Nice review. I bought my 2020 Kodiak as a backup quad for my friends to use up at my ranch in the California mountains. I ride a 2021 Grizzly and while I love my Grizzly and it is noticeably more "high performance" feeling (brakes, suspension, width, etc.), I really dig the smaller size of the Kodiak. It's easier to ride when trailblazing (making new trails) and feels a tad more planted on off camber maneuvers on steep hills. "Nimble" is a good description. It's all subjective, but that's how it feels. I highly recommend both bikes but if you want to spend a little less money and have just as much fun, get the Kodiak. I do, however, recommend squaring off the tires and rims...I went with 26" all around...big improvement.
I just got the 2024 Yamaha Kodiak SE with power steering winch and plow my local dealer gave me a pretty good deal for the package and I finally decided to pull the trigger and go for it brand new and let me tell you I have owned a lot of ATVS over the years and Yamaha never seems to fail with quality and reliability! I compared this to my friend’s sportsman 500 HO and this Yamaha takes the cake! The ride on it is smoother and more controllable with the power steering, the low end power in low range makes you feel more confident about moving heavy objects out of the way that could be blocking the trails and the speed is good enough to keep up with some of the sportier stuff that’s out there. Definitely worth every penny you spend on it either you decide to keep it forever or just a little while Yamaha is a name brand that will never change! I can’t wait to start making videos of mine this summer!
I also bought the 2024 SE. I love the 2 tone tan and dark blue. My wife rides it mostly and we love it. I ride our older rancher, the power steering on the kodiak is really good as well.
@@tbone198786 I did notice the heat as well but once your moving it is not that bad, however if your in low gear and crawling around it does tend to get a little hot, for the compartment I did notice it gets warm in there also so I just keep non essential items in there like riding gloves, tow straps, and maybe a small tool kit I just use a trail box on the racks for anything else.
I've put 7300 kms on my 2020 kodiak 700 se, the only thing negative was the front brake pads delaminated,, otherwise it hasn't missed a beat.its 2" lifted and has 27" trail warriors, rear granny basket swell as front and rear beatbox black boar..and extra lights because the headlights suck... otherwise a 10 out of ten.
Im about to buy my first quad. A Grizz 700 on order. Cant wait for it to come in. My buddy got a Can Am SXS this year, it caught fire and burnt to the ground the 3rd time he had it out. Some electrical issue.
I have a 2016. right after I got it the valves started leaking and it would burn oil for the first start of the day and got it fixed and it has always been a pain with starting on a cold morning. it has 1000 miles on it now and started burning oil again but much worse this time. keep it in a 40x80 shop and will smoke it out in under a minute. I'm replacing it tomorrow with a new 2023!
I had a 2016 Grizzly SE 700, it had the Subaru 708 and it was good for the first year and a half, then it started smoking, dealt it right away and bought a Wolverine side by side. Now I am looking to trade it on a new Kodiak 700.
@@darrellmcquay9808 Not all of them were smokers, there is VIN range of numbers that were affected, mine was one of them. It was a great bike, I really enjoyed it.
just bought a new kodiac se 2023. came to $13,500. actually more than a base grizzly. So you got a DEAL. But, I know they last 20 yrs bc I own a 2003 kodiac 400 still running. Best quads on the planet.

My Kodiak with I think the Subaru assembled engine burned oil and I got rid of it while I could for a Canam 570 which is a complicated and hard to work on machine but a rotax engine is the best
@@TrailPass yeah I wish I had the extra it would be nice but o well lol I bought mine new back at the end of 2013 and I think I may have a lil over 300 miles
Man i wish i could get one for just 6,000$. Seems no ones selling theirs which i mean understandable but still too bad, really hard to justify getting a new one for the ~10,000+$ msrp its going for
It's also frustrating that yamaha has been raising the msrp year after year for the same machine without innovating. They're nice machines but still lagging behind polaris and canam in features
@@TrailPass Cool and also get something more powerful than a 570! But the yamaha 700 is not good for beginners but good for a 2nd atv once I get my 1st atv and I get used to it!
@@mouseclicksforu9724 both are great choices. We did a drag race on the channel with this and the red 570 outlander. Both have 48 hp but the Can-Am is faster and more aggressive. The yamaha is actually a great beginner machine because it feels to much smaller. Check out that video!
@@TrailPass Sure will! I am still saving up for an atv as well as a better car in the future too! Also that subaru outback is cool if only I had the salary for that car! Is the subaru outback better than a rav4? I know it is subjective to different people's opinions but what is your opinion?
@@mouseclicksforu9724 I would say a Rav4 is hard to beat for a first car but they are pretty expensive. I would look and see if you could find older highlanders, rav4s, crvs, or even a honda element (I think they're super cool). I would only buy a used subaru if it had great maintenance records and a manual transmission.
