I love the subtle way they refer back to Hunter's mutation in this episode. His senses are so acute he can detect electromagnetic field variations so he KNEW the ship was starting up before anyone else heard anything.
And later he "senses" something's wrong with Tech and Omega, probably because he picked up on hearing them fall into the water from a long way off.
As a bounty hunter, he'd pretty much instantly become one of the best in the galaxy as soon as he started. Except he values life too much to risk bringing in a potentially innocent target.

I saw some other comments on other videos where some people with Autism were saying how they really identify with Tech and how he explained processing things differently. I feel like that’s what the show could be trying to tell us about him. I have a nephew with autism and I’m reminded of him a lot.

Echo, even though he shares some similar capabilities with Tech, is definitely the “soul” of the Batch. He acts as the spoken conscience for Hunter specifically. He tells Hunter and us as the audience, what Hunter is struggling with - that conflict with keeping Omega safe, and doing the right thing for the greater galaxy at large with the Empire asserting itself.

Tech taking a leap of faith into the dark was just not something I expected in this episode. Yeah, he's the emotionally awkward tech guy but he still cares for Omega strongly. I hope they get the Marauder back too, it's a cool ship

I simply love how Tech did not hesitate to admit such so openly to Omega after unintentionally making it seem her expressing saddening/hurt/distressing and anxiety towards Echo's absence was unwarranted. Yes, Hunter had to coax him to resume communication with her. He explained to Tech on how she was FEELING and made it clear firmly yet fairly that he had to open himself up to FEELING such emotions. It set off an uncharted chain reaction in Tech and I could see such in his gaze when he met Hunters.
Tech most likely can adapt to changes in situations when it comes to facts and truths... But... learning to adapt to Omega's introduction into the squad... and how the situations that they all find themselves having to endure and impact them all from her prospective emotionally? It is a much more.. sensitive and difficult dynamic to deal with. He openly admitted it.... Yet he followed it up with a statement as positive as he could muster despite it all. He is neurodivergent in nature.... I identify with him so strongly as I have Aspergers' myself. Time and time again.. I have had to take a step back from factual focus and give myself a fair, honest chance to actually feel through the situations I am experiencing.
He really DOES care for her. He did not think twice about jumping down blindly into the unknown to rescue her. I am calling it now : Tech has a heart of the purest gold.
He also openly admitted that he whilst he did totally agree with Crosshair or Echo's reasoning for leaving the squad? He respected their decisions... yet agreeing with such decisions? Naturally one won't all the time... He just does not state and/or show it in the usual manner... ~
In Crosshairs case? - “Understanding you does not mean that I agree with you."
With Echo? He wished him the best of luck and knew logically; the chances of Echo choosing to leave with Rex to assist their brothers from such a wide spreading situation? Was always high.
I often wonder how Omega would have reacted if she was given some warning to process the fact that Echo was to leave.... She still would be sad... Yet I wonder if she held the knowledge of such a drastic shift beforehand.... would she have been able to see similar logical conclusions in terms of exactly why Echo was leaving... and thus... not feel as if she were simply loosing another one of her brothers... or that such could keep occurring? I just wanted to give her the biggest hug! >.

Not telling Omega made it harder on her. The processing she needed and the time to say a proper goodbye was stolen from her. He attachment to the group and her brothers means a lot to her. Her attachment to her home, after losing Kamino (even if she didn't want to be there) was traumatic. And she's so young and new to these emotions but still has had her childhood ripped from her.... She probably feels abandoned and I'm guessing there will be a time where she has to say good bye permanently and won't be able to handle it. Or she will, if she can take the lessons she's learning and apply them.

@@funnylilgalreacts I would have honestly thought that Hunter would have picked up on it somewhat. If Echo had mentioned it to him with Rex giving the full and truthful reasoning behind his departure from the group? I would have thought that Hunter would have somehow conveyed that to Omega. I feel that whilst he was attempting to explain to Tech the gravity of Omega's reaction to the situation they were in? He himself held some hint of saddening realisation and perhaps regret for not finding a way to break the news about Echo's departure sooner so Omega could process it. Poor love had already been left behind on Kamino when she was just being friendly ... then actively trying to warn them all. Hunter than was opting to send her away with Cut, Sue and their kids.... Which, whilst I can see his reasoning to a degree? He is her brother. She and his squad are bound by blood. She had a connection to the Bad Batch before they were even born! Then she had to return to Kamino after Hunter assured her with a promise that she would never again have to re live her past existence... only for that to be painfully broken. The she suffered the intense trauma of being present and almost dying when Kamino was bombed! Add to that.. she holds some important purpose to the empire itself which is the scariest aspect of all.
She tried to re connect with Crosshair despite everything. He saved her life --- the exact reasoning behind such actions? Many guesses would materialize upon further analysis of the scenes and dialogue etc.
It would be interesting if she ends up meeting Commander Cody at some stage. She doesn't outright blame Rex for swaying Echo's decision... But without full explanation of how far back the pair truly go? She can't rationalize and come to a logical conclusion to allow herself to somewhat cope with the loss of support from yet another member of the squad leaving.
Hell, Could you imagine... if she was somehow reunited with a young Boba Fett? If she did eventually leave the Bad Batch?... It would make sense for her to go out searching for Boba for answers or just to connect with him. I'd kill to see such all unfold!

Mixing up Echo with Tech isn't really suprising. They are rather redundant, aren't they? That's also the reason why splitting Echo from the team is rather smart, in my opinion. Gives both of them room to shine and evolve their characters further.

Actually Hunter extended the invitation to echo to join their sqaud when Crosshair was still apart of clone force 99. They saw that Echo was different as a regular clone, he had become a cyborg clone which made Echo unique in his own way but hunter knew that he would have a hard time fitting in or being accepted among the other clones. That is why Hunter invited him to the squad.

The more I watch this ep, the more I like it. We see Omega at her lowest ebb thinking about Echo and how things are changing for them all, and Echo frustrating her by being matter-of-fact about things. Its not what she needs to hear, and when he does connect with her about the way he processes decisions, and shows he does care for them all in his own way, it then spurs her on so that at the end of the episode, when all seems lost; she is resolute once more that they'll find a way out of this situation.

Theory goes that Cid set up the Dad Batch to get stranded. They´ve had several missions that only cost her money and they drew a lot of attention on Coruscant that she doesn´t want on herself, plus she may get a nice bounty and a good deal on the Marauder. Plus Cid doesn´t seem to be the type to buy an exhausted mine. But.... this show doesn´t always make sense so I´ll wait and see. If the Empire shows up on that desert planet though...

BTW, I suspect that Tech being Tech, had already deduced the existence of water at the bottom of the crevasse when he first found Omega and calculated that there was minimal risk when he jumped after her.

There is more going on here than you know. This is the episode where The Bad Batch goes from Good Show to Great Star Wars.
George Lucas is obsessed with Themes. The central theme in Star Wars is Letting Go. This episode is all about Letting Go and once they do, they find a way out of Darkness and begin to start living their lives as free people.
“The fact that everything must change and that things come and go through [Anakin’s] life and that he can’t hold onto things, which is a basic Jedi philosophy that he isn’t willing to accept emotionally.”
--George Lucas, Attack of the Clones commentary
“[The Jedi] trained more than anything else to understand the transitional nature of life, that things are constantly changing and you can’t hold on to anything. You can love things but you can’t be attached to them, You must be willing to let the flow of life and the flow of the Force move through your life, move through you. So that you can be compassionate and loving and caring, but not be possessive and grabbing and holding on to things and trying to keep things the way they are. Letting go is the central theme of the film.“
--George Lucas, Star Wars Archives: 1999-2005
“[Jedi Knights] do not grow attachments, because attachment is a path to the dark side. You can love people, but you can’t want to possess them. They’re not yours. Accept that they have a fate. Even those you love most are going to die. You can’t do anything about that. Protect them with your lightsaber, but if they die they were going to die. there’s nothing you can do. All you can do is accept that fact.
“In mythology, if you go to Hades to get them back you’re not doing it for them, you’re doing it for yourself. You’re doing it because you don’t want to give them up. You’re afraid to be without them. The key to the dark side is fear. You must be clean of fear, and fear of loss is the greatest fear. If you’re set up for fear of loss, you will do anything to keep that loss from happening, and you’re going to end up in the dark side. That’s the basic premise of Star Wars and the Jedi, and how it works.
“That’s why they’re taken at a young age to be trained. They cannot get themselves killed trying to save their best buddy when it’s a hopeless exercise.”
--George Lucas, The Star Wars Archives: 1999-2005

The drill tool was a standout, quite clever. Tech explaining that he processes things differently was growth and made me feel bad about thinking 'come on man, she's a kid you can't say that...' earlier in the episode. And the Monument Valley inspired art work. Reminiscent of classic Westerns by John Ford which Lucas was inspired by. :)

Isn't there a droid on the Marauder? His name is Gonky; he may save the day. But then again he doesn't seem like he is resourceful, like R2 or Chopper. I never see him do anything but wobble around the ship or Wrecker using him to do squats. 🤣😂

I think these "filler" episodes having some of the strongest character building in the series and the writing has been so good. The heartfelt talk between Tech and Omega was really great and the absolutely perfect timing of the rest of the Dad Batch falling into the cave was just perfect.

It's important to remember that we all have the force. When someone in Star Wars says "I have a bad feeling about this" thats the force. Whether we can purposely use it is another thing entirely which the jedi gatekept. Selecting only from kids around the universe who displayed exceptional ability or perhaps even just expression by circumstance. But that Didn't mean that anyone couldn't be trained. They just selcted who they wanted and decided who is "jedi". Whereas if it were possible, and if the will was there everyone could be trained as jedi. But an organization must have so Amount of exclusivity wants to gain power. Is although good for the universe Is the democratization of this power undermines the jedi as a body of power. The symbol of their temple rising high above everything else on Corascant. Yoda himself rarely doing anything himself or speaking to anyone outside the jedi. The people he claims ward over paternalistically. Think back to Kashyyyk. He was attacked high in a tower while all the other jedi masters were leading their troops. Palpatine was right.

A lot of people didn’t like this episode because of what we got in the previous episodes..
However, this was one of my favorites behind a few, due to the fact that we seen great character development from Tech (out of all people) and Omega. I think Omega is gunna be the spark out of the crew to really bring everybody together as a (family) and tech is starting to see a glimpse of that. Amazing character development, great plot, great music. 9/10 episode for me!
    Ps: I don’t like Sid.

This was one of my favorites actually. I likes the Empire stuff for sure and seeing Rex again. Tech is one of my favorites and seeing his growth is so heartwarming. Omega is becoming all of the 99 in one. Each member has a special set of skills and she's picking up on all of them. She's going to be a very well rounded warrior.

I definitely got Hondo vibes. But, more likely, it was Phee Genoa. She had access to their ship already. I'd be willing to bet, in the next episode, they find another ship. And it's probably the ship of the person who stole theirs.

I think tension has been rising with Sid for a while. This is also happening after the Batch got involved in a fight between Trandosians and Wookies. She's got a literal Wookie hanging on her wall. I'm guessing that Omegas feelings in particular about Sid are on the downward slide already and Sid knew that. The Dad Batch is just a group of clone deserters to the Empire but I'm thinking Omega is hugely valuable and would bring in a big time ransom

Ah, Tech - a man after my own (lack of) heart... Not hard to see why Omega was struggling with his reactions, they are polar opposites - but they are still family.
I've been wondering for weeks now about whether the "Sid might be dodgy" is actually a misdirect. So many of the missions that she sends them on seem to go sideways - but in ways that are perfectly suited for the Batch to figure out and fix. Like, was finding Gungi an accident? Sid's not running around hunting Wookiees like the other Trandos, and I wonder why that is...

I've seen some autistic fans draw attention to the ways Tech fits the standard autistic coded character (think Data or 7 of Nine in Star Trek) and a bit more enthusiasm after this one as Tech talking about his emotions felt very familiar and the statement of "I don't feel any less, I feel differently." Particularly that part was a nice touch as often the very really and powerful emotional reality for a lot of autistics is not included or accurately so at least. Like I didn't hear annoyance in the "What is your issue?" I heard a literal question. "I don't understand. What is wrong?"
