You help me get to sleep almost every night with these. These are stressful times and instead of thinking a thousand thoughts and keeping myself awake, I just lay there and watch a replay and eventually I'm falling asleep.
btw thanks for not swearing ever during those casts. Really appreciate it taking into consideration modern youtube trends that allows me to listen to the casts out loud while doing cleaning up or some other mechanical things
I'm really used to being just "Jaedong" as addressing him as a player or as "The zerg player" as addresing him as the zerg player, but "The Jaedong" feels like there would others out there... feels weird for me.
Just want to say thanks for introducing me to brood war. In the beginning of my subscription to your channel I was like, “eh I don’t play brood war” but it has been fun learning about this version of sc. THANKS :)
Woah, your voice was a lot different 6 years ago. Man, it is cool to see how you have managed to keep it up for more than 6 years and actually improved and raised the energy up after the years instead of lowering the quality. Saludos, hermano!
The first game was a clinic, holy shit! Edit: so was the second game. Any new Protoss players should study it, because 3 base hydra/lurker will be the most common Zerg build you will face on the lower ranks of the ladder and this is how you handle it. The move out with 8 +1 speed Zealots and the DT that went for the third are especially important to pay attention to. Moves like that keep the Zerg honest by forcing him to invest into sunkens, allowing you to secure your 3rd before the Zerg macro explodes.
I like sports ball! But only when you use your feet. Ended up here after seeing one of your more recent casts, and the on plus side of the Corona situation is I've gotten around to finally watching my first pro game of pro-Brood Wars. Very nice.
If you want to make your tracking smoother while observing there are a few things you can do. 1) Press space bar when you select a unit and it follows them so you see their vision. Good for following scouting probes etc. 2) Take your time to click on the mini map where you want to observe. A delayed jump to the right spot is better than moving the camera over from a bad location. 3) You can set hotkeys to jump to just like the players using the same buttons and f1 f2 f3. This allows you to set up specific zones you can flick back and forth from to cover multiple things happening at once
@timothy thao Pro matches in sc2 aren't very good even to this day. The reason why is the outcome tends to be pretty obvious most of the time. There are exceptions of course, but those matches tend to look more like Brood War then sc2. I think it's just the way collision works. The flow of units is too smooth, so only sim city ever really effects a fight all that much. Except for battle cruisers, their unique attack style is quite interesting. Overall, I would say sc2 just needs more time to develop as a scene. The balancing isn't really , well, it's not very good. It's pretty clear that Protoss stands no chance in tourney and zerg dominates. Serral and Reynor tend to compete against each other more then anything else.Clearly Blizzard hasn't quite gotten the hang of their newest RTS. It's a tricky thing balancing. But more then any of that my biggest problem with sc2 is that it just doesn't feel as grand most of the time. It's just...less impressive. Lot of little things. Hard to explain why exactly. But it definitely feels smaller. But maybe the newest patch that gave zealots their legs back and took out infested terrans will be better. #makestarcraft2broodwaragain I'm only mostly kidding.
@@yamchadragonball6983 Broodwar is good, but it get old so fast, and the diversity is laughable... always the same thing. What brings me back is the grim ambiance, and how strategies primes more often over macro, even tho said strategies are quite limitied in what they can do and on what they're based.
StarCraft needed an upgrade. It was time. It went super strong for 12 years. I do wish SC2 would have been closer to the style of BW though. With BW being remastered not to long ago it still brings in thousands of fans for pro tourney play entertainment. The game came out in 1998-99 & it still has a huge active fan base & big tournaments. But it’s mostly older fans like us that grew up playing SC & BW. I was 10 years old when I first played SC/BW on dial up Internet & that was in 2000 😂. I remember having to buy several SC discs at Walmart because the previous CD-Key not working or being stolen 😂. They needed to upgrade the game to bring in more newer younger fans. That’s what business do, evolve.
this chat in the beginning is sometimes because of lag. One player pauses and says lag. Could be real lag or could be a tactic to throw the enemy a bit off. In the replay you don't see pauses of course. And sometimes they just chat, but I think normal chat is unusual in korean matches..
was just reading comments looking if anyone else noticed that he missed some of the crutial moments in match, just because he is rumbling all the time, following scourges arround the map, not looking in minimap. To be honest i wanted to know who will win but i stopped watching after 3 fights..i caught myself cursing during match because i saw in minimap something fishy going on and idiot just kept singing or whatever he was doing..omg
For example, in 7:50 he's following a Corsair along the entire map while is followed by scourges, meanwhile, the pure's zealots are in JD's base. I mean...Falcon, take care of the important issues.
I've been following @Falcon Paladin for a couple of years now.... he's been constructively criticized about the minimap A LOT! He's getting better, but two years along, I suggest casting at slower game speed (I play fastest but replay at fast or less) or hiring a commentator to keep him from humming the game music while shtuff goes down on the minimap!
Falcon Paladin is a moron. I turn the sound off when I watch his replays because he's such a goof most of the time. If you watch enough of his replays you'll notice he routinely makes factually incorrect statements about the units and game mechanics as well. The thing is, if he didn't put up these replays who else would?
Ted Green no need to be a jerk about it. I haven’t noticed anything factual incorrect about units in any casts in the last year and very few in any even before then. Plus he’s gotten very good at following the action on the minimap
46:02 Jaedong was luring him into a hold position lurker trap, which you were looking right at. I love your energy but this is a big commentary miss man ;)
Dude, love your casts. Your gentle voice makes it fun to watch. I mainly watch PvZ so you won't see me on other matchups. Maybe make more of those? Maybe try to make a poll which matchup is most often watched?

Hey, just a tip, but when you do these best of 3/5/7 series, if one player wins and it doesnt come down to the final game, maybe add some blank space to the end of the video so the outcome isn't spoiled by video length :)

35:28 I think this was more-so for his own sake than because he felt like he actually lost that game. He probably could have kept going, but I feel like he must have felt that he made a big dumb-dumb move that he would never normally make because he came out of Game 1 with a lot of extra confidence due to just how much he completely manhandled Pure in it. Then he made a big mistake by initially starting to pull back and then redeciding thinking he could totally take that army, which is just a very uncharacteristic move of him, and I think he realized that and just wanted to take the L and reset and stuff.
I have found in Terran vs protoss gameplay that a good counter to ghosts from protoss is dark templars. Their speed plus permanent cloak allows them to snipe Terran ghosts. Against Zerg the protoss speed lots and reavers work best against mass hydralisks. I use high templar in late gameplay not early cause they are very hard to micromanage in the heat of battle.
I really like when you zoom the camera out. It's really cool to see more of the map and the positioning. Have you done a cast completely in the zoomed out option?
Hey falcon I would like to point out dark swarm only blocks range attacks not melee and splash zelotes are pratacly immune against hydras in it if they get on top in the swarm
kinda curious, just found your channel. I feel I have a decent knowledge of SC-BW. As much as I love watching e-sports, I have a hard time getting into sports. I think the main reasoning is that I personally am not athletic (2x spine surgeries nipped that in the bud) so I don't have a full respect for how skilled an athlete may be, but as someone who plays a lot of video games I can fully understand the skill they are exerting even if I can't put out remotely the same level of power.
Zealots vs. Zealots (Zerglings), Zealots vs Probes (Drones), etc. You are a talented commentator. You make me feel so much better about myself. Thank you.
