If you’re new to our channel, just a little introduction. We are Julie and Martin and in 2021 we sold our house and gave up our jobs, to live full time on a narrowboat. We bought our 2004 narrowboat Rhapsody in Blue in the September and have been living full time onboard ever since. We hadn’t intended on vlogging, but recorded videos for ourselves and family and it has escalated into the weekly vlogs you see today.

Fantastic overview of the show. The J F Boat Builder’s Stargazer was beautiful! What a perfect well deck with all that seating, and an ingenious design for the cross bed 👍👍

I too viewed all of the narrowboats at the show on Thursday and was very impressed by the quality of JF Boatbuilders, definitely my favourite. To be shown over the boat by the guys who actually built it and who know the intricate details gives a more informative and genuine fact finding experience.

They are all lovely Pam, we just both really loved Stargazer. And yes, always good to have a go first, we used to have boat holidays and just fell in love with being on the water, but it’s not for everyone! Thanks Pam xx

Love the tour and I agree on the best boat. That well deck! It was nice to see Wayne and "Waynetta". (Because of silly Shaun I struggle to remember her name is Amanda!) One thing about those lovely light colored ropes---they won't stay that way for very long. Pretty but not practical! I couldn't tell what was going on with the electric green boat but I love the color!

Guys many thanks for sharing, yes your choice was my choice from the start, it looked amazing, if I ever get the chance a show is were I'd look to buy, they over spec show boats, people have walked around them,they are not new, and if you are prepared for not waiting for finance the last day is the best day, they want to sell, and you can beat them into your deal because you can say 'I'll buy it now for £xxx, or I'll walk away, yes it looked expensive, but the asking price is not the selling price, great to see you about in these cold times, hope you are keeping well ❤ Nige.
Hi Nigel, the show boats are already bought and paid for, they allow the builder to show their boat before they take ownership. Our friend’s Oakhams boat was a show boat at Crick last year and they were handed their keys after the show finished. I think if you agree to allow your new boat to be displayed at a show you may get some extras thrown in. We loved looking at the new boats, gives lots of ideas. Thank you so much! xx

Hiya! Yes, it’s madness! The parking cost was ridiculous too, we didn’t realise paying in advance would make such a difference, £12 in advance, £17.95 on the day!!! How do they justify it all 🤷♀️ It was a good day though! xx

Hi Julie and Martin, we are new to your channel and absolutely LOVE your videos ❤ Do you have any recommendations for companies that hire boats for holidays in the summer? Happy narrow boating. Lucy and Rob x
Hi Lucy & Rob, so lovely to have you with us! Ooh there are lots of hire places, one in particular are very nice, we had a chance to look at their boats and they are beautiful. They are called Pea Green Boats, based at Whixall Marina on the short Peres arm of the Llangollen Canal, here’s their website link
peagreenboats.co.uk/ Because they are based at Whixhall Marina, when you pick the boat up you can just cruise to the end of the arm, ( 1 hour) then turn left and you will only have two locks and will be able to go straight through to Llangollen. You will go over Chirk Aqueduct, through Chirk Tunnel and over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and through to Llangollen basin and the Horseshoe Falls! It’s an amazing place! It does get busy in the summer, early or late summer is best. Otherwise, you have ABC Boat Hire, they have many locations, so lots to choose from, here’s their link ABC Boat Hire

Hey guys, with the cross bed, wouldn't you have to unmake the bed to fold it up in the mornings and then fold out and make it again at night? I know you wouldn't have to pull the sheets all the way off but, I would think you would need to pull everything off the fold up part so you could close it up. Thanks.
Yes, you would have to part unmake and make up at bedtime, but might be worth it so one person doesn’t have to sleep along the gunnels. Thanks Roger! xx
We do make it each night and unmade it of a morning , sheets rolled back to main mattress, base mattress into cupboard, move small fill in mattress at head. Slide main mattress back to gunnels, flip quilt over and tidy, takes less than 5 minutes. Really easy. Plus I don't get the gunnel spot 😂

We went to the show also and was very disappointed with the inland section. Very poor. Did you feel the same!
Hiya! Yes, there wasn’t much for the inland waterways, but we had been warned prior to going that a lot of the boat builders had pulled out. Apparently it’s very costly for them to take part, such a shame. We’re looking forward to the Crick boat show now at the end of May, hopefully see you there! 😃 xx
@@JulieandMartinonRIB yes David(cruising the cut) warned us it was very small but smaller than we thought! Wasn’t going to crick this year but we may change our minds as want to get a few things and yes say hi if we see you!👍
