This video was so helpful to me! I kept seeing people plant the stems trailing off like you said you used to, but I knew that wouldn't work for me because I started with a single stem!! And it wouldn't become full on its own. And he's still only about 6 inches long. This method will work so much better for me😁 thanks for sharing!
I also recently learned that you can cut between the pearls and place them in that way. Just leave a bit of string attached to each pearl and place them down.
hi! How often would you say you sprayed the top of it when you first propagated it? and at what point would you say you stopped spraying and transitioned to fully watering it?
This was so informative! Thank you very much! I'm waiting for my variegated sop cuttings and was looking for some advice. I'm still very insecure about watering them.. Should i water or mist them just a little right after putting them on soil? Did you leave them like that right away? If you did, when did you first water them after you put them on soil?
@@SuccyCrafts Thank you so much! ❤️ They arrived! I decided to put them on sphagnum instead of soil. Keeping them in bright direct sun just like you told me. I killed two sop (not variegated) a couple of years ago. This is my third attempt. However, I didn't know that much about plants back then. So fingers crossed.. 🤞
I’m going to try your method. I already had over watered my plant so I cut the ends to hopefully propagate and I tried water, they’ve just been rotting in the bottles. So I’m going to try this with my remaining snippets of string of pearls, wish me luck! So how often do you water while propagating this way?
Water it deeply the first time, until the water drains out from the bottom. Wait until the soil becomes dry again to water again. You can always do a dipstick test by inserting a wooden skewer or chopstick all the way to the bottom of your pot. Periodically check it for dampness. When the whole stick is dry, it's time to water. Make sure to place your pot in a bright but shaded location, no direct sunlight. Good Luck!
so you didn't propagate in water first to get any of the roots going? I have some strings in water right now but am wondering if I should take them out and switch to this method
Kate McAuliffe Water propagation works as well. It just depends how you want to do it. This is just the way I do it and have great luck. But I can see how starting them in water and then planting them in soil would work just as well.
I water it deeply and I wait for the soil to dry before watering g again. The trick is to leave it in bright indirect sunlight. No direct sunlight at all!!
About every week or sometimes even longer. Waiting for the soil to dry between waterings. The important part is to keep them in bright shade. Like under a canopy. No direct sunlight.
No update, since this planter was given away to a friend. But the string of pearls grew healthy and beautiful. Took about three months for decent growth.
Hmmmmm it’s hard to say without looking at a photo of them. Either way I would try to wash off or cut off the infested areas and replant what is left. Good luck!
@@monik5182 There are so many things that can be going wrong. I use succulent soil, in a planter with drainage. I keep them in bright indirect sunlight outdoors and water them until the soil is completely dry. I use a moisture meter just to be safe. It takes practice, sooooo it never hurts to try again. Good luck*
I recommend you don’t spray them, it’s not enough water. Water them like you would any other plant, like in your kitchen sink. The only difference is how often you water them. Rule of thumb, every two weeks or so. Using a moisture meter helps!!
THANK YOU! No one else has said how to water the clippings & what to expect.
I did this 3 weeks ago and just noticed some signs of new pearls! Would love to see an update of how both these pots of pearls look like now

Thank you for taking the time to make this vid....I am new to collecting succies but my favs r the string of Dolphins and pearls
Welcome to the succulent world! I have both plants and you can propagate the string of dolphins the same way I propagated the string of pearls*
Same here! The “string of pearls” are my fav for these types. I don’t really like stringy types that much anyhow!

Love the video, I will do that for sure. Thank you for sharing!

Hello, I watered them after placing them in the soil. You can mist them but don’t let them get too dry. Keep them in bright indirect sun.

Thank you!! Great advice, I have a variegated variety, I hope to do this tomorrow
Update please. How's your string of pearls now?
Is there an update on the progress of these clippings? I couldn’t find it among your videos ☺️☀️
Awesome! 🥰

Thanks for sharing your idea 💡
Thanks for tuning in*
Update please💚
Great details! Thank you!!!! ☺
Any update??
Omg great video, thank you
I have string of tears, can I do the same way in propagating it?
absolutely!
Thank you going to do this today. Great video
Can I get a variegated cutting please?
When you do it this method, how often do you water it?
I water it deeply and I wait for the soil to dry before watering g again. The trick is to leave it in bright indirect sunlight. No direct sunlight at all!!
Succy Crafts thank you so much!! I’ve been wanting some SOP and I found this website and ordered some. I will try to propagate them!
Do you have an update on this?
After propagating at what point do you water?
It is okay to water them right away.
How often do you water when you loop it this way?
About every week or sometimes even longer. Waiting for the soil to dry between waterings. The important part is to keep them in bright shade. Like under a canopy. No direct sunlight.
I got root rot... 😭 couldn’t figure out why it was browning from the root then slowly snipping away the pearls 😭
More patient more good
Is there an update? :)
No update, since this planter was given away to a friend. But the string of pearls grew healthy and beautiful. Took about three months for decent growth.
Without any conversation on this process, it shouldn’t take this long to provide the information.
What soil did you use?
I mix equal parts of organic potting mix and perlite.
Hi thanks for the this beauty full video but wer
Proper-gate?
Why didn’t you just use little diy metal sticks that you fold over to keep the stems in place?
That is a great idea!
My string of pearls keeps creating tiny insects their black why

My string of pearls are rotting as soon as i repotted them 😞
Hmmmm where are you keeping them? indoors or outdoors?
Sunlight
One is indoors and otheris outdoor. Both are dying

Just saying it’s pronounced (Prob A Gate)
Not (Prop Er Gate)
