Hands down, you have the BEST expressions ever! "Hips and Valleys" "Braid the fabric like I'm braiding hair" "Respect the quarter inch!" I get "puckers"and we practice that expression "It will quilt out" and my favorite, "It is always faster to slow sew, rather than seam rip and sew again." You are so much fun to watch! Your directions are great, your presentation is fun, but I've learned a ton! Thanks!!!!!

I'm a Man Quilter too, and it's exciting to know that there are more men out there who sew/quilt and are proud of it. Congrats on your UA-cam channel, Rob! Can't wait to see what new things you bring every Monday! I must admit I am not a fan of curves, but I am willing to try this method you've shown. Maybe I've just been doing curves wrong, and this will change my mind.

I never would have thought to cut the fabric together for a curve but that is such an awesome tip! Thanks for the inspiration

This is super awesome! I am a sewing instructor to teens and kids and the most challenging projects are with boys who feel like they are doing girly projects. Blankets and quilts are part of my upcoming curriculum and this will be soo helpful to introduce to the boys. I currently have quilts in my studio, with scallops and curved edges. I must say a bit feminine to most. But I am confident, doing a quilt like this - with boy patterns and colors will be intriguing to them and create diversity in my studio in which it is in need of! THANKS SEW MUCH!

Rob, I saw you on the MSQC video, every since i have been a subscriber. I live in Chandler AZ (Pheonix area). Since I live in a valley i'm pretty sure its called hills and valleys not hips and valley. Some girls might not like that lol. Here it's Mountains and valley lol. Thanks for the great vid. I'm a fan of Ricky Tims too. I subscribe to The Quilt Show too.

Thanks, Sheila!! Is this a quilt you would try to make?

Not sure. I'm a pretty traditional quilter; but, I'm picturing the curved blocks cut diagonally as I might for a string quilt. Sashing between the blocks to give the eyes a place to rest...hmmmm...

That would be a pretty cool take on this quilt!

Great video to learn wave quilting. Respect the quarter inch while using no pins?🙄 on waves, very brave. I will try this but will be using 📌

    Rob-
When you were sewing your 3rd curve piece onto your pieced block, I noticed that you placed that 3rd piece on bottom with done on top and ran it thru the machine. Wouldn't it be easier to add it to the top or do you have a reason for adding it on bottom?
Love the quilt! There is so much free-thinking potential behind it!

Great Question, and if I understand correctly, it was so that the machine started on the 2" straight cut to help with the alignment, and therefor the bulk of the rest of the piecing was laying out of the machine. I am a bit of a wild bull at the machine, so after years of piecing, my eye looks at the edges of the fabric at the edge of the foot (or what you use for alignment and measuring) so I am only looking at the the edges. Your idea makes perfect sense cause you probably like the "biggest piece" on your feed dogs.... always a good idea.
