As a twin whose twin died, this line broke me. From the moment it was revealed why Johnny didn't remember River, the whole game broke me. ....And that's why it's one of my all-time favorite games.
The most tragic part of this story is that river died without john ever rembering the first day they met which I think is the most valuable moment of rivers life.

I know I'm late to the party but seeing this album cover is simple but telling. Both John and River are next to each other and complementary and it tells the story of the game. John is extroverted as his arms are outward. River is introverted, as her arms are crossed and inward. The moon is boundary, dividing their "worlds" but is also used as a joining point, where they will be in the end. It looks like a triangle, where John and River have their own side, their own "point" of view or human differences ("normal" vs Aspberger's). The moon (albeit provided by Rosalene and Neil) is providing that closure, both literally and figuratively. I think that's awesome.
If To The Moon was an anime movie, it would be one of the greatest and yet saddest movies of all time. I would cry like a little baby 2x, just like in the game.

To me, to the moon was a story. Not a game. About a man in his final moments wanting to live a moment that was happy and hopeful to make up for the sadness and denial and agony in his life. The two doctors made his wish come true but instead of deleting River from Johnny's memory they instead add her to his final moment of the moon. This story is beautiful, sad, confusing, and something I don't fully understand. To this day it leaves me thinking, why did Johnny really want to change his memory in his last moments. Why not just die with the happy thoughts of love, and of River. R. I. P. Johnny. You'll be with River again soon.
He wanted to go to the moon because, in his senility and old age, he was subconsciously remembering the promise he made to River as children. You know, people keep saying that this should be an anime or live action movie. But I would not mind if Dreamworks or Pixar took their spin on it. Especially after seeing Up, I think they could handle the touching/serious moments as well as the funny moments of this movie.

I finished playing To the moon last night and I can't find the words to describe the impact it has had on me. It broke my heart. So many painful details ... She lived all her life next to John trying to awaken a memory he had lost and ... in the end he really lost his life with River trying to reach her. They never met on the moon, at least not in reality. They didn't even meet on the tummy of the many bunnies she created in vain to make herself understood. I hope you all have the good fortune to meet your River or John and never get lost.
Hey guys, can I have some real talk? I need some help. So I'm in 11th grade and I have Asperger's, the same thing that River has, it basically makes it like you want to throw up every time you talk to someone you don't know, it just feels so uncomfortable. So I've known a girl for quite a while, about a year actually and I've always liked her, I've always hung out with her and been very kind to her, I feel like she's the one person that I know that I can actually talk to without feeling afraid or uncomfortable. So this last weekend was homecoming, I asked her to it and she said yes, so we went together and had a great time, then we went back to her house and sat on the couch and watched a movie, just me and her. so today on Monday I spent a good hour after school with her and I was too afraid to ask her out at the time, so I got home and texted her asking if she thought that I was crazy or stupid since she knew about my Asperger's syndrome, she said no and I sat and thought about it for a second and told her that I loved her and asked her out, and she said that she wanted to take things slow for now. Please someone help me, I don't understand these things, I've known her for quite a while and it's not like I haven't been spending time with her, she's the only person who actually talks to me. If you don't have any help, could you at least upvote this comment so that someone who does know can help?

This album has so much meaning towards it, that you do not even have to play the game to get the story. This game truly has one of the greatest stories ever to told in mankind. I like how a movie that's 2 hours is considered long, and a video game that's 4 hours is considered short. But then why on earth are movies the same or more expensive than video games? It ain't right.
Budget, type of medium, there are several reasons. You cannot compare games and movies as one is a set of events shown to the viewer, while the other is a set of events that is determined by the player. Therefore in order to get a full experience out of a game, it requires more time than a movie, as it can't just tell you things to be a good game, you need to figure it out.

The biggest sticking factor for entertainment types is medium. Some people are into non-interactive mediums like books and movies and others into interactive mediums like sports or gaming (or esports). I'll also have a hard time thinking that a newly released game would cost you the same as purchasing a movie ticket.

Just the music alone brings up strong feelings and memories of the game, seeing the two of them staring at the moon is a much bigger symbol than you would think before playing the game. I absolutely cannot wait for the sequel!

I don`t think that To the Moon`s story is objectively better than MGS. Of course it`s a beautiful game with great atmosphere, beautiful music and a kind of perfect story, but MGS is just a bit more in all ways.

We did, and made many friends who we don't see anymore, as they all went back to their respective countries and lives. We went to thailand, italy, america. Slowly, as can happen, we grew apart as our priorities changed and little damages in our lives tugged us apart. We don't talk anymore, and I have a daughter with my current partner and her one with hers. Life is a funny thing. Things come and go, love, friendships, family, but it always goes on, and you move on from it through pain and change, and in time you look back at your younger self, so full of hope and wonder, and perhaps you smile, or perhaps you cry. Life is, very often, about adapting to loss. Enjoy what you have, and cherish the things of youth, before gracefully surrendering what you must. Whatever happens, it's still a beautiful world.

Usually, the game will be made and the music will be developed later to be paired with it. This is one of those happy exceptions where the music can stand out apart from the game, and give whoever listens to it the same story and feelings that the game gives. Bravo, sirs. Bravo.

Kaam I am It’s such a beautiful scene, not to mention game. I bought (and beat) it yesterday. (I know, crazy to think about in 2018-) I cried when I played it again, realizing the acts are named after River’s quotes about the stars.
It is really worth it play through,an incredible adventure one of the best story of the decade,sadness,fear,hope,happiness incredibly presented with this supergreat soundtrack.

Happiness, saddness, sympathy, anger, tension, embarrassment (When they where trying to no avail to get him to want to be an astronaut) the game had me laughing hard at some of the things Niel said, the chemistry between Neil and Eva was genuine of 2 people who had been working in a job like this for years. I am not a person who crys at anything. But this is a game that gives more then just sadness. It gives a vast amount of emotions

It has been years since playing this game but finding the OST once again is like unearthing deeply repressed memories. The transition between Launch and the Ending version of To The Moon leaves me as an emotional puddle on the floor. I can still hear the heartbeat flatline. What an amazing game!
we all thought that john forgot why he wanted to go to the moon, actually he knew it in his deep mind: same song, two names, one is To The Moon, the other is For River. So he knew that he went To The Moon For River.
but river never knew that john remembered the first time they met. She died not knowing that john's love for her made him slightly remember it despite the years that passed by and all the beta blockers he took to erase a large portion of his childhood memories.
This would be a good idea but, from what i think i know key dosent animate they just write, but this is on the level of such titles, id like to see this animated way more than the moe garbage given to us every season .
sasukelgty Yes, Key doesn't animate. The production studios that have handled adaptations of their visual novels have been lolToei Animation, Kyoto Animation, and most recently, JC Staff. Funny that the OP wants it to be animated by probably what I'm assuming is KyoAni because you absolutely probably hate their distinct style, MOE. Of course, the original character design can prevent that from happening for the most part...

I know I'm late to the party but seeing this album cover is simple but telling. Both John and River are next to each other and complementary and it tells the story of the game. John is extroverted as his arms are outward. River is introverted, as her arms are crossed and inward. The moon is boundary, dividing their "worlds" but is also used as a joining point, where they will be in the end. It looks like a triangle, where John and River have their own side, their own "point" of view or human differences ("normal" vs Aspberger's). The moon (albeit provided by Rosalene and Neil) is providing that closure, both literally and figuratively. I think that's awesome.

To me, to the moon was a story. Not a game. About a man in his final moments wanting to live a moment that was happy and hopeful to make up for the sadness and denial and agony in his life. The two doctors made his wish come true but instead of deleting River from Johnny's memory they instead add her to his final moment of the moon.
This story is beautiful, sad, confusing, and something I don't fully understand. To this day it leaves me thinking, why did Johnny really want to change his memory in his last moments. Why not just die with the happy thoughts of love, and of River.

Maybe he just wanted to forget how much it hurt to lose her. Be a kid again for a moment before he wasnt anything anymore.

You know, people keep saying that this should be an anime or live action movie. But I would not mind if Dreamworks or Pixar took their spin on it. Especially after seeing Up, I think they could handle the touching/serious moments as well as the funny moments of this movie.
That would be great to see. They're both great animating companies, but I honestly prefer pixar. Plus the game had both touching moments and comedy.

Kinda. The music is just a wonderful aspect of the game, along with the amazing and sad storyline. I especially appreciated the music because I just personally enjoy it. I've had a strong connection with music for a long period of time. For 9 years, because I am 10 at the moment.
I finished playing To the moon last night and I can't find the words to describe the impact it has had on me. It broke my heart. So many painful details ... She lived all her life next to John trying to awaken a memory he had lost and ... in the end he really lost his life with River trying to reach her. They never met on the moon, at least not in reality. They didn't even meet on the tummy of the many bunnies she created in vain to make herself understood.

Hey guys, can I have some real talk? I need some help.
So I'm in 11th grade and I have Asperger's, the same thing that River has, it basically makes it like you want to throw up every time you talk to someone you don't know, it just feels so uncomfortable. So I've known a girl for quite a while, about a year actually and I've always liked her, I've always hung out with her and been very kind to her, I feel like she's the one person that I know that I can actually talk to without feeling afraid or uncomfortable. So this last weekend was homecoming, I asked her to it and she said yes, so we went together and had a great time, then we went back to her house and sat on the couch and watched a movie, just me and her. so today on Monday I spent a good hour after school with her and I was too afraid to ask her out at the time, so I got home and texted her asking if she thought that I was crazy or stupid since she knew about my Asperger's syndrome, she said no and I sat and thought about it for a second and told her that I loved her and asked her out, and she said that she wanted to take things slow for now.
Please someone help me, I don't understand these things, I've known her for quite a while and it's not like I haven't been spending time with her, she's the only person who actually talks to me. If you don't have any help, could you at least upvote this comment so that someone who does know can help?

I like how a movie that's 2 hours is considered long, and a video game that's 4 hours is considered short. But then why on earth are movies the same or more expensive than video games? It ain't right.
Budget, type of medium, there are several reasons. You cannot compare games and movies as one is a set of events shown to the viewer, while the other is a set of events that is determined by the player. Therefore in order to get a full experience out of a game, it requires more time than a movie, as it can't just tell you things to be a good game, you need to figure it out.

I'll also have a hard time thinking that a newly released game would cost you the same as purchasing a movie ticket.

Kaam I am It’s such a beautiful scene, not to mention game. I bought (and beat) it yesterday. (I know, crazy to think about in 2018-) I cried when I played it again, realizing the acts are named after River’s quotes about the stars.

Indigo199517 It didnt make me cry, but it made me feel such a vast range of emotions. Happiness, saddness, sympathy, anger, tension, embarrassment (When they where trying to no avail to get him to want to be an astronaut) the game had me laughing hard at some of the things Niel said, the chemistry between Neil and Eva was genuine of 2 people who had been working in a job like this for years. I am not a person who crys at anything. But this is a game that gives more then just sadness. It gives a vast amount of emotions

Well, not for me. It makes me unexplainably sad and unexplainably crying. I doubt I can study with a waterfall in my eyes :/ Somebody had to call the fire and rescue to save me in my house yesterday, because I was drowning.

It has been years since playing this game but finding the OST once again is like unearthing deeply repressed memories. The transition between Launch and the Ending version of To The Moon leaves me as an emotional puddle on the floor. I can still hear the heartbeat flatline. What an amazing game!

we all thought that john forgot why he wanted to go to the moon, actually he knew it in his deep mind: same song, two names, one is To The Moon, the other is For River. So he knew that he went To The Moon For River.
but river never knew that john remembered the first time they met. She died not knowing that john's love for her made him slightly remember it despite the years that passed by and all the beta blockers he took to erase a large portion of his childhood memories.
Make this into a 13/12 or 26/24 episode anime with this soundtrack and have it made by KEY and this would be on the level of clannad imo
This would be a good idea but, from what i think i know key dosent animate they just write, but this is on the level of such titles, id like to see this animated way more than the moe garbage given to us every season .
I so agree with you, it'd be a masterpiece, just as the game already is and it would bring this beautiful story also to the non-gaming people...

Yes, Key doesn't animate. The production studios that have handled adaptations of their visual novels have been lolToei Animation, Kyoto Animation, and most recently, JC Staff.
Funny that the OP wants it to be animated by probably what I'm assuming is KyoAni because you absolutely probably hate their distinct style, MOE. Of course, the original character design can prevent that from happening for the most part...

Launch is really great but I keep expecting the scale to keep building and then it doesn't. So I get disappointed. Every time.
Chills every single time I hear the first notes of that main melody. Truly one of the best video game sound tracks I have ever, ever heard. I know I'm gushing, but it is just that good and the game is just that moving.
