In Titanfall the jump kits are on Pilots' waists.
Jump kits allow double jumps and wall running.

Angled the ends of the nozzles so thrust goes through the center of mass would have improved usability massively
That would work well, but they'd have to choose one 'pilot' and stick with them as people tend to have different centers of mass, due to variations in how their mass is distributed. IE, some are more top or bottom heavy than others. Ian is probably the best candidate for the job, being the lightest, but Charles has a bit more time practicing. That said, given that Charles was injured, I'd stick with Ian, if he's willing to keep going with it.
That's why they aimed the jets away. Otherwise, the water would literally have gone straight through the center of mass (i.e. his legs and torso area), as he stated.
@@epicgeometro nope, that keeps the centre of thrust exactly the same, just makes it safer. angling them so the nozzle goes more backwards of the user is what makex is talking about

They want trust to go vertical, so you will also need to rotate whole system and in this case you will just fall backward, when there is no trust before the jump.

I get that you have to try and appeal to the young audience somehow but some of these edits are rather excessive. Kind of hard to watch personally if I’m honest.
Hacksmith became Brazilian for our enjoyment, truly a dedicated person.
Great proof of concept guys! I can see some ways to improve it if you ever come back to it though.
The nozzle flaps seemed to sometimes get caught in the blast which likely ate energy from the jump, not sure how much but it can't have helped, so a different solution would be needed.
The mounting point of the device also probably needs lowered too humans are already top heavy so lowering the device's mount would help with lowering the center of mass and make it less prone to flips. This would also move the nozzles further from the pilot since the angle they are on would have them be farther from the pilot's legs when mounted lower.
Other than looking into lighter materials for the whole thing I'm not sure what else to suggest right now. Either way it was a great project and a great start to something that could be taken quite far I think.

A common mistake most people make. PTFE tape is not a sealant. It’s a lubricant allowing you to screw the parts together tighter. You can buy a sealant impregnated version which can be used as sealant or do it the easy way and use thread locking compound.
You need to center it up or do four because the center of gravity will not push him down and it will go up more than down and forward
