Congratulations, you have just discovered the best artist of the moment, for her strenght, her talent, her music and her voice. l saw her live , she is the best. Her live show is the best show you can see. She is a fan of experimental music and uses her voice as an instrument in every song.
So excited to watch this! This is not so much Spanish pop but more influences of reggaeton, bachata, flamenco, and in her expanded version of this album, merengue.
She's even better live, one of our times best performer. Saw her show in Berlin last year, it was an absolutely unique experience. Check out the lyrics, it gives a new dimension to her art, deep with big feelings and sharp observations
The roller coaster you feel during the album is intentional. This album pretends to reflect how she feels with fame and also the ups and downs of covid times. From feeling playful, exposed, fun, to feel alone, sad or even sexual. You got the right point when you said that it was not using much instrumentals, as that’s also another characteristic of the album: minimalism. The singles she dropped before the full album came out were confusing for some, as she dropped La Fama first, a very calm but super cool Bachata (her version of bachata), but then she dropped Saoko, Chicken Teriyaki and Hentai. Chicken Teriyaki is a fun club song pretty “basic”, and Hentai sounds like Disney-Frank Sinatra vibes ballad, but is actually speaking about sex with sense of humor (this was also the intention. The contrast between melody and lyrics). As you can imagine, some people and haters started to say she was crazy. When the full album dropped, many people understood the point of the singles, since it’s a project to listen to it as a whole. She has a vision that some people don’t understand, but fortunately the majority gave the opportunity to hear the full project and loved it. I guess just people who don’t like to experiment won’t like this album. Some lyrics of the album are super beautiful and deep, and in other songs she gives more priority to the rhythm. This is also another intention of the album. She wants people to not judge any music genre or song. She loves every kind of music and likes to play with it. I’ve known so many artists thanks to her. Her references are always super interesting and varied. I saw her live and I ended up the show emotionally exhausted, she is really amazing and one of the best performers I’ve seen ♥️, and this album just blows my mind every time I hear it. Little instrumentals but so many details at the same time ✨♥️, incredible. Btw you will always see many people in the credits but she said she puts in credits to people who helped even in just one word of the song. And of course she had people with her in the album, but she is also a producer.
Rosalía mixes different genres! She’s not a pop artist shes everything, she’s very experimental and way better than bad bunny haha she has a music degree, she produces her own songs etc shes AMAZING, lots of people consider her a genius!!

Please, listen to her album “El Mal Querer” this album was her college thesis, she graduated with Honors from college and this project made her famous, she won 6 Latin Grammys and 1 Grammy, being one of the most awarded albums in Latin Grammys History, Rolling Stones magazine added her to their list “500 best albums of all times” and she’s also on “Best 50 conceptual albums of all times” hers being #10, it’s a narrative, she was inspired from an occitan novel from the 13th century, each song tells you the story of “Flamenca” a woman who’s in a toxic relationship and tells you the stages of it, (love, marriage, jealousy, confinement, resignation and empowerment) the songs are presented as chapters, hope you have time to give it a listen, it’s a MASTERPIECE✨

If you have enjoyed "MOTOMAMI" then you must react to her previous album "El Mal Querer" which is also experimental but being flamenco (a type if Spanish Folklore music) the main inspiration. Flamenco isna very unique and complex gnere and she made a fantastic job mixing it with urban sounds.
Seeing and hearing Rosí live has been one of the best experiences for me, both musically and on a human level. The way she talks to the crowd and engages with the world around her is a truly immersive experience. She is as exceptional an artist as she is a human being.

After listening to motomami from beginning to end like you I became a huge fan. The thing is it was like the tip of the iceberg with her going back on her older stuff and older performances. A true artist. I had to buy tickets and see her in concert. Not a disappointment. Her love concert was as creative as her album. Not only does her voice sound even better live but she’s a great dancer/performer total package
I remember hearing the album for the first time and thinking "what the hell is happening". But it just kind of lures you in and you can't stop listening. And it's SO creative! So much different things happening but it just works. Really different from El Mal Querer but equally stunning. (Love that she still incorporates some of the traditional spanish influence.) Btw, the ballads have quite beautiful lyrics so you might want to check some of the translations! The lyrics of Hentai combined with the sound is also really well thought out.
The lyrics are so GREAT too! Look for Jaime Altozano interview with Rosalia (one hour long) where she explain everything about the making of the record, truly a master class on production, musianship, etc. She said is the best interview she had. And with English subtitles.
Rosalia is such an incredible vocalist!! And tbh I think her first two albums are even better, but credit where it’s due, they all have vastly different sounds, she’s one of those artists that you can’t predict, constantly experimenting and evolving. MOTOMAMI is probably her most erratic and versatile, which I really respect but the other albums (especially her first one) truly showcase how incredible her voice is, they’re well worth a listen.
