- On the heels of his first song release 'Distance', Wolfie Van Halen of 'Mammoth WVH' took a minute to reveal what life looks like in 2020, after the tragic loss of his father, the legendary Eddie Van Halen. In this interview, Wolfie discusses hobbies outside of music, his favorite meat and his favorite current rock band along with what touring looks like once the industry resumes and live shows are able to happen again around the world. Having sung and performed virtually every instrument on the new 'Mammoth WVH' album, what position will he hold in the live arena? The answers are in the video.
Wolf deserves every success. Nice guy, so grounded and humble and that is so refreshing in this day and age. A credit to his parents.
Was just thinking the same thing. Props to Valerie and Eddie.
Luvs wolfie! He will have a ton of success..so grounded!..his voice? I luv it!!
Wolf reminds me of Valerie and Eddie both....I wish him the best of luck with HIS music! I think Ed would want that too.
@Mike Barooshian Wolf manages himself. He's been taking care of Van Halen since the mid 2k's plus he runs EVH guitars.
Yeah...he looks like both of them!
He's a handsome man
I’m impressed, Wolfgang seems like a very well put together and kind person. That’s great!
I really appreciate Eddies love for Wolfie and Wolfie’s love of his Father . Such a wonderful human for us All to love 💗
Eddie will be missed 😢. So rare to have someone like him who was a super nice person. No arrogance... total humility 👌
Love This, Wolfman is humble and down to Earth, Refreshing to see someone his age with his head on straight! Can't wait to hear the Album!
Wolfie is a humble, well-spoken young man. Very likable kid! Great job Eddie and Val!
LOVE finally hearing Wolf do some interviews!!!! Such a grounded great natured kind guy!!!!
I'll buy everything Wolfie puts out.
I thought of Daughtry when I heard Distance..had no idea he could sing..I wish him the best as he carves his own musical path. Hes so talented!!
He has a great voice and I also had no idea he could sing and yes it sounded more alternative like Daughtry or Alter Bridge.
Wolfie has us all hooked already with his humbleness and reality.....
Wolfie is an awesome man. His Dad was my favorite! I miss Eddie. But I think Wolfie is my new favorite! R.I.P. Eddie
I can tell Wolfie's gonna be great! Such a humble & nice guy! Look forward to his music 🎸🤘💥💣
WOLF, we are all made up of random shapshots of our earliest days. Of the home videos I've seen of you and your dad and mom together when you were less than a year old, you watched your dad play guitar at home with importance and a real attention while still in diapers. It is clear that besides the love your dad gave you, your life will always be filled with playing music. It is the best gift your father could possibly hand down to you. I know you know all this, but it is still amazing. I know your dad's old guitar tech from the 90's, "Keegan", who you may not know, but Keegs got me up on stage before soundcheck to play your dad's rig. It's something I'll never forget. Through this tiny connection I have with you via that event, I write to you with my sincere condolences.
First time hearing this...wolfgang has an incredibly good voice!!
Wolf your father loved you and still does, you were blessed to have him
Wolf You Rock....Great Song!....Will miss your Dad forever! Dave In WV!
Who cares if the interviewer asked about Wolf’s hobbies, etc. It was only a very small, not uninteresting, part of a really cool interview. It was respectful and Wolf again comes across as a humble, likeable and incredibly talented guy. Great stuff!
I know!
Wolf seems really grounded. You'd think having a globe-trotting Dad would mean they were unstructured and resentful but the dude had an amazingly close relationship with Eddie. It's made him a really good person.
I loved hearing about wolf’s hobbies!!! I wish he would let us in a little more with what he’s like and what he enjoys doing but with what he’s going through it feels a little invasive to ask right now.
Good for the interviewer. It wasnt all about his did. We are learning about wolfie
What a sweet humble young man. Mom n Dad done good.♡♡♡
I see mom an dad in him! So down to earth...I can feel he has humble soul..wish all the best for for u wolfie!
Wolf is extremely talented. So impressive. I wish him all the best!
Wolfie is walking his path in the music industry, and is doing a superb job. Hes well mannered , cool, calm, sincere, and im sure his daddy is looking down on him smiling as he was here on earth. Go gettum baby!
Soo happy for Wolfe
Distance is terrific.
A special person
A special mom and dad
Wolfgang’s personality reminds me a lot of his father. He’s a bit shy, but very kind and thoughtful. He really nailed it with his first release: Distance
Priceless tribute.
Love the song and think it’s cool he released the video of it early. Amazing voice, amazing song. Will watch for the album.
God bless you wolf God bless you Ed and God bless the entire Van Halen family
No wonder why this knob is doing radio in Reno. LOVE Wolf! Damn!! Both songs are KILLER! Best of luck, Wolf. You are a freaking Star
What a classy leveled headed young man and so much talent. I wish him all the best.
Great to see Wolfgang going ahead with the music keep your head up kid god bless
You go woofie I love your singing you are great I know your dad was very proud of you. I am so sorry for your loss
This feels more like a Q&A than interview.. Question, another question, another question, just rapid fire.
looks like he's reading the questions. So unprofessional.
Love him! God Bless Wolfie!
Well done interview, Wolfgang, the best to you may you have massive support, we loved your dad.
May you experience more with your music, find peace within it. You are a kind and kindred spirit.
I loved Valerie from the get go On One day at a time. Her beauty,She and Eddie raised such a lovely son I just poured my eyes out when i read her words to him at the end,how they will be together one day...... I am so glad that she didn't hold back I say that since they were both remarried and she said what she felt in her ....They were in love and i don't think it was ever gone.....to her and her son May Eddie R.I.P>deepest condolences.....I love his song!
Nice kid, Eddie must of been so proud.
Mush HAVE been! Awful grammar.
Love Wolfie and his Voice , Talents and songwriting .This song is amazing . Love everything Wolfgang .
I feel kinda bad for Wolfgang, doing all these lame "interviews" with morning radio dorks, especially at this time. But it's still good to see and hear him, seems like such a genuinely nice person!
Wolfe you ROCK..YOUR DAD WOULD BE SO HAPPY FOR YOU. MOM IS BEING A MOM MYSELF. KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB YOU and YOUR BAND ARE DOING.
Kudos to you for the best use of a ten minute interview. Great quality questions for Wolfgang 🤘🏼
Great song! Great musician!
Your so talented Wolfgang, you and your music are amazing!
Can’t wait for Wolf’s career to take off. I mean that NAME. The legacy aaand the CRAZY TALENT of that family🤯. Go get’em Wolf👍. Great interview
Wolf is so talented ...he has his father's eyes ❤
Such a kind hearted dude...
Amazing song ..I am an Angel Mom my son died at age 14 ..I love this song and my other Angel Moms will too. Amazing song and Amazingly Humble Wolf Van Halen..Honored 💙

@@martymartin2894 Thank you so much.. this song is amazing 👏
Sorry for your loss
@@lynn1464 Thank you
Sorry for your loss. My condolences.
Wolf is so cool! I remember the day he was born and they announced Eddie & Val had a boy, Wolfgang!! I thought, that's so Rockin! He's gonna be bad ass! And well...here he is today kicking ass in the Rock world!! 🌠WVH!! 💿
MammothWVH🔊🎶🎶
Man I'm a pretty positive guy but Jesus the guy's father has just past away and he's asking "so what are you planning for thanksgiving? Who's coming around?" You can just see the discomfort in Wolf's face with that question. Terribly insensitive. And asking what his favourite meat is wtf is up with that. You have the son of the greatest guitarist of all time being open to all questions from his history that the community would love to hear...."so ah... you like pork, beef or chicken?" Outstanding.
I think I love WVH! What a humble dude. His music is amazing and will just be as impacting and fulfilling as his dad! He'll find his own niche to have own success in life. I'm so sorry that his dad passed away, but he seems so sweet, what a remarkable job his parents did with the privilege of raising him. Good luck WVH, may God bless you and your family in this tough time. Blessings
Wolfie you are so beautiful and talented. I love you big boy. RIP Eddie.
Wolfgang Distance you did your beautiful fad proud ! That song is so Awsome I love it I'm so glad and I'm sure so many other poeple are as well we all know your dad Eddie was. Or is a legend in his own grew up with Van Halen and your mom one day at a time that was my favorite show im so happy you are carrying on his legacy but with you own wonderful talent you are amazing musician just like your dad . you as well will be loved by so many your voice is beautiful so smooth you have been very blessed with your talent looking forward to hearing more of your music .
DISTANCE is The MOST ,, From the HEART & SOUL Song ,, Ive Heard ,, in FOREVER -
Wolfgang----Very likeable guy!!!!
Seen the thumbnail reminded me of Eddie. His smile is exactly like eds. We might see anymore eddies smile but we can see his sons.
KARNIVOOL!!!! YES!! Wolf really gets it........
Great song and video! I’m sure your Dad is smiling down on you!❤️
I love that Wolfie's so soft-spoken! Because of what happened to Eddie, I can't picture him ever doing drugs!
Wolf what a beautiful smile you have.Dad's smile hahaha Beautiful voice
Wow. Many good things went into the making of WVH.
Chickedn, pork or steak??? Are you kidding me? What the hell kind of questions are those? Wolf is being a good sport though.
Maybe he wanted to keep it light since Wolf's been doing a lot of press and probably stirring up a lot of feelings? Definitely out of left field though.
OH I have Eddie Van Halen's son on the line? Ask him what his favorite flavor of Kool Aid is!
You have to know the history behind that question.... It's a very cute story Ed tells in an interview along side of Wolfie. .
That's when he knew that Wolfie had prefect pitch..
@@lizaduke7488 what does he say in the interview
I knew Alex Van Halen in the late 70's he dated my buff Valerie Maddox. we worked at the Berwin Entertainment Complex where Van Halen had there office. It's so nice to think about those day I believe I dated M a Bret Cervontez or something like that. We did go to La Dome for drinks and dinner one night and to the taping of Saturday Night Live to watch Valerie Bertinelli. And I'm sk glad the wolfie is carrying on his Dads legacy. He wasn't even a thought. My bff did go to Eddie and Valerie's wedding. Said Nicolette Larsen was Valerie's maid of honor and Alex best man. wow how cool. RIP EDDIE YOU ARE SO VERY MUCH LOVED. And will always give me wonderful memories. oh I forgot to mention that I had 4 brain surgeries and an implant put in my head in 2018 and lost 70% of my memory. I've been playing guitar for 51 years. And learning songs I played on the 12 string when.i was 17. God love ya Wolfie. Your dad was the best guitarist I ever met and your uncle Alex,,,, well we'll just say in the 70's he was up for anything. IF YOUR SCARED SAY YOU'RE SCARED
Hope your memory returns, no one can predict that kind of thing..
Just checked out Wolfgang's band.
IDC who ya are...this man is ultra talented!!!
Rock&Roll is coming back.. Manmoth WVH.
Hope so
Wolf Gang Van Halen it's just like his dad very humbled very nice he needs and deserves the recognition that is fathered at I know we won't be able to play just like his father but he's not trying to be his father he's just trying to be himself and keep the Legacy going for his father which I admire him for that because there will never be another Eddie Van Halen ever no one will ever surpass his skills the way he played when he changed guitar but I admire Wolfgang Van Halen for carrying it on I know he's at a loss when is dad died and I feel very lost my father didn't play the guitar but my father meant a lot to me also and when I lost him I felt like I lost a part of me and I'm sure Wolfgang Van Halen felt the same way my prayers are with you Wolfgang Van Halen and I loved your dad he was a great guitarist I know I don't have another 50 years to play like him but I can live a hundred years and still not be as good as him no one ever will but I'm going to honor him by playing the guitar as long as I can and I'm going to do like Eddie Van Halen said I'm going to play until I die just too bad he died the way he did E.V.H forever r.i.p
So Wolfgang wrote and composed the songs on the album and then PLAYED ALL THE INSTRUMENTS and did all the VOCALS.....the last time I was impressed like this was when I found out that Prince was like 18 or 19 and did everything on his album including playing all the instruments and singing.....but PRINCE took it the another level by owning all his songs or catalog and he had complete control of his works as far as I know. Wolfie is a bad mamma jamma tho! R.I.P. EDDIE!!
Another legend being launched.
I love this interview as the others had the same generic questions over the last few days. This one its one of a breath of new information.
He's a gentlemen
He's a gentleman, not gentlemen, lol
I would love to ask him what is was like to play with his uncle Alex.
I have a feeling after hearing Distance, that album is going to have many hits on it!! WVH is a talented guy and I like his music he’s putting out so far!! 👍💕
I don't know the interviewer, but he is annoying. Wolfie is great though.
100%
Howard Sterns interview was much better with Wolf...Jesus this dude is NOT GOOD...
Right, @ 2:27 Wolf sat there thinking what the hell is this dude asking me about meat, then contined with how to cook it, kind of odd few questions, but the nice guy that Wolfgang is ...he just answered him with that great smile almost a laugh to himself....haha ...Love you Wolf! Love your new song....
Ya who is this interviewer..he suxxx...so dry
Thought so too. First big holidays coming up will be his first w/out his Dad..The questions were insensitive I thought
actual enjoyed the interview. it was all new topics and allowed me to know Wolf more. Thx Reno's Rock Station
I think Wolfgang Van Halen will be just like his father very famous he's very talented but look who taught him Eddie Van Halen so he should go very far with this music I can't wait to hear his music I bet it's just a good as his dad's way to go mr. Wolf Gang Van Halen
I love that he brought up Don Broco. One of my favorite bands. The guitarist Si Delaney reminds me a lot of EVH in some of their songs such as “I’m good” and “Fancy Dress”. When u listen to it, you’ll know what I mean.
Spring 2021! O yeah! 🎸😊🎶
He does look like his dad.
Jesus that solves a whole lot of questions.
@@clairvoyantamnesiac9770 it's not supposed to answer questions it's what's called an observation.
I call Wolfie, "Mr. All Cylinders."
Modern-day Prince is there an instrument that kid can't play? we are about to be enlightened buy some great music I cannot wait I don't remember the last time I wanted to rush out and buy an LP or a disc hell it's been so long I don't know how can you still buy LPS and CDs ? Lol.can I still go out and buy it at a music store I don't know but I'm going to find out.
Great song dude , not just throwing that out . Good luck !!!
The fact that Wolfgang got hate just cause he wasn’t Michael Anthony isn’t cool. Wolf seems like such like a down to earth dude.
I think WVH sounds more like the lead sing from Jars of Clay, than Daughtry. It's a great song...well done
Love ya Wolfie!
Inga here. I could be a reallly good friend to you! I loved your Daddie
What a great guy...
3:15 Green Screen fail
Awful interviewer, fake background, what the heck!? Howard Stern did a much better job!
Great interview thanks.
My neighbor has a wolf hybrid, it’s favorite meat is poultry.
Great to hear them talking of music, outside of the obvious suspects. The bond over mutual interests is a great break from all the over- speculation directed at the VH camp.
Being in remission from pancreatic cancer trust me my doctor told me if I'm to continue eating meat only 8 oz a month trust me what I was told hormone growths as well as antibiotics and sickness with the animals based on stress alone chemically throws off there system and whatever we consume we consume the animals biological gene's cancer is high I loss two brothers this yr brain cancer and liver cancer I feel guilty having survived I had a procedure called a distal pancreatectomy that left me one duct out of 4 the entire pancreas has and so I just have a tiny speck left I'm lucky the tumor was caught I was told 3 to 6 months had that grown one centimeter larger I would not be typing and giving people hope that a death sentence can be fought til you can't fight any longer ! I'm so happy Wolfgang is getting out here and staying busy it's best for him at this sad time in his life ! We all watched him grow up such a beautiful baby he was and seeing those home videos in song Distance was touching and that voicemail from pops that got me crying ! My life has been great toured with the best , George Clooney portrayed my cousin husband Captain Billy Tyne in the movie The Perfect Storm my brother Lance who past from liver cancer was a boxer Marvelous Marvin Hagler was always by his side the great Middleweight Champion of the world and it landed my brother on the old t.v. sitcom show called Spencer for Hire staring the late Robert Urich as well as my mom sang with Santana long before Carlos Santana had been know many of great times at our house! After his first record release he went out to California we loss touch life is strange like that all the people that helped him get to where he is today he never stood in touch with all the Birthday parties he was at in my home just blows me away! Once I was signed by Epic I got sick the ink hadn't even dried pancreatic cancer took my dream all that hard work man Gary Cherone we always had hired to warm my shows I never thought he'd make it and look he too sang with Van Halen life you just never know where it's going to lead from hanging in Melrose and all with Gary and his brother while his mom was so cool what a circle I'm thinking of writing a book from my day at VH1 the stories of being 16 yrs old touring with the late Stevie Ray Vaughn, singing with Aerosmith and Iggy Pop , Meatloaf, BB king my girls number one hit Voices Carry to my girl Tara Kemp with her number one hit Just want to hold you tight to hanging at MTV life is small world just because I didn't make my dream I had one hell of a ride ! Wolfgang enjoy your ride it goes by quickly... Blessings everyone! Rock On ! 🤘♥️🤘♥️
I totally understand the corruption that meat or animal based foods does to the human body and its chemical balance. I wasn't raised a vegan but I try so hard to be one because I have researched and tested the effects of a vegetarian diet. I call animal based food crazy food. But as soon as my life starts getting crazy or stress invades my space I lose discipline and take my frustrations out on a meat pie or a kfc meal. But hey, life can sometimes get crazy and we don't even wish for it to get crazy, something else must be doing the wishing for us, but just as well I'm a Christian and I am able to get back on my feet, and start all over again. Life is a strange journey don't you think? Hahaha 😄 I just think to myself, harden up battle on the war's not over yet, I guess the reality is that some days we'll get good luck and other days we won't, thats just the way it is, yes I agree effort can change our fortune too but that's the pain for gain game I suppose. As long as we don't forget our blessings that other people don't have, then we're still on the right track... I do hope that Wolfgang establishes a dynamic musical profile like his dad, he has a lot of supportive mentors and resources around him to achieve it, which other young musicians don't. I'm 53yrs old now, and I've always thought that a rock band with bass, drums, keyboards and a lead guitar is a killer combination, especially when the keyboards can create the background soundscape especially with futuristic effects, then the rock lead guitar and vocals can compliment and improvise on the sound. I've always hoped for a futuristic rock sound with a strong bass and drums, with a soaring lead guitar n vocals aiming for the heavens. Eddie had a futuristic rock guitar sound but it did need refining in some ways to make it more fluid and sophisticated in my opinion, other later guitarists have perfected his blueprints, but they need to focus more on melody rather than the meaningless show pony guitar acrobatics that we often see.
But yes Eddie is the last father of rock guitar after Clapton, Hendrix, Page and Santana, in my opinion that is. He had a futuristic rock guitar sound that no one else was playing, like artificial harmonics, whammy bar effects, shred-like guitar runs, the flanger sound effect and of course fretboard tapping...
@@amoh5 Refining? Well too bad its too late for it be changed. I dont see any evidence that you're experienced enough to judge Edwards' playing with any knowledge.
Thank you thank you thank you thank you for asking new questions and not being like Trunk and copying Stern
“What’re your hobbies, man?” Really? Was “What’s your favorite color?” taken?
If you were a tree would you walk to work or carry a lunch? Had to turn it off. SMH
Actually thought that was a good question.. Because I was curious. Loves his answer. Cas I'm a gamer also.
I’m just disappointed cause I live in Reno and I would hope our local guys could come up with better questions.
@@markpr73 yeah. I'm sure time is an issue.. I mean we could really ask him a ton of questions. Some will be more interesting to others.
Agreed. I’m sure there is some contingent of listeners that wants to know the answers to softball questions. I’m not one of them however.
Had to break away to see the Twelve Foot Ninja video.
HEY Jave! Was wandrin' through some VH videos, came across this one, and thought, I know that voice! Great interview man, we miss you out here!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wolf your awesome.
This interviewer/DJ doesn't have his finger on the pulse whatsoever...!!! Hard to watch..
this was so bad (DJ)
Hes definitely no Howard Stern.
I thought so to.
Ps5 and video games, yeah thats my bro 😍
Hope he comes to Australia
Wolfie, ever hear of Sons of Texas.... Riverbend ... BadAss rock and or roll !
Hello, love the way you put things together! Odd question I know but desperate as far as playing guitar in my future and hope I can gain some knowledge on your experience or anyone on CMC LRTI surgery on both my thumbs. There are at least 6 ways to go looks like on this surgery my doctor just told me he never plays guitar so do not know if I have this surgery if I will have issues playing guitar after healing does not know how much straight is needed. He did advise me prior at 1st meet that he had done other musicians but I requested if I could get their feedback and he said he never hears from them and I could not find anything online that was to good. He wants to do suture suspension arthroplasty on my thumbs I have looked online and surprised I could not find much if any on this by musicians who have gone through this please help can't imagine not playing again without the fear of more damage after healing when playing. I know this may not be the best place to reach out but love your teaching and thought you might have access to more info than a person like me would but again I am so surprised not more on this online. I don't expect to hear anything back but thought I give it a try
You might want to plug your RE20 in. You're on webcam audio.
Mammoth💓
So who will be your drummer when you do shows?
