I didn't think about the details here and the use of dynamic values so it's truly procedural. Just goes to show you, like code there's usually a lot more details to a "simple" project once you dig deeper. Great job, thank you!
the barbz geo node group was incredible! really loved how u controlled the spikiness of the barbz!
Another banger tutorial joey. Your tutorials have shown me a lot of methods that i didnt even know existed and then become short cuts i memorize. Im definitely a better artist for being subscribed. Keep it up!
You are blender genius. Thank you bro, now i have new channel to watch all the videos and become a pro
This was really informative, I feel better about nodes in the geometry editor thanks to your explanations. Thanks for sharing!
Really useful how you explain the nodes. Very educational
Thank you for this! You take you time and describe each step clearly. nice work
Awesome tutorial! This was my first ever time messing with Geo Nodes. End result looks great!
A great tutorial as always!!
Very helpful tutorial!
Dude, I'm starting to learn geometry nodes and this is intense! How do you even come up with this stuff?
Really cool!
Learned alot.
Thank you so much Joey! You help me aaaa lotttt!!
Very cool tutorial! Thank you! Thanks to you I made procedural barbed wire for my project) Studying geonodes and falling in love
GREAT THNKS A LOT super usseful!!!
beautiful!!!
Amazing thank you
I have a tip for those who noticed that when it's twisted too much, the cable is being flattened :
-set the radius of the cables to 0 so that it just becomes twisted lines
-after the curve to mesh, add a merge by distance
-then mesh to curve again
-curve to mesh again with profile curve : circle input with the radius of your choice
and that's it, not flattened anymore, maybe there's a better way to do this, but it's the best i've found
awesome men tks!
you are AMAIZING, how you do to remember all this staff? congratulation, genious
Thank you so much!!!
really helpful thank you ~~
this is hands down an amazing tutorial, i'm honestly impressed at how well explained everything is. thanks sm!!!!
also for anyone stuck around 20:00 and your barbzzz are either not showing up like in the video or ended with a lot of spikes/curves acting crazy, i advice u to check or tweak the scale of your barbs (THAT problem was supposed to be fixed by adding the modulo + boolean math + integer but i fixed whatever that was tweaking the scale) i'm using 3.2.2 btw
hope it helps :)
at that point the nodes are too confused already
thanks
Seriously impressive work dude!! One of the most comprehensive well designed geo-nodes tutorials I've seen! Super helpful thank you for making this
Hi Joey, great video, at 4:26 you say to have to shift + alt + LMB to preview the node, I have the node wrangler enabled but can't seem to make it work, weird. I'm using blender 3.1.2
can you make a tutorial on how to remap a palette texture into it's own UV?
Awesome tutorial and Tool can you put this up on blender marklet?
awesome tutorial man! is there any way to animate this along a curve, ive tried in different ways but cant
Hi! I hope its possible to use all the implemented functions in a new script.. I plan to create an automatic transformation which could work similar to your wire-calc. You know movies with blood demons or - another example - tentacle-winged demons and angels(DIABLO II: Tyrael and Baal in its half-human-form)? I will try a transformation from any mesh (human/animal..) to a bundle of partial twisting and/or splitting tentacles. Its to much work to set every curve manually. What do you think?
if your curve circle is acting weird (moving along all axes instead of one) use "vector math" node instead of "math" node!
20:10 to 20:11 its confuse cuz u can see other nodes links on instance points
Can you make make building amination with geo nodes? Like I want to make a minecraft stlye aminations with blender. But how do go about building things?
Like all of the blocks coming together to form a building?
@@JoeyCarlino yes! I cant find a single tutorial on it! Thank you for your time. 😊
Im using Blender 3.1 and Im new. Ive been following the tutorial and when I get into the Geomotry Nodes I end up with different solutions. I've slowed down the video and did a 1 to 1 movement and for some reason I get different solutions. Im not exactly too sure why. Ive tried doing it multiple times and in dfferent ways. I cant seem to get the wires next to other, they keep ending up in front of each other. As well as the barbed part doesnt get any thickness when I connect it to the orignal radius or add in math nodes.
Same!
Modulo is now split into two types, tried both (ended up using truncated module) but didn’t get the instances i wanted. Any tips? 19:53
I want to ask what if the collection node cannot be blocked
I bought this but I have a problem converting to mesh the barbs dont convert they just disappear, any notes?
20:13 what are the other two lines coming off instance points doing? I can't get it to the modulu spacing at all
did you figure this out? im stuck
you did a lot of thing off camera i am very confused on many parts
wer did u learn this
Amazing...is there a copy of this project on one of your sites if I don't want to try and recreate it?
Yes, there is a link in the description to my Gumroad shop, where you can find this as a product.
@@JoeyCarlino got it! thanks! How do the controls work if I want to 'grow' a wire ? Is it the subdivisions input?
I didn't add controls for a growing wire, but you could add a trim curve node, that's how I made the lightning grow in my video.
@@JoeyCarlino I'll check it out, thanks!
hey, just bought it on gumroad but im a beginner and i cant figure out how to bend it to a curve. with the curve modifier it only bends the wire, not the barbs
The geometry nodes one? You go into edit mode and put the curve or mesh wherever you want. It should work out of the box.
@@JoeyCarlino i didnt find a curve, but i managed to swap the geometry input node to another curve :) very nice asset
is there a way I can make wire text?
With the string to curves node
26:12
did 3.2 break this? i got "Spiky Ends" on repeat, I'm just getting a barb that's growing in size completely instead of just the ends & I'm at my wit's end -_-"
nvm i'm just sleepy lol
How to animate this wire?
Were you able to get it animated?
Press i to insert keyframes on the parameters you want to animate
@@JoeyCarlino Thanks for the quick reply and the video man! Just wondering, I'm trying to get the same movement effect as you showed in your bundle preview. I can create movement in the wire by animating the twist of the wire. Now I just need to move the barbs along the points to finish this off, but can't seem to find what node to animate. Do you know how I could do this?
I think I was moving the whole wire and not individual points. The way I set it up here, moving the points wouldn't be smooth. You can use a sample curve node to move instances along a curve but that's hard to explain in a comment and I haven't made a video about that yet
@@JoeyCarlino Thanks for the explanation, guess I've got some googling to do haha
OKAY i bought your thing from gumroad. now im having a million issues. can you make a video on how to actually use this stufff
There are, also this one is free
Bro I can't even access geometry nodes
Make sure you're using a newer version of blender, like 3.2
Nicki Minaj fans, it’s not what he means when he says BARBZ
Oh my god 😂😂😂 I’m not the one who thought about BARBZ the entire tutorial
Short feedback as a beginner: I think you are going to fast and when you hit short cut without visualisizing or explaining them is pretty hard to follow. This tutorial was a bit frustrating for me to keep up with you
If this is hard to follow, you could try my most recent geonode tutorials for beginners.
10:38 - please tell me how you put a point here to devide the node-line and put in both into end and start radius? I always have to make a new line...Thanks! =)
UPD: googled it. It's SHIFT+RightMouseClick then you have to cut the line...
