Elite, I will direct them here.
This video, more than any other I've seen, has summed up what I want from a space sim. If only Frontier Development could market their own game like this. This has so much value and quality it hurts. Bravo.
The placements of the soundtrack, your sound design, was the most entertaining thing.
What an experience! I felt my own oxygen draining away back on earth and could only start breathing again when you entered the station... I almost died man! :D
That has to be the best music synch I've seen, esp. considering the long take! love that you used the beginner scenario.
Absolutely enthralling. I lost this video a while ago and scoured the internet to find it.
Awesome. The Interstellar OST was a big hit, fits perfectly! Well done with effects and timings.
It’s probably been five or so years since I watched this last, it’s still the rollercoaster of emotions I remember.
Fantastic music selection and timing .Really helped to amplify the moments in your video.
Your timing of crucial events to coincide with the changes in the music was brilliant, Kudos Commander. :-)
In December 2023, this is till the best Elite video I've seen personally. Got tears coming from eyes, it's so epic.
I have… seen things you people wouldn't believe… Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those… moments… will be lost in time ....
Not sure this video would of even been worth watching without the epic music. Nicely done with the editing.
Damn it, this was Glorious, I almost had a Heart attack, Maybe it was the Music, or how you just paired it with what happened, but I was floored, Tremendous video, where are all the videos that show gameplay in this manner, with breathtaking moments like these?
Absolutely amazing. Music fits images hand in hand. Imho best elite:dangerous video in youtube.
wow really amazing ! the music make the video more intense :O the moment her ship hurt the asteroid is simply fantastic !
great video from beggining to end, that timing at the starport,i don't know about your breath, took mine away.awsome :)
9 years later, still here cruising through galaxy in vr while pushing these awesome movie's songs into the void. i just can't stop lol
the way you mixed the interstellar music was AMAZING
Really great video! The music from interstellar was perfect. I had a similar close call where I made it into station with 3 seconds of oxygen left.
This was beautifully made with the perfect soundtrack.
No words to express how epic this was
you should upload more videos like this, they're super cool and atmospheric, like little stories within the game =D
Man....that was amazing, real tension, real gameplay. Some fantastic flying at the end too, not sure if I'd have stayed that cool under pressure.
What's amazing is that this was all natural non scripted. He was panicking when he crashed haha
OMG, the music was perfectly synced to what was happening, had me on edge. That was some A++mazing piloting. You are Awesome.
The music is from interstellar which imo is a must watch
HiZzen RekT Yes i've seen the movie. Epic
Perfectly put together, choice of backing music, oh yeah.. and timed. Really very good indeed!!
LOL that was closely awesome! 0:02 left and you made it. Great choice in music good sir!
This is why I love Elite: Dangerous.
Ah, the video that made me buy E:D..
INSTANT SUBSCRIBE!!! I was on the edge of my seat...that was great! BRAVO! Wasn't sure if you were going to make it ... That was an amazing edit. Your shots were great!
6:35, ups
Nano
Hi nano!
Great vid, im loving this game, so many memories of when I was a kid playing Frontier Elite 2 and now i get to do it again looking like this
Oh my god the music choice for this video is perfect!
When you landed, the relief in you was brilliant.
Great video, really good music editing. I have been there, but panicked and bounced off the side of the station entrance while my canopy was collapsed. Not my finest hour...
You Sir are BRILLANT! That was some nice flying on the stick!
