The video exposes Kareem. Being bad at getting back on defense. You see Moses Malone getting mismatches while Kareem was not up court yet. Kareem having to get 2 helpers to stop Moses Malone sometimes. (Wilt never needed triple teams to stop Kareem and anyone else.) Kareem shot only 44% in this game. Moses Malone did a Wilt job on Kareem. (Wilt defended Kareem better than anyone else. Held Kareem to 46% while being past his prime.) Kareem shot 60% on Hakeem and 50 something on Cowens, Moses Malone, Parish, Walton, Ewing, Sampson and on and on. Kareem shot only 47% vs Nate Thurmond
Moses and Kareem were never actually very effective at guarding each other. Malone was really a stretch PF more so than a center. This pulled Kareem away from the basket more than he would like. Moses was 4 inches shorter and struggled to contest Kareem in isolation. Kareem often shot a high FG% against Malone. Malone is extremely underrated as one of the all time great. If you look at the 5 year window from the 1977-1978 season to the 1982-1983 seasons, Malone was probably the best player in the league.
All the talk of Jabbar being so great. As I wrote elsewhere, if all players were 7'2" he might not be a stand-out. Malone is right there with him. Jabbar's hook is something that should be emulated more often. When you have the reach, it should be in your arsenal.
Moses is killing Kareem here. I wonder what would've happened if he replaced Kareem in LA in the 80's, they could've possibly won more championships than what actually happened.
Kareem was 8 years older than Moses. Malone was at his absolute peak, while Kareem was 34. Moses was amazing player in that period, so it's expected for him to outplay past prime Jabbar.
@Bear Stein Nate Thurmond was a third Center Kareem had problems with. I was slightly critical of Kareem vs Cowens in defense. He didn't really like stepping out the paint to defend him.
@@70sfan I have seen Kareem get outworked and outmuscled too many times even when he was in his prime. Willis Reed, Dave Cowens and Bill Walton kicked his butt. I understand the sky-hook was a tremendous weapon but Kareem is NOT the best center of all time. Moses Malone had 8 years of professional basketball under his belt in this game and Kareem had 12. I just don't see Kareem working nearly as hard and I don't accept its because of age. Kareem didn't carry that team - Magic did - while Malone carried all of his teams.
@@70sfan Watch some video. You will be amazed to see Reed, Cowens, and Walton kicking Jabbars butt head to head just like Malone did in this video. In addition, Chamberalin and Thurmond outplayed Jabbar. It happened too many times for Jabbar to be ranked as high as he is all time. He did have the sky hook but these guys just plain outworked him. All of these guys I mentioned were beasts. The NBA was more physical back then and Jabbar got worn down. It wouldn't have happened to Jordan. Regarding Jabbar not having good teammates, he had Oscar Robertson! Bob Dandridge was one of the best small forwards in the game during the 70's and Lucius Allen was an excellent player also.
@@stevewatkins7144 Sorry, but if you try to tell me that I don't watch Kareem games, then I don't see any reason to debate with you further. I've seen more Kareem games from 1970s than probably anyone who uses YT.
Kareem out did Hakeem, Patrick Ewing head to head plus other legendary Centers. But Moses Malone was better rebounder than Kareem, Ewing, Shaq and more. Wilt was the best rebounder ever. But head to head to Kareem got rebounded and scored by Moses Malone. Kareem shot a higher FG% and more APG. Kareem was just short of 8 yrs older than Moses Malone. Kareem back in his Bucks days would have destoryed Malone almost all the time. But Moses Malone would have still out rebounded Kareem. Various centers could out rebound Kareem head to head. The hard thing was out scoring Kareem.
Bruh you need to check head to head stats in the playoffs between Moses and Kareem. Moses absolutely destroyed Kareem in the post season scoring and rebounding and in the Fo,Fo,Fo playoffs Moses dragged Kareems ass all over the floor. Out rebounded Kareem 70-32 that series and swept the Lakers in embarrassing fashion.
J k Wilt = 24.5 rpg in 47 mpg for the playoffs Russell = 24.9 rpg in 45 mpg for the playoffs Russell delivered the rebounds when they mattered, in less minutes, compared to Wilt Russell has Most rebounds in a quarter (19 in a nba finals game 7 quarter ) most rebounds in a half( 32) Highest rebound average in the finals ( 29.5) This is while guarding 1-5 sticking guards/forwards on the perimeter and switching/hedging on screens while chamberlain mostly sat around the basket (watch film of those games)

Kareem shot 60% on Hakeem and 50 something on Cowens, Moses Malone, Parish, Walton, Ewing, Sampson and on and on.
The title should be more like MALONE SPANKS JABBAR
Moses Malone the first Shaq
Moses, from 1978 to 1984, was the most dominant center since Wilt Chamberlain.
Not over Kareem.
Kareem was consistently fabulous more than a decade for sure. But from Moses' first MVP season in 1979 to 1984, he was most dominant.
@@6DoctorJ I'd take 1971-77 Kareem over peak Moses.
JUST DOMINATED KAREEM, LIKE A MAN VS A BOY!
IF YOU AINT GOT THE BALL YOU CAN'T SHOOT THE BALL.
All the talk of Jabbar being so great. As I wrote elsewhere, if all players were 7'2" he might not be a stand-out. Malone is right there with him. Jabbar's hook is something that should be emulated more often. When you have the reach, it should be in your arsenal.
Then why no other 7'2 player is even close to Jabbar?
@@70sfan That's a loaded question. It's like me asking why 4 is not an even number.
4 is an even number!
Il pivot che fu'.
Indovinate chi e'.?
Before the rockets had Hakeem olajuwon, they had Moses Malone.
Count the dribbles.
Gilmore had no problem against Moses, Kareem just too weak
Moses > Kareem
To be fair, Moses was at his absolute best while Kareem was past his prime.
Moses was the best center at this time but Kareem played a great game as well. He threw a few down.
was landsburger better than bill walton's son ? I think so
Great Pass! 5:17
Io lo dico,Malone.
An uninspired effort by Kareem. He’s better than this..
Well, Kareem wasn't the youngest player at this point and this is the first game of the season. Don't be too harsh ;)
@@70sfan Agreed he was on a strong decline.
Mark Sheppard ......Kareem was clearly outplayed and frustrated.
Alco Power he couldn’t guard Moses
@Bear Stein Nate Thurmond was a third Center Kareem had problems with.
I was slightly critical of Kareem vs Cowens in defense. He didn't really like stepping out the paint to defend him.
Malone was just tougher than Kareem. A lot of centers were.
Maybe, but Kareem was past his best here.
@@stevewatkins7144 Kareem dominated Reed, Cowens and Walton h2h, but he had clearly worse teams than them.
I can't see anything
Kareem out scored Hakeem and Moses Malone out scored Kareem.
Wrong game l thought to fast. I that it was 76ers when they swept the lakers.
Full game at ua-cam.com/video/d7YbQZ9CYTg/v-deo.html
Olajuwon embarrassed Kareem and eliminated his goggle wearing ass.
J k Wilt = 24.5 rpg in 47 mpg for the playoffs
Russell = 24.9 rpg in 45 mpg for the playoffs
Russell delivered the rebounds when they mattered, in less minutes, compared to Wilt
Russell has Most rebounds in a quarter (19 in a nba finals game 7 quarter ) most rebounds in a half( 32)
Highest rebound average in the finals ( 29.5)
This is while guarding 1-5 sticking guards/forwards on the perimeter and switching/hedging on screens while chamberlain mostly sat around the basket (watch film of those games)
This era is so trash..
High iq player moses vs a player with low iq but unworldly talent basically Hakeem vs David Robinson but in the 80s and it's no surprise Kareem was exposed dudes overrated
Are you implying that Kareem was low IQ player?
@@70sfan compared to Moses Malone it's obvious he low iq player
@@bobbyjoeyoung2becausesteph194 He's much better passer, better and smarter defender. He also aged far better than Moses, what's your argument here?
@@70sfan he low iq that why guys like bill Walton and Moses did way more with less talent so keep trying to argue but Kareem sucked
@@bobbyjoeyoung2becausesteph194 Everybody can have different opinion, even wrong ones so don't worry ;)
Kareem ain't guarding shaq that's all I kno
He was 34 years old in this clip. I'm sure he would be fine guarding Shaq in his prime.
Love Shaquille o'neal vs jabber, matchup, David Robinson vs jabber
Nonsense. Kareem played against Wilt aaaaaand held his own.
@@sdrice2007 wilt was very old 33years old years years 4 years past his prime, jabbar was in his prime, love to see early 1960s wilt vs young jabber, jabbar vs david Robinson, jabbar vs Shaquille o'neal, jabbar vs aris gilmore was a great matchup
