Honestly they should’ve just straight up called it *” Wade & Knuckles”* the “& Knuckles” part granting the writers meme points and not false advertising it as Knuckles’ show where people say he cameos in it.
This is honestly a really good idea, it’s just less people would go in to it knowing there’s less knuckles
They didn't false advertise at all. Of course Knuckles was going to be the face of it, but the trailers made it pretty clear this was an adventure between him and Wade.

Marketing-wise, it definitely would sound weird, but it's way more accurate to the show and would've been a really good reference.

I was excited for the show but it just makes no sense at all. The main villain doesn't even have anything against Knuckles, he just somehow has his quills and wants him dead when he very clearly described Sonic as the reason for his failures
And most importantly what’s wrong with this picture why does that tech in the final fight look so familiar?
Tbh, I think Agent Stone should be the Main Villain of the Knuckles Series, not "The Buyer".
They clearly say these animals shed their quills and get power from it lol. And he doesn't want him dead yet, he wants his power to continue what eggman started.

3 of my kids are 10 and under and they kept asking me “Where is Knuckles?” And they didn’t even stay around for the season finale. This was a missed opportunity.

I only really liked the parts where Knuckles was on screen really and fighting the villain guy. But as for Wade, i would've liked his story if it was interesting. That's the problem. And he's also a comic relief character and comic relief characters tend to not do well when they are given the spotlight

Knuckles's OVA hat is iconic, but it's such a surface-level piece of lore for the show (which I admit I haven't seen yet and honestly don't ever want to see as a Knuckles fan). Where's the obscure lore? Nowhere.

I feel like that was a similar issue for Frontiers as well, with it kinda being one great big Family Guy call back skit, as it repeatedly bludgeons you over the head with references.

At this point I wouldn't even consider whether the show or not is bad on it's own merits. It's moreso the principle of the people who greenlight these shows fundamentally misunderstanding what fans of this property they're adapting actually want from it. They've been doing it for decades!

I watched the Sonic movie to see SONIC. I watched Knuckles to see KNUCKLES. Why is this so hard to understand? But all those movies I listed still did gangbusters so maybe I'm just an idiot who doesn't know how the hollywood money machine works.
The biggest problem is the marketing was a lie. It made it look like the focus was on knuckles when it was on wade
its on both of them. theyre both there basically the entire time. i never got the idea that the show wasnt about the two of them together.
tbh the fandom was expecting too much when they were rumoring nonsense like the chaotix appearing (when they've aready told us for the 100th time they won't appear in the show and probably never in the movie universe in general) and Rouge (...did I really to explain the last one?)

i get what you mean though. No matter what there was gonna be high expectations. I personally actually really enjoyed the show. The villains was kinda meh but it was still quite entertaining seeing the agents and "The buyer" felt even more underwhelming. Also i personally would've wanted to see knuckles more in the show. it did seem like it was going to be like knuckles and wade training and i would've wanted a bit more of that aswell as them having Wade's character as he defeated his father. So it was a pretty decent and short show despite its flaws in my opinion.

There were some neat moments, good action and some jokes that actually landed but as a piece of Sonic media? This fails miserably. Also no Knuck If You Buck or even Unknown from M.E. in the show proper was just shameful.
Knuckles deserves far better than buddy comedy schlock.
Everyone's perception of this show entirely depends on how they feel about wade and him taking over as the main character. If you don't like wade, you're probably not going to like this series.

I liked Wade, so I found his and Knuckles' scenes together pretty fun and charming. They have a shocking good dynamic with each other.

I liked Wade in the movies. I thought he was a good little comedic relief character but this show made me actively dislike him, he just couldn’t work as a protagonist. Keeping him as an occasional gag is what he was designed for and when you take him out of that he just didn’t work very well
Kind of bummed that we’re skipping Chaos entirely. How cool would it be to see this Knuckles, who more than the original holds his clan in a high place of reverence as an honorable warrior clan, be shown the darker side of the Echidnas and set loose a monster bent on revenge for what the Echidnas did, now freed after the Master Emerald shattered in the second movie would be cool. But because Chaos and SA1 aren’t really popular compared to Shadow and SA2, we’re just going to skip that.
This would have been awesome. Expensive....but awesome.
Chaos could always be in SA2 instead of the Biolizard, if they really wanted to go that route.

Between Knuckles Chaotix being clearly unfinished and on the 32X, the Penders-helmed Archie comic series and now this, I'm starting to think any Knuckles-focused media is just cursed
I find wade endearing despite the shows flaws. The show could use more knuckles but its not like he is nowhere in the show at all. If anyone went in expecting a suprise chaotix reveal or like next to no humans I think you should temper your expectations. It advertised a buddy comedy between wade and knuckles and thats what it delivered. As a show in that regard I think its fine enough.
Good news is that since this is a paramount show with a lower budget and next to no effect on characterization. It more than likely wont affect anything about sonic 3.
I still say this show shouldve been 2d animated because then there wouldnt have to be as much focus on wade and knuckles would be less expensive to animate, allowing him more screentime.
i am just disappointed they didn't include greg the second (wade's WACKY cousin). really shows how little this show cares about the fans...

Man, the films quite literally REVIVED the franchise. Frontiers even took inspiration from them. The Knuckles series is only hated by the usual Sonic hatemob who pan everything.

I'm sure this is already one of those were people go "HEEYYYY! I liked this show! It was fun!" But was this the show you really wanted to see though? Was an entire show about a man-child's wacky family issues with a bowling competition you really wanted to see for a Knuckles show or did you just like it because it had Sonic's brand on it? And I went into this with an open mind, I didn't go into this with the expectations of what hardcore fans imagined the show being like, but it has all the tropes of a bad 2000s live action movie based on a cartoon with too much pop culture references, celebrate references, characters talking the same and a severe lack of focus on the title character.

One major thing that caught me off guard when watching this show was the Inclusion of Iblis and the Flames Of Disaster.
That was the first time In official Sonic media we ever heard of Iblis In over 18 years.
That was really the only thing that stuck with me after watching this.
My mother theorizes that some writer or producer or someone used Knuckles as a vessel to express their own issues. Why yet another bowling tournament story with daddy issues and 80s hits she remembers from her 20s?

This was Sonic Forces all over again with false advertising to the max. it wasn’t the Knuckles show, it was the Wade & Knuckles show.
At least Sonic Forces advertised itself as a Sonic Game, with the focus being on actual Sonic characters.

i hate, hate, HATE it when shows/movies do this. since transformers (maybe earlier) they keep putting the titular character as background. as spoony once said; "how hard is it to make the main character, the main character?!" I knew the moment i heard that wade was going to be in it tha it was automaticaly going to be painfully bad. i didn't like any of his scenes in the movies and thought he ruined a pretty nice scene with his 'joke'.
What's scary is that this series is actualy making them money. Who knows what kind of negative effect this'll have on the series as whole long term.

@@RJTMTV They weren't tied, but that's not the point. There were rarely any shows that lasted long, until Sonic X came out. It's still being talked about to this day. Even if it wasn't perfect, atleast it got the characters and the world right. Tying together different games as their own arcs, and deliver some interesting and memorable story elements. It was so much fun watching a show that actualy took inspiration from the games and took the tragedies, sad backgrounds of the characters seriously. A show that does not treat you as if you were an idiot.
Most new comers don't know anything about any of the shows, games, nor any of the additional medium. They just want to see Jim Carrey and kil l some time with their kids. If they're making a Sonic movie and claim that its "for the fans", I want them to make a GOD DAMN MOVIE THAT'S ACTUALY MADE FOR THE FANS!!!! Not some cashgrab trash luring normies that'll abandon the series onece they had their fun with it. I want a show/movie that's ACTUALY targeted at me. As long as that doesn't happen, i'll be here and tell people the honest truth. THIS MOVIES ARE TRASH AND ARE NOT FAITHFUL.

"Actually targeted at me." The issue is that Sonic Team HAVE been trying to please everyone, but fans like you are never happy. You throw tantrums, like you're doing now, when you aren't center of attention and not getting your way.
You want the edginess, "tragedies," and out of place stories that almost killed the franchise and turned it into a laughingstock for two decades.

@@lazyasfdrawings I'm in the process of editing down all 3 seasons into 12 episodes, each episode lasting 22-25 minutes. With all the flashbacks and brain dead writing, I'm confident it can be done without losing any context. That show sucked. At least the Knuckles Show got to the point, had a bit of fun with the writing, and lasted 6 episodes(23-25 minute long episodes btw).

Bruh, the Wade scenes was basically the wedding scene from Sonic 2, but worse. This is the problem. We don't need to waste time on the human characters as they don't really add anything to the story we are actually interested in seeing... y'know, the Sonic Adventures where it's him and his friends in their world. The studios need to learn that we only came to see those type of adventures rather than a cringe comedy fest.
I really hate that these Sonic adaptations just can't let the Sonic characters stand out on their own. They always need to bounce off of someone else or partner up with them, instead of just letting the Knuckles show or Sonic movies be, well... The KNUCKLES show or SONIC movies. Wade is such a nothing character and I didn't care for the cop either(don't remember his name).

They take the dumb and annoying characters and give them the main focus which ends up not working, and not to mention his arc is a little similar to Po's arc from Kung Fu Panda 1 of a guy who's looked at as a joke wanting to become respected by everyone, but here's the thing...Po's story was ACTUALLY interesting.

While there were a few elements that I liked, it was very obvious while watching that this was done by a different writing team than the movies
I’ve seen people compare this to the wedding scene from the second movie, but at least that sequence heavily involved the movies’ take on G.U.N (plus it was honestly funnier than the human shenanigans in this show, and it was mainly to break up the main action between the snowboard sequence and the Labyrinth Zone fight just a little bit for pacing reasons)
I thought it was pretty bad but whenever the camera was on Knuckles it was awesome.

This show was genuinely one of the most boring experiences I've had in a long time. The biggest issue I have is that I feel like this show has no idea who it's supposed to be for.
Gonna have to disagree. I love this series. I kind like that they focused on Wade, he's one of my favorite side characters and I like that they fleshed him out. The animation's as good as the movies, idris Elba's Knuckles is always a win, and his and Wade's dynamic is hilarious. People just need to stop judging stuff based on what they were expecting rather than what they got, because what we got, is a pretty good time.

It felt like borderline false advertisement. Sure, we knew Wade was gonna be in it, but we didn’t know that Knuckles was gonna be treated as a side character. Heck, in most of the advertisements I saw of it, Wade and his family was nowhere to be found, while Knuckles was portrayed to be the character that is front and center.
This show started out strong, but once I learned that this show wasn’t about Knuckles, it went all downhill from here. What a waste of peoples time while they’re waiting for Sonic 3.

The final battle of this show was just a alternate version of the final battle in the first movie.
Show: The show has Knuckles knocked out while Wade gives an emotional speech about how Knuckles is his friend and that gives him the power to wake up, take back his power and just full on demolish the Buyer.
Sonic Movie 1: Robotnik had wounded Sonic badly and Tom fights Robotnik and then goes on to deliver a speech about how Sonic's home was Green Hills and that gives Sonic the power to wake up, take back his power and just full on demolish Robotnik before exiling him to the Mushroom Planet.
I hope at least they use this show as set up an adventure where knuckles relizes the truth behind Pachacamac's lies and Pachacamac is reveal to be the cold hearted, power hungry warlord we know him as.
Okay that would be *great.* We fans all know how much of a ruthless, heartless, power-hungry sonuvabitch he really is.

Who the hell let Wade hijack the whole damn show. This was pain and cringe, oh my god! I just wanted to shut off the TV as fast as possible!
this show is pure agony coming from a major sonic d rider. i will defend 06 with my life but this show makes me feel incredibly suicidal. i am a firm believer that punishment can never be taken too far depending on the crime, with a child molester there is no limit to punishment. i believe the death sentence is too lenient and think people are bullshitting when they say "i wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy" but i truly do not wish this show on my worst enemy. there is NO demographic for this.
First off, 06 almost killed the franchise. Secondly, the films revived it.
06 was unfitting. That wasn't the same Sonic that people grew up with. It was absurd and out of place. The films on the other hand were made for a new audience, and that audience is the reason why Frontiers sold as well as it did. New fans are important. Let things be what they are rather than throwing tantrums because it isn't what you want.
@@RJTMTV okay, i am very much aware of all of this. this was more of a joke comment than a real response. i have nothing against the movies, they were a bit goofier and i actually grew up on 06 - probably explaining some bias towards it. 06 was out of place, sure, but the problems people have with the game is mostly for the bugs and part of the story and gameplay. the story itself was fine, minus some of the weird parts. it was revolutionary as a game that actually showed sonic getting killed. 06's story was fine. i love frontiers and i like their newer stuff as well.
like i said i'm a major sonic d rider, i absolutely love everything they do. including sonic schoolhouse and aosth. i also like the newer stuff. i just don't like the knuckles series. new fans don't even like the show either, not sure why you'd bring that point up but alright.
@arkhamshit 06 almost destroyed the franchise. The tone was different. The characters were different. The franchise that people grew up with had changed to the point of absurdity. It was no longer about rescuing animals and beating Eggman, it was about primordial monsters, gods, death, and other high fantasy nonsense that the series was never about.
Matter of fact, the majority of toxicity in the Sonic fanbase comes from the mid-00s crowd who want the series to be dark and edgy. Completely oblivious to the fact that the dark and edgy stuff was panned and mocked and almost killed the franchise.

@@RJTMTV you're not sega are you? the franchise has come a far way, and even with the transition it was pretty rough. if you want to talk about games that killed the point - talk about shadow's game in 05. his character was definitely not one that i would consider to be the same in sa2 to shadow 05. there has always been monsters in the franchise, i'm pretty sure iblis's design or idea was taken from chaos (sa2) or metal overlord (sonic heroes). death has always been a thing, the MAIN first death probably being maria. sonic adventure was dark and gritty as well. this is why there's titles for these eras.
the classic games are the classic era. the next would be the dreamcast era. we're in the modern era.
there is not a lot wrong with 06's story. it's mainly the timing, bugs, gameplay, loading screens, parts of the stories (mainly elise), and how rushed the game was and the unprepared team. project 06 is more beloved than the original and what people usually flock to, that being said, it doesn't take away from the story. only changing gameplay mechanics and a bit of tweaking.

I swear if this show is anything to go by, they better not have such a focus on human characters in Sonic 3 unless it's about Maria and Gerald Robotnik. I dont want another repeat of that whole wedding segement from Sonic 2 either.

I was also disappointed with the show, for a show called “knuckles” you expect it to be abt him but it’s not and you can clearly tell in episode 4 they were running low on budget, I don’t hate wade but I wanna see knuckles not a tv show abt some idiot. Personally I loved the show. I can look at its faults, like knuckles not even being fully in its own show, or how the plot is generic. But I feel like Wade and knuckles’ dynamic was entertaining and how the show was an entertaining fever dream. Also knuckles looks as good as movies.
So, it’s essentially that scorned bride scene in Sonic 2 where it briefly derails from the main characters and feels like a different movie. Except that it's elongated from a few minutes to over an hour (if not more). And not as funny (at least the scene I mentioned was amusing on its own).
I just hope that Sonic 3 won't share the same quality as this product...

The first two episodes were good and my fav but the rest was crap. There are two reasons that makes this series suck a bit more, one is the title, they know that wade is basically the main character so why would they name it knuckles? At least name it Knuckles & Wade series or something but just knuckles is so false. Second reason is wade's family, i wouldn't have mind if he just stop by to say "hi' or something and left but after episode 3 they are suddenly apart of the rest of the series and that throws me off, it would've been so much better if the father , mother and b*tch sister was not an add on to the rest of the story, cause now its not even the Knuckles & Wade series its Knuckles & Family series. I just really hate how they also focused more on the family than knuckles. Tho i am glad that knuckles looks a lot happier cause he has been though tough sh*t for decades and he needs a hug. I am only simping for knuckles the rest of the cast i could care less about. Bye.

They could've have Knuckles fight against Rouge for possession of the Master Emerald.
They could've have Knuckles take on rogue GUN agents with help from the Chaotix.
They could've have Knuckles come face to face with the dark side of his tribe with Chaos.
But no. They had Knuckles help some schmuck win a bowling tourament.

Its probably because I had 0 expectations, but I honestly didn't think it was that bad. Mainly two because I already have the pieces of Sonic media I like and can go back to so I don't need this Knuckles show to be the greatest piece of fiction of all time.
What I have personally learned about Sonic media is really just don't go in expecting the greatest thing ever. The old memories and enjoyment of enjoying the older media will never come back with the new stuff. Not even trying to be cynical or anything but I think its just kind of the truth. I mean I will admit I was hoping for a lot of stuff in the Knuckles show but also at the same time its the Sonic Movie universe, its for the casuals and not the fans. Not sayin the fans can't enjoy them but like its not going to be what we all want it to be, and thats personally something I'm content with.
imagine calling it the knuckles show when knuckles isn't even the main focus for like most of the episodes
Knuckles is the focus for the first three episodes, Wade rescues Knuckle in the second but they're only able to escape because of Knuckles and his abilities. Knuckles straight up saves Wade and his entire family from mercenaries in the third episode. I'd argue the last 3 episodes pivot to having Wade as a central focus. It's very much a buddy cop movie with both getting a great amount of focus.
Even in the fourth episode which is Wade focused, when Wade is kidnapped there's an entire spiritual sequence in which he has to find his true warrior by reenacting Knuckles origins and essentially becoming Knuckles in this warrior forged play.
So even in the episode without Knuckles...you're still getting Knuckles.
Is Wade the narrative focus, yes, but it's not like they withheld these details. When the show got announced they said Wade was gonna be a protégé of Knuckles and a major focus from the get go.

This definitely felt like the "Wade Show Featuring Knuckles." And all that promotion and advertising made us assume it would focus more on "Knuckles."

My only two problems were Wade is already the loser character who has a great arc but since they had to make his sister more unlikeable than him they went the extra two miles for her. Also the flames of disaster are not knuckles powers or source. So weird for them to pick that
Here's what I would do if I was in charge of the show while still remaining low budget. If they absolutely needed to have Wade in it, then fine but I would try to mostly have him in the background as a more grounded comic relief character.
The first episode would be slightly tweaked, but instead of Knuckles getting grounded, and all that, the episode would be about Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, discussing on where they should place the master emerald. Knuckles would then say "no need to worry my friends i have the perfect place" then it would pan to a shot of angel island. And have Knuckles explain that he must reach the emerald altar on his own.
Wade would tag along.
(I can't think of a reason so just go with it)
And the rest of the show would be about them exploring angel island. WITH THE MUSIC FROM THE GAMES IN IT! And they could have Knuckles just breezing through angel island, going through all the zones like hydrocity, ice cap, and mushroom hill zone. And if you want to cut down on the budget, then you can show Wade just struggling to get through the first part of angel island zone, and since it's just a forest, than it won't cost that much. Plus you can have him as the straight man commenting on all the wacky things he sees, like springs, spikes, and loop de loops.
The villain would still be the buyer, but he would be sending some of eggmans robots to stop Knuckles. That would gradually get tougher and tougher, until he sends metal Knuckles to fight knuckles, in the series finale!
If you ask me, they shouldve just made this into a 1 hour special if they're too cheap to have Knuckles as a main character

Could’ve been a lot better but it was fun, funny and had a really awesome moment in the last episode, overall my family and I enjoyed and liked it, though I can imagine it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea
I actually thought it was pretty good. My only real gripe was that The Buyer's mech at the end came out of nowhere and was only around for about five minutes before being destroyed.

"shameful disgrace" is a bridge too far. Heres why i take issue with this.
People like to base this argument that the show has objective faults bc its titled knuckles and he doesnt get much screen time. But thats a flimsy argument. Honestly knuckles is a mcguffin himself not unlike the dragonballs. How much screen time do dragonballs get in that show? But the show is about dragonballs when you really look at the cause and effect surrounding the main events... The show never promised to be full of critical character building moments for knuckles. Its optional side content to appreciate the character WITHOUT ruining his development. Not unlike a sitcom, it needs to end with us resuming the status quo. So nothing "important" can happen.
So those of us that like this show seem to share the opinion that it was fun and light. They seemed to take EXTRA care not to contradict or damage the established character of Knuckles, the warrior fish out of water.
I appreciated the scene with hus father dying being made a joke with wade and a muppet. Do i like Wade? No. But by handling it this way we could get that backstory without feeling like this is the definitive story. If youve missed the movies and watched this, youd realize that youre still missing something, and THAT IS GREAT.
This show knows what it is. Nonessential low risk whimsical side content. A little dessert.

Agreed. I agree with J on the false advertising of it being a Knuckles centric show. However, it's been a long time since I've seen a character (Wade) actually become fleshed out. He has an arc. It it cheesy and does it use some rather unorthodox ways (I didn't care for the dance number) to produce growth? Sure. But it's not terrible.
