Awesome! I hope to make more. If there‘s anything in particular you wish you could have help with, let me know. I can’t guarantee I’ll cover it (just depends on what I can come up with material for), but it helps to know what people actually want to see!
This is an excellent tutorial. I’ve had the 8bit warps for a few weeks now and still working on understanding everything which I chose as my first synth. This is exactly what I needed. Need to get a MIDI dongle to update it with the new features! Thanks for the lesson friend!
Thank you, I'm glad to hear that! And yeah, I had to get an adapter for Sonicware updates as well. I initially got the cheapest one on Amazon/AliExpress, and I eventually got it to work after a lot of adjustments, but the more expensive ones definitely work a lot better (unfortunately).
Also a good trick of using the memory level to fade in the realtime sequence, I don't think I've ever done that either 😄 With that in mind you can use Shift+Play to mute and unmute the sequencer too
this makes me interested in getting one of these, again. I had one very briefly but it just didn't have the capability i wanted. this firmware update might be it. either way this is a very helpful video. thanks.
Thank you! I think it's a good choice of first synth! Is there a specific aspect of the MIDI you're wondering about? What are you wanting to do with it? (I'm asking because MIDI encompasses a very wide range of things!)
@SonicCartography I was thinking of pairing it with the arturia keystep yet don't know if I should buy it to use as a midi controller for the liven 8bit and other gear I may use to add.
@@user-fk5nb4vo7j ah, I see. I'll see if I can make a video on things like that at some point. I have a Keystep myself (the most basic model). To be honest, I've only used it with the Warps and other Sonicware Livens a couple of times. The Keystep seems more useful if you have a synth without a sequencer or arpeggiator, but the Livens have both already. I guess the main advantage is just having a more "proper" keyboard to play on, if that's important to you (personally it's not to me)-that and having a chord mode, which the Livens don't have.
1:21 You can create white noise in the FM engine by rapidly modulating both the depth and ratio with the log lfo.
Great work on this. Nice idea about using the arpeggiator alongside the melody you've recorded, never thought to try that 😁
Thank you, Chris! I appreciate you saying that!
I have been dying for this kind of a video. I struggle with using the 8 bit warps and needed this

Sweet! Definitely do another video. You're smart. As an 8 bit warp user i greatly respect and appreciate this!
Thank you! Glad you liked it! And I do have another 8bit Warps-related video planned!

@@SonicCartography Well good to know, might just get a higher quality one then.
@@infectedzero I'm all for saving money though, so if you get the cheap one and need help, let me know!
Thank you so much bro! This thing has kicked my butt trying to learn to use it.
Thank you-I hope it helped!

Oooh, good to know! I didn't know that!
Thanks this is super helpful. I’d love to see more ideas on how to use the 8bit warps. I’m picking one up soon.
Thank you! Glad it was helpful. I hope to make more videos on it, and I hope you enjoy the Warps when you get it!
Your tuto is quite a bit quick for me!❤
Do you mean I'm talking too quickly for you or going through the information/ideas too quickly for you?

Thank you! I'm glad to hear that, and I hope you like it more this time if you get it again!
Could you to a tutorial on the midi? I'm fairly confused on it as it's my first synth. Also great video👍

@@SonicCartography ah ok thanks👍
Nice. Don't have an 8bit warp (yet) but this makes me want one.
Thank you! And glad to hear that - it's a really fun synth and has been becoming one of my favorites lately!
Get it! It's basically a PC Engine without the games!
