mini explanation on flamenco:> Flamenco by itself has distinct types of song, such as Bulerias, Alegrias, Fandangos and many more. The essence of flamenco is Cante (Spanish: song or sing). They fall into three categories; Cante jondo(“Profound song” or “deep song”), Cante intermedio (“intermediate song,” also called Cante flamenco), and Cante chico (“light song”). These styles of Flamenco come with different purposes as well. While most Flamenco songs are used to express love, pain, and regret, it is also used to interpret or reinterpret stories. In which these styles would often be used for. After the mid 19th century, Flamenco song was usually accompanied by guitar music and a Palo seco (Spanish: “dry stick”, a stick that was beat on the floor to keep time) and a dancer performing a series of choreographed dance steps and improvised styles. As Flamenco is often played and sung in the streets of Spain, not much is needed to do so. Many Flamenco performers add a type of clapping, which is more common now.So much so, that people in Spain participate in performances as well. Flamenco is a complex art form incorporating poetry, singing (Cante), guitar playing (Toque), dance (Baile), polyrhythmic hand-clapping (Palmas) and finger snapping (Pitos). It often features a from of call and response known as “Jaleo,” a form of “hell raising,” involving hand clapping, foot stomping, and audiences’ encouraging shouts. As a lot of people from Spain know these aspects of Flamenco, it is common to hear audiences clapping and ad-lib in the form of “Jaleo”. rosalías sings flamenco, *new flamenco, bachata, and pop. she is very versatile! *as Flamenco grew in popularity back in Spain, artists started to mix different genres into Flamenco, such as Jazz and Opera. And now Flamenco artists have started infusing genres like Pop and Reggaeton, which created the musical genre known as New Flamenco, which is what i would classify the majority of El Mal Querer. Her more Flamenco type songs would be Bulerías(MOTOMAMI), Que No Salga La Luna(El Mal Querer), Juro Que( Single), El Redentor(Los Ángeles), Maldicíon(El Mal Querer), De Plata(Los Ángeles), Aunque Es De Noche(Los Ángeles) and Que Se Muere Que Se Muere(Los Ángeles). Your impressions on nana were totally correct. Its a song about conception, yes, but the conception of a stillborn child. Thats why it sounds eerie and supernatural. Shes grieving her child. On the beginning, the first lyrics are - "in the doors of heaven, shoes are sold to the kids that are barefeeted" Thats a reference to the tradition of sewing wool shoes for the babies when a mother was expecting them. But once they are born stillborn, the shoes are never worn. So they ascend to heaven barefeeted. So on my interpretation of it, its not a song about life. Its about death. And damn, it hits hard. Cant listen to this one without crying. Losing a child must be the most painful thing in the world. And Rosalia portrayed this emotion in a very beautiful and convincing way. You can feel the pain in her voice

Rosalia is definitely one of my favorite artists. And this is one of my favorite albums. No skips at all. They had a giant yard full of strange plants and trees. It was very Secret-Garden-esque. And all over the brick walls, there grew vines with passion fruit flowers on them. After I got into Rosalia I was recommended this album called "El Madrileño" by an artist called C. Tangana and I think that album is a perfect companion to this one. It's a lot lighter and more upbeat then El Mal Querer but it does a great job at mixing the Spanish and Flamenco roots of Tangana, who actually started his career as a rapper, with more urban and modern sounds and he brings together a lot of artists, from old school Spanish icons to other contemporary Spanish artists and really builds a whole project that just transpires his essence, experience and culture. The album just feels so close to his heart that you cannot help but feel it as well. Highly recommend you listen to it.

I would like that you guys who don't speak spanish read the lyrics of the songs too, especially when the album follows such a tragic and unique story like El Mal Querer does, I love the fact that you actually read “what every song is about" but I think is important to know the meaning behind it considering it's like a timeline on a toxic relationship and the perspective changes between the woman (Flamenca) and the man in some verses, oh and the videos! it would be nice for you to try to listen to her first record, los angeles, maybe its a difficult album for a reaction, because its very heavy (each song talks about different ways and experiencies of death). Its made of covers of a mixture of different traditional songs, many of them almost forgotten, with a punky/rock kind of production in the guitar but at the same way very traditional. It would be nice for you to check it with patience to see what rosalia can do with her voices, some of her most powerful vocal performances are in that record; but as i said, is a difficult album, even for people who are used to flamenco, because of it darkness and heaviness. Maybe it would be nice for you to check De Plata (DIrecto Sevilla) just her and a guitar, or her a capella performance of La Hija de Juan Simón for Vogue (stunning)

I feel whoever’s “translation” you used give a disservice to the album… It is way more powerful and violent. And don’t compare the albums… she literally takes another word in each of them… Los Angeles, her first album is heavy, is heartbreaking and extremely different. She doesn’t likes to stay in the same sound or emotions.
Your Spanish pronunciation was quite nice! Just a tip, Rs are rolled really strongly only when they're at the beginning (rosa, Rosalía, Rusia, etc.) Or when they're double rs (perro, arroz, etc.). In other cases, it's a softer sound (querer, cara, para, nombre, etc.)
Waooo!!!....Congratulations my friend Fern!! ...I want invite you to give us your opinion, like music lover, reacting to who is considered the best singer of the world...His name is Dimash Kudaibergen, a young singer who handle 7 octaves and 3 semitones of vocal range (An alien)...He has been singing since he was 5 years (he is 28 now) and he can sing in more than 15 languages...But if you decide to react to Dimash for the first time, please don't do it with his most recent songs ... I recommend that you go to the year 2017 and react to the song that made him a global idol ... I mean the performance he did of the famous French song called "SOS D'un Terrien en Détresse", when he participated in the famous Chinese reality show The Singer in that year 2017 ... With that performance Dimash earned the reputation of being the best singer on the planet, so I recommend you start with that one...You have to be prepared because you are likely to receive a flood of views, comments and new subscribers....And I have to give you a warning: Never react to The World Best videos, because they deceived him and treated him very badly.!...I hope to see you first reaction soon and if you don't mind, I'd like you to mention me as the person who recommended reacting to Dimash....Here you have the best high quality video of Dimash performing S.O.S. Live 2017.....ua-cam.com/video/bDX3FhmyNac/v-deo.html
I love you reactions!!! And I love your English too! ...could you react to The Best vocalist of the world: Dimash Kuddaibergen ...(S.O.S. is one ...and the other, a totally different song , GIVE ME YOUR LOVE)...I need to watch and listen your analysis..I like your way of appreciatte art in different styles. (Thanks!!!..I'm from Argentina)
In spanish nouns are masculine or feminine, so Flamenc-O is for masculine nouns and Flamenc-A for feminine ones, maybe you got confused because people was telling you about Flamenca de Román (the novel on which this album is based) and Flamenco as the music genre or culture.
Flamenco as you know stems from Romani culture, the Eastern or ‘Oriental’ (help me find a better word pls)influences could also be because of the origin of the romani peoples. They originate from India.
The video for piensa en tu mira would change your opinion it is definitely my favorite video of all of hers. So creative but like you the song is while good is not top of my list

@@FernStone it’s just such a good album i can’t 😫
@@xeenm11 honestly ,,, I do think I might like it more than MOTOMAMI ... but I keep not wanting to commit to it haha ! but this one has something really special about it , it feels more intimate.
@@FernStone did u read the lyricd alrdy? the hole album is about an abusive relationship and it’s rlly interesting
You should really check out Los Angeles as well.
React to Los Angeles her first album 🥹🙏🏻
I feel whoever’s “translation” you used give a disservice to the album…
It is way more powerful and violent.
And don’t compare the albums… she literally takes another word in each of them… Los Angeles, her first album is heavy, is heartbreaking and extremely different.
She doesn’t likes to stay in the same sound or emotions.
oh fuck yeah i’m excited to watch this
6:17 love that part!!!
you seem like a joy to be around
Aww thank you so much !!!!
Your Spanish pronunciation was quite nice! Just a tip, Rs are rolled really strongly only when they're at the beginning (rosa, Rosalía, Rusia, etc.) Or when they're double rs (perro, arroz, etc.). In other cases, it's a softer sound (querer, cara, para, nombre, etc.)
me too sis me too
When can you do a reaction to Natalia Kills or Cruel Youth? I have been dying to watch your reaction xxx
💙💙💙
You should see the videos omggg
In spanish nouns are masculine or feminine, so Flamenc-O is for masculine nouns and Flamenc-A for feminine ones, maybe you got confused because people was telling you about Flamenca de Román (the novel on which this album is based) and Flamenco as the music genre or culture.
This is definitely why I got confused hahaha ! thank you !
Flamenco as you know stems from Romani culture, the Eastern or ‘Oriental’ (help me find a better word pls)influences could also be because of the origin of the romani peoples. They originate from India.
AAAMO EMQ reage aos clipes desse álbum por favor são incríveis

Too many "rrr". The correct sound is like the "r" like broken.
You shouls have checked the lyrics because you are missing so much context of the songs. Kinda sad but whatever
