The best quote I can think of for the Jedi for much of their existence, but especially by the time of the Clone Wars, comes from a minor side quest npc Padawan in the Star Wars the Old Republic MMO, "The Jedi say that fear and emotions lead to the Dark Side, and yet the Jedi FEAR emotion"

I think the only times I was genuinely angry with Mundi, and not just disappointed, was during the Ahsoka and Yoda arcs. I will never forgive him for his sheer callousness during Ahsoka's most desperate time of need nor will I forgive him for his sheer close-mindedness when Yoda needed his fellow councilman's wisdom. It was one thing to dismiss communicating with the dead when they didn't believe it to be possible, it's another to accuse Yoda of being under Sith influence.

There is some truth to it though. This is what happened to Anakin, I think his visions of padme dying were in fact Palpatine making them. Especially if you consider the new canon. What Kylo was thinking to be Darth Vader was actually faked by Palpatine(who has somehow returned). But it's pretty level-headed of Mundi to remain cautious and at least open the possibility that it /might/ be a Sith influence. It even feels more likely, if for hundreds of years nobody even knew about force ghosts. You see how dangerous and tempting dark side is so Jedi have to remain vigilant.

@@bassboosted4025 Still doesn't justify the callousness towards Ahsoka.

By the time of Mundi, the Jedi had spent almost 1000 years having basically become a giant echo chamber. They only accepted infants to train, who would grow up to train more infants. They did not patrol or act, but wait for orders from the increasingly corrupt Republic. They were so focused on communing with the Force, they lost connection to the Living Force.

Mundi was past controlled. He was cold. And cold is a dark side emotion all its own. Being empty of compassion is an emotion of its own.
It may sound exaggerated but Mundi was as close as anyone had become to Vitiate before his first death. Vitiate was beyond anger or hate or any other dark emotion by the galactic cold war era. He was empty and cold. He simply acted toward his goal. Mundi didn't have Vitiate's goal, but I dare wager the state if mind they both had as they calculated getting their goal and then threw lives at it would have been eerily similar.

Windu’s strength was his brittle belief in the Jedi Dogma , not the Code and his blind acceptance of the Republic. Similar to Dooku’s hatred to the corruption of the Republic, Windu was just a bad day from falling to the Dark Side. Palpatine probably considered turning Windu but was worried that Windu was too strong, replacing Palpatine at the first opportunity.
I think IF Windu and Anakin had been able to get along and train together, they both would have benefited and been much stronger, more centered.

Master Luminara Unduli was the same way. When it came to her padawan, Barris Offee. During a battle to destroy a separatist droid production facility Barris was sent in with Ahsoka Tano. They succeeded in their mission, but was trapped in the rubble. Luminara was willing to accept the death of Barris as “The will of The Force”. Anakin was not willing to give up on Ahsoka.
There was an episode of this battle in The Clone Wars. Luminara was so cold 🥶 about willing to “let go” and blamed Anakin for being too compassionate with his padawan. Perhaps 🤔 this is what led to Barris becoming rogue with The Jedi.
Ki-Adi-Mundi’s men hated him. Especially during the battle of Mygeeto. Many soldiers died needlessly and he seemed very unsympathetic towards them. Though he saved their commanding officer many times, he had a lot of disdain for Ki-Adi-Mundi. When Order 66 was delivered, the clones had no problem enforcing it and violently killed Ki-Adi-Mundi. But if he was considered the “perfect Jedi”, he acted relatively similar to that of a Sith.

I must be the only Star Wars fan that doesn’t mind Mundi, yes he’s unattached and approaches situations with pure logic yet I think he is given a hard time. One point that always annoys me though is all the videos on him suggest he didn’t care about his family, which is explicitly not true. In fact Mundi said himself he DID care for them but tried to remain unattached inline with the Jedi code but admitted that it was always difficult. So I don’t get why Star Wars researchers far greater than myself overlook this or flat out twist it to make Ki Adi out to be some type of unfeeling Jedi sociopath. He was an example of the Jedi’s flaws to be sure, but this is still somewhat of a harsh view on a layered character.

We don’t know if Cierians as race are just naturally more logical or have different psyches in general but thats getting to deep into the mud. • @StormStar626
      @StormStar626 6 місяців тому +2

@@Swearengen1980 I disagree while I don’t deny he was arrogant and judgmental I would still argue it was rooted in logic. With Yoda especially his conclusion that Yoda has either becoming too old and his mind is suffering as a result or is under some attack by the Sith is a logical one, since what was really going on was both unheard of and astonishing and difficult to understand so therefore a logical person like Mundi would struggle to accept. Don’t forget its easy to judge because we as views saw the whole story to Mundi all he saw was and aged old being hearing voices no one could hear and even Yoda himself was unnerved and not totally convinced of what he was experiencing and out of all the Jedi on Kenobi was resolute in Yoda being of sound mind and that was more out of blind loyalty.
With Ahsoka, Mundi was harsh and was more concerned about what would happen to the Jedi if they blindly defended Ahsoka based on nothing but her word. In many ways he approached this again with logic, after all they had had Jedi, Clones and Senators turn on them before and so it was no big stretch for it to potentially happen again. He was arrogant and too quick to cast her aside but many of the other members of the council did the same.

Or he got it from the term "Spiritus Mundi" which was coined by the poet William Butler Yeats in his poem "The Second Coming".
Yeats believed that each of us is a part of an ordered Universal Mind or "Spiritus Mundi".

This is the second video I encounter completely flaming Ki adi Mundi and I need to defend him because a lot of people simply seem to lack the ability to think from another perspective.
    1. His species is a 2 brain species known to be highly rational. Therefor developing a stoic mindset so that emotions dont influence your actions is a very rational approach and practical as it helps with the jedis approach on emotion
People seem to forget that nlt letting yourself be influenced by emotions is not the same as not caring. Ki adi does care, he is just a stoic and doesnt let him influence it which makes him seem cold
He has no ties to his family nor his wifes because he has so many of them and practically cant spend a lot of time with them so obviously he wouldnt be emotionally destroyed as much if smth happens to them.
    2. Questioning Ahsoka in light of the evidence considering the fact that hr doesnt know her well is 100% reasonable. Its fking war, everyone can be a traitor
    3. Saying that yoda is under dark side influence is a very good suggestion that was partly true due to sidious manipulating yoda.
    4. Everyone seems to forget that if the jedi had listened to mundi he would've carried the shit out of them and prevented order 66, he proposed for palpatine to lay down emergency power after grievous death so that if he refuses the jedi can intervene and not just arrest him out of nowhere like windu did. This would've been a politically way smarter move

The Dark Side is a corruption due to misuse of the Force ergo it is unnatural.
Sidious was the angler fish, my guy.
Add: Furthermore, the Jedi's corruption is not due to the Force but their own mortal shortcomings. They do not understand the Force fully or what it wants if it could want anything, long hours of meditation in order to understand and deepen their relationship with the Force wouldn't be necessary if it actually spoke to them in any meaningful way.

I think generally, it is perfectly acceptable for most Jedi to have certain emotional attachments to close people, such as parents, siblings, a significant other, but the Jedi know through experience that such strong attachments can lead to poor judgment and result in actions that are bad for the Jedi way of life.. with Anakin, they were so weary about him that they went to far in making sure that he would remain on the right path, they were strict and tbh unfair, with all the right intentions.. this made Anakin a bit resentful and showed him that even the best Jedi can be mistaken with their zealous ideas of what makes a Jedi.
IMO, his turn to evil still didn't make sense. Came out of left field, bigly. But this makes sense as an attributing factor.

The irony is that he WAS a good Jedi. "Good Jedi" is not equal to "good person", for much the same reason that a popular person is not always a good person. For Mundi himself, his lack of concern for his family certainly does not win him any awards for being that good. At least he followed the Jedi way consistently and did not even make exceptions for himself. However, others cared a great deal and still wound up bad for the galaxy. Nearly everyone that turned to the dark side did so in whole or in part for anger how others were treated. There was greed there for sure, but Anakin and Dooku -- just to name a few, originally got frustrated with the council for its lack of concern long before they let greed overtake them. Only a few Sith, like Palpatine, appear to not have had this good-hearted start. Considering the entire Jedi Council cared more for siding with the Galactic Senate rather than combatting crime and slavery... to say nothing about wars here and there.
I think there is something to be said for the fact that Mundi was actually the PERFECT JEDI... but at the same time, a horrible being. 🙃 Even Yoda refused to get involved until it was too late to matter. What does that make Yoda? If you are a Jedi, Yoda seemed to care a lot. But to the rest of the galaxy, Yoda and most of the Jedi turned a blind eye to the pain and suffering around them. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't their fault it happened, but it was their fault it that they ignored it. Back when the Jedi were more likely to get involved to help support peace, it would make them better people. 🙂
