    I have a us2000 plus, voldtage was at 30ish, just hooked up My bench power supply at 53v 5A, turned on battery and held in SW button 10 sec, and it started charging..
    Went pretty quick up to 45v, chogging away slowly at 225 wh..

    I have just had a pylon tec us5000 shut down because a faulty inverter drained it without me noticing, at the time it shut down it still had 10% charge (to protect the battery I assume) I am hoping that when the inverter is fixed it will power up the battery without any lasting damage, I would of thought your battery would have had the same protection or had it been left for a long time thereby emptying it completely. Many thanks for all your videos.

      At 10% your us5000 will be fine. They can drain down to 5% it says in the manual. This battery was left on, uncharged so long that the BMS itself drained it down to nothing. So long as yours is off using the rocker switch, it shouldn't drain any lower.

    Very good video. Thank you !! What is the wiring schematic between the ISDT ? (7 pins) to the BMS (10 pins) ? If you have a picture BTW ? Thank you for your help.

    That was a yay!........boo! moment, good luck with the fix. Perhaps a reset will help (pressing SW button for 4 or 5 secs), but you may need to connect it to your inverter.

    LFP above 1v can usually be revived. Its the under 1v cells that I've had little luck with. Over 1.5v has been almost a guaranteed revive

    I understand wanting to recover the battery, I'm only 5 minutes in, I don't think I would be doing this on a carpeted floor, especially on kit that I have no idea on how it was treated before! I've lived through a house fire, not a pleasant memory.
    Otherwise, great video 😀

    Hi Nicholas, I have a brand new "bricked" US5000 battery that was fully charged, I had to shut it down to after a prolonged power failure on the grid and since then I'm no longer able to start it up. No leds, no sound nothing. BMS comm is down. It seems unlikely that it is completely discharged. In the documentation it mentioned the possibility of a broken fuse. So my question is, during your journey digging into the internals of this pylontech US2000 battery, have you seen anything resembling to a fuse? I can't open mine since that would void the warranty.

    • @nicholashowell
      @nicholashowell  Рік тому

      I don't (off the top of my head) recall seeing the fuse, perhaps it is possible to spot it from my footage of the inside?

    I have a us2000 and us2000c. Both flat. The charger you have has 9 pins? And each of the 3 batteries have 10 pins. How did you connect your isdt to the batteries?

    • @nicholashowell
      @nicholashowell  4 місяці тому

      I didn't use the balance leads in this case as I just wanted to add enough charge to each block to enable the BMS to turn on.

    Hi Nicholas, you clearly know your stuff! Here's a question for you: we recently had a new solar panel setup installed with a US3000C battery. Unfortunately the installer wasn't great and plugged the CAN cable into the wrong port on the inverter leaving the battery drained to 0% for 2 months (while I chased him to come and fix). Will the battery be damaged by this? It appears to be working fine now. Just wanted to hear your thoughts. Thank you.

    • @nicholashowell
      @nicholashowell  Рік тому +2

      Well my experience has been that the totally flat one I recovered has been working fine and doesn't appear to have suffered any lasting damage. Hopefully yours is the same. You could plug in the battery software that I used in the video to see what the BMS thinks the capacity of the battery still is, this would give you some confidence that all was still well.

      I basically used something like this www.amazon.co.uk/Balance-Extension-Battery-Charging-Silicone/dp/B08L5WCH82/ with the desired number of wires. I then pulled the pins out of the one end so that I could feed each pin directly into the balance cable of the battery. If that make sense.

    I have had a terrible experience with these batteries.
    I purchased 4 of the 3000c type. The supplier sent me three 3000c and a 3000, I returned the 3000 and they sent be the correct one, a 3000c.
    On connecting the new 3000c the second battery went into idle mode, wouldn't charge or discharge, and would not revive after leaving overnight.
    I contacted the supplier and was told they would replace that battery under warranty, which they did.
    On connecting, the other three batteries went into idle mode and stayed there.
    They told me I had connected the comms bus incorrectly and that I needed an Xcom/Can unit to communicate with my existing Studer XTM 4000/48 and the Studer Variotrack which I purchased at the same time as the batteries. They had not mentioned that and I had never seen one needed.
    Now they want over $7000 to replace the batteries. That I suspect were just a bad batch as the one replaced under warranty was fine when returned.
    I have sent the whole lot back and it is now in the hands of my lawyers.
    Grrrrr.

      Have to say, it does sound like some kind of Comms issue.

      @@nicholashowell
      The biggest comms issue was with the supplier I reckon.
      The BMS is to protect the battery, not tell it what to do. In fact I was told to return the inverter back to default settings, far higher than the batteries could take, I didn't do that.
      Well, like I said, I returned the whole order.
      The comms mismatch should not have blown the BMS, I still suspect a bad batch of BMSs and the supplier not wanting to honour the warranty.
      We shall see.
      I will let you know how it pans out.
      Cheers.
