On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of "The Stars and Stripes Forever", composed by my ancestral family's in-law, John Philip Sousa, were brilliantly performed by the U.S. Marine Band ensembles. Bravo, John Philip. My deep appreciation and Semper Fi to all my friends at Marine Barracks here on Capitol Hill, where I've had the honor and privilege for a lifetime of hearing the Corps' unique musical talents.

There is an arrangement available for violin and cello! If you search youtube for this piece, you'll probably find a string orchestra playing it.

Fantastic performance by two wonderful musicians, However, if I'm not mistaken, Gunnery Sgt. Christopher Franke is playing a viola, NOT a violin. One can tell by the difference in size of the instrument as well as the tone and octave in which the melody is performed. Perhaps there needs to be a correction to the introductory notation above.
I disagree, from the look of the finger positions, it's a violin. A quick google search also reveals him to be the assistant principal violin since April 2019
That is 100 percent a violin…
1:11 He's playing on the lowest string, which is clearly NOT a C string. It's just a violin that is a bit large.
