Artis was a force. He was power and size. Had a good hook shot. He intimidated alot of players. Kareem had superior agility and coordination along with offensive skills. He just moved better. Seeing them the contrast is evident.
THE Guru..morning ...ARTIS and Kareem....both were great..different styles of play....Kareem was the better player....as you said ARTIS was a force..he truly was....
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was alot more better unleashing the skyhook at any point in the pant area around the basket than artis gilmore, it was a legendary match like wilt vs kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Kareem had some difficulties with Artis' strength when they played each other. Kareem was better than Artis but Artis was a tough matchup physically for Kareem. Artis was such a nice guy though and Kareem respected him. Kareem would usually outscore Artis in their head to head by 5-8 points but they would be close in rebounds and blocks. When Artis went to the Spurs they had more good games in the playoffs, with the Lakers winning each series.
Jabbar was much more of a natural scorer then Artis. Artis had much more of a physical presence then Kareem. Artis had great field goal percentage who didn’t shoot as much as Jabbar . . Kareem’s teams always prevailed , but Artis always gave jabbar a battle. Kareem so skilled. Artis so strong. Enjoyed there battles. Artis such a nice guy. If he had been little meaner. Geesh.
@@realg5276 good morning the Guru..in that series Kareem had to go against ARTIS for 6 games...then against Moses for 4 games...2 Hall of famers....as brilliant as Kareem was...that's tough....yes i expected the Lakers to lose that series to Philly and they did.....PEACE..wear your mask

Both were great.?....no trash talking.....2 men who had great for each other...?.basketball gods
Kareem hater Artis actually
@@TheIcemanthomas No he didn't. They were friends off the court
@Sean Rankin we are discussing on court. He hated playing against Artis because of how physical he was.
@@TheIcemanthomas Older Kareem outplayed Gilmore in playoffs 1983 WCF. Spurs fans disappointed.

Kareem was agitated. You could see it in the way he played.
the early part of the 1979-80 season (one season where Kareem didn't wear goggles)
Kareem also didnt wear the goggles in 78-79 season before he went back to goggles in 80-81
boy the refs did not like Artis
