I don't play an instrument but I have a friend who plays violin, I never touched or asked to touch her instrument out of respect, but after a while she started asking me to hand her the violin or to hold it while she did somthing else. And that's when I knew.....we had reached peak friendship level.
Yes that is peak friendship level, when a violin player trusts you to touch your instrument. The only people I trust to touch my instrument are my friends that are also in orchestra. Any non orchestra friends aren't allowed to get close to it
It takes like a long time for someone to be able to touch your instrument, if they hand it to you, you deserve friendship medal of trust
Everyone who has never played violin or viola will immediately take out the instrument without the shoulder rest and grab the bow and then just start making noises. They only know the movements from a video, I doubt they have never actually played the instrument before. I don’t want anyone who has no experience or I don’t trust to even pick up the instrument. There’s a boy in my orchestra group and he has held the fragile violin by very, very risky places.
Some of my friends don’t have that respect ;-; they’ll just grab my bow by the horse hair and randomly ask if they can play it/ they’ll just grab it
