This tells an unbelievable amount of story with being just a simple song. Even if you haven't played the game, you feel that love, loss, sadness, and happiness. It's unbearable.
I see a lot of people saying that To The Moon should be a Movie, and I agree with that. I just would like to see it as an animated movie, and not anime or cartoonish like. Like, Ghibli Studios like. I know they do an anime type-ish thing, but it doesn't seem like anime at the same time. To the Moon is a beautiful story, and if they did make a movie of it, I think that an animated movie would be the best way to show it's story.

I think the anime style as Wolf's rain has would capture the adventurous yet beautiful and deep feeling in the game marvelously! :) Sure you can get better effects with an animated movie but I think that characters can get pretty flat and therefore loose the true feeling.

He probably noticed River's stim behaviors and made a connection, and then feeling like he could give her something more than just music, he embodied this raw, human part of her in a beautiful work of art. Beautiful game, just a excellent example of how games truly are art. The story of this piece of art is so powerful and soul embedded, that it's beyond anyone's ability to control their emotions. Even after only seeing a few episodes of a play-through to this game, I feel a very personal connection to the characters so much so that I purchased the game so that I could relieve their lives and never forget their story.

And when they were changing it near the end, his brain made sure she would meet up on the moon, since she was one to keep a promise.
GUUA It was called For River in reality because he could not think up a better name for it and he did not remember why he wanted to go to the moon. In reality, it was a dream to express his love for River. In the alternate memories implanted, he wrote it basically as a song to get out his emotions of how happy he was to go to the moon, hence the name To the Moon. That was not for River. Each of the names was for one thing but not the other. That is why it is not both.

Though i knew that To The Moon was an excellent game from reviews and friends' recommendations, I had yet to play it when I first heard "For River". Despite this fact, it was moving to me, brought up memories of good times that I had experienced, dreams I had. The game itself sat in my Steam library for years, paid for but never played--until I came to hear "For River" again, here on this page, through an auto-play cycle. I was then suddenly compelled to learn the story behind this poignant piece of music--and what a story it was. To The Moon is truly an awe inspiring production, simple and powerful in its means. This composition is exemplary of this.

I'm a whovian here and I'm just going to say, when they introduced River into the game, I just started crying because in Doctor Who, the Doctor's human alias is John Smith, or as his close human friends called him, John. River and the Doctor were otp for me, but then things happened and then it could never be ;~;

Even though I'm an everyday listener of grindcore, goregrind, and other extremely heavy underground metal subgenres that habitually assault you with compositions that would be fitting as soundtracks for the coming apocalypse, go and call me a "pussy" if you will for this but, I can't help myself but tear up to beautiful nocturnes like this.
+Undying Unknown Heavy metal an classical music fans have the most in common in terms of musical apreciation and in terms of finding the deepest meaning in the simplest of notes, so you really are just showing the other side of heavy metal that most people simply paste over with stereotypes.
+Aaron Ryan While I most certainly agree with everything you've stated, it's debatable to say that goregrind music is founded on similar sentiments as classical music. Typically, as I've come to realize, the gorier you get, the less meaningful the music becomes.
For the most part, however, studies do indicate that metalheads and classical composers walk the same plane of emotion and complexity in their musical compositions. It's quite astounding to see how metal music and classical music have very similar song progressions and wavering time signatures. The sheer intricacy of a typical classical and metal piece indicates the (as you stated before) meaningfulness of each and every resplendent serenade and grungy auditory assault... for the most part.
Here's what Adrian North, a professor from Heriot-Watt University who conducted a study making comparisons between metal and classical music fans, had to say about the connection between the two music genres and their fans...
_"The general public has held a stereotype of heavy metal fans being suicidally depressed and a danger to themselves and society in general," explained Adrian North, the professor who led the study. "But they are quite delicate things."_
_Metal fans, like classical listeners, tend to be creative, gentle people, at ease with themselves. "We think the answer is that both types of music, classical and heavy metal, have something of the spiritual about them - they're very dramatic - a lot happens."_
