I'm back from my trip and can safely say that my backpack was the way to go! Especially with all the buses, trains, and cobblestone streets I had to deal with - I'm very thankful I chose not to bring my rolling carry on suitcase. Hope you guys are all doing well and can't wait to share Prague and Vienna with you!!! (ps - are you guys a morning or evening flight kind of person?)
When nobody sees you leaving, it's ok to not to say goodbye, this tactics works in all countries. How do you think I am leaving pub when I don't want another beer? 😀
LOL "I'm Irish, so I never learned how to say goodbye" -- I cackled. The amount of friends I have who do "the Irish goodbye"!! Amazing. Can't wait to hear more about Prague and Vienna!
You're so adorable when you're packing and checking to see how the backpack feels (and that karate kick). I hope you're having an amazing time in Europe!
I'm flying out next week for my first trip and planning/packing has been stressing me out, but seeing you walk through your process for both was super helpful and motivating!💕 Looking forward to the Europe vlog!!
Seriously! I had a flight recently that left at 4 am, which meant I had to leave my house at 1 am to get there in good time. I tried sleeping in the afternoon but my anxiety would NOT let me!!!
děkuji and děkuju are the same thing. maybe děkuji can be a little bit more formal but the difference is very small so it doesnt really matter which one you use. hope you enjoyed the trip, very excited for the vlog❤❤
15:20 I neve travled by plane before but I heard that where I am (Germany) people have to make sure to not go over 150ml of liquids or else you have to trow them away in the airport or buy a seperate clear pouch and pay extra for what you want to carry with you. Not too sure if they still do that
14:06 when I was a kid I wore pants 2 weeks in a row. My mom even forced me to. She said as long they are not dirty I can wear them up to 3 weeks. It was a struggle tho, cause my classmates knew I had multiple different styled pants and so said rude shit to me when I wore my pants for a 2nd week, as like as if they wouldn't have done the same. I do this still cause I don't want to wash clothes that often who are not dirty or smelly. I may switch a few times inbetween when I want to wear another outfit like a dress or skirt or sweatpants but other than that I wear my pants till I think they are due to the washing mashine
Cari, thank you for talking about your anxiety, it makes me feel hopeful and a little bit less alone. I actually should be flying to Seoul for the first time tomorrow, but recently had to cancel the trip because of debilitating anxiety. I'm absolutely heartbroken about it and honestly feel defeated. But watching you overcome your anxiety and travel/fly, despite these difficulties, is making me start to believe that I could do that too, one day. 💓🌸🧚🏻♀️
You have made solo traveling look so easy that it was helpful to see how nervous you are about it. Gave me comfort with my own level of nerves before going on a trip. Only domestic travel but just took my first solo flight in quite along time.
Cari Darling! Hope you had a lovely trip! I see that you got a kindle now! I wonder where do you prefer to read now if there or still on the iPad? Hope you have a lovely weekend X
for some reason this was the most hilarous vlog of yours 19:07 made me laugh out loud, sitting here alone in front of my laptop with my dinner. you stressing about having too much time is just so relatable and funny istg
I wear jeans for at least a week or so, except of course if they get dirty. I would have needed way more shirt options, though! Spring/autumn is the hardest to pack for with big temp changes between days - should I bring 5 short sleeves? 5 long sleeves? Or half-half? Why is the forecast literally changing every hour? (Yes, just got home for a short trip where I totally did not touch half of my tops. But I could have! 😅)
Watching this while packing for Barcelona XD. I'm happy to see that I am not the only one who plan every little thing before a trip, because my friends are currently "hating" on me for this, they're more relaxed and decide what to do once they are in a place (that is giving me so much anxiety). I'm really happy that you enjoyed Prague so much, it is one of my favorite cities!
I live on a tropical island so jeans go max 3 days before washday When I lived in Europe I would wear my jeans for 7 days before I would wash them. Saw a video once that said you shouldn't wash jeans TOO often.😊
Great backpack from Kurt. I once traveled from Glasgow to Brussels via Manchester and when I got on the flight from Glasgow it was only me I was the only one on the plane and I was sweating my anxiety was through the roof. Have a great trip and enjoy. You're probably back now so hope you had a great time. Take care.
Love how you pack for a trip. I'm going to try to do the same this summer when I travel. Where did you get your lovely black purse with the long strap? Looks nice and light and easy to use. Most bags end up hurting my shoulder. lol
I have SUCH flight anxiety, too. I like... can't even really choke down a meal until I'm through airport security and I've seen with my eyes that my gate is, in fact, real. Because of all of this, I NEED to get to the airport ages before boarding. The way you're able to pack though lol... my high maintenance ass can NOT relate😂
I rewear jeans all the time. On a recent trip to NYC I brought 2 pairs of jeans for 7 days. I think it helps if you hang them up between wears and don't wear them on consecutive days.
Thank you dear Cari, for all your inspiring content. It is really a joy to watch and you are a real sunshine. Your videos lighten my day no matter what. ❤
you travel really light! I love that, I'm trying to do that recently and it's a bit difficult. But I would always pack 2 pair of shoes, the ones I'm wearing and an extra just in case it rains or snows and I get soaked! also a waterproof jacket. Those plum blossoms looked lovely. We are in the end of a heat wave and I'm looking forward to wear sweaters and drinking hot tea
yeah luckily i brought my doc martens which i had waterproofed so we're good for any weather europe might throw at us hahah and i just got back and agree, i am very obsessed with prague!
I stumbled across you a while ago and I love your videos. I live in Missouri and my dream is to one day eat my way thru South Korea!! I loved this video bc I am going on my first big trip over seas in June. My hsb and I are going to Romania for 2 weeks. I met my Romanian friend on line 8 yrs ago (thank you BTS) and we are finally meeting in person. I am so freaked out about flying so far, airports, security, making connections and HOW TO PACK! My hsb is a firefigher/medic and myself a retired medic, I have that mentality of always being prepared and I tend to over pack. Seeing you pack for a 9 day trip (in cold climate no less) in a backpack has given me hope that I can restrain and pack well too. We fly out of Chicago at 6 in the evening, fly into Frankfort, then to Vienna then to Romania, (afternoon flight) on the way back just to Frankfort to NYC then back to Chicago. I prefer early morning flights but I am thinking with the time difference, flying "overnight" may be to my advantage.. we shall see! Hoping to go to SK May of 2024!!
You really SOLD that backpack i cant believe it fit that much!! I usually always bring my roller carry-on because i hate having to carry all my things and making my shoulders ache- but for a cobblestone destination maybe its worth it to bring the Big Backpack.
Loved the minimalist packing, Cari! So curious about your discussion on pre flight anxiety and would be interested in an in-depth discussion of it in your future vids. I love travelling but since 2019 I've been a nervous flyer because of a particular scary flight 😭 Anyway, loved this vlog ❤❤
The preflight anxiety - I felt so seen and at the same time felt bad because I knew exactly what you were going through. I also hate late flights. If a flight is anywhere between 6am-noon I am good to go. Last week my flight for Paris was at 8:25am and I loved that for me :D Eagerly awaiting for the Prague/Vienna travel vlogs!
I have the same style bra so i packed three of them, put them together, and folded them! But yeah they do take up space lol. Undies and socks i just stuff into the bottom of my suitcase as tight as possible 😂😂😂
So exited for this video! Looking forward seeing more of Prague and Vienna and all the lovely places you visited. 😀 The minimalism packing is absolutly nothing for me 😅 I don't know what, when or how often I wear my clothes. I don't bring that much, but I always need to bring extra clothes for occasions which then do not occur 😅 You know what I think is also very impressive, that you try to lern a little bit of the language from every country you go. This is amazing, I don't even know what else I can say about this, but props for this 😳👍
Glad you had a safe trip!! Excited to hear more about it! I know the feeling of do-I-have-everything lol, if a different situation, I just downsized to a much smaller crossbody (zipper broke on my last one, hope to fix it eventually) and when I was about to leave my apartment I also was like…is that it??
Hi Cari! Can you talk about how you plan a trip? Especially an international one. I will be going on my first international trip this year and any tips would be helpful!
For long flights I actually like leaving at night so I can get on the plane and go to sleep. I fly out of LAX so you know it's a pain getting there and then the flight itself always makes my anxiety worse. Looking forward to your vlog, I'll be in Hungary this summer and might hop over to Vienna so looking for some places to check out there. Thank you for sharing your packing process! I would love to be minimalist but I'm always the one with a huge suitcase 😅
Totally agree. Night flights always make me so tired because I can’t fall into deep sleep while sitting down. Btw, I’m glad to see you're back safely. Can’t wait for ur Europe vlog. Greetings from gangnam. 🙇♂️💙
Tbh, if it's not super hot and I don't sweat bullets, I'm fine with rewearing jeans like 3 days in a row. Or I just switch them like after 2 days and leave them to, like, air out? I don't even know if it does something, but I've been doing this on trips. :)
Omg!! I can totally get a lot of the travel anxiety and planning difficulties haha~ I'll travel to Korea in 2 and a half weeks and it says it'll be 14°C-21°C (!) degrees during daytime, but friends say it's still cold in April and of course temperatures drop at night, soo like whaat should I pack~ anyways, I digress~ So glad you came to Europe and enjoyed it! 😊
Lovely video! I wanted to mention that right now there is a Trans book/author readathon going on in the bookish community! On the week of the 20th of March, people will be reading as many books by trans authors or with trans rep in them as they can and pledging donations to causes that help trans people- specifically in the U.S. right now. If you want some recommendations for this, here they are: Specifically books that include trans rep: Hell followed with us, Her Majesty’s Royal Coven, Cemetery Boys, The T in LGBT, and Felix Ever After! Overall queer rep: Our Wives Under the Sea, Priory of the Orange Tree (and it’s sequel), We Have Always Been Here, Swimming in the Dark, Call Me By Your Name, This is How You Lose a Time War, The Binding, The Drowning Empire trilogy, She Who Became the Sun (and it’s sequel coming out in August!!), The Starless Sea, These Violent Delights, The Jasmine Throne, Six of Crows, Song of Achilles, Heartstopper, It Came From the Closet, and Red, White, and Royal Blue. Wow that was a lot to type lol that’s all folks! Have a wonderful day ❤️🏳️⚧️
Have fun in Europe! 🎉 If you are up to another Europe trip this year, try to visit Frankfurt, Germany at Oktober. There will be the Frankfurt buchmesse/book fair. One of the worlds largest trade fair for books!!!❤ 📚❤
It’s the “I didn’t learn goodbye in either languages” for me 😂😂 also, jeans are meant to be worn 5 times before washing (obviously outside of like soiled).
I sometimes wear my jeans for 1h, sometimes the whole day, so the 5 times rule wouldn't work for me (but I think it comes to that, more or less). After a certain amount of wear, they go from a bit to tight (after wasing) to a bit too lose on the waist, that's when I wash them 🤷🏻♀️
I feel you stressing out girl I’m the same hahah I was in Vienna last September and it was a dream experience I loved it so much! And I visited Prague this January and I’m still super impressed by it, loved both cities a lot! Hope you had a blast!❤ also washing jeans every wear- nonono, I’m good 😅
I completely understand the anxiety on waiting for a later flight. I get the same way, even with appointments I have in the evening when I have a mostly free day beforehand. I do have a question though, How do you handle other toiletries like shampoo, or body wash? Do you just have those things supplied to you from where you're staying? I understand if you didn't show them because it might be too personal, I was just curious!
i was staying at airbnbs so they provide shampoo/conditioner/body wash so all i needed was face wash :) im not particular so i dont need to bring my own specific thing^^
Thank you cari for making adult hood problems feel less intimidating. I am 24 never flew anywhere before got my passport last week. Never did my taxes but guess this year will have to learn but i don't know how. I want to travel but i am not sure about the future but i am saying live in the present and never forget your ambition and dreams. Hopefully 30 year old me can look back and be proud!
Hi Cari! Wow, I'm amazed by how you pack for solo travel. Wish I could do the same for my future travels so it's easier to move around. 😀 I'm currently in Seoul. I was wondering where you got your black personal/body bag that you brought with you. It also looks convenient to bring around while travelling.
Excited to see the places in Before Sunrise if youve had the chance to see it. Nevertheless, I just wanna see the trip overall 😂😂😂 your travels always makes me happy
Thank you so much for being real about your anxiety around flying! I am the same way! I’m so happy when I get to wherever I’m going but hate the airports most of all - especially since the time the stupid TSA decide they had to pat down my autistic six year old for drugs and basically ripped them from my arms. We both have trauma from that day (and they also decided they had to take my husband away for a more serious search - like, really??!!). But I’ve always hated airports. Once I’m on the plane I’m bored but okay.
I will fly to Seoul in Sept and I chose a flight that will leave in the afternoon. The stopover will be during the night and then off to Seoul at 1-2AM. I absolutely love night flights because I can sleep. I don't know how I'll feel leaving Doha at 2AM and arriving in Seoul at 4PM 🤣🤣🤣🤣 tbh I think I'll be disoriented for 3 days just because of the flight. I also hate waiting to leave for the airport because I get anxious about forgetting things and I start re-checking everything every 20 mins and in the end I DO forget things because of all the packing and unpacking.
Did you encounter the same issue with Amsterdam this time around? I relocated here and I find security checks the most efficient out of the airports I've gone to (ignoring all the delays etc we had not that long ago hehe), because you don't need to take anything outside of your bag (e.g. tech or liquids).
Difference between "děkuji" and "děkuju" is just super formal vs every day language. "Děkuji" is very formal, you will see it pretty much just in books, so you can use both of it as you wish. Or you can say shortly "díky" which is also acceptable in most of situations.
I always find it interesting the difference between packing for solo travel vs a trip with others. There's no packing for unexpected changes, possibilities depending on my companion's mood, dinner dates, special outings, etc. You know exactly what's happening, what you have clothes for, and the vibe of the trip and I'm always paranoid because my pack is always so much lighter and im like, I had to have forgotten SOMETHING. lol Oh, and I'm a morning flght person domestically, but international flights I go evening so I sleep on the plane and its day when I arrive.
Thoughts about rewearing hahaha. I live in the Netherlands and my family is really contious about the environment so we mostly rewear things for 3 days. But it is more about if it is dirty/smelly because than you will trow it in the washing machine but if it looks okay and smells okay than you can rewear it hahaha. It is better for your clothes and better for the environment
Wow. I feel that you are so brave traveling solo. I’m glad that you’re back safely and enjoyed your trip. I’m a morning flight person. Where did Kurt get that backpack. It looks awesome and so roomy.
I'm back from my trip and can safely say that my backpack was the way to go! Especially with all the buses, trains, and cobblestone streets I had to deal with - I'm very thankful I chose not to bring my rolling carry on suitcase. Doesn’t matter it’s all about thr destination
definitely morning!
I want to be flying in the sky 'both of both world' sooo day and night! ⛅🌠 praying I'd be able to fly again this year 🛩️🙏🏻
Welcome home to Korea & UA-cam 😂😂
Thank you for the pre trip video
Definitely like a.m. flights. I’m always worried that later flights will be backed up or cancelled.
"I'm Irish, that's why I never learn to say goodbye, I JUST FADE INTO DARKNESS." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 DEFINITELY choked on my coffee there.

Totally agree. Night flights always make me so tired because I can’t fall into deep sleep while sitting down. Btw, I’m glad to see you're back safely. Can’t wait for ur Europe vlog. Greetings from gangnam. 🙇♂️💙
Yeah im never rested no matter how long i sleep on a plane hahha and thank you!
Tbh, if it's not super hot and I don't sweat bullets, I'm fine with rewearing jeans like 3 days in a row. Or I just switch them like after 2 days and leave them to, like, air out? I don't even know if it does something, but I've been doing this on trips. :)
Wow enjoy your trip I actually live in Ceske budejovice not far from krumlov doing phd there and I pronounce chesky 🤷🏽♀️
Really enjoyed this vid ❤Looking forward to the Europe vlogs!! 😊
Watching this as I pack for a 4-6 week creative vacation and it’s helping me rethink some things, thanks:)
Omg have so much fun!!
Omg I'm obsessed with rick steves!!! Lol it's so good to see someone else who gets the deal lol
Love the little black purse. Where did you get it from?
On the week of the 20th of March, people will be reading as many books by trans authors or with trans rep in them as they can and pledging donations to causes that help trans people- specifically in the U.S. right now.
If you want some recommendations for this, here they are:
Specifically books that include trans rep:
Hell followed with us, Her Majesty’s Royal Coven, Cemetery Boys, The T in LGBT, and Felix Ever After!
Overall queer rep:
Our Wives Under the Sea, Priory of the Orange Tree (and it’s sequel), We Have Always Been Here, Swimming in the Dark, Call Me By Your Name, This is How You Lose a Time War, The Binding, The Drowning Empire trilogy, She Who Became the Sun (and it’s sequel coming out in August!!), The Starless Sea, These Violent Delights, The Jasmine Throne, Six of Crows, Song of Achilles, Heartstopper, It Came From the Closet, and Red, White, and Royal Blue.
Wow that was a lot to type lol that’s all folks! Have a wonderful day ❤️🏳️⚧️
Love! Where are your amazing pants from?
From a random korean shop last year 😭🙏
Have fun in Europe! 🎉
If you are up to another Europe trip this year, try to visit Frankfurt, Germany at Oktober. There will be the Frankfurt buchmesse/book fair. One of the worlds largest trade fair for books!!!❤ 📚❤
Good morning, Cari! 🌞
the best sister we all never haaaad :') Happy Sunday from the 🇵🇭!
❤❤❤❤❤
Looked like you had a great time from your IG Stories! Can’t wait to see the Europe vlogs! ❤
it was suuuuch a good trip, thank you!!
It’s the “I didn’t learn goodbye in either languages” for me 😂😂 also, jeans are meant to be worn 5 times before washing (obviously outside of like soiled).
we think alike hahahhaa
I sometimes wear my jeans for 1h, sometimes the whole day, so the 5 times rule wouldn't work for me (but I think it comes to that, more or less). After a certain amount of wear, they go from a bit to tight (after wasing) to a bit too lose on the waist, that's when I wash them 🤷🏻♀️
I'm getting so pumped up to go somewhere this fall.
🙏🙏
18:02 that kick should’ve been the thumbnail lmaoo
LOL
Thank you cari for making adult hood problems feel less intimidating. I am 24 never flew anywhere before got my passport last week. Never did my taxes but guess this year will have to learn but i don't know how. I want to travel but i am not sure about the future but i am saying live in the present and never forget your ambition and dreams. Hopefully 30 year old me can look back and be proud!
what shoes did you pack/wear??
love the minimalist packing!!
hope you had a wonderful trip!!
Thank you!! I have a pair of doc martens that are comfy and great for all kinds of winter weather :)
Hi Cari! Wow, I'm amazed by how you pack for solo travel. Wish I could do the same for my future travels so it's easier to move around. 😀
I'm currently in Seoul. I was wondering where you got your black personal/body bag that you brought with you. It also looks convenient to bring around while travelling.
Bless you and have fun out there
Thank you 🤍
I always kind of envy people that can solo travel. I am too co dependent! Enjoy your time !!!
maybe you can work yourself up to it! baby steps!!
Once I’m on the plane I’m bored but okay.
cari you're always funny but you're hilarious when you're stressed so i'm sorry but also thank you
I will fly to Seoul in Sept and I chose a flight that will leave in the afternoon.
Cari, i watched all your videos and I don't know what to do now. 😊🌸
cari, where did u get the black purse? 🙈
I always find it interesting the difference between packing for solo travel vs a trip with others. There's no packing for unexpected changes, possibilities depending on my companion's mood, dinner dates, special outings, etc. You know exactly what's happening, what you have clothes for, and the vibe of the trip and I'm always paranoid because my pack is always so much lighter and im like, I had to have forgotten SOMETHING. lol Oh, and I'm a morning flght person domestically, but international flights I go evening so I sleep on the plane and its day when I arrive.
as someone who's also a nervous flier i can very much relate 😂the waiting, ugh, the waiting is the worst
