I could tell the difference immediately. The dynamic produces warmer vocals. The condenser has clearer vocals. (To be fair I just recently watched a video on the differences a couple days ago)
I'm a total noob when it comes to equipment, why does the SM7B clearly have more reverb on the mix? Is that a characteristic of the mic? Or did she accidently mixed it in a different way? Because it masks a lot of the imperfections and the flatness/sharpness of some notes, making it sound so much better than the AT2020, even though it clearly provides a clearer and more defined sound, it sounded much better than it should've had imo.
That is soooo helpful! Just what I was looking for! The first useful comparison I've ever seen! Thank you sooo much!!! Your voice is beautiful, and the AT2020 enhanced it even better than the shure, as it made the sound clearer! Thanks again!

This is great, you have excellent control, really pleasing to listen to you sing. ❤ Anyway, Can you do a setup for beginners? I’m an award winning vocalist, but I’ve never considered performing at home until recently. I’d love to know what are the essentials for setup to go with your desktop and for streaming on UA-cam, tiktok etc. I’ve always just been the voice, I’ve never really played around with mixers, or any other studio equipment, I’d love to get my own setup and make my home office a dual purpose studio ❤
Ok, so I actually recorded a few solo albums w/ one $80 condenser mic. Drums, guitar, bass, piano, and vocals. I used a small 2 port usb mixer as well and it all came out studio quality. The mic I used was a “MXL V67”. Green with gold mesh. Looks and sounds like a $1,000 mic, but it was on sale for $70. Now I use an “Audio Technica AT2020 P48 Cardioid Condenser. It was about $120. It’s a bit better for vocals and the other works best for instruments. I use both at once when recording drums or trying stereo surround type sounds. You don’t need to spend much on a mixer either. My first one is still my go to audio interface when doing solo stuff. It’s a “Presonus Auidiobox USB 96” that cost around $100 with software included. Otherwise I use a “Behringer Xenyx Q1202 USB” if I’m recording with other people and use Audacity for software because of how simple it is to use. That mixer was probably $150-200 and Audacity is free. You can get really amazing sounds with cheap gear. It’s all about how you set things up and the acoustics in the room. Hope that helped somewhat and good luck!
Oh, and for streaming I’d definitely choose the Audio Technica Condenser and the cheap Presonus USB audio interface and just use Audacity or the included software. Just get a pop filter too for like $20-30 and a nice cable. Someone at your local Samash, Guitar Center, or other music store should be able to help. P.S. if you will be streaming in a large room or somewhere with other people around/background noise, I would get a Dhnamic microphone instead of a condenser because condensers pick up all of the sounds instead of just what’s in front of the microphone.
@@LaceChaser well i always screw up with audacity.... welll i dont know maybe the version i got was awful. 😂 i prefer any DAW rather than audacity because it felt like touch move. it never reversible in audacity. 😁

Hi. My wife and I will be in the Philippines in a month or two and I would like to purchase the Shure SM7b microphone while we are there because it is much cheaper than in the USA. I was wondering if you could tell me where you got yours or recommend a good place to purchase it from? Thank you so much.
I know you mentioned Billie Eilish with the AT2020 Which is impressive but also your Headphones the Beyerdynamic DT 770 are the same one Adele uses in the studio. You even see them in her behind the scenes photos taken during the recording of [30]. I bought the LP so see the pics there too. Much success to you and your music career, you have a lovely voice.
You have such a beautiful voice and my set up looks almost similar. You should make a video just about the Apollo. That would be great. There are a few good videos about it on UA-cam.
The goxlr is by no means a good interface (talking about audio quality) the Apollo Twin (the one she uses in this video) is by far a better audio interface. The reason you use a cloud lifter is to get a clean audio signal. You will be fine without it if you use it to stream, record a podcast, gaming or make a UA-cam video, but for musicians it's very important to get the cleanest signal possible, that's why you'll find a cloudlifter in most studios with the sm7b. But you are right, for a streamer or your average content creator a cloudlifter is almost dumb to use because most of them don't need that quality anyways, and if they have a goxlr they definitely can use it without a cloudlifter
Actually the goxlr provides everything you need. Anything you'll need just by the software alone, and the interface with the voice changer is fantastic, the adjustments of a noise gate, editing your highs, mids, lows, frequency, and the ability to add more clarity and it has the extra 50DB the Shure SM7B needs. It has anything and everything that is recommended. Like WTF are you talking about. It's a $600 interface. It's totally worth every penny. I personally use the GoXLR paired with the cloud lifter for better vocal performance in the studio and it's even better. But everyone has there own opinions, likes and dislikes, or whatever. But just know that I I will not agree to disagree. I was just making a simple statement for those looking for a mid setup combo of studio and podcast vocalization.
@@thenewgamers7382 Yes. My bad, probably my statement looked like i said the goxlr is not a good interface in a "it's trash" kind of way but I didn't mean that, I mean that it's not a good interface if you're using it for singing (and music in general) because the video is about audio equipment for signing, not for podcast or streaming. If you're not into music then it has good features that might help you a lot, but if you're a musician/producer you won't even use those features because most audio engineers will prefer the raw audio from the mic and do adjustments with special equipment (just like a RAW photo, a photograper will prefer the raw file, wich looks flat and ugly for most people but it's the most versatile for editing, however, for certain people and scenarios a jpg from a smartphone will do fine and even better for those who don't do any kind of post production).
The A2020 mic is very good at high notes. I noticed the other questioned spoke to volume, but I think you asked about notes. Not sure how it would compare, but I know the A2020 favors high notes very well. However, from the reviews, the other microphone favors low voice.
Here I thought you were going to do an actual microphone comparison. Not mash them together in mixed sound. The Shure SM7B is great if you're not on a budget. The AT 2020 is a perfect budget-friendly starter
So.....which is which? I'm going with A = SM7B and B = AT2020. I made my guess based on the dry signals. Once the effects were added in, I don't think anyone can tell.
I just need to know exactly what to get to sing in bedroom on you tube or Tik Tok I do not want to sing with the artist I want there vocals out and mine in like Karaoke. PLEASE HELP!!
SM7b needs very expensive equipment to drive to its full potential. Otherwise, it's just wasted. Rather go for a MV7 if you are still concerning with the mic price, rather than other equipments.

Ma'am i want to record my poetry professionally. But I am full beginner. Should I go for dynamic mic or condenser mic? My room is not sound proof. The sound of fan also comes from outside. If I use condenser mic inside the blanket, will it be a good recording or not? I am very confused I can't understand what to do. Audio Technica 2035 or Sure SM 58 or Shure Mv7x which mic is best for me ?
I’d go with the audio technical 2035 😇
You could go SM57 too 😁👍
@@JesusChrist_IsTruth-LoveForALL can i use dynamic mic for recording
@@civilfieldengineer of course you can. It might even be better if you're trying to battle outside sounds and your room isn't sound proof or treated. What are you trying to record? Vocals Only? What is your budget? Look up this quick video "SM57 vs the world"
@@JesusChrist_IsTruth-LoveForALL Look sir, I am beginner. I want to record my written poetry professionally. In which my line will go in high tone and will also come in low tone. Tell me such dynamic mic and audio interface. So that I can record and mix later. My room is not sound proof. My total budget is $300. But a shopkeeper told me that you cannot do recording with dynamic mic. Please tell me what should I do. Tell me such a mic and audio interface that I will not regret after buying.
If I Buy :
AUDIENT ID4 + SHURE SM58 + SHURU 240 HEADPHONES = Will this setup be good or not?
i prefer any DAW rather than audacity because it felt like touch move. it never reversible in audacity. 😁
@@LaceChaser yeah i tried dynamic and it picked up the noise from my ship engine. and i cant undo the engine noise with EQ. 😂 so i just delete engine noise on start of video but comes along when playing with instruments. they wont notice. 😂
Grab a mic like the at2020 then grab a cheap audio interface like the Arturia Minifuse 2 or Scarlett 2i2
Came to hear the sm7b and realized I’m wearing the same studio headphones as you. Haha
That intro was gold 🤣🤙
A is so much better now I'm biased...thought I had to get a condenser mic but not really?
Mic A is AT2020. Where's the answer?
Hi. My wife and I will be in the Philippines in a month or two and I would like to purchase the Shure SM7b microphone while we are there because it is much cheaper than in the USA. I was wondering if you could tell me where you got yours or recommend a good place to purchase it from? Thank you so much.
W comparison thank you
I know you mentioned Billie Eilish with the AT2020 Which is impressive but also your Headphones the Beyerdynamic DT 770 are the same one Adele uses in the studio.
You even see them in her behind the scenes photos taken during the recording of [30]. I bought the LP so see the pics there too. Much success to you and your music career, you have a lovely voice.
Do i need a phantom power for the Shuree microphone?
Yooooo Im sooooo glad A was the shure I was about to be mad if it wasn’t 😂
Hi, may i ask if what is the application that you use when you edit your voice recording?
You have such a beautiful voice and my set up looks almost similar.
You should make a video just about the Apollo. That would be great. There are a few good videos about it on UA-cam.
1:44 someone can tell me why it sounds muffled and strange, but after so clean ?????? (for sm7b)
Thank you. May I know what software/mixer you use when you apply the effect? (What plugin?)
What are you using for interface ?
Lmao she was so confused 😂
Microphones A definitely!!
You don't really need a cloud lifter for the Shure SM7B you just need a good interface. Like the goxlr
Focusrite is enough.
@@AG-le4ok would a Yamaha mg10xu be good enough without a cloud lifter?
Which mic is the best for singing high notes and loud singing like for strong voices thanks love your videos
the SM7B will do much better for louder singers as it's a dynamic microphone so there's a lot more headroom
I really love your voice 💕
Amazing voice!
your voice is so good wow 🤩🥰
okay I liked mic A more and thought it was the at 2020. Now I'm confused and still don't know which mic to choose
I think it was tbh. She may have mixed them up.
So.....which is which? I'm going with A = SM7B and B = AT2020. I made my guess based on the dry signals. Once the effects were added in, I don't think anyone can tell.
You can clearly tell at2020 is A because at2020 is known for the crispness
Thanks for sharing!
The AT won at clarity
Your mom be like 👁👄👁. 😅
Good video, but it is more important to listen to it raw, not mixed, idk what is the point of the reverb at this stage
nice test
Which headphones do you suggest to get? :)
I just need to know exactly what to get to sing in bedroom on you tube or Tik Tok I do not want to sing with the artist I want there vocals out and mine in like Karaoke. PLEASE HELP!!
Preamp?
Sister Zane.... can you make a video of how to make an worship songs? ☺️🙏🏻✨💕
SM7b needs very expensive equipment to drive to its full potential. Otherwise, it's just wasted. Rather go for a MV7 if you are still concerning with the mic price, rather than other equipments.
