    After owning Kawasaki Brute Force 750'S, I purchased a 2021 Yamaha Kodiak 700 SE in Covert Green last year. Compared to the Brute and the Grizzly, this unit is a slightly smaller package that is a bit more nimble on the trails. Plus the engine is tuned for more low end where the Grizzly is more middle top end. The ride is also more comfortable compared to the Brute. I expect this to be as reliable as the Brute. Hard to beat Japanese made atv's. These are hard to find. I happened to be at a dealership when I was told one of these were going to ship in a couple of month's so I went ahead and put down a deposit. No regrets.

      Nice. You’ll love the kodiak. I bought the kodiak for the lower end torque too, and put it to the test. It’s definitely an awesome workhorse! Pulls trailers like nothing! Used it on the trails a few times and it performs well. Kept up with my cousins CFmoto 1000 and like you said kodiaks are very nimble. For ATV’s you can’t beat the quality of Yamaha and Hondas. Only reason to get away from them is if you really wanted a 1000 cc atv. Anyways, congrats to your kodiak! Happy trails!

      The engine isn't tuned for more low end. The CVT has heavier weights in it. The engine tuning is exactly the same. A simple swap out of the roller weights in the CVT and you can make the Kodiak perform better than the grizzly due to it being slightly lighter.

    Great video. I just subbed and knew right away you’re here in Minnesota lol. I’ve been researching for months on ATV’s…I keep going back and forth between the Grizzly and Kodiak but am leaning more to the Kodiak EPS SE…I like that it’s a little narrower for where I would mostly ride it in northern Minnesota as some of the areas get pretty tight and also like the lower end torque for hauling and pulling stuff at our cabin.

    • @WildUrbanAdventures
      @WildUrbanAdventures  Рік тому

      Excellent choice on the Kodiak. Same engine for both, but kodiak tuned for the lower end torque. I used my kodiak for ice fishing hauling my trailer full of ice gear and it handles very well in deep snow. I do get it stuck, but the low end gear helps to haul the heavy load and dig myself out when I hit deep snow drifts. Thanks for the sub! Have a great day!

    Bolt your rod rack flat on the back rack, you can put your rods in it and use it as a storage box. One day you might need to bail and that box like that could get in your way 🤔

    Would love a long term update now that youve had this for a year! This exact unit is on sale at my local dealer and Im really considering it. Hearing how its held up, what you like, what you dont like would be much appreciated. Thanks man.

    • @WildUrbanAdventures

      Hello, it’s been a great machine! Only thing I had issues with was the oem battery. It stopped keeping charge, so I had to replace the battery. I use it mostly for ice fishing, and some trails, so had to get new battery so I wouldn’t be stranded. Other than that it’s been a great machine. One thing I would love to upgrade are the tires, but going to wear the originals out before investing into new better tires. These are just standard tires that comes on ATV’s and have a lot of rolls and I can feel the rear end kick out when going around corners. If you find this exact machine and it on sale, grab it! They will sell fast! I bought mine when there was a shortage and paid more for mine.
      You really can’t go wrong with any Yamaha and Honda ATV’s. I had a Honda rancher before too, and that thing was dependable too.

    • @garrettm949
      @garrettm949 7 місяців тому

      @@WildUrbanAdventures I initially went into the dealer looking for a rancher or foreman (mostly for utility work and plowing) and I have been set on Hondas, until I saw this Kodiak 700 SE for $9300 (before down fees). It’s cheaper than a rubicon, comes with a winch, more power, better wheels, etc. after looking into them people love these Kodiaks/grizzly’s. Unlike a rancher, I think I’d actually trail ride this thing. We have a 95 Yamaha Wolverine on our ranch now and it’s on its last leg, but previous owner hasn’t changed the oil in prob 20 years so it’s amazing it still runs.
      Do you recall what your fees were when you got yours? Dealer wants $200 in docs, $650 in setup and I think $550 in freight.
      Finally, how are the plastics holding up? I’m a sucker for blacked out things (cars, trucks, etc) so this is probably the best color I’ve ever seen (I do love the 2021 SE green) but I wonder how it’ll do long term. It’s a satin black so I’d think it’d show a lot of trail damage and also getting on/off the bike but I figured I’d ask someone that has the identical unit. Thanks again.

    • @WildUrbanAdventures
      @WildUrbanAdventures  7 місяців тому

      @@garrettm949 yeah you’ll get more for your money with a Yamaha. Plus you’ll get differential locker on the kodiak compared to the rubicon. I don’t think the rubicon comes with differential lockers. And believe me, the locker is nice to have. It helped me out of deep snow last season for ice fishing, and I was pulling a 5x8 trailer thru 1-2’ of snow drifts.
      As for fees, I do not recall but looks similar. Unfortunately we can’t get away from those fees, I think it’s ridiculous.
      For the plastic, they still look new. Only a few scratches from me wearing ice cleats and not lifting my legs high enough, but other than that, no fading or minor scratches like the Honda plastics. It’s a glass finish to the Yamaha so it don’t look like the Honda plastics.

      Thanks! Yeah they’re nice machines. Haven’t had any issues with it so far besides the battery died on me while ice fishing. Had it for a year already and doesn’t help with single digit temps with wind chills in the negative. Gonna swap battery out for a higher crank amp lithium battery or something better suited for the cold. Anyways hope you get the 2023!

    Very good review, my brother is picking his 23 Yamaha Kodiak 700 SE SP in the next two weeks. He also drove Honda's the under powered Rancher 420 for a guy thats over six feet tall and over 200 pounds, did'nt understand why he bought it.
    I've have the 2022 Polaris Sportsman 570 Trail Edition 1500 kilometers and 120 hours flawless so far and no issues. Just changed out the drive belt to see how it is done and if I can do it in the field if necessary. I'm keeping that one as my spare and break in a new one again. Has some enginerring cons the CVT exhaust location and the gear selector but other than that its a fantastic to drive. I do agree the Japanese brands are exceptional for reliablity, however I believe if you maintain any atv and don't beat the crap out of it will last a very long time.
    Q. how are the stock Maxxis tires doing for you in the snow?

    • @dicktrickle858
      @dicktrickle858 11 місяців тому

      I'm between a 570 trail and Kodiak eps. The 570 looks like a nice quad to own and I bet they ride amazing. Suspension reliability is the only thing holding me back

  • @dankruger2890

    Polaris has come along ways in quality. Added hp and tq, One brake lever, auto 4x4 and very comfortable ride. But Nothing beats the Japanese Quads for long, long term reliability. Just bought the wife a 23' 450 eps Polaris for $7,699.00 for the money and how much she rides. (500 miles a year). you can't beat the deal. For her, color and looks really matter(sure whatever you want hun). For me, i am looking at the Kodiak 700 eps

    • @WildUrbanAdventures
      @WildUrbanAdventures  Рік тому

      I agree. Polaris has gotten better, but I think most their engineering went into their SXS’s. Their RAZR’s are sweet!!! Good call on making the wife happy, always gotta make sure they’re happy. Hehe….but you can’t go wrong with the kodiak 700. Even though same engine but tuned differently, If you want more top end, get the Grizzly. For low end get the Kodiak. I’m happy with the low end these kodiak gives, I’ve pulled stuff I thought wouldn’t budge! Amazing machine!

    Great looking quad and nice vid. Why did you choose the Kodiak over the Grizzly? I just purchased a 2022 Grizzly, coming from a 2018 Can am outlander 650 max xt. I find the power of the Grizzly more comparable to the old Polaris 570 I had.

      The salesman who is selling me my Kodiak chose the Kodiak over the Grizzly and has been selling atv's for over 30 years. He said the main thing that he didn't like about the Grizzly was the open brake system in the back where the Kodiak has a closed system.
