      DJ Rick Web I know you use the VRX sub woofers would you move To Duel 18’s in the future now that you have your trailer or would you stick with the VRX. Also how hard does the VRX sub hit ? I remember from your subwoofer placement video you talking about how putting your subs together add’s six DB And I’m going speaker shopping soon and I can’t decide whether to do the dual 18 or to get two to four VRX subs. Thanks so much your videos are really helpful and entertaining

      I am going to be adding duals and line arrays. But still using vrx single 18s as well. Just depends on the gig. The vrx sub is one of the hardest hitting subs I know in its price range.

    Ever go to a concert and just watch what the sound managers are doing? I basically always try to sit within view of the stage performance and the sound managers! Truly geeking out on what they do and it motivates me to be even just the equipment guy to learn as much as possible! I worked security at Journal Pavillion and we usually were there hours before the gigs but just watching and listening to sound checks was so cool! Listening to all this I've actually understood it for once!
    I totally understand where your coming from when you have someone using equipment and pushing it too far. Recently had a blown speaker and it wasn't mine but I was still upset because this is how I make extra money...some day I'll be able to afford 1 JBL 715 or 815.
    Thanks for taking the time to break this down for us, I find it informative! Cheers-

    A limiter is a true safety, which in essence is just a compressor with a high ratio. Compressors at lower ratios lessen the range between quiets and louds but they don’t necessarily protect. Good vid

    Much respect for all you do. Your videos are the reason why I recently upgraded from a pair of old JRX 115 speakers powered by a Crown XLS 1500 amp to a pair of SRX 815's and the difference is night and day in both quality sound and volume output. I do have a question for you though. Maybe you can cover this in a future video. Iv'e noticed that with the SRX speakers, there are 2 line inputs in the back of each of them, and if I take both the left and right outputs of the mixer each with its own cable, and place them individually into each input of just one SRX speaker, the mono sound is louder and seems better than if I were to run both speakers in stereo using the left out put of the mixer into one single input of one speaker and the right output of the mixer into the other speaker. Which is better in your opinion when it comes to these speakers and using them for events? Daisy chaining each speaker using both left and right ouputs of the mixer into each speaker individually or running both on stereo using only one of the inputs for each speaker?

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  5 років тому +1

    Rcf has PUT much better tweeter with huge coil 4”, A fair test would be thru a mixer and NX45A, to be fair i would rather have my back still 19kg vs 28kg that 15” subwoofer weight. That sounded good

  • @dennisondenatalie
    @dennisondenatalie 5 років тому +2

    I mean..... the RCF doesn’t need presets. The RCF is a speaker. The JBL is a lot more complicated and there are different uses for each. Their test was decently fair, running each speaker out of the box. The RCF doesn’t need a DriveRack. It doesn’t need EQ, because it sounds good out of the box. The JBL needs tuning because it doesn’t sound good out of the box.

    I think that having to boost certain frequencies may add distortion to your signal if you are at peak output level of your speaker, would you agree? I would put the frequency response of the RCF more down to speaker cabinet design and natural characteristics of their drivers. I don't think they just slap a smiley face EQ on it just to make it sound the way it does.

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  5 років тому

      As long as the increase isnt drastic and the speaker isnt hitting limit it will be fine. And knowing that I raised the bass more than the highs means the sub amp will limit first which is the bigger of the two amps in the speaker.

    I have a question, that refer to the limiter of SRX815P.
    Is it possible to set an ideal ‘brick wall’ limitation?
    If you rise the gain, the volume also increases linear until reach the maximum level, without distorsion, overdrive.
    If you pump more input signal into the SRX, there is not more volume, no distorsion, no overdrive, but a crystal clear sound.
    Is it possible to set it by its own audio architect, without external high performance limiter unit?

    • @DJRickWeb
      @DJRickWeb  2 роки тому

      You can set a limiter, but with any limiter it will hit that wall and as you pump more and more input to it it will begin to distort. Just the nature of Sound. Once one source in the gain chain (dj controller, mixer, etc) starts adding to the sound (above 0 db output) it will start to distort

      Tour was a poor vague choice of word on my part. Was more referring to small scale band productions and install, which is waht this powered series was for. I have a local venue small concert hall that uses all srx and uses ethernet to all the speakers and connects them to there sound board to adjust all the parameters.

Thx and keep with good videos as allways i am following :)
