As a licensed cosmetologist I can tell you for a FACT I have looked through about a dozen different monat hair and beauty products. And to start off their ingredients range from kinda dangerous (hair loss can be very likely and scalp irritation and etc) to just not healthy for skin/hair (blocking pores, ingredients that coat the hair that lead to build up, etc). Not to mention i didn't find one thing that justified the "luxury" tag they put on themselves. In fact as a stylist I'd prefer you'd use drug store shampoo or skin care, over monat.
@@HannahAlonzo you're welcome! Trust me anyone's stylist would rather you use a regular drugstore brand than pay a chunk of $$$$ for low quality product that can damage your hair, cause buildup, etc.
Thanks for your honesty! I have only looked into this brand today and was shocked by the price despite using expensive hair care products. I thought for that money it’s better be freaking amazing and here I am watching horror movies about their products. Glad I did some research before purchasing!
Many of there products actually have. A great ranking on Yuka which shows you all the ingredients in the products, I am an esthetician and I see people using way more expensive products sold at Sephora that have shitty raking on yuka. If someone wants to sell monat who cares. You don’t need to buy it nor use it. I don’t understand why people hate MLMs they know from the get go whats expected to be successful and not everyone is going to be successful. We are all adults and made those decisions on our own.
Seeing all the “I almost joined” comments blows my mind, I’m so glad people are finding this before joining! These MLMs really know how to lie and trick people, it’s so gross how good they are at being predatory. 😢 I truly thought that it was common knowledge how bad MLMs are, but clearly that’s not the case! You’re doing the lorts work girl 😂❤
Ugh, yes, in the comment section of another HA video where she’s talking about mascara I learned that Dior mascara is 28$ in the US, meanwhile here it’s 40$! 😭💸
@ms.annthropic6341 We actually pay the exact same price you do, it's just looks like less. You have to take into account that ONE Canadian dollar is NOT equal to ONE US Dollar. $1 CAD = $0.72354 USD $40 CAD × $0.72354 = $28.9416 United States Dollars If you came to the US on vacation and bought it, you'd spend the same amount.
I appreciate this video so much! I just witnessed a Monat “boss babe” use her platform to confront the lawsuits red flag - she said “I dare you to google any brand you have in your home - cleaning brand, hair care, skin care, any brand - you will find lawsuits. Because that’s what happens when you’re successful.” Which was absolutely hilarious to me... so out of curiosity I googled my favorite hair care (Kevin Murphy) and what do you know.... NO LAWSUITS. Thank you for spreading awareness about this bullshit company.
I have been meaning to try KM for a couple of years. The best hair salon in town uses that brand. There are a gazillion of hair salons in my town, so that says it all. Definitely will be spending my money on that brand than on this stupid scam scheme.
@@katalinmcewan KM products are worth every penny! My hair was damaged from over-processing and after just a few months of using his products, my stylist was literally amazed by how quickly my hair grew and healed. Olaplex is also worth the splurge if you’re interested :)
There was and is a lawsuit against Kevin Murphy which I found from Google so your comment is just as hilarious as that video you claim to be going round which is actually true 😂
Thanks for video ...I watched with my wife she is monat partner...monat damaged her financially and damaged our relationship as well ..I hope I am on good way to show her the truth about them ..
I just watched MLM Top Fails #72 & I just needed me some more Hannah after last week’s break. This was an excellent video, lots of great info told expressively yet educationally, as only Hannah can do! As a rational, thinking human, I just don’t understand how anyone can buy these overpriced, sketchy products, much less shill the products. You go, girl!
I would also like to state I am so jealous of how well constructed this video was! Not many people are great speakers (myself included) but you have an amazing grasp at it!
Monat literally made my hair fall out. I bought it to support a casual friend. I was told my scalp was "detoxing". Which was a huge red flag because I was using either Pureology or Aveda products on my hair for years (I would switch back and forth depending where I could get a better deal) before giving it a go. Interestingly, when I stopped using her products, this friend, who was a hairstylist, suddenly didn't feel a need to reach out...🙄. To be fair, Monat is not the only shampoo that has caused hairloss for me. I've also had similar issues with very cheap grocery store shampoos in the past.
I recently joined, then backed out because my “mentor” was making me lie to people. I haven’t even received the pack of products yet, and she told me to copy and paste a text that said “I’ve been using new products, and I think you’d love them.” The “mentor” was WELL AWARE that I hadn’t started using the products yet, and still told me to follow the “guide” to reach out to people. I felt like a fraud after. My mom also told me about the lawsuit, which I was completely unaware about until after joining. I’m now anti-MLM 😝
it is sad that a company like this hasnt been boycotted in 2021, my blood boils every time I see someone I follow on Instagram getting involved or "becoming a business owner". This MLM is the worst of all of them because so many young women who have yet to build a legitimate career for themselves are targeted by this false reality of "financial freedom" and set up for failure and potential long-term debt. :(
I’m so glad I decided to look up Monat reviews before I decided to join. The videos of these ladies make it look so glorious. Ive always wanted to be apart of something. But this one is a pass for me. Thank you for doing the research for us.
That's usually what MLMs prey upon, that feeling of wanting to belong. If you're promised your own business with just a few dollars, the opportunity to create your own network *and* to make "some extra cash", run for the hills. If you watch Vice's piece of Lularoe, you'll see there's a segment where one of the former consultants in the MLM said that once she announced her departure, she lost ALL the friends she had made.
Now you can be a part of us, the Anti-MLM movement! ❤ No joining fee ❤ No PV requierements ❤ No selling ❤ Recommending Hannah's videos to others is encouraged but not necessary ❤ Average and median salaries more than of those in anti-MLM
If anyone has to watch past the point of “94.03% didn’t make it past the ground level rank...” which is a mere $183/year then there’s literally nothing that will convince them that Monat isn’t a good idea.
New subscriber here, recently discovered your channel through your newer vids popping up, now it's showing me some older content. Speaking as a viewer who has seen a more developed, polished version of these videos future you made. Seeing the part about the Canadian dollars and your clear communication and corrections. I know at the time you might have felt like you'd made a huge mistake, but it gives me greater confidence in your polished, later game self. It shows how you've been building integrity into your channel from the ground up, gives me a lot of respect for you.
i used monat for only about 6 weeks and within that time i was experiencing the worst hair loss i've ever had and now 8 months later my hair is just getting a little bit healthier. i also used their skin care line during the same period and experienced red, blotchy rashes and acne that was worse than when I was a teenager
What a breakdown! Thanks for taking the time to educate people of the dangers of this companies. I like how easy and explained this video is, specially is touching the important aspects on point! Thanks again for being a part of educating people about MLM!
A girl I know joined Monat she's so strapped for cash and I understand why she would want to do this but I'm very anti-mlm and I cannot believe how they targeted her when she's in such a vulnerable state. I don't want to say anything because I don't know her like that but it's just sad how she thinks joining Monat will actually help her
Thank you so much for making this video. I was in a similar situation to yours last year, luckily I came across another video about anti-mlm minutes after joining one and it opened my eyes to so many things. I was able to back out because I was only on the "team" for 1 day lmao. This needs to be talked about more because so many people are losing money and not researching the extent of these social media jobs. Not saying all social media jobs are bad, but doing your research is huge!
I stopped going to a hair dressed that I had gone to for 10 years. She started selling this crap. My entire time in her chair was a monate pitched. She even had her husband try to talk to me about “joining”.
I was a market partner back in 2020. Even ranked the first level. I quit shortly after ME AND MY DAUGHTER BOTH lost a bunch of hair… talking like in the movie the craft? I would wash or brush and chunks came off. I brought it up to my uplines and they said it was completely normal and I was going to throw out the old grow in the new? When I persisted to quit a few weeks after. They stopped talking to me and I even got blocked! Friendship my ass 😢
i’m writing a speech rn on why mlms are so predatory and i’m using monat as my main example bc of this video. so well done! thank you so much for posting. absolutely amazing
The rejuvenique oil really gets me lol. I’m a Sephora girl and I’ve seen really amazing hair oils available for less than $30. And for at least 3 times the amount at that.
I'm Canadian and watch your videos from a city just outside of Toronto, cause livin' in the big city is way to expensive! The prices of the Monet products here are JAW DROPPING. I use good quality shampoo and pay about $8.00 for a 350mL bottle. 250mLs equals 8oz for you guys down south. The ingredients are clearly listed and after some quick investigation are all safe and have been approved by Health and Agriculture Canada🇨🇦. I'm an older gal, 58, and have seen my share of friends go down with the ship with MLMs. Breaks my heart. A few have spent thousands and ended up deeply in debt. Keep doing what you do. You may not reach everyone, but you will help some♥️
As an esthetician, I would never put canola oil on my skin or in my body! Seriously, don't even cook with it. It's terrible for you inside and out, and even if you only consume it, it can definitely have a negatives impact on your skin. Jojoba, avocado, very good quality pure olive, sweet almond, and a handful of others are the only types of oil I would put on my skin or in my body.
There was this really lovely girl that kept trying to not only sell me Monat products but also wanted me to join it and sell it. Any time there was a sale she sent me voice messages saying “I want you to love your hair. I want it to grow long and shiny” well, guess what: I love my hair. And the reason why it’s not long anymore is because I got tired of long. She was a really nice girl and I’m a people pleaser so I had a hard time saying no, and kept coming up with excuses, until one day I finally said “look, I’m sorry it’s not gonna happen” and out of nowhere she was not nice anymore and it bothers me so much when people put on an act. I had no idea what Monat was, and never thought much of pyramid schemes, but I just wasn’t interested.
Same thing happened with me girl fromUSA SHE TOLD SAME things to me was very nice trying to sell me monat products n pushing me to join but luckily that’s god I came across to this video 😅
FYI flight attendant training is not paid. But it is taught by professionals. I definitely had hair loss and facial issues with Monat. I’m so glad you’re putting these videos out there. ❤
Subscribed!! I’m a big supporter of anti MLM 😌 I just wish people would do research before getting sucked into these 😕 like it honestly makes me sad seeing people I know starting their “business” only to find out it’s an mlm.
Thank you, i live in Miami and was about to join this weekend.. but when i started searching up the product on my own I’m like ummm .. where’s the vegan stuff they mentioned.
I just quit being a market partner and I WISH I saw this video before I ever decided to join! I would also like to add that I believe I remember reading that the products are not FDA approved. But I believe that’s for their “wellness” line
@@HannahAlonzo not been approved by FDA doesn’t mean it’s not good, many other natural products from other companies aren’t also FDA approve and they are really good products
@@familyjaime7989I’m still researching their ingredients. Usually MLM products are really overpriced to account for the commissions paid to consultants.
I wish I had seen this video before buying the skincare! I’ve already broken out so bad and I am SO GLAD I did not buy any hair products. Btw your hair is gorgeous!!
I love videos like this exposing what is a blatant MLM with plenty of screenshots and research etc. and there’s always people commenting trying to save it like “you haven’t done your proper research! I’ve used the products and they’re great! This isn’t true I’ve had brilliant success with this company!” Like 😂 do they not realise how obvious they make themselves look as clearly part of the cult?
Great video. I remember many 'ambush' opportunities in my younger years, the math never seemed to make sense. Points vs true information is how weight watchers keeps people from learning what they need, common ploy to keep you paying them. Lately I have learned to take better care of my curly girl hair and then found a company named Lucky Heart. I found them on a visit to Memphis TN and they looked at my hair and encouraged less products not more. This one on one family sort of experience with people who have been doing this for generations gets you a good hair product. MLMs do not care about any of this.
I'm actually really glad you have the Canadian prices by mistake, because I am Canadian and can hear and compare to similar products I buy here. An 8oz bottle of shampoo here would typically be somewhere around $8-$10 roughly, though our typical shampoo bottles are actually more like 14 oz for $15.
And MPs are also telling customers that all of their products are completely pregnancy safe. Please might you be able to do a video on what you find about whether the products are pregnancy and breastfeeding safe?
As a Canadian, I kinda love that you accidentally found the CAD$ prices. Because they are OUTRAGEOUS! I buy Redken All Soft and still only spend $40 CAD on a litre bottle.
DUDE YES! this was such a phenomenal video and was like everything i needed, brilliantly articulated, straight to the point. you did a fantastic job with this one and just gained a new sub! stoked i came across your channel.
Thanks for this! It's been great to see this gaining traction. I posted a review on monat, whom I was a "business partner" of, just recently received a little back and forth on fb and Instagram about how my claims aren't all true. What I gave stated is what I found to be true, I.e. the financials, how many people actually make money etc. Anything else I say was my my experience. Look forward to more videos! I'm on the fence about whether to chat to some friends who are involved in similar schemes.
Thank you for watching and for sharing your experience! I agree that it’s good to see the truth about MLM companies coming to light more often these days.
@@HannahAlonzo So many things I hate about these companies. I think the biggest is the toxicity that's aligned with bad advice. Some examples include; hey it's worth your last savings to start a business, we will expose your vulnerability. Please don't research or Google us, they're all lies. Anyone who fails in MLM didn't want it enough, are too lazy, didn't post enough.
You have gained a subscriber! Love when people explain it so perfectly and clearly that is easy to follow along and aren’t everywhere! 😊 thank you so much
& I would never subscribe after watching this video. It is full of inaccurate statements & false comments. And you over shadowed a lot of things with your own opinion swaying your viewers or trying to in the direction you believe when accurate and honest reporting is done unbiased leaving it for the viewers to take accurate and honest info to decide for themselves. You are just bashing in this video and trying to convince you very uninformed opinion. Anyone who knows business and mlm and direct sales knows this video is a joke.
I’m not sure how me reading excerpts DIRECTLY from Monat-produced documents is “inaccurate statements and false comments”. But I do appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment! ❤️
She came across as informative but when you know the facts you see how INACCURATE this info actually is! Even about the car thing, by Her Own Math you are actually getting an almost $40k car for only $12k! Hell Yea! That’s a perk! You can’t compare a job interview with running a business but how many jobs offer to pay any portion of a brand new car? And you replace it every two years brand new! You pick your car! The white is for unity. :Something too many don’t practice these days bcz they get off on bashing others and sarcasm. Also the percentages of success aren’t job pay it is running a business and not everyone wants to run a business they just want a larger discount and some don’t want to run a million dollar business bcz you have to work on a million dollar mindset for that! It’s a business but one very real way to get out of the 9-5 rut. The author of this video says she just asked one person in the company. I say she interview some actual millionaires in this company and post that! Also, she says dog shampoo is weird?? 👀Uhm... 🤦🏼♀️ there’s so much here that is innacurate and twisted and much of it is overshadowed by her opinion. There are plenty of research on these products and obvious by looking at ingredients they are not only plant based but many are vegan so her research clearly was poorly done. the meat & cheese on her plate is all natural and she could learn
@@tlb15 at the end of the day you’re still in a pyramid 🤷🏼♀️ that’s the bottom line of it. You can write as much as you want.... and try to justify it all.... but it’s still a pyramid scheme.
Jenna, according to the Federal Trade Commission, 99.6% of people who join multi-level marketing will lose money. Please don’t victim-blame people for being “lazy” in a business model that is designed for only the top 1% to make money off the efforts of the bottom 99%.
I don’t understand how they get the cars. There are 3 factors that go into car buying. 1. Income 2. Credit Score 3. Loan to Value (LTV) 1.Judging by the stats that you pulled a person selling this on their own is not going to bring the income to get approved on this vehicle in the first place so their SO basically needs to be on this car note as well. 2.Probably bad for me to say, but I would think that if you are selling this, you may not have the best finance record, which could mean that your credit isn’t in the 700s, so you’re getting a higher interest rate. Higher rate, higher payment. 3.Cadillacs are expensive, now any given time you can get 10k off a new one but still. They aren’t worth what they are sold for and tank in value. So LTV is usually above 100% which gives you a higher rate. $1500 does not cover sales tax on a purchase that big unless you’ve traded in a vehicle with it. Just seems like you have to go into this with your spouse, and that financial strain when things aren’t going perfect, could be a huge negative on the relationship. Just drive your own car.
@@HannahAlonzo I just feel like the people flashing their cars, probably have a SO that’s doing well income wise. But their pictures are of course making it seem like it’s all their own sales. Seems very dishonest to get more people to buy in. But who knows I could be wrong. But judging by those stats again, I don’t think i am
I can't find it, but Chelsea did a reaction video to, I believe a Monat rep, posting an IG story with her family at the dealer... Ostensibly to pick up her "fully paid for Cadillac", only to NOT get approved for a loan! Rather than delete the story or not post any follow up, she tried to save face and spin it like this was on purpose, and she was ok with it?? 😂 Bizarre.
Wow I never knew, but always honestly wondered how the $$ worked. It's completely ridiculous how you have to spend $$ to be able to get your own commissions...this was an awesome breakdown and you thoroughly explained everything perfectly! Thanks for this one :)
You do know it’s law to pay at least $99 to start up any network marketing business right? Monat has the best comp plan, we literally get paid 10 different ways. $199 to start your own business is nothing. Plus that gets you a bunch of products. You can’t sell something you know nothing about.
@@Thestrawhatsocietyyou don't get paid 10 different ways. You get paid by selling and by recruiting. Also I've met more reps than I can count who know NOTHING about what they are selling even though they paid money to be in this shampoo pyramid scheme. When confronted with facts they come back with lies or when asked questions about the product/the company, they have NO clue what they are talking about! 1 rep told me that the shampoo was made of only 1 ingredient and when I sent her the ingredient list she said "that's just the breakdown of the ingredient I mentioned." Wth
my friend just joined and tried to recruit me. It’s so strange because his personality has changed completely and it is kinda eerie now. He tried to sell me a dream. They pay for a car and vacations. You don’t have to work for a boss. Make your money just in your phone. All that good stuff people wanna hear. But he never talked about the product. I don’t wanna work for a company that I have no clue what the product is. And yes you’re working for a company, this is not your business. I turned it down and he kept asking “why” “you don’t know until you try” “so much negativity coming from you”. I feel like MLM’s prey on people’s lack of confidence and manipulates. But hey, just my opinion 🤷🏽♂️
I think you are probably right on the money in guessing that a lot of MLM people don't use their products long enough/for three months to see if it helps them. I joined plexus to get a discount on the product and never got the starter pack because I really just wanted to see if the product would help with my some of my health conditions. After 2 months nothing had changed and at the 3 month mark I started to get sick every time I drank the pink drink or the workout drinks. I stopped ordering and cancelled everything and after being super friendly and helpful for so long, my "sponsor" or as you call it upline, just disappeared.
They have training in the back office about the products and stuff but the majority of the time, product training came from the upline. Especially if the product doesn’t work for a customer and the upline tells you what else to recommend them. I used to do Monat unfortunately.
I would love love love to see an updated version of a deep dive into Monat especially because they've branched out into wellness products etc. I have a friend who has been wooed by Monat and she always claims everything is vegan!
Also, love your videos, I think the manner you tell the horror stories, fails and deep dives is just informative, clear, and quite relaxing to watch. Especially when Zeke (I hope I spelled it correctly) makes an appearance :)
Ty so much darling for this video I spend a lot of money that I didn't have to purchase this products I'm been using they skin care like for months and also purchased their hair products. Wow I'm feeling so sad about it Anyway all the best and ty for sharing u notes that took u probably a lot of u time to finally share generously with us this IMPORTANT information. Anyway the best in life and all the blessings for u family and friends
I did a Monat call to become a seller today. I only did it because I was dying to see what they had to say! 😂 Girl!! You are so spot on with your whole video, every question I had was not answered AT ALL! They were so pushy to get me to purchase a $850.00 starter package so I could be a “business owner” and “help others with the best products ever” ☠️
I would love to see a deep dive on Mary Kay. Specifically about the pink Cadillac. I was told by a rep that she just drives into a dealership, picks her car and drives off and don't have to pay. Hmmm
I have a question - on the compensation plan, when they say "income" do they actually mean "revenue" (i.e. money in not minus any costs etc) ? Because those two things are Very different. Revenue isn't profit isn't income. For example if you received revenue of $40000, but had costs of $35000 ...your actual profit would only be $5000 in the end.
It is the same for all MLMs. The "income" they report does not take any associated business costs into account. This includes any money you pay to the company for annual fees, website fees, free sample items you buy to give out to customers, items you buy for yourself, rank buying so that you can get your bonus for a given month if you were short on sales, etc. This also doesn't include any outside business related fees you may encounter such as buying a table at a craft show... So exactly as you described, which is exactly where the US FTC report gets their stats that 99.6% of all MLM participants lose money. All of the business expenses make the "business opportunity" even worse in reality than the income disclosure shows.
You know, whenever I feel that old nagging guilt about having taken out student loans without fully knowing what I was getting myself into, I’ll just remember at least I’m not depending on an MLM for my car payments, and I’ll feel better.
Sorry if this comes across as apathetic - im autistic - but why cant you just send it to her?if she reacts super horribly and mean then not very good friend anyway. Should be able to tolerate criticism and debate, and this antimlm UA-camr is definitely the kindest most tactful I've seen
I've watched this video twice, two different days while bingeing. Both times, I was wearing headphones, and both times the little *ding* that played when you circled the car scared the CRAP outta me. 😂 But anyway, love your videos!
Thank you for this video. I recently commented on a Monat hun's insta post warning others about the MLM and her reply was "actually, you should probably properly educate yourself on the difference between direct sales and a pyramid scheme... you sound silly. So I'm just going to leave your comment here. Pyramid schemes are illegal and rarely produce a product or a service. Direct sales cut out the middle man and pay a higher commission to the sales person." ... I replied with basically an overview of the first 2 parts of your video (no plagiarism, just stating facts), including the numbers and sources. I know it was probably a waste of my time but if that deters at least one person from joining this mess, it was worth it. As a bonus, I got to practise my logical arguing skills. :D
10:17 Market partners end up with thousands of dollars of shampoo in their garage buying enough to stay active or maintain rank. The term for this is "garage qualified."
They're going to end up with a liability lawsuit when someone assumes their use of Monat will turn them into the human torch and make them fireproof, and that's going to be an issue.
I have very sensitive skin and scalp, gets very dry especially in the winter. My hair is also very thick and curly, and I have been a target for these huns for a few years now. But when I use to tell them not only to do I have to be careful because of my sensitive skin, I also can use specific products due to allergies, they completely dismissed me saying I could still use it even though their products clearly have ingredients I’m allergic to! Like WTF, no you don’t bypass that crap, allergies are serious and not to ignore. Now I just tell them a straight no and I’m allergic and even resort to blocking them.
"Naturally based" is literally meaningless in this context. Even the most synthetic and toxic chemicals started life as naturally occurring substances. Not to mention 100% naturally occurring highly toxic substances.
When you showed the marshmallow “experiment,” all I could think of was Dale and Brennan: “last week we put liquid paper on a bee…and it died.” ✨PRESTIGE WORLDWIDEwidewide✨
I’m 47 years old and let’s just say I’ve seen some shit in my life. However, I’ve never seen any shit like this. Story time: A good friend of mine is a Monat partner, whatever the fuck that means, excuse my French. I asked about a shampoo I saw her and a bunch of other friends using. I said I wanted to buy it. She gave me this whole cockamamie speech talking about “if you but this, you get this,” and so on and so forth. Before I knew it, my fiancé was like “Babe, did you order $160 worth of product?” Now, I’m not saying it’s her fault. I never asked how much everything was. I knew I was ordering a few things. I never dreamed it would be 160 bucks though. In my defense, I ordered a shampoo, a conditioner, and a detangler. That hardly seems worthy of 150+ dollars but whatever. I’ll never order again though. The first real inclination I had about all these MLMs being bullshit was after reading some of my friends posts. These people can’t even put a whole sentence together and now they’re sharing personal stories about these products complete with correct grammar? 😂😂 I’m glad my friend got the money but I’ll never order again. I’m just glad my hair hasn’t fallen out.
In addition to what you are personally responsible for if you are in the Cadillac motor club is the personal property tax that you will have to pay that comes with a car of that caliber.
Great research! I have various friends who sell Monat and they say it’s vegan. Not sure why but yes I knew this was and is a sham. Looking up businesses on BBB shows you those as well.
One of the best anti-MLM video I have seen👏🏻👏🏻 seriously I can’t take it anymore I’m about to get my Esthetician license and I studied and worked my ass off same with my cosmo friends they work hard to get that license and these people think they can recommend skin and hair care with no knowledge on it or even training like what?! I’m done ranting🤣 Thanks for speaking out🖤
I love when they say “no monthly quotas” but you have to spend a certain amount every month (I believe it’s $100) to stay a “active” market partner. So when you see them share a whole cabinet of products because “they love Monat so much” it’s not that they love it so much it’s that they HAVE to buy products otherwise bye bye paycheck. 😂
I'm pretty sure to get their "bonus" aka commission from their downline, they also have to spend around $250 a month, depending on rank, to just get the bonus check.
You don’t have to sell products to be successful. You don’t have to sell them at all actually. I’ve been a market partner for over a year. I joined to try all products for that first hand experience. You get your own personal discounts. You don’t even have to be a market partner to be in the business, you can be a VIP customer. It is not a monthly subscription lol. You buy products when you need them. The products last 3-6 months so why would you buy things monthly? Y’all have it all mixed up simply because you’re looking from the outside.
Hi Stephanie, I appreciate your feedback as someone who is involved in Monat! However, you might want to consider taking your comment down because making claims like “you don’t have to sell products to be successful. You don’t have to sell them at all actually” could be taken as evidence that Monat is functioning as an illegal pyramid scheme. The main difference between MLMs and pyramid schemes, and therefore the thing that keeps them legal, is that there is a product in exchange for the money you are giving to the company.
@@HannahAlonzo reasoning for saying that you be successful as a person using it. You can still benefit as an individual, you don’t have to make profit off others to be doing well with the products. If you’re intentions are to only make money then yes you’re going to have to sell to multiple people. This business is nothing near a pyramid scheme. Nothing different than a salon. Salons profit off their clients and what products the client purchase.
I feel like the conditioner being more expensive is literally someone going "people buy conditioner more often than shampoo" and then mr krabs level of chuckling as they up the price of them.
Thank you for this update, you’re totally right! I just looked it up again and it looks like I was looking at a 2017 document when I saw the $19.99. It’s now $49.99 😕
I have been doing this 1 month because I am unemployed. The whole thing just makes me wonder. And I am left asking wth am I doing... I am not even the type to want to message a bunch of people about a product and Instagram my only platform. Just seems weird. I invested like 300 into the skin product to start😰
Just please know that if you don’t feel like you’re succeeding, it’s not a reflection of you! These business models are strategically set up so that the people at the bottom lose money in order for the people at the top to make money. Not making money in Monat is not your fault ❤️
@@HannahAlonzo the hair products as well make my hair even more oily. Just all seems too weird and too good to be true making 500 to 1000 a month. I don't even know 24 people or 100 like they keep emphasizing. It was a friend who got me with the whole oh you need a job working from your apartment ? 😭
@@rachaelmceuen7991 If it seems too good to be true, it most likely is. Unfortunately, recruiting others into the company is the main source of income for Monat reps... so your friend got a bonus for signing you up. They are taught to target people in vulnerable financial situations (such as being unemployed) because they know these people will be more likely to join and they can make a quick buck. I’m really sorry that happened 💔
@@HannahAlonzo it all sucks. They pressure me into doing group calls, or text me to go on and work with them. And when they say work I don't understand what they actually mean . But last night I said no 2x and the leader persisted to tell me to go on which to me was pushy. I am an Introvert at heart so that already pushed me back. But not only that my hair has become alot thinner after 4 days . Yesterday in the car a little lump came out. When I asked why I got a huge text explaining how it is a hair detox! I am already self conscious about my hair and wanting it to grow so I am not happy right now. :( thanks for letting me vent and express myself ! :(
I have absolutely no source for this, but I'd bet you $100 that the conditioner costs more because most people I know people buy conditioner more frequently.
I know that you have to put the vehicle under your name and you get the car payments as monthly cheques in the mail, so the minute you stop making enough to receive the car payments, you're stuck paying for the LUXURY VEHICLE UNDER YOUR NAME yourself, oof. I didn't think about having to pay income taxes on your car payment cheques, though! uggghhh, they just keep getting worse and worse.
Oh wow thank you so much for sharing! Your insight as a cosmetologist is super valuable! 🙌🏼
@@HannahAlonzo you're welcome! Trust me anyone's stylist would rather you use a regular drugstore brand than pay a chunk of $$$$ for low quality product that can damage your hair, cause buildup, etc.
There’s some great drugstore brands and dupes 🙌🏻
As a Canadian, I can vouch that those CAD prices are still totally insane for us.
Absolutely!
$1 CAD = $0.72354 USD
$40 CAD × $0.72354 = $28.9416 United States Dollars
If you came to the US on vacation and bought it, you'd spend the same amount.
Rewatching this and I'm amazed at how you showed up with quality anti-MLM content right out of the gate
Considering how big of a mess Monat is in right now, this video aged like fine wine.
Yes 🙌 👏
Oh dear, I just looked up "not your mother's " dry shampoo and there actually is a lawsuit against them😬
A lot of businesses have lawsuits but the details, reasons, and quantity proportional to the size of the company is very important!
I hope you and your wife survived Monat. Very sad to read your comment…🌸🩷
Awwwww it's baby Hannah. I've be binge watching you for months now. It's been so cool watching you grow and mature on camera 😍 you rock🎉
I would also like to state I am so jealous of how well constructed this video was! Not many people are great speakers (myself included) but you have an amazing grasp at it!
Thank you for your kind words! ❤️
GO SARAHHHH!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
it is sad that a company like this hasnt been boycotted in 2021, my blood boils every time I see someone I follow on Instagram getting involved or "becoming a business owner".
So happy you looked into it more and that I could help! 🙌🏼
I hope ALL mlms are a pass for you xxx they are ALL terrible .
Lol I was about to join this monat thank god I watched this video saved my money and hair lol
Now you can be a part of us, the Anti-MLM movement!

If anyone has to watch past the point of “94.03% didn’t make it past the ground level rank...” which is a mere $183/year then there’s literally nothing that will convince them that Monat isn’t a good idea.
Such a huge red flag, right??
Same! And I only used the hair care once! Freaked me out
Luckily I didn’t get any of those problems. I do have to say I like their product, but they are way too expensive. Not worth it at the end.
What a breakdown! Thanks for taking the time to educate people of the dangers of this companies. I like how easy and explained this video is, specially is touching the important aspects on point! Thanks again for being a part of educating people about MLM!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for watching Emily! And good for you for doing your research! 🙌🏼
im a PROFESSIONAL hairstylist and I appreciate you doing this video!

"Any color, as long as it's white" applies to both the Monat Motor Club and the demographic of most MLMs
You may not reach everyone, but you will help some♥️
This is the only video that clearly states every aspect about joining moment, with clear arguments and proof! Thank you!

Right?? People love to comment that I'm wrong, but they won't point out specifics about what I said that was incorrect.
I wish I saw this sooner. I’m returning all of my products and cancelling my card after the returns process
Yep MPs are still sending out info as recent as this week warning new customers of the detox period where they may experience their hair falling out.
Lots of other Canadians have said this too! Doesn’t matter the country I suppose, it’s all insanely expensive no matter where you are! 😂

This made my night! 😂
I don’t understand how they get the cars. There are 3 factors that go into car buying. 1. Income 2. Credit Score 3. Loan to Value (LTV)
1.Judging by the stats that you pulled a person selling this on their own is not going to bring the income to get approved on this vehicle in the first place so their SO basically needs to be on this car note as well.
Thank you for your perspective as someone who sells cars! This is really informative!
Yeah that’s absolutely valid and something I didn’t think of
This 100% happens! They have to have their SO sign for them.
Yay thank you so much for watching! 🥰
You do know it’s law to pay at least $99 to start up any network marketing business right? Monat has the best comp plan, we literally get paid 10 different ways. $199 to start your own business is nothing. Plus that gets you a bunch of products. You can’t sell something you know nothing about.
@@Thestrawhatsociety LOL I said you have to pay money to receive commission. Read before you reply.
1 rep told me that the shampoo was made of only 1 ingredient and when I sent her the ingredient list she said "that's just the breakdown of the ingredient I mentioned." my friend just joined and tried to recruit me.
You are 110% exactly spot-on!
They’re trained to “prey” and “manipulate” by their uplines so the big guys at the top can get rich.
I don’t think I’d the company
I think sometimes is the MP leaders that push you and do anything to get a good bonus but you don’t have to be a MP
Unfortunately I joined in July and I haven’t made any sales …. Plus non of the products worked for me I am going get out of this monat stuff…
I think those are very valid reasons for getting out! ❤️

They have training in the back office about the products and stuff but the majority of the time, product training came from the upline. Especially if the product doesn’t work for a customer and the upline tells you what else to recommend them. I used to do Monat unfortunately.

Omg please keep making anti-mlm content! I really enjoyed this
I appreciate your feedback! I absolutely plan to 😊 these videos just take a long time to research and create, but the next one is coming soon!
@@HannahAlonzo totally understand! I appreciate the research and effort you put in :)
I wish I could send this to my best friend who joined Monat and won’t stop trying to recruit me 😓 I don’t have the heart to tell her it’s a scam.
Sorry if this comes across as apathetic - im autistic - but why cant you just send it to her?if she reacts super horribly and mean then not very good friend anyway. Should be able to tolerate criticism and debate, and this antimlm UA-camr is definitely the kindest most tactful I've seen
Thanks for informing people, very clear and concise video. Its so clear to me it's a scam🙄
I have no idea what MLM is so I had go on a deep dive on your channel 😂 love u sis
I have always been curious! Thanks for this breakdown!
Can anyone give any recommendations for anything similar? It’s been really working on my hair but I don’t want to give a mlm my business
You just saved me over $200. Thanks so much!
P.s. love your hoodie! Can you share where you bought it? Thanks!!
Wow this made my night! 🙌🏼 I found the hoodie thrifting but it’s from Forever 21!
If Monat was so great it would be in Ulta or Sephora. Based on what little I’ve seen my money is better spent there than some distributor
Y lie tho?
"Naturally based" is literally meaningless in this context. Even the most synthetic and toxic chemicals started life as naturally occurring substances. Not to mention 100% naturally occurring highly toxic substances.
When you showed the marshmallow “experiment,” all I could think of was Dale and Brennan: “last week we put liquid paper on a bee…and it died.”

I’m 47 years old and let’s just say I’ve seen some shit in my life. However, I’ve never seen any shit like this.
Story time:
A good friend of mine is a Monat partner, whatever the fuck that means, excuse my French. I asked about a shampoo I saw her and a bunch of other friends using. I said I wanted to buy it. She gave me this whole cockamamie speech talking about “if you but this, you get this,” and so on and so forth. Before I knew it, my fiancé was like “Babe, did you order $160 worth of product?”
Now, I’m not saying it’s her fault.
I’m glad my friend got the money but I’ll never order again. I’m just glad my hair hasn’t fallen out.
Ditch these lame “friends” for people who aren’t gullible & greedy.
Thank goodness I saw this! I was sooooo close to signing in
One of the best anti-MLM video I have seen👏🏻👏🏻 seriously I can’t take it anymore I’m about to get my Esthetician license and I studied and worked my ass off same with my cosmo friends they work hard to get that license and these people think they can recommend skin and hair care with no knowledge on it or even training like what?!
Precisely! Great point!
This is the best, most informative video on this topic 💯👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Well done.
I really appreciate that, thank you!
@@HannahAlonzo You're welcome hun. You killed this 🙌🏽
I feel like the conditioner being more expensive is literally someone going "people buy conditioner more often than shampoo" and then mr krabs level of chuckling as they up the price of them.
One thing I learned. If you want a new Caddy get a real job and put your money in the bank!!!
Ty soo much for this video. I loved it
U r one of the most intelligent woman that I ever meet here on UA-cam. Congratulations. Blessings
i have a meeting with one of the “mentors” in about 20 minutes
lowkey kinda scared
seems like a toxic community
How did it go??
It’s actually $50 for the annual fee
Thank you for this update, you’re totally right! I just looked it up again and it looks like I was looking at a 2017 document when I saw the $19.99. It’s now $49.99 😕
It’s now 60 CAD 😆
I'm speechless about the Monat berry scrub being straight up canola oil....
I have been doing this 1 month because I am unemployed. The whole thing just makes me wonder. And I am left asking wth am I doing... I am not even the type to want to message a bunch of people about a product and Instagram my only platform. Just seems weird. I invested like 300 into the skin product to start😰
Made no sells either . I kinda feel I gave up already lol
Hannah- you are so funny! so ethical>>>you're amazing FR
Ugh I bought some of this from my daughter in law. She’s involved in lots of mlm’s. They’re kinda short on money so I did it to help them out.
I bet they count the "car payments" they send you as income and make you pay taxes on it.
They do 😂
Yes
I know that you have to put the vehicle under your name and you get the car payments as monthly cheques in the mail, so the minute you stop making enough to receive the car payments, you're stuck paying for the LUXURY VEHICLE UNDER YOUR NAME yourself, oof.
I didn't think about having to pay income taxes on your car payment cheques, though! uggghhh, they just keep getting worse and worse.
