A better way to say it is that you have to use them with a device with line out that it's not limited like a mobile device, a normal PC soundcard that it limited to 0db. use it with mixers that can send an audio signal more that 0db. if i used a phone i never get to lightup the red peak led. But if i used a mixer that can go over +14 db, i almost blown them away. Another thing that you didn't tried, is that when using the EON Connect app, the effect of the eqs and volume will not affect other speakers that are connected to the thru output. like every PA speaker, they are designed to sound the best with a sub when you play a sound that needs a deep base. I've seen bands that will play only on the highs and meds frequencies so these speakers will bring a better high quality sound for their performance.

+Aimee Rojas The bluetooth is strictly for tuning the speaker, and adjusting volume. All connections to the speaker must be done wired. Although I don't know what application you are using the speaker for, but if you want to do bluetooth connection for audio I would recommend looking into using a xlr to headphone jack converter cable and pluging that into a bluetooth receiver, such as the Belkin one.
hey I just got a pair of these and I was wondering if you have to connect your phone and speaker through Bluetooth every time to load EQ+. Or does the speaker internally remember the last EQ it was on every time you power it up and press the EQ button on the speaker. the app isn't connecting properly most of the time so it would be troublesome to have to connect through Bluetooth at every event. I really want to turn up the bass. I have Mackie thumps which don't have as clear vocals, but I noticed the lows are way more full when compared to the jbls out of the box. please let me know, I'm using these speakers this weekend. thanks
+Mike Holdridge you are correct. the speaker internally will remember the last eq setting you had loaded to it. just make sure the eq plus light is one and if its not on just push the button
+Michael Hernandez no clue. Shouldnt need a pin tho. Use the eon specific app it connects in the app not in the bluetooth menu on your phone. Hope that helps
hi pro. I have a problem with it. Why when I connect the power source. speakers emit cries. it as I was tuning the radio. do not connect any audio source. please help me. issue it was. thanks
+xuantuan21 interesting dont know what cries your describing. But if its like a hising nosie either your gains are already turned up when powering on. Or its just a dirty power source your plugging into. Dirty power can be solved with a good power conditioner. Which I dont use. Some venues give bad hissing but I just turn the music up over it.
Me and my buddy use these same exact speakers and we ended up blowing out one of the drivers on one of the speakers and sweet water which is the company that sells the JBL speakers are claiming it's from "abuse"which we only keep the master volume on the speakers half Way but we also have a really powerful DJ controller which is the Numark nsII the company is saying that the value of the repair is estimated around $350 which is pretty much half the value of the retail speaker which to be is complete bullshit to me for a repair but nonetheless I was wondering which way we should wire or connect the mixer into the speakers from now on so we will not blow out the speaker anymore once a gets back from being repaired? Please in need of some advice
+Drake Samano Sorry to hear that. My only advice is to look into the levels your gains are at. I will be making more DJ videos soon and one will be discussing proper gain and volume setup for powered speakers. In short here i would say. Make sure number one that when you are using the speaker that the clip light isn't blinking to much on the eon. next don't have the signal gain knob or the master knob on the back of the speaker turned all the way up 75% max. Mine are normally 50% on signal and 75% on master. Then lastly on your mixer don't push any signals above 3 DB preferably stay at 0 DB or lower. I would say best thing to do is start with your mixer playing music around 0 DB then turn the eon signal to 50% then turn the master up until the limit light is just barely blinking. That is the procedure I follow and it has work thus far. This is also what everyone in the DJ corporation I am apart of does as well. The person that told me these steps is the head of the corporation and he has been a DJ for 37 years now and he is also a JBL dealer. So i trust his knowledge. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
+Drake Samano strange, I blew up my 518s subwoofer by brutalizing it as a noob, I took it to JBl and they found the coil is destroyed, I thought they will rewire it and charge me, instead of that, they completely cut off the whole speaker and changed it for the brand new one - free of charge.
Ricky thx for nice video.I need your expertise if you please. Bought these speakers for tailgating.Suggested to daisy chain them together with XLR cable. Did that. Bought 1/4" input for iPod. All set powered up but I only get music from iPod no vocals. Any suggestions?
+emerson biggunzz is your 1/4" input for your iPod a stereo 1/4"? I really don't understand how you are hooking your iPod up to the JBL EON 615. I would recommend this xlr to 3.5 mm to do so. I don’t think plastic enclosures sound as good as plywood enclosures. Would you agree? Also small enclosures. If the weight wasn’t an issue, would you rather have plywood heavy enclosures vs plastic? Thanks.
They do sound good. Planing on buying a pair. Starting out as a DJ to. Have a other pair of Behringer 400 watts. If I buy this JBL pair it should sound better I hope. I could use Behringer speakers I have for back up for know. It sure takes a lot of time to save up on DJ stuff. Just Subscribed too.
Very good info about this speakers I just bought a few and a I have some questions hope someone can answer themthem1- how many Eon 615 can I link or do I need Y splinters Intend linking?2- can I use the same line from the lows or do I need two lines out of my mixer one for lows and one for meds? 3- what's the code # to sincronize with my cell?
+SONIDO EMBAJADOR It all depends how your subwoofer is ran. It it has full range through ports you can link it right out the sub to the eons. Your sub might have a high pass out as well in which its your opinion on linking the speakers. I personally have my mixer setup with an output for my subwoofers and a seperate on for my eons. That way I can control the volume of each independently. As for linking the speakers I have linked 4 in a row before never really needed much more sound then that. The app code is a weird one though I have never personally experienced this before and I use the app almost every week.
Now you said in your JBL PRX715XLF review that you don't recommend running the EON 615 with your 15" subs. What would you recommend for your tops when running your 15" subs?
+the man the myth great question. I would say safer around the 200 to 250 range. For a full sound coverage. You might be able to get by with 300 but if the venue is substantial then might be pushing it.
Thanks!... It would be good for a medium sized -large bar and such right? Such as here? with 200 people... www.trbimg.com/img-57056c6e/turbine/ct-second-city-1959-kitchen-bar-restaurant-photos/750/750x422
+the man the myth yeah it would. Are you looking to do mobile gigs at such bars? Cus honestly bars should install their own systems I have helped design a few bar sound systems before. And the company I work for has done plenty as well
No not really, just wanted to get an idea of what it would cover, while still loud, with base, and not sound low quality... since I am new, just wanted an idea.. I may want to do Gigs in an place that size that don't have their own systems tho..
Hi, theres a person selling the 610 version of these speakers but she said pin number is needed. Do you know what she means by that? I asked her but didnt replied
If you use them with subs I say 250 to 300 people. But anything over that you wanna look at prx. That's my sound preference which might be different than yours
Hey Rick i got 2 of these bad boy & loving them, I'm look for a sub to go with them are the eon sub any good ? & what is the setting you use on your eq, i play a lot of hiphop & caribbean music (soca) that have alotttttttt of Bass
+Denzil Ross I have a vudeo on the tune I am using for the speakers only without subs. I have one eon 518 sub. And then 2 prx 715 xlfs and 2 prx 618 xlfs. Personally 1 eon sub is not enough and 2 prx subs is too much. 2 eon 518 subs would be perfect. Or one prx prx 618xlf would sound great. I have not heard the new eon 618 subs yet. But specs make me think that 2 would sound great paired with the eons. Hope this helps
+Denzil Ross 1 jbl prx 718 xlf or 1 jbl prx 618 xlf would be the best competitor to those 2 subs. If your looking for a more punchy sub go with qsc. If your looking for deeper rumble bass go with jbl. Ev sub is kinda a hybrid not to much punch not to deep. I would either get the jbl prx or the qsc kw181. Both are great subs and highly recommended by pro as being the best in the business at this time. If you have the option go down to a guitar center and demo them. They should have the eon there and both those subs and the ev to listen to.
+MaplejuiceVideos yes. Just buy a xlr to 3.5 mm head phone jack cable and it will work prefectly for that. I do that a lot for family gatherings and grad parties to just provide music.
Hi Rick sorry for my bad english but i have a question for you.I bought a set of Jbl eon 612 speakers and after about 2 minutes at half volume they have a smell like glue.Is because is new?
+Jordan Maranzana 2 eons will work great for you as long as you use a decently loud sound card as well as you dont expect to plah in any hude venue halls. Only down side is they get kinda hot on the back but they keep kicking and havent let me down 2 years later now. I have used only 2 eons for parties before as well. I just really like bass so normally I add subs if space aloughs. Hope this helps
With all your JBL's. Can you give me your 3 levels of packages include all your lights. Also what speakers do you use for your ceremony's and what is the extra charge for the ceremony? please give me a breakdown of everything so I can have a better idea.
Hey man, i picked one of these speakers up for outdoor movies. Its really lacking in the base area. Even with the bluetooth EQ I feel it should have much more punch. Do you have any suggestions? A mixer?? Thanks in advance!
if you have already tried using the eq in the app and cranking the bass up to max on it. Other then that I would say see if there are any audio settings you can tweak with whatever is sending the signal to the speaker. maybe there is some sort of setting messed up there such as not set for full range output. if that all checks out a mixer might help, but you really shouldnt need a mixer to increase bass the eq in the app should be enough.
It's just a laptop with iTunes for video. I'll play with the settings on the speaker and app. Maybe I messed something up. Thanks for the quick reply!!
+Jeremiah Johnson the laptop might be the issue imore then likely the laptops sound card isnt able to produce a signal with enough strength for the speaker to be able to reproduce full range quality sound.
Hey man thanks for the review. Just wondering how quiet can these speakers get? Can they get quiet enough to not bother somebody in the room over? Also do you have any problems with hissing at low volumes? Is the sound quality at low volumes good? Thanks a lot.
+AuthenticatorMonkey The speakers can get really quiet when at home in the basement i typically have to keep the volume really low as to not disturb the people above in the living room. As for hissing that all has to do with your power supply. And that is true for most all speakers. I use a power conditioner to eliminate any hissing. While saying that I have just plugged it into an outlet without using the conditioner and i don't experience any hissing. JBL also has a nice stand by feature that if their is no signal going to the speaker it basically goes into a sleep mode turning off any hissing that could possible be there. Hope that helps.
I bought a set of these serveral days ago, my phone pickup, when I enter password 0000, or 1234, my phone stated can not pair wrong password, can you advice please
+mwdbadguy the eq I run on the app is at 14:27. If you need the exact numbers I can check them. As far as the signal coming from my mixer that is flat.
+ricky weber thanks Ricky, yes if you can put the numbers in that would be great. I matched what I thought iis the settings you showed. Much cleaner than if I tried to dial it in on my mixer. To expand on Ricky's review, I've used them 3 times, and love them. they have replaced my old analog system for anything 200 people and below....if you are expecting the same sound as an 18" sub, no you will not get that but if you want clear sound with enough kick these will do, and will pay for themselves in a couple of gigs...word of advice buy the covers, they look sharp and will kept the speakers scratch free.
+mwdbadguy I will post the exact numbers soon I keep forgetting to check them when I get my eons out. I can only check the eq if the speaker is on and connected. Kinda a bummer with the app.
+voytek3055 I will post the exact numbers soon I keep forgetting to check them when I get my eons out. I can only check the eq if the speaker is on and connected. Kinda a bummer with the app.
You don't have to have your phone app all the time. The speakers save the last eq you put on them so you really don't need to connect it unless you want to change the eq.

You can do with one band what you did with 4 or 5. By cutting out the middle part instead of boosting everything else you should have better gain structure and more bands left over to make changes to adjust from room to room if necessary. As you may have heard before, cut before you boost. Also, that is a LOT of EQ for a speaker with a supposedly fairly flat response, but I haven't heard them so maybe they need a good bit. In my experience, a little EQ goes a long way. It would seem to me you're using EQ to "get more gain", but that's not what EQ is meant for and you still only get so much volume out of the amp before clipping.
+PhantomKrieger so to be honest i dont know about cutting before gain. The speakers do have a very flat response and the eq I did was just a personal thing i did because I like my speakers to have a certain sound. I didnt eq it to get more gain out of the speakers i make sure i never run my speakers passed the limit blinking as well. And then lastly eq is fairly new to me and I am learning a lot about it. I am adding a dbx driverack to my prx system soon and ill be experimenting around. I do like your idea to cut out the middle instead of boosting didnt really think of that.
I’ve been told by the dealer and many others NOT to plug a powered amplifier into the JBL EON speakers because they are POWERED (ACTIVE) speakers. You will BURN OUT the inside electronics if you follow this kid’s advice! Rick, you need to take this video off UA-cam and replace it with valid advice that won’t blow up people’s speakers!

What do you mean by connected to the back? If you mean bluetooth . Bluetooth is only for tuning not for streaming audio
DJ Rick Web all I want to do is plug my phone from rca to the back of the speaker and play music. But no vocals come through, why is this?
You hooked something up wrong. Defective cable or speaker is broken
DJ Rick Web oh oh Rick I think the guy is like da?mmmmmmm
5:19 what happen with your voice here?
+Marcos Carrieri hahaha combination of trying to lift quickly and trying to talk. My little school girl voice came out
haha , be careful next time , thanks for the review
This helped a ton! Should I leave my iTunes EQ on or off when using the speaker eq settings? (Using your settings)
I would turn it off.
Better to only have one source of eq.
How would you rate the jbl eon 612 speakers for a band for tops?
+Jonathan Keenan if pair with a sub or 2 it wouldnt be terrible for a small band setup. They would work really well for monitors
hey I just got a pair of these and I was wondering if you have to connect your phone and speaker through Bluetooth every time to load EQ+.
Dj Webb...Once I set up the sound on the app...and stored...do I have to connect with the app at every gig?...
Nope. The last preset you put on the eon is saved on it. You recall it by pressing the eq+ button
Thanks 🙏
You made a video on the settings before...can you send me the link?
Great review! Thanks
THANKS SO MUCH SIR 🎉
Great demo!
By any chance could you help with the bluetooth pin? I bought one used but can't access bluetooth connect with pin 0000 or 1234. Thanks!
+Michael Hernandez no clue. Shouldnt need a pin tho. Use the eon specific app it connects in the app not in the bluetooth menu on your phone. Hope that helps
Thanks I will try that..
Can you unplug the power cable and play on bluetooth at the same time? :) or do it need power all the time :)
+Mortensen foto needs power at all times. And doesnt accept bluetooth for the purpose of playing music. Bluetooth is for dsp features only
That is how I hook up my iPad to my speakers to play music for ceremonies at weddings.

hey soo if i load the tune do i need to do it every time i turn on speaker or will it just save?
It saves just got to push the eq+ button to turn it on and off
I got jbl eon610
I don’t think plastic enclosures sound as good as plywood enclosures. Would you agree? Also small enclosures. If the weight wasn’t an issue, would you rather have plywood heavy enclosures vs plastic? Thanks.
Lol. Watch my latest videos I dont even have these anymore. I use heavy srx tops now. So yes Birch cabinets over plastic
Very good info about this speakers
I just bought a few and a I have some questions hope someone can answer themthem1- how many Eon 615 can I link or do I need Y splinters Intend linking?2- can I use the same line from the lows or do I need two lines out of my mixer one for lows and one for meds?
+James Dietrich jbl prx 712. Or 710. Note my current go to setup is the 715 subs with the prx 712 tops.
Thanks
with two of and two of the JBL EON618S what kind of crowd you think it can handle? 200-300? when they really feeL THE MUSIC the base such?
No clue
Can You Connect A Aux Cord To It
Buy a aux to make xlr cable and you can connect it
i Do have from 350 to 500 people every time. Do you recommend them for me or should i look for another product??
Hope this helps
thanks dude,
I want to go with 1 18''sub for now, so i was looking at the ev elx118p or qsc kw181 but i also want to try & keep everything jbl
They should have the eon there and both those subs and the ev to listen to.
hi...have the speakers any hiss or are you still happy with them? Is there a good bass without subwoofer?
+Runnershigh75 no hissing unless connected to some dirty power. Good bass if tuned. I love bass so I always use subs.
so, could i just simply use this as a portable speaker for my iphone with an aux cable?
+MaplejuiceVideos yes. Just buy a xlr to 3.5 mm head phone jack cable and it will work prefectly for that. I do that a lot for family gatherings and grad parties to just provide music.
Thanks I really appreciate the response
Hi Rick sorry for my bad english but i have a question for you.I bought a set of Jbl eon 612 speakers and after about 2 minutes at half volume they have a smell like glue.Is because is new?
+clabescumarius yes. They will smell like that for a while until they get broke in
And this mean they have a problem?
+clabescumarius nope
Thank you for answear! :)
Hello
I 'm going to buy 2 jbl eon 615
They are really good ? For parties with up to 200 people sending her ?
Thank you
+Jordan Maranzana 2 eons will work great for you as long as you use a decently loud sound card as well as you dont expect to plah in any hude venue halls. Only down side is they get kinda hot on the back but they keep kicking and havent let me down 2 years later now. I have used only 2 eons for parties before as well. I just really like bass so normally I add subs if space aloughs. Hope this helps
+DJ Rick Web thank you for the answer
With all your JBL's. Can you give me your 3 levels of packages include all your lights. Also what speakers do you use for your ceremony's and what is the extra charge for the ceremony? please give me a breakdown of everything so I can have a better idea.
+James Dietrich private message me man.
So in this case, a mixer would or would not help?
+Jeremiah Johnson might help. Try messing with your laptop and the eq settings. if that doesn't work get a mixer and see if it works.
Bobcat productions is my other channel I was on the wrong account when I replied. lol
I bought a set of these serveral days ago, my phone pickup, when I enter password 0000, or 1234, my phone stated can not pair wrong password, can you advice please
+Hung Tran That's really weird at the time of the video and even now i have never had to use a password when out DJing with these speakers
Now I try the app, but keep crashing or just picking up 1 speaker instead of 2, I quit dude, thanks for your time .
Hi, so can I equalize it, add some delay and sing?, Tks.
+Dr. Mtz yes
Just picked up a pair of these, what are your eq settings?
+mwdbadguy the eq I run on the app is at 14:27. If you need the exact numbers I can check them. As far as the signal coming from my mixer that is flat.
+ricky weber would be great if you can post your eq settings numbers
How are the Low Cut settings?
? Same as any other speaker
If I'm running the ap through my phone, do I need to have the program on and running? Or can I close the ap and continue using my phone ?
You don't have to have your phone app all the time. The speakers save the last eq you put on them so you really don't need to connect it unless you want to change the eq.
I'm not able to stream music from my iphone to my new JBL eon 615 speaker via bluetooth. I need help
+Matthew Ukpere its npt designed to do that. Only tp tune the speaker not play music via bluetooth
hey Rick do u know how to connect 4 jbl 615 togheter?
+Aristeo Sanchez in terms off audio. Yes just use the thru port on the back and xlr link them together. Hope that answers your question
+Aristeo Sanchez in terms off audio. Yes just use the thru port on the back and xlr link them together. Hope that answers your question
How much watt amplifier u r using
Hey man, I am a club dj, but now Im trying to go mobile and get my own speakers, I need some advice from you man, is there a way I can get in cantact with u other than here ?
+FRITZ RICHARDS social media links below
+DJ Rick Web just added u on Snapchat
So can’t connect my Iphone directly with the speaker via Bluetooth?
+Brayan Mena correct
My gosh this video is old lol. I was looking for a review for this speaker and I ran into this very old video of yours. How times have changed lol. Anyways I’m trying to pick up a Bluetooth powered speaker to use for ceremonies and cocktail hr so I can just link up my iPad. What do you think yea or nea for the price of 300.
You can play audio via bluetooth. Bluetooth is just for eq not audio.
DJ Rick Web well that’s a wasted feature. You recommend anything in particular? I know I’ve seen you use your battery powered setup but I feel that’s a little out of my price range at this particular moment.
Just buy a bluetooth receiver for a speaker if that's the route you want to go
Ric do you go from pr x xlf18 then jump into eo n 615
+Brenda Hettiger ?
Can u stream music to this speaker ????
Via bluetooth? No. Bluetooth is only for audio tuning.
watts of real rms power ?
500
@@DJRickWeb You sure DJ rick? cause on the website it says 1000
That's peak power. That would be obsured if the eon had 1000watt rms
hey I have 2 eon618s and a eon615 I never know that there was a app for it on until I saw your video. So I followed the instruction to set my eon615. So I have been searching the wed to see how to do the eon618s conton find nothing on it. can you do one on EON618S OR TELL ME WHERE I CAN FIND A VIDEO ON IT. Keep up the good work
+Laro King check JBLs youtube channel.
This really helped me out
Was that just one speaker playing?
+lance keys yes
how can i EQ this right? help me please
+Braulio Villanueva go watch the tune video I did.
Have your facts together about the product in review or the comparison product as well. Light up your video surrounding. This video is way to dark. Good thing about your video, you did test the sound coming out of the speakers. Thumps up for that one. Ah! thanks for the explanation of the Bluetooth app. Overall, pretty good. Yes, I gave you a thumps up on this one.
hey what is the app called
La explicacion que sea tambien en español gracias
HOLA, SMALL EVENTS OF HEAVY METAL , that also work ? 200 PEOPLE ADJUSTED TO 80 PERCENT OF VOLUME RMS, SUB AND MID HI
Thanks, very good vidio.
+Raimundí y Algo Más... thanks for watching
U are wrong on having to use a mixer...there is a input switch on each of the two inputs to change input sensitivity from mic to line level.
You still need a mixer because its expecting a 0db line input. Phones and laptops are a -10db output.
@@DJRickWeb ..i thought u were refering to mic and guitars..i normally use a mixer..but sometimes just plug mic and guitar in the back directly but u have to push the mic line button to do this button
I like to see how far you've come in you DJ career in knowledge as well as gear and skill... keep it up Dj Rick Webb slash truck guy slash engineer 👍
how to connect to phone by bluetooth whats is the code
+efren hernandez Using the JBL EON app there shouldn't be any code you need to enter.
I just bought one of these and I can't find the app on android.
Try jbls website they should have a link on there
DJ Rick Web I did. It gives you a link to Google Play and when you click on it it says that URL does not exist on the server.
www.apkmonk.com/app/com.jbl.eonconnect/ download the apk for the app here and manually install it.
Thanks for the review, but it's an active speaker, so DON't connect a powered mixer to it!
Bob Oosterbaan I can’t believe he said powered mixer at 5:59!
So we don't or we can connect a powered mixer?
Do all JBL eon 615 bring bluetooth?
+Danny Dingo bluetooth dsp control yes
Thanks man, I found a DJ store and they have this model Eon 615 that im looking into but for some reason it has no bluetooth but the box says bluetooth on it, could it be a false product?
+Danny Dingo is it used? Bluetooth might not work anymore
No it's still brand new in the box
+Danny Dingo it will have bluetooth then
How to add 2 speaker with the same app
does anyone know what the Bluetooth password is? trying to connect to my phone and laptop but it needs a password and idk what it is
The speakers have amps so u DO NOT need a powered mixer
I'm so happy Im 500th like
Jbl 615 vs rcf 715 ???
Can I ask one thing?!?
For you the jbl eon 615 are at the same level of the rcf 715 mk4?! Or is there a high gap
High gap
So what is the best speaker ?
I got multiple videos on my choices
DJ Rick Do you prefer jbl or rcf??
Lol-How are the JBL's in comparison to those Harbingers you got in the background?
-just kidding, just happened to notice the logo
Is this a video on how to not EQ speakers? Because this is not how you EQ speakers.
+PhantomKrieger this is a review video if you want to know the tune i did watch that video.
+DJ Rick Web Yeah, I saw that one too. Still a poor way to EQ speakers. EQ anything, really.
+PhantomKrieger you care to elaborate?
What? There isnt any powered amps in this video.
tooop....
