    I look at people with worse acne than me and I never think, "ew. they look gross." They're just normal. Still cute, still whatever, just have acne, and yet, my own, less severe skin, is so ugly to me, and I feel like everyone pays so much attention to it, but I doubt they do.

      And people think we wear makeup because we're insecure, when some of us actually do, but some of us also do it for the artistic element of makeup. And so what if someone wears makeup because they're insecure it doesn't even matter ! F haters !!

    I have terrible acne and I wore makeup to a volleyball game and a bunch or girls made fun of me for wearing it, then if I don't wear it they'll tell me "wow your acne has gotten really bad, do you wash your face twice a day??" It hurts so bad they don't understand. I've tried so many topical treatments prescribed from my dermatologist, but none of them are working.

    i know that i found this video months after it was filmed but it really kind of made me cry. 1) because i relate to you SO SO SOOOO much i cannot begin to express it. and 2) because i feel that those of us who struggle with severe acne like this constantly have to defend ourselves and our skin, health habits/makeup habits and behaviors ect to everyone who decides to comment. theres no way to explain the frustration and insecurities that come with having your entire FACE be affected by something. there is no way to hide it, its unfortunately something people see every single day. taking comfort in the confidence that makeup provides is a savior for those of us who are struggling with severe skin problems. i seriously benefitted from the information you provided in this video and i am thankful that you had the courage to make it, I could not imagine how difficult that could be. thank you again, stay strong confident and BEAUTIFUL!

    I used to be in the same place that you are from the time I first started breaking out at age 11 until I was about 26 years old. I just want to say that your makeup application looks incredible! It's beautiful and doesn't look like a "cake face" at all! I truly did have a cake face and I got many of the same comments and it does hurt. I would urge anyone who struggles with acne to see a dermatologist as soon as possible. I never had anyone to tell me how to take care of my skin so I had to figure it out on my own. I now have clear skin, which I never thought was possible! It takes time, but you are so right that it's OK to wear makeup to cover up while you are working on your skin. Do what makes YOU feel good! There are many others out there who understand the struggle:) Thank You for this video, I am sure that you have helped so many people! Oh yeah, and now that I have clear skin, I still love wearing makeup!

      Great comment! I know this comment is old, but would you mind telling me how your dermatologist treated your acne? I am needing to make an appointment with one, sand am currently in the search for a good dermatologist who treats acne in my area. I have been dealing with acne from the time I started puberty, I'm now currently 22. It was bad, and all over with constant breakouts, but wasn't cystic. For about two years I finally got it under control and would maybe get one or two pimples a month (or none at all), which I was thrilled about! Strangers even started complimenting me on my skin! But then about 8 months ago I started getting massive permanent breakouts that I believe are cystic (due to how painful, and deep rooted it is, as well as how it looks) on my chin and neck that will not go away no matter what I do. The skin routine that I finally found that worked wonders for me for over two years, now does absolutely nothing. I have tried so many products with no luck (not all at once, but gradually so my skin would adjust and I could tell what specifically was working. It doesn't help that my skin is dry and sensitive either, as most acne focused products are too harsh and dry out my skin even more, causing additional reactive acne. I know a dermatologist is my next course of action, but my fear is them only suggesting an oral acne medication as treatment, as I would really like to stay away from that harsh of a treatment due to the side effects. Did you end up needing oral medication, or did you have any luck with topical prescription products? Thank you for giving me the hope that clear skin could be possible again!

      +Brittany I was never lucky enough to see a dermatologist. It just took a lot of trial and error on my part to see what worked for my skin. Honestly, my skin got so bad due to the fact that I didn't have the money to spend on quality products and to buy so many different ones to find out what worked for me. I hesitate to recommend products because what works for one person may not work- and could even irritate- someone else. Skin care is such an individual thing! That is why I think a dermatologist is the best bet, even though I never had the privilege. However, since you have dry skin, I would recommend a quality facial oil. Believe me, I thought at first that this would just make acne worse, especially since I have oily skin, but it really helps to balance oil levels. Sephora carries some really great ones. I wouldn't go cheap on this. You also need a cleanser that will purify your pores but not dry out your skin. A cleanser should be basic. I like Cera-V or Cetaphil, and also Fresh Soy Face Cleanser. Finally, add a treatment, but don't overdo it. I would say just use it at night or every other night. Oh, and moisturizer, of course. My main advice is to keep it simple until you have it under control. Don't fall for the claims of a miracle ingredient. I don't recommend using salicylic acid in your moisturizer. Just use that for your treatment. One brand that I have heard works wonders is La Roche Posay. I'm no expert by any means. I would love to know what your derm recommends! Good luck!

      +Brittany I went to a dermatologist and it made my face worse (not saying that will happen to you) but I have had bad acne and the only thing that has cleared up my face in the past 4 years was the Clearproof set by MaryKay. 100% you will see a difference in your face. I noticed a difference within 2 days (my face felt softer). My aunt sells it and I swear by it! nothing else has worked for me. it contains salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide which is great for acne. if you're interested in this just DM me on Instagram! its my first and last name (on UA-cam) and I will answer quickly. I highly recommend it!

    I came across your channel a couple weeks ago. I just want to tell you how brave you are for your willingness to put your naked face out there. I, too, struggle with acne, and it sucks, and it can be psychologically debilitating. You are beautiful, and I think your videos are helpful to all of us who struggle with the embarrassment that acne can cause us. I think it's also great because we can put faith and trust in your product reviews, tips, and techniques, because we know you legitimately suffer from the same issues that we other acne sufferers do. An updated brow routine is definitely on my list of videos to film, I do have an older brow routine video on my channel but my brow style has changed quite a bit since then. I love your videos! I been binge watching you for the past week or so lol. I love how positive you always are and in this video how confident you are with out makeup. People don’t realize that acne can really affect people’s self esteem especially since you can’t control it most of the time. My acne scars and I been on a roller coaster because one minute they’re okay and the next they stand out more than usual but I’m happy my skin is improving and I found products that work for me. Your videos helped me a lot with tips and tricks or product recommendations. Keep doing what you do 💜

    I also have very oily (yet dehydrated) skin and am very acne prone. I have to say that watching your videos has really given me more confidence to go without or with less makeup. I have struggled since I was about 10 years old with my skin and never thought there would be a time where I would have higher self esteem. Yet here I am, and that is in part to you and your videos. You absolutely shine, inside and out.

    Girl, i got 8 minutes into this video and just kept saying to myself that I completely resonate with you. I have struggled with acne since I was a pre-teen, and i'm now currently 26. In the last 4 years my acne became cystic and NOTHING worked. It was hormonal just like yours is, and unfortunately the only thing that worked for me was to start taking birth control. I had and still have scarring that looks very similar to yours, so believe me when I say I FEEL YA GIRL. I use to always feel bad for feeling the NEED to wear foundation to cover my scars, especially when all my friends could go bare faced in public no problem. Now I feel more confident and have grown comfortable with my imperfections. It's still rare that I'll go in public without some sort of coverage, but when I do, I try my best to just embrace it. You're a beautiful girl, don't let anyones opinions get you down. Just like you said, if it makes you feel more confident to wear foundation, then rock that shit! ;) It's nice to see someone else out there who struggles with the same thing that I did and sometimes still do!

    You have no idea how much I related to this video. I've had acne my entire life and if people aren't making comments about it, they're making comments about the makeup I put on to cover it up. This lead me to become extremely insecure with my skin. So much, that I can,t even run up to the convenient store without full coverage foundation. It's so great to see another young women like myself going through something so similar. I appreciate this video and I don't feel as lonely now in my situation. Thank you so so much.

    just wanted to drop by and say that you are beautiful both with and without makeup. i am 27 and have had moderate to severe acne (cystic and hormonal since i was about 20) for about 15 years now. your words in the intro to this video are so comforting and encouraging to me, because i would so love to be one of those carefree beauties who is totally comfortable living life makeup-free. and i have had comments before about how if i want my acne to go away i should just quit wearing makeup to give my skin a break, despite being told differently by dermatologists who treat me! anyway, all this to say, THANK YOU for the transparency and for sharing your beautiful self. it makes a difference for so many of us fellow sufferers to hear we are not alone :)

    Hey girl,
    Thanks for making this video. I don't think there are enough makeup videos on youtube that deal with problematic skin. I had mild to moderate acne. I'm 23 and my acne is due to internal factors. I cleaned up my diet (organic fruits/veggies, no sugar, no fast food, no dairy, etc), drink about 3 liters/ 1 gallon of water a day, consume lots of antioxidants/green tea. I also stopped using the prescription medicine that was given to me for my acne. I started to use vitamin E oil, tea tree oil, and started getting facials. My skin is now clear. I hope this information helps someone. I really believe that my acne was due to my unhealthy lifestyle/ the acne medication I was on for YEARS. I also believe water helps me SO much. Anyway, your face looks absolutely stunning, love this makeup look. Thanks!

    I haven't finished watching the video quite yet, but I just want to say that it is perfectly fine for you to not be comfortable going out in public without makeup on. Society is really harsh. My only wish is that you do it for yourself, wearing makeup that is. Wear makeup because you want to, not because society forces women to "look flawless". You are beautiful and this is something a lot of people struggle with. Thank you for sharing! I'll add on to this comment after the video if I have any other thoughts.
    After video comment: Overall great video girl. The only thing I would say is that it hurts my heart that you explained things about your brows, or skin texture so much. You are beautiful and shouldn't feel the need to explain any aspect of yourself. Don't let the haters get to you.

  • @alixxart
    @alixxart 8 років тому

    you are so beautiful! you never should feel ashamed to be without makeup because with or without problem skin you are still beautiful no matter what. i used to feel the same way when I had horrible acne back in high school and the beginning of college. back then i was so ashamed of my face I couldn't even make eye contact with people, so i understand all those horrible feelings that go along with having acne. but if i learned anything from that experience it's that you should never be embarrassed or feel ugly because everyone is important and special and skin is just that; only skin.
