- GySgt Erika Sato and GySgt Regino Madrid, both violinists in "The President's Own" Marine Chamber Orchestra, describe the historical role of strings in the Marine Band and perform Bruce Dukov's arrangement of John Philip Sousa's "The Stars and Stripes Forever".
My brother, who is a professional violinist, sent me this link with the remarks that it was a most amazing performance. And he did not exaggerate in the least. My hat is off to these musicians and their wonderful accomplishments!
Wonderful playing! Thank you for playing my arrangement so effortlessly; I know how challenging it is! Also, thanks for giving all the background of the "band"! Very informative.
Best wishes,
Bruce Dukov
Perfect technique! These are world class musicians!
That was absolutely marvelous! Stunning performance!
These are two of my former colleagues. They are the best as you can hear! I couldn't be more proud of them and more honored to have worked with them. Right on Erika and Gino!!!!!!
The fact that these people are Asian-Americans makes this even more special!
Hi Regino. All of us Hamilton High School Academy of Music (Los Angeles) former faculty are proud you. What a great arrangement.
wow just wow!
I never heard Stars and Stripes done THAT way before, but that was fun to watch and listen to. Bravo!
Fun fact this piece was almost in a three stooges short specifically punch drunks played by Larry who was in fact a trained violinist but this song wasn't in the public domain yet which would've required paying fines so pop goes the weasel was chosen instead as it was already in the public domain.
Thanks for reminding me what a wasted life I've led. They're awesome!
Simply AMAZING!!!!!!!! Anything else after that performance would be UNCIVILIZED.......... 10's across the board

A friend recently retired from the Marine Corps. His mottos are 1. Marines can do anything! 2. Marines are great. I think the arranger and the players here are proving him more than right. To say I'm impressed would be the understatement of the decade.
Marines, Performing outstanding acts of courage and talent since 1775. Semper Fidelis Marines! outstanding performance!
Remarkable, love the arrangement, and its in the hands of two extremely gifted musicians!
Bravo! Brava! There were points when it sounded like the entire string section was playing. Awesome. thanks!
Breathtaking. Not only is this song outstandingly beautiful, but knowing the history behind it, especially with the tragedy of the Hartford Circus Fire, makes it even more meaningful and beautiful. Excellent performance!!
Thank you - and thanks for your service, as well!
